SPOTLIGHT on KyrinCorvus- A DJ, Enforcer and Security.- Lanai Jarrico Reporting

If you can think it , chances are it is in Second Life. That is the great thing about this amazing virtual world. You can do or be whatever you want or express your style, skills and curiosity.  For me it has always involved virtual world media but I also love to explore and have fun when I am not in search of the next topic to post in The SL Enquirer. Many times I find inspiration directly from activites I get involved in. Recently, I was a guest on The Pamela Live Show discussing SLE and thought it would be a great idea to give a Spotlight Feature to an audience member.

Before the show I set out a raffle jar on the stage and at the end, a winner was drawn.  You don’t have to own a business to be the subject of an SLE interview. Everyone in Second Life has a story. That is was makes Second Life a neverending source for news. KyrinCorvus was the winner of The SL Enquirer Spotlight feature that night. He is a DJ at mOBSCENE, the Enforcer in Diablos Legion (MC) Motorcycle Club and also happens to be security for the Pamela Live show.

Interview with KyrinCorvus

Lanai: How did you discover Second Life?
KyrinCorvus: I was looking for a new alternative way to chat and meet people compared to the choices at the time. I didn’t much like Second Life at first but came back a year ago and rather enjoy it

Lanai: I’ve hear that from a few people. A Second look brings more clarity. Would you consider Second Life a game or an extension of your real life?
KyrinCorvus:  Second life to me is an extension to real life because it is a way I can spend time with the people I care about the most.

Lanai: What type of things are you involved with in SL?
KyrinCorvus: I am the Dj Manager @ the mOBSCENE,  Enforcer @DLMC, Im learning how to Build motorcycles. Along with many other things

Lanai: You are a busy man. Can you tell our readers about The mOBSCENE?
The mOBSCENE was created by real life family members Raiven (tricialyn) and Halen (schminke) as well as myself, after we decided we wanted a club where we could all hang out and work in Second Life together. Raiven likes to dance, I like to DJ, and Halen likes to ensure operations run smoothly, so we work together incredibly well. The mOBSCENE is a mixture of gothic style, rock music, and a grunge atmosphere, which when combined has created a very unique, alternative hangout for all of us, and anyone else who has had trouble "fitting in" in Second Life.

Lanai: Having family working together in SL must make for interesting conversation at family functions lol. It seems to work well for you. So KyrinCorvus, you are also involved with a Motorcycle Club, can you tell me about it?

KyrinCorvus: I am theEnforcer @Diablos Legion MC, We are a small Group founded by jimmiejax, the president is Cowboy Sunny and the vice president is Caramena , we are looking for members to join our MC so message them with questions.

I’ve hang out at MCs before. I have to say it is like one big family. The atmosphere is more involved in conversation and activitives than the usual music venues with regulars.  Another thing I think is so great is the charity work involved in the MC community. Many Motorcycle Clubs do charity work in Second Life, what causes does your MC support?

KyrinCorvus:  Being a relatively new member we do support all charities but haven't been working with any at this time.

Lanai: When you do, let me know I think it is a great community services. What other things are you involved in on the grid?

KyrinCorvus: I am security for the Pamela Live show,  an advisor for JPAW Radio, and a layout designer for Infinity Magazine, I have my irons in a lot of fires

Wow, working for a magazine alone can be demanding.  I wish you well in all you aspire to do in Second Life. Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers as we look ahead to 2017?

KyrinCorvus: I am working on opening up a Motorcycle Shop.  (no grand opening as of yet). I would like to thank Lanai Jarrico for this opportunity and wishes of luck in 2017.

Using Crystals to Enhance Dreams by Psychic Medium Linda Lauren

To me, dreams are the most important part of living. By tapping into them one can explore the waking world, and actually work through issues before they have even come to light. There are two factors one must consider in dream work: remembering one’s dreams and recording those dreams. I have had many clients tell me they could not remember their dreams, or that they do not dream. Everyone dreams, every night. How can one record what one can not recall? There is one method I believe works well.

REMEMBERING: Before sleeping for the night, form your hand into a fist and hold it in the center of your chest. Close your eyes and say: “I will remember my dreams when I wake up.” Say this three times, once aloud and twice to yourself. After a few days, recall should be easier.

