Dress for this party will be in the original Thanksgiving vogue - Pilgrims and Indians! So get on that "First Thanksgiving" outfit and come on over for a night of Motown Music to celebrate Thanksgiving - albeit a week early!

No Kid HungryCampaign for Thanksgiving: Reception Dinner November 20th 5pm SLT- Virtual Village Media, the Delicious Foundation

This Thanksgiving season, VIRTUALVillage Media and The Delicious Foundation have partnered up to support the SHARE OUR STRENGTH’S NO KID HUNGRY® CAMPAIGN [http://www.nokidhungry.org/] a RL campaign supporting the battle against child hunger in America. We kicked off the fundraising with a Grid-wide charity drive on the 10th and we've raised upwards of 40K$L and $100 USD so far.

On Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 5pm SLT, we are hosting a reception dinner to thank all the donors and sponsors who contributed to this noble cause. We would like to show our appreciation by feeding them as they have helped feed many children this holiday season with their generosity through Volunteering, Donations of Funds or Services, or Sponsorship.

There will be live entertainment, dancing, good music, giveaways, great company, fantastic drinks and a delicious gourmet sit down dinner and dessert buffet which will be provided by Evans Cuisine. Attire is semi-formal [Dress to Impress].
We have enclosed 2 tickets for you and a guest to attend our special event. Please be sure to R.S.V.P. for each person attending. Thank you.
We look forward to seeing you there!*

*Please be sure to RSVP as there is limited seating available for the dinner portion of the event.

Thanksgiving is Coming Soon! Here are some festive Holiday Hunts Happening Now in Second Life- Ceciliarosalie Reporting…

Thanksgiving day is a national holiday celebrated primarily in the U.S and Canada as a day of giving thanks for the blessing of harvesting and of the preceding year. Although it is mostly referred as An American holiday there are several places around the globe which hold similar traditions and celebrations for the day. Thanksgiving day has its roots in religious and cultural  customs. Strange as it may seem there’s not a fixed date for this holiday and dates vary depending on the exact country separately.

Let’s have a closer look on these different dates

Canada: on the second Monday of October , U.S.: Thanksgiving, currently celebrated on the third Thursday of November, Norfolk Island: Thanksgiving is celebrated on the last Wednesday of November and in Germany is in early October, though German festival is influenced by Christian religion.

Most families follow traditions begun on the first Thanksgiving, but many have their own traditions that they follow each year. The best thing about Thanksgiving is spending time with family. Many people live far from their inmates and travel long distances by any means of transport to be with their loved ones. Thanksgiving is the busiest travel day of the year!

Traditional foods are a large part of Thanksgiving celebrations. Many families include the entire family in the food preparation. Traditional foods include turkey, stuffing, gravy, sweet potatoes, cornbread, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce. Many people serve pie for dessert at the end of the meal. Popular pie flavors are pumpkin, pecan, sweet potato, and apple.

Many generous folks use Thanksgiving as an opportunity to help the less fortunate. Some people volunteer to serve food at homeless shelters on Thanksgiving Day and others donate to shelters or participate in canned food drives.

The Wishbone Feature!!!

Some families include breaking the turkey's wishbone as part of their celebration. The wishbone is found attached to the breast meat in the turkey's chest. After the meat has been removed and the wishbone has had a chance to become dry and brittle, two people each take one end of the bone, make a wish, and pull. Whoever ends up with the larger part of the bone gets their wish!

But what happens in SL on Thanksgiving day?

Just like in RL avatar families are gathered feasting and celebrating Thanksgivings Day.
As for my dear shopping addicts…

Almost every shop operating on the grid announces sales and great deals on that special Day. There are also some great hunts which are worth mentioning.

A Thousand And One Ways to Roast a Turkey: How do you Cook Yours? – Glossom Resident reporting…

Thanksgiving is one of the most celebrated holidays characterized by a gastronomic abundance and by a wealth of culinary traditions. It not only reflects the unique history of each cook, but also the rich diversity of America and beyond.

While the typical meal of the day consists of Thanksgiving nibbles such as turkey, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, pies made from seasonal fruits and vegetables, among others, how these foods are interpreted depends largely on who's cooking. Different family traditions and regional flavors make the Thanksgiving meal unique.

Thanksgiving is fast approaching, so it's time to get organized. Whip up your favorite recipes and get to work. But if you have not decided which Turkey recipe to use, we went around Second Life and asked some residents to share their own. Here are some mouth watering ways of cooking turkey to get you inspired. We would like to thank all who have shared their culinary secrets.
