BREAKING NEWS! The Butter Crisis in Norway is no Joke

It has been a trying few years with natural disasters, war and domestic drama. Online folks have a lot to deal with too.  We all can use a big hug and a chance to recuperate from the past.

The recent butter shortage in Norway has become a full blown crisis according to SuperTommylife.  Apparently it is ruining the holidays and should be considered a problem that needs fast resolution.

Please take a moment to hear his plea and perhaps you can be in the giving spirit and send butter to Norway.

On behalf of the SL Enquirer and all those enjoying butter for the Holidays , we sincerely apologize and hope your issues is resolved swiftly.

Happy Holidays from Lanai Jarrico and The SL Enquirer

T'was the night before Christmas and all through the grid,
no noses were frozen because prim snow fluttered in,
no noobs in flannels were tucked into bed,
they all wore freebie pajamas instead.
To find wreaths of holly, t'was  very hard,
unrezzed holly trees grew in every parcel yard.
In front of the houses, avies  were working
adorning the bushes while stalkers were lurking.
The sleeping escorts were dreaming in glee,
hoping to find Johns under the tree.
They all knew that Santa was well on his way,
on a segway, instead of a sleigh.
And soon he arrived and started to work,
he hadn't a second to linger or shirk.
He whizzed up the highways and zoomed up the road,
all in an effort to delivering some loads.
The Second Life moon gave the city a glow,
and lighted the way for old Santa to find his Hos'.
As he jumped from the segway he gave a wee chuckle,
he was dressed in spandex with a tacky belt buckle,
There weren't any chimneys, but that caused no gloom,
for Santa came in through the  bedroom.
He stopped at each house....stayed only two minutes,
emptying his sack of stuff that was in it.
Before he departed, he treated himself
to a packed bong left upon the shelf.
high, hot and bothered, he turned as he  jerked and bounced out the door,
remembering he still had to visit some other hos.
He shifted the gears and stepped on the gas
and up the road he went like a flash.

I heard him exclaim as he went on his way,

Mankind Tracer virtually LIVE atThe SL Enquirer- November 14th @ 5pm slt

Join SLE for an exclusive encore event as  Mankind Tracer performs virtually LIVE  for fans at The SL Enquirer Media Center!

Recently finishing up the Peace, Love and Belief V Event, Mankind Tracer can be found, guitar in hand, and ready to energize a crowd with his originals blended perfectly with his voice.

Every artist has their own special sound. Sometimes we can compare them to others more familiar or some are just too unique for comparison. Mankind has such a voice. The power of music is a well known fact and breaks all language barriers. It can get a person to move to the beat and not even realize it.  For me music not only makes me want to dance, I enjoy the meaning of his songs. One thing about this rockstar is that he shares his stories with all of us. If you have not experienced a Mankind Tracer concert, I recommend it.

PAICE News: CyberSpace: The New Frontier... Baeric Constantine Reporting...

As with any frontier, there are boom towns, and brawls, and even frontier wars, in an effort to create or maintain a border. One would think that this is the fabric of some western novel, or some western film, but, alas, it is not. It is the story of the Internet, the CyberWest, or, CyberSpace: The New Frontier...
Speaking at DARPA's “Colloquium on Future Directions in Cyber Security,” on November 7, 2011, Regina Dugan stated that DARPA are “...shifting [their] investments to activities that promise more convergence with the threat and that recognize the needs of the Department of Defense...[as]...Malicious cyber attacks are not merely an existential threat to our bits and bytes; they are a real threat to our physical systems, including our military systems. To this end, in the coming years we will focus an increasing portion of our cyber research on the investigation of offensive capabilities to address military-specific needs.”

SLE's Astrologist, Linda Lauren is making waves in the real world.

Linda Lauren sure has been busy these days and we are excited to announce that she just made front page of the NY Times! Check out the article here!

PAICE NEWS- CyberCrime: A Pandoric Pandemic... Baeric Constantine Reporting...

Cyber-Security has been of the essence, and too few people understand the necessity for protecting our data, and our machines from the ever escalating cyber-threat.

CyberSecurity... just how secure are we, as a nation and as individuals? This is a question that is discussion with the top ranks of those in security.  The Internet is a hotbed for transnational crime, and according to Iain Lobban of GCHQ, the Government’s listening centre, "a significant change has taken place in the modern world where our adversaries employ similar technologies as used by the citizens going about their daily business, so reassuring people that they are being appropriately defended against threats without encroachments on their privacy is very important."

Lobban went on to give some context, "that there are deliberate (malicious) attacks and accidental, cyber techniques have been used to bring pressure on other states, there is theft of intellectual property (such as the theft of Japanese Military Secrets), Cyberspace lowers the bar for entry to the espionage game, both for states and for criminal actors, and that the risks are growing with the Internet, about 60% a year."