RECALLING & DECIPHERING: Once you begin recalling dreams, you can record them. Purchase a journal, any kind will do. Some of my clients buy a notebook with an inspirational cover while others simply pick a small school notebook. Personally, because I do heavy dream work each day, I have a notebook and a small tape recorder that I use during the night because handwriting can be tricky when you wake up from dreaming. In dream recall everything is important. A general rule would be to make a point of recalling any of the following: colors, shapes, gender, water, weather and movement. These points should reveal a great deal about the state of your life at the present time.

Using crystals for dreaming can enhance the dream state in many ways, depending on the type of crystal and how it is used. The results can be enlightening, enriching and therapeutic. Below are methods and the crystals one might use.

Stress Release And Insomnia — Amethyst is an excellent stone for relieving you of the stress of the day. A relaxing crystal, it also helps with insomnia and headaches. Take a glove and place it over your left “receiving” hand before retiring to bed. Slip a small amethyst crystal into the glove. You will be able to get a good night’s rest, release stress, and your dreams may become more uniform, thus allowing you to remember them more easily. Once you become more comfortable with dreaming with amethyst, you may want to tape one to your third eye before sleeping and create some real magic!

Love And Romance — Rose quartz and Jade are good crystals/stones for dreams where love is the issue at hand. Place either crystal (or both) under your pillow. (I find it best to actually slip the stone into the pillow case. If it gets lost during the night, don’t worry. It simply means you no longer need the benefits of those particular crystals. The energies of these stones are soft and may bring forth dreams that are loving and filled with positive vibrations.

Problem Solving — Clear quartz is the best for issues one needs to work through while sleeping. Program a clear quartz point with the issue on your mind, with the express request to solve your issue via your dreams. You will find that when you awake you may be more focused, grounded, and clear with your issue.

Money and Prosperity — Citrine is an excellent crystal for bringing about wealth in body, mind and spirit. Known as the merchant stone, it manages to attract abundance in ways that fortify balance, whether that balance is sought in the home, the bank account, the body, spirit, or the mind. Intent is important…as is your faith that God and the Universe will provide for your needs. Citrine is also helpful in cleansing the chakras (energy fields) of the body. You will find yourself awakening refreshed after using Citrine.

I strongly suggest that you dream with crystals for a full week, recording your results and the crystals you use, before moving on to the next crystal-dream exercise you want to try. Consistency and intent are most important. Your intention, your faith and your desire for accomplishment will bring about positive results. There are as many methods as there are crystals. There is no right or wrong to doing this. Tape a crystal to your wrist or third eye; wear a glove with a crystal inside, slip it under your pillow, or even place some crystals under your mattress, forming a grid around your bed. Experimentation is the key. Just make sure to keep an accurate record of the crystal/gemstone you use, how you are using it, and the length of time within which you used it.

I wish you luck and I wish you love! Enjoy this new adventure in dreaming with crystals.

Become part of history: SL Coast Guard Opens Museum. Join us on February 4th at 12pm SLT

In 2005 a group was formed with a strong mission in mind.  The mission was to educate real life safe boating practices to the residents of Second Life.  And since this group formed, it has grown exponentially.  And now in its twelfth year of service to the SL grid, it has become one of the largest, and most active groups of maritime safety of its kind.  But, this was a journey that only the persistent and brave could endure.

The SL Coast Guard has endured and gone farther than the founder had ever expected.  The members of the group come from all over the globe, and from all walks of life.  This is a group entirely based on Volunteers who like mindedly share the mission to educate real life boating safety.  The stations and substations are located throughout the continents of the main lands of Second Life, and groups of regions that contain large expanses of open waters.

The SL Coast Guard has been active since the inception of the group.  The group has evolved to doing more than just boating.  They employ eight, both fixed and rotor, aircraft as well as having over eight watercraft from motor powered to sailing craft.  Every member is thoroughly trained on the operation of the vessels they use on patrols.  Along with boating and aviation training, their members also may take up dive, search and rescue, medical, leadership, and honor guard training.

On February 4, 2017 at Noon SLT, the SL Coast Guard would like to thank the residents of Second Life for their participation in keeping their mission going.  They would like to formally invite you to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony commemorating the years of their involvement in the open waters Linden Labs opened up for all to enjoy.  The dress attire is formal.

