The 8th Annual Sunburst Premier Grid Ent. Caribbean Carnival 2017 is on the way! Sept. 1st-2nd 2017

The 8th Annual Sunburst Premier Grid Ent. Caribbean Carnival 2017 is on the way!
I have good news and bad news.  Let’s get the bad news out the way first: summer in the U.S. is more than half way over.  The good news is that can only mean carnival season is about to begin.  There is excitement building for this year’s Caribbean carnival which is currently in preparation mode.  The SPG Ent. Caribbean carnival annually has been the largest Caribbean carnival on the Second Life platform.  The carnival weekend will encompass two days of acknowledgement and celebration of Caribbean, Afro-Latino, and Pan-African culture.  This year’s festivities will be held on September 1st and 2nd of 2017.

As the entertainment lineup is being secured, I’m excited to announce the addition of the (best Caribbean DeeJay’s on the grid), Break Beatz Entertainment’s (BBE), Reggae Team of DJ’s Cinfull, Grock, Andre Dvere, Vixen, Fifty, and Raidous as the featured DeeJay’s for this year’s Caribbean carnival!Premier host Tasty Temptation will be hosting the full carnival weekend. Also this year will be our 2nd Annual J’ouvert event to be held on the streets of the Allen Community (Friday, Sept. 1) to kick off the carnival weekend.  Thank you to DJ Grock for allowing Sunburst Premier Grid Ent. to host the event at his community.  DJ’s Cinfull and Fifty will bring the party celebration to the streets.  This year the King & Queen of carnival contest will be held at the J’ouvert event at the Allen Community.  Winners will receive $1500L each!  Dawnie Garside of Dawnies Soul Food will be providing Caribbean food for the festivities.

Our sponsor drive for this year’s festivities is well under way.  If your business, organization, Greek org, or as an individual want to become a sponsor of this year’s Caribbean carnival, feel free to send me an in world message or on Facebook of your interest and I will get back to you that day with more information.  Finally I want to take this time to thank the businesses who stepped forward this year to sponsor this great cultural celebratory event.  This year’s 8thAnnual Caribbean Carnival is presented by Glam Couture & ParVent Inc.  and thank you to the following sponsors who we owe this year’s Caribbean Carnival to:

The SL Experience through My Friend's Eyes - Shon Charisma reporting...

Every resident of Second Life experiences it differently. It's the beauty of the sluniverse, a vast place full of wonderful, engaging, unique goings on. AND the ability to create the life and space and places you might want to be a part of. My experience has been a fully-lived one that has brought me closer to my faith, that has expanded my family (even into first life), that has helped me recapture my love of video and storytelling, that has educated me on research interests of mine (race, online spaces, and identity), and that has brought me my wonderfully-awesome SL mate (love you, Earth!).

Recently, I snagged a dear friend of mine, Sweetz Fierenza [check her out on Facebook], and talked to her about her experiences in-world. She's been in-world a year longer than me, 4.5 years, and that time has shown that many of the experiences found in-world mirror what's experienced in first life.

In Touch with Director, Producer, and Writer Ambrosia Lanley - Shon Charisma Reporting

About a month or so ago, I received a notice from a group that mentioned a new SL movie premiering, and right off the bat, I was intrigued. I love machinima and the multiple talents -- writing, acting, producing, directing, and editing -- needed to develop a great movie. I immediately contacted the director of the movie, Ambrosia Lanley about the premiere, and in that conversation, I knew I had to feature her and her work. Ambrosia Lanley's work . . . and the woman herself . . . is intriguing, engaging, appealing, and dynamic. Come, sit a spell, and learn more about Ambrosia as she talks about her latest production, her inspiration, and more!

Spotlight on Inarra Saarinen and Ballet Pixelle- Shon Charisma Reporting

One of my favorite things to do on the grid is dance. Early in my three years on the grid, dance meant going to the club and clicking the animations in my inventory. Over the years, dance became a serious business, practice. It became precision, it became listening to the music closely so that I could make movements with the music that told a story. My love of dance, of music, of telling stories with dance showed its face a while back when I interviewed some great women in dance for SLE. When I was asked to do the spotlight feature on Ballet Pixelle® and talk to BP's artistic director and choreographer Inarra Saarinen, I was more than thrilled to jump in and learn more about this dynamic, unique dance company.

So You Think You Can Choreograph? ~ Shon Charisma Reporting

One of the first things I did on the grid when I finally decided to stay was dance ... badly. I had my couple of free, not that great dances, and I ran to clubs to get my groove on.

Two years later, as a founding member of Unity Productions, I find myself buying dance animations like they are going out of style and spending a great deal of time choreographing for performances.

Second Life Avatars And Social Networking ...Pandora Drezelan Reporting...

Social networking sites are widely used by both our real life selves and our Second Life avatars to connect with friends and family, to advertise our businesses or ourselves, and for recreational purposes. In real life, many use these sites to brand themselves, to create an image, a personality. Do we do the same thing for our Second Life avatars?

SLE Staff Interview- Meet Shon Charisma

You have read their stories on the SL Enquirer. Now it's time to meet the writers behind them.

Please meet Shon Charisma:

Shon Charisma

How would you describe yourself in 5 words?
Shon: Funny. Talented. Sincere. Creative. Intriguing.

What brought you to Second Life and how has it impacted you as a person?
Shon: I came to SL for a RL college class a few years ago, and actually, I hated it. LOL I came from the class and left. A few months later, I returned and began to move around the grid and check some things out and decided to stay. The biggest impact, and it's not a really positive one, lol, is that it's made me doubly busy in my overall life. Just like in RL, I have a whole set of friends that require attention and too much work to do. Ha! A positive, however, is that I have had the opportunity to be a part of experiences that I have yet to do in the real world, such as help put together Broadway style plays and performances.

Stories from the SL Dating-Relationship Trenches -- Shon Charisma Reporting

In Second Life, we can do practically anything, and most of the things we finally settle down to do in earnest are the same things we do in our real space. We work to get the body we want. We buy clothes and accessories that make us look good (relatively speaking, that is). We purchase homes. And while we're in the midst of "getting ourselves together" here on the grid, we also find love, build relationships, get married, have kids, develop a family. I might be one of the very few who never thought about having a relationship in-world. I have children and grandchildren--am even a godmother to a few, but never thought about finding a mate...for what?

And then I met someone who actually made me want to chunk a part of my day just to dedicate to her, and I then, like a million-watt light bulb going off in my mind, realized that it's not that surprising we'd want to connect with others in-world in deep ways: to date, get to learn about others, to make connections that have you wanting to build a relationship with just one person.

BUT...to get to that "building a relationship" stage, most SL citizens date, and it's that SL Dating Pool where you can run into the right one, the wrong one, the crazy one, and the ones in between. I talked with a few SL citizens about the good, bad, and the ugly of SL dating and not only got good stories, but good advice for those jumping into the grid and looking for L-O-V-E.

Me and my Bae, Earth Nirvana

I asked a few SL citizens to share with me an SL dating/relationship story, good or bad, and offer some sort of advice to others jumping into the dating pool. I want to share some below...