Spotlight Feature: Deliziosa Vendetta, founder of Gems and Kisses Fine Jewelry ~ Shon Charisma Reporting

I am a lover of creativity and imagination, the ways in which people use these tools to fashion things no one else could. And speaking of fashion, well, we know that I am also a lover of fashions, from dresses to jewelry. When I was asked to talk with the innovative and unique designer Deliziosa Vendetta about Gems & Kisses Fine Jewelry, my heart went all aflutter. Before you even marvel at her jewelry designs, you are greeted with the simple, yet strong, elegant jewelry box design of the store. Needless to say, I emptied my bank account while perusing Gems & Kisses, and was excited to talk to Vendetta about her inspiration, creativity, and Season 1 of Gems & Kisses Royal Miss 2012, which kicks off this month.

Halloween Spotlight: Interview with the Grim Reaper Lanai Jarrico Reporting...

Halloween is the time of year when they say the veil between our world and the spiritual world is the thinnest. It’s a time when all the freaks supposedly come out, but here in Second Life it’s a freak fiasco all year long.

Many avatars like to break out their Halloween costumes and run amuck doing pumpkin hunts, costume parties and whatnot. This year I decided I’d hunt for Halloween icons. I originally wanted to interview the headless Horseman but apparently someone sold his horse in one of the breedable black markets and he is now on foot. The headless and horseless horseman eventually made it to our meeting late but his head never showed so we had to cancel...

The Stream Scene Ep. 7 - Xander, Lindimoo, Edward & Blindboy

Its that time of the month to get your fill of live music as The Stream Scene presents another half hour of live music from all over the grid. This week please join host Miles Eleventhauer as he presents music from internationally known artist XanderNichting Writer. Xander will knock your socks off as he performs his original song called "The Circle".

Children of a Factory Nation - CD Release Party for JordanReyne Deezul

Hailed by New Zealand's National Radio as the pioneer of a new sound, Jordan's music is a bloodthirsty mix of Celtic rock, Grimms fairytale-eske text and the sounds of steam and iron. Imagine PJ Harvey trapped in the workhouses of old England, with only Nine Inch Nails for company, and you're almost there.
Jordan has had three National Music Award nominations in her home country as well as several commissions by the New Zealand Arts Council. Her musical involvements include the second Lord of the Rings soundtrack, Cafe Del Mar, and a co-written song with BBC UK's Zane

SL ARTS & LITERATURE: The Martians Invade! to Benefit Susan G. Komen and Breast Cancer Research

Halloween is coming and Seanchai Library is getting into the spirit of the season, planning to raise some hairs, chill some bones and tingle some spines with a special production of War of the Worlds radio play written by Howard Koch and made famous by Orson Welles and the Mercury Theatre On The Air in October of 1938.Welles created mass hysteria with a production that mixed news reports and radio programming, voiced by skilled actors, to replicate the events H.G. Wells wrote about in his 1898 novel. The Seanchai Library will be presenting War of the Worlds in three public performances on the grid October 22nd through 26th, with guests invited to join the Seanchai Library in supporting Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Dirty Virtual Business Part 2- What avatars are saying about virtual businesses in Second Life- The SLE Business Survey

Last week I wrote an article about Business in Second Life©, mainly from my perspective being involved and observing how others conduct business. I sent out a survey through the SL Enquirer Media group and listed some questions in Part one for readers. The responses were interesting.

A lot of the times I hear that time zones and availability seem to be the hardest thing to overcome when trying to build an active staff on an international platform. The other complaint is that Second Life is still a very unstable business platform due to the lag and crashing. These virtual world natural disasters like the ones described can really disrupt business and can cause people to lose faith in Second Life to help them sustain an income they can count on.

FASHION NEWS: Designer Dossier : Dashwood Muircastle

Dashwood arrived in Second Life in 2008, she says the Universe was telling her something when first her mother suggested that she have a look at SL, then it was featured in an episode of CSI:NY and finally a friend watched a programme on MSNBC on SL – she had no choice now did she?
Dashwood came to SL with the intention of creating fashion and intending to sell her designs. But like all of us she had much to learn about SL before she did that. Her first day in SL was just like anyone else’s she reckons possibly even worse, she says “I could barely control my avatars movements let alone change my clothes - so it was a long road to being able to create my own designs.”
After literally "GOOGLING" "How to create clothing in SL" Dashwood began learning.... She quips “I opened up a tiny shop on a small mainland plot - and watched as NO ONE came. But I kept making clothing. Then I attended (in RL) SLCC in 2009 and that sort of changed things... I began to change my product a bit and really FOCUS my designs to my personal point of view and here we are. We moved the store to this larger area last Winter and have since expanded the Bridal Line, launched a line for Girls and now have a JUST for Bridesmaids line of much more RL style Bridesmaid dresses in a selection of colors - which are customizable upon request.” The DASHWOOD ~Collection~ specialises in Trendy/Elegant, Classic with a twist and "Girly" or "Sweet" designs.

Once again, we are celebrating this time with a month of live music, literary events, exhibits, vendors, freebie hunts, story telling and themed dances.  Fox Ravenheart and Serene Bechir (aka The Wild Roving Foxes), who brought the grid last December’s atmospheric Yule Festival have done it again with Samhain Festival 2011 which began October 3rd and continues through the end of the month in Talisman.  This is the Second Samhain Festival they have presented, with all donations from this year’s event benefiting the Make A Wish Foundation