Please don’t miss out on this once in a lifetime event.  This is not just a history of the SL Coast Guard, but a history of us, the residents within Second Life.  Speakers to include:  Sanstrom Laxness, Tig Spijkers, and RJ Kikuchiyo.  And presentations of retirement to their retired Admirals and staff will be given out.

The museum is packed with a history of each of the stations, vessels both air and sea, and people involved in their journey.  But, none of this could not have happened if people of Second Life weren’t out on the waters, or in the air.  Along with the rich history the SL Coast Guard has forged, they have been able to create relationships with various landowners, and have been involved with other groups who share similar visions.

GeekSpeak SL – what will happen after the technological singularity? Join the discussion Jan 28th at 12pm SLT

What will become of humans in a world run by superintelligent AI?  What will the average person do if everything he or she wants is provided instantly?  Will we still make works of art?  Study history, do scientific research, compose music?  What will we do with our time?  Will we lose the ability to do the simplest things?  Will we eventually die out because there is nothing for us to do?

Will humans trust AI to do all their thinking for them?  Will we be able to think critically at all?  If AI provides us with all our information, all the news that is ‘guaranteed’ not to be fake, will there still be room for that one person who sees with their own eyes and thinks with their own brain?  Will anyone listen to such a person, or will they let AI do all the thinking?

Are we building a golden cage for ourselves, a cage from which there is no escape?  Does it matter if we are?

Come and do some critical thinking about our digital friends.

Diva Stone –Gloomy Tuesday By Mackenzie Abbot

In the early hours of Thursday morning, the 26th of January 2017, I was just about to go over the edge of consciousness into the realms of sleep when my Skype pinged. And I saw the words I never ever imagined I'd ever have the misfortune to cast my eyes over.

“Diva passed away last night. Just thought you should know.”
My initial reply was “Stone?” I was dozy and later remembered that I didn’t know any other Diva’s. And then the call came.
She had been found at home after not responding to skype and phone calls, and not showing up for work that morning.  Her Master had called the police and they gained entry to her apartment. She was just 34, way to young to be taken from this world.
I’m not totally sure if it’s the numbness from the news or the fact I’m getting old, but I cant quite remember how Diva exploded in to my life.  All I know is she did, and she stayed, beginning 2 years of a friendship that I treasured each and every single day, and still do even though she’s gone.
During bouts of late night SL’ing, I'd often chat with her before a show and she was always nervous, something she went on record about in an interview I had with her for a feature in the SL Enquirer a few years ago. We skyped a few times and I could hear the warmth and love she had for life in every breath.
She gave her everything with every performance and, as one of her harshest critics, I got to know subtle clues that gave away that she wasn't quite well or not in the right frame of mind that night. To most people, including die hard fans, this wasn't evident in her performance and she would sometimes cover it up with that high to low “oh oh ooh whoa” thing that people like Christina Aguilera do in most of their songs.
She always gave 100% in everything she did, and told peoples stories in song. You didn’t care where she took you, you were just glad she did. Yes, sometimes she strained to get some notes. Yes, sometimes she missed them. But you know what? Nobody really cared. She snared you in from the moment the notice went out to the time she stopped.
At time of writing, details are still sketchy, but the one thing that is certain is that never again will I hear the words “Mackenzie, I see you Papi, hugs your face” nor will any of us ever hear that voice grabbing you by all your senses and french kissing you into the ground until there's nothing left but pure and utter pleasure.
Diva, I never knew your real name and, in all honesty, I don't care.  To me, and your hundreds of fans in Second Life and real life, you are nothing but the true Diva. You’ll live on in our heads and our hearts. You leave a huge hole that will never be filled, but your talent towers over that hole, filling it with the memory of your gift for song, story telling and love.  If there's a heaven, there's going to be one hell of a show up there tonight.  I hope Whitney and Lady Ella take good care of you.
If life is a game of cards, somebody is cheating.
Fly free, sing sweet and, when my time comes, save me some front row seats.
We won't forget you Babygirl.

Gold Piggy

Increase Traffic and $ Earn Free Lindens by clicking the Gold Piggy and teleporting around and visiting Locations. Click the Gold Piggy and wait 5 minutes then get paid 1 L$ or more. Owners pay a total of 2 L$ one to the visitor and one to the creator per person, per click. Owners increase their traffic by getting visitors to visit their lands and visitors get paid 1 L$ or more just for visiting.

To have a customised longer waiting time or giving out different amounts of lindens then contact Kaitlin Rayna to discuss. Please note there could be a small fee to customising changes.

How it works for Visitors:

When a Gold Piggy is active and has a budget, a visitor will come and click on the Gold Piggy they will be asked a bot question that they must answer so no bots and no cheating. If they get the question correct then they must wait 5 minutes before getting paid 1L$ or more depending on the Gold Piggy and the budget the land or store owner sets. In this waiting period visitors can look around the store but must stay within a range of 20 meters. If they wander too far then the Gold Piggy will reset.

When the visitor gets paid their lindens they will then be given a suggestion of the next random Gold Piggy location to visit, if they have visited all locations then they will be not given anymore suggestions and must try again the next day. The Gold Piggy has a memory and will recognise who has been paid for the day so after they been paid their 1 L$ they cannot get more until the next day when the Gold Piggy resets within a 24 hour period.

Land and Store Owners:

To land and store owners please note that Gold Piggy is a traffic tool only and is designed to help generate traffic and drive visitors to your land or store. It does not guarantee that any of the visitors that come will buy anything, that is not how Gold Piggy works. If you are expecting all the visitors to come and buy something then Gold Piggy is not for you.

To be part of this new Gold Piggy network just rez a Gold Piggy on your land and add a budget, when the Piggy gets the permissions it will automatically update on the database and your land or store will be in the list of locations for visitors to come visit. Please note if you don't put an active budget in the Gold Piggy and the Gold Piggy is switched off then your land or store will no longer display in the database and will not show on the website. For your store or land to be shown to visitors it has to have a active budget and the Gold Piggy needs to be switched on.

There is the new website:

After being paid your lindens you will get a suggested location of the next Gold Piggy to visit. To join the Gold Piggy Hunters Group then please contact Kaitlin Rayna for an invite.  To stop cheaters and bots all members who wish to join must have a SL picture, text and groups showing in their profile before an group invite will be sent out.

The group is for discussing Gold Piggys no spamming or advertising in the group, respect other members. If you break the rules you will be banned.

Any questions please contact Kaitlin Rayna for more information or the Piggy Guardians.

Gold Piggy Hunters Headquarters, Outpost and Advertising Centre Landmarks:

Just for fun why not dress your gold piggy up. I have made each Gold Piggy with a small different feature to attract more visitors. Why not surprise your visitors with a different unique Piggy every where they visit.

For example check out the Gold Piggy at the Advertising Centre I have put a pair of funny sunglasses on him with moving eyes. Gold Piggy at the outpost has a sombreo hat on and the Gold Piggy at headquarters has a small pair of wings on. You could put something funny on your Piggy too that could help attract and promote more visitors to your store, land, club or business.

Your Piggy your imagination, it can be unique and the possibilities endless, but the ideas will come from you so why have a boring Gold Piggy, when you can have some fun and dress them up. So what are you waiting for grab your Gold Piggy today. Check out the piccys for more ideas.

Stand Off Software : Mysteries Afoot -Seersha Heart Reporting...

Do you watch detective shows on television and imagine yourself solving cases?  Do you feel being a detective would be fun?  If you answered yes to either of these questions, Lutra City is the perfect place for you to visit.  Using a HUD designed by Ilithios Liebknecht of Stand Off Software, you can become a detective in world when you go to Lutra City.  It is a fairly simple process.

Arriving at the landing point for Lutra City, I find myself right next to the French & Horn Detective Agency.  There is a large sign to the left of the door that reads “Detectives Wanted”.  Excited at the prospect, I click on the sign and receive a “New Detective”quest with a HUD.  This quest directs me various places so I may become acquainted with using the HUD.  The HUD stores inventory, analyzes, picks up, and stores items.  At the end of this quest, I have my detective’s license.

There is a bulletin board that has three cases to be solved and a different bulletin board with incidents.  For a small fee, you purchase the folder to one of the three cases then begin your detective work.  Compared to various hunts offered in world, these cases are quite the bargain at 190L.  The cases available are Delinquent Daughter, Silent Slasher and Fractured Fraternity.

Described by the developer Ilithios Liebknecht, each case is different.  Silent Slasher is a whodunit murder mystery where during your investigation you uncover a sinister twist.  In Fractured Fraternity, you infiltrate and take down a gang of organized criminals trying to move into Lutra City.  There are also a couple of free incidents to visit.  Ilithios Liebknecht describes the difference as cases are feature length games that you should not necessarily expect to get through in one sitting. They are more difficult than incidents and have a more complex story.Incidents are pretty short and can most likely be completed in a single sitting.  I asked Ilithios to answer a few more questions for us:

Seersha Heart:  Are you working on more cases?  When might they be available?

IlithiosLiebknecht :I'm not currently working on a case for SL, but I am working on a stand-alone PC game featuring the setting and characters from the games here. Expect that to be released in 2017. There will also certainly be more cases here in SL this year.

Seersha Heart:  Do you make any other products in addition to the detective series?

Ilithios Liebknecht: Not at the moment but I do have plans for other types of games and game-related products that I will bring to SL. Keep on the lookout.

Seersha Heart:  What would you like to tell people about playing the cases?

IlithiosLiebknecht : My intention was to bring full featured adventure games to SL that are not over-simplified for the platform and I think I have largely succeeded. They are not just hunts or a walk in the park type game but are truly challenging. You will have to reason your way through sometimes quite complex puzzles which makes it even more rewarding when you finally crack the case.

It's much easier if you bring a friend or two. or five. Also, you can call out in the group to see if anyone is available to help if you get stuck. Many people have completed the games at this point and many are willing to help.

Seersha Heart:  I was there a deep dark secret with the name of the city.  What does Lutra [the name] mean?

Ilithios Liebknecht: Lutra was the region name chosen by LL. It's a genus of otter.

Seersha Heart: *laughs* Otter know that one.  Do you have any other SIMs?

Ilithios Liebknecht: I do.

-- The Adventure Game Nexus showcases the best adventure games and adventure game creators in SL.

-- Stand Office Space is a small office building where people can rent an office in SL.

-- Pickle Pub is a live music venue. Not a lot going on there recently though since the games took off at Lutra.

Seersha Heart: I am interested in the mystery writers and developers in SL.  I recently did an article on the author of the AFK series.  Have you heard of Huckleberry Hax the SL author who writes detective novels that are based in SL?

Ilithios Liebknecht: I have not but sounds like something I should certainly look into. That sounds fun.

Seersha Heart:  Any final thoughts for our new detectives playing the games?

Ilithios Liebknecht: Asking in the group or even asking others walking around in the city who look like they are doing the same game is highly encouraged.  I very highly encourage people to help each other.

Seersha Heart: Thank you for your time Ilithios.  I am currently working on Delinquent Daughter and having a great time.

You might wonder what happens if a player contacts Ilithios while on a case.  He has a firm *I don't give hints* policy.  His words on this no hint policy are : “I don't give hints because I kept getting IMs day and night with hint requests so I had to just enact a strict no hints policy for myself. But that only applies to me. Asking in the group or even asking others walking around in the city who look like they are doing the same game is highly encouraged. So my personal no hints policy isn't to try to force people to not get hints, just not from me :-)”

You must struggle through the game with only your own wits or the help of a friend.  The games are hard enough to be challenging but not so hard as to put someone off.  I found that after one sitting, stepping away from the game for a short time helped my solving perspective.

If you want to experience real adventure games in world, visit the city of Lutra and get your detective’s license.  There are mysteries afoot for you there!

A Second Life. A Safe Harbor from Domestic Violence.- Silkysoulstar Reporting…

In 70-80% of intimate partner homicides, no matter which partner was killed, the man physically abused the woman before the murder.

Somewhere in South Florida diesel fumes could be smelled in the air while the loud Motor Coach bus rattled, and Faye said goodbye to her husband. She waved to him unremarkably even though she was still a little frail and exhausted. Her mind was in disrepair, but resolved as she rolled her suitcase to the busman to throw into the space underneath. It was a dark night with no moonlight at all, and the red and blue lights of police beacons were spinning in the distance away from her own situation. She climbed into the bus to find her seat, and left him. Finally.

Weeks earlier, her husband had come home with prostitutes. Faye, malnourished to skin and bones, weakened, tired, unwashed, and beginning to feel sick dutifully took off her clothes as the prostitutes denuded with her.  The rented women fawned over her, all together naked on a carpet that had not been vacuumed in ages.  They fussed over her pretty, yet stringy and clumpy hair.

The three women kissed and coo’d together, panting incessantly while he watched. Two of them professionally teemed outwardly like wild felines preying for sexual mating. Faye submitted willingly and survived by kissing back, flicking her tongue inside the mouths of the painted Cougars who ordered it.  Her husband delighted in the hookers inflicting their wills on her.  They restrained her, fiddled with her clitoris until she screamed, and then forced themselves onto her face and demanded her to lick them furiously until they faked their own climaxes for him.

After having sex with the women, he left her in the house alone.  He would spread his corruption across the rest of the night somewhere. She convinced herself it was a good night and that she even enjoyed the company. Faye put herself together, finding some clothes to wear on her broken body, possibly just a t shirt and jeans that were the only kind that she had that fit her just the way she liked. She took stock in anything that would comfort her, no matter how small, to build up just enough strength to log into Second Life.
She heard him come home hours later before dawn. Drunk. He told her that she was so pretty and that the other girls loved her, but he loved her more. She went AFK from her Second Life while he took her to the bedroom and began to have sex with her. She let him have his way with her because he seemed nicer than earlier that night, and she flashed back to the image of the strong police officer she had fell in love with, and then married.  His compliments were nothing in the grand scheme of things, but they were something in that moment nonetheless, and she had conditioned herself to find value in anything no matter how insignificant just so she could put up with her growing insanity.

She let herself fall into this cycle of abuse, and became conditioned to a degree of disheveled fitness to withstand it. How could she escape it? After all, they shared their lives. Their home, relatives, finances, worldly resources all were commingled. And wasn’t all this her fault anyway? She could see and feel herself getting less attractive. Certainly that’s why he began to bring home the prostitutes. He still also said often that he loved her.
He passed out next to her, exhausted and drunk from his disgusting midnight galavants unable to finish having sex. She laid next to him in the bed weak, and feeling heavy. The sort of heavy feeling that hurts and comes from a depressed lifelessness. She thought of anything pleasant about her life, and reminded herself that he was somehow after all taking care of her. Comforted by her fabrication, she fell asleep.

She stayed laying in bed, absent of energy in the morning as he heroically shook off his headache in front of her, and headed off into the world to serve and protect. She pushed herself to get up after he left. During the day Faye worked professionally from their computer at home. Her performance with her work was suffering, though, as a consequence of barely being able to keep herself together, but she mustered up the effort over and over again to recover whatever missteps she had taken. Slow to get tasks done, she concentrated on them fiercely one at a time to finally squeeze out her assignments. Her ability to multitask had long been destroyed. Somehow they kept her around, maybe even forgetting she was there to be let go. She had this at least.

Faye’s husband laid passed out in front of the television from all of the beer he had drank. He wasn’t an alcoholic, but a full week of work and erratic sleep coming from leading a life in the fast lane had caught up with him. She was online in Second Life while chatting with a girlfriend via Skype, living her alternative life to pursue both relief from her reality, and her fetish for submission.

The time she spent in the Second Life world was typically later at night while he was out, or after he had fallen asleep, perhaps drunk. Sometimes he beat her, and sometimes he just held her roughly while demanding his points. His mind was so clouded from everything he was seeing or doing in his own life that he had no judgement that restrained himself from hurting her. Sometimes she just escaped with the laptop to the bathroom. She hid everything she did on the computer from him, even sending her chat logs and other game viewer data to secret file folders that were not obviously found on their computer. She was fortunately much more skilled with computers than he was.

Faye joined a group of women that gravitated toward one Master in Second Life, and met Katrina as one of her sisters. As Katrina got to know Faye, and chatted with her, she sensed that things weren’t well. Faye was getting obsessive about her avatar’s appearance, and she was also terribly eager to please her Second Life Master in ways that, well, just seemed off.  Katrina began to get concerned, maybe even a bit fearfully.

Besides her friend’s obvious communication patterns that signaled distress, Katrina was having flashes of disturbing images. In her mind these were foreboding premonitions. She saw clearly the trunk of an off duty police officer’s car, with guns and punishing instruments inside. She felt strongly that her Second Life friend was destined for a violent death. He would possibly beat her, shout at her, and kill her.

Once Katrina approached a Second Life acquaintance and pleaded with her to take her loved one to the doctor. To the woman, Katrina was behaving irrationally, and her hysterics almost made her unfriend her.  The woman’s loved one was feeling under the weather with flu, not seriously ill. However at the doctor after all, they found cancer in her that was treated so that she could survive it.

Another time, while helping a new friend learn basic Second Life skills, Katrina begged her SL newbie to stay at home in Real Life after she had indicated that she needed to log off suddenly.  Katrina urged her new acquaintance to not take her children shopping, even though her new acquaintance did not tell her that she intended to do exactly that. Katrina kept the young mother online long enough, appearing hysterically irrational again now to someone she barely knew. Eventually as things got extended, the woman quit her Second Life viewer to put her children into her car to drive out on their errand. The road to the shopping plaza was blocked from the clean-up of a frightening scene where cars had crashed disastrously only recently. The event shook up Katrina’s friend so terribly that she went home and sat on her bed holding her babies tightly. Without hearing back, Katrina stayed up all night feeling shock inside herself that created a vision of her friend safe at home on the bed, with her children.

So as Katrina has learned to cope with seeing images that seem to be mostly from panic-stricken, or tragic moments, she desperately still tries to help people avoid the dangers she envisions.

Katrina told Faye she could see peril, harm, and depression in Faye’s life, and Faye told her she was right. The feeling inside Katrina was growing so strong that it hurt herself. Violence was coming to Faye. She could see very certainly that loud conflict, brutality, and death would happen one night to Faye. It would come from the hands of her husband, as he would use the objects and weapons in the trunk of that car that she could so clearly see in her mind. She pleaded with Faye to address her dangerous environment proactively, but Faye had to escape her brainwashed condition and see things for herself before Katrina could help her.

Over a period of weeks, Katrina mentored Faye via Second Life and Skype, reinforcing to her that she was a beautiful and intelligent woman. Katrina reminded Faye that being the submissive in a relationship did not mean greeting infatuation without strength. Submissives do not need to be walked all over recklessly by a Dominant. For Katrina, teaching was a way to reach out and get a connection to Faye so that she could help her, and fortunately Faye gladly gravitated toward Katrina’s care.

One night during a group session via Skype, the reality of Faye’s situation began to outpour. The violence. The depression. The forced sex with prostitutes that she had convinced herself that she actually enjoyed. During that night when her personal life cracked wide open to her Second Life group members directly in the Skype conversation, a cloud impairing Faye’s judgement to defend herself also began to lift at the same time. Faye began to cry as the group also began to realize the tragic nature of what they were hearing.  Fountains, rivers, streams, oceans of tears began to flood Faye’s cheeks. Group members online felt quite shocked by the thought of being so close to someone that was being hurt so badly in ways they had only heard statistics previously. To Katrina she felt relief that a sense of caring, from the progress of hours of contact with Faye was finally beginning to produce a desperate rescue.

Katrina began to make even more progress helping Faye understand that every bad situation can be solved. There was an aunt several states away, and a plan to file a restraining order against her husband just prior to escaping.  But first Faye needed to get her strength back, and like a true caregiver and nurturer Katrina ordered Faye to drink, shower, put on makeup and repeat positive reinforcement into the mirror every day until she was ready.  Instructions at times were so very basic; Start slowly. Put one sip and one bite of food into yourself. Your body can’t handle a full meal immediately.

Faye stood up for herself at work when finally faced with a certain dismissal, and she was able to extend her employment enough. Her performance improved just slightly and she felt better about that. She built up the the nerves to convince her husband to let her visit her Aunt. Somehow he agreed to her travel, not suspecting his wife to have any confidence or self awareness whatsoever to pull off a daring escape.  Perhaps he thought it would be even more time for him to break from the situation, and to abuse more prostitutes directly. We don’t know.

But the night came for Faye to board that Motor Coach and leave him forever. She thanked God she never got pregnant to give birth to a son her husband had always wanted. When she left and filed for divorce, it hurt his pride terribly. But she was several states away and with the restraining order there wasn’t anything he could do.
One in every four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime.
Faye survived the violence of an abusive relationship and her personal rebuild is still underway. She will likely have emotional scars that will never disappear in her lifetime. But she is alive, and has Katrina and her Second Life to thank in part.

It’s ironic too, to think that she was so weak to submit herself to the abuse willingly and repeatedly, but in fact she was after all strong enough to withstand it, and then to eventually escape it.  There’s safety and strength in numbers and community to help us, but there’s also a strength inside all of us that we should never forget can also save ourselves. Sometimes it takes someone special to remind us, no matter how untraditional the contact might be.
