The Guitar Museum of Second Life ©- Stareyes Galaxy Reporting...

Many sims in Second Life © (SL) are created as a homage to some phenomenon or another, in all walks of life.

Many times, these sites are a great way to educate oneself on the history and present state of the art of the topic at hand. Stareyes Galaxy went to see the Guitar Museum and to interview its creators, Bono Fouroux, Angel La Femme, and Veronica Weksler. Bono is a well-known guitarist himself, and Veronica sings live on SL. They sometimes have duo performances, combining their streams from The Netherlands and Ohio.

VMS News: The Bare Bones of It -- Fun, Music & People. (Interview with Bones Writer, creator and owner of TRAX)- Klarissa Huntress Reporting...

Nestled in the middle of a pretty sim is a unique and comprehensive source of live music promotion. This is TRAX, Live Music Resource Center.
TRAX owner and creator, Bones Writer, is a humble man who downplays his remarkable achievements both in Second Life and real life.  His idea for TRAX was to create and promote, “a level playing field where everyone has opportunity and there is no elitism, everybody getting an equal chance to promote and market themselves.”

Bones is a professional musician with thirty years experience in the music industry, as a session player for artists like Jimmy Crespo of Aerosmith, and Billy Idol, or in the thick of a current New York Rock Opera version of Dickens’ “A Tale of Two Cities.

MUSIC SPOTLIGHT FEATURE: Music Grove Academy Starts Classes on February 12th. Allen Eppenberger

Music Grove Academy of Performance is a lovely campus, designed by Indi Vella. The grounds are well thought out, with a number of focal points to hold your attention without being overwhelming. The most eye catching feature is the school building itself. The front facade is stylishly curved. But as you continue, you're aware of a distinctive piano shape, that the Dean, Adevina Citron-Gearz, is quite proud of. She has been involved with music in physical reality since she was young, and as a performer in Second Life since March of 2010.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: THE OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF METATUNES!

There are millions of talented performers in the world. Some play covers. Some play all originals. Some play both. When iTunes first hit the scene, it offered original artists, mainly the very well known, a great new way to get their music out to the masses on a solid, marketed platform with a huge name behind it. The problem was and remains, how does an unknown, independent artist get clearance to also sell their recorded cover tunes of the artists they love and admire? Well, Copyright Law is very strict! Compulsory Licensing, required for any artist selling any cover, can be obtained, but it's not always an easy process. Furthermore, royalties must be paid to the Copyright holder(s) which means even more leg work… and paperwork.

MUSICIAN MANAGER SPOTLIGHT on Michaela Rookstown, CEO of Starlight Oasis Music Management. “No One Artist Makes SL...There is NO BEST” Lanai Jarrico Reporting…

The Last Musician Manager that was in the blazin SLE Spotlight was asked these same questions and it was great to see them share similar values of Music Awareness in Second Life. Each Musician Manager that is successful at what they do is clearly dedicated to promoting their Musicians and is all part of the driving force that keeps the Music industry booming here in Second Life.

Through the years, I’ve met several musician managers. Some have unfortunately vanished and others have managed to stick around accumulate new and talented musicians to their booking list.

It is definitely an exciting time to be a virtual world junkie with a creative talent to share on a global stage.  Musicians have flocked to Second Life by the hundreds, yet there are just a handful of Managers that are hiding behind the scenes bringing Music to a sim near you. My job is to shine a big ol Spotlight on them.

Please meet this week’s Musician Manager, Michaela Rookstown

INSIDE THE SL MUSIC SCENE- The SL Music Scene is full of Amazing Talent, but it’s time to shine a spotlight on the Managers that make it all happen from behind the scenes. Meet Ms. Throughthewalls Moody – Lanai Jarrico Reporting…

This Week, the Music Spotlight Is On Throughthewalls Moody, CEO Of MUSIC NOT POLITICS and manager to over 30 SL Musicians.

When an SL Concert is in full swing and avatars are on the dance floor emoting, dancing and enjoying the show, there main focus is the rock star on stage belting out originals and or covers from the comfort of their own home studios or even garages and bathrooms, because of the awesome acoustics. Who really knows? I just know that there is some amazing talent being showcased in Second Life, mangers that work their prims off and I am all up in the shameless groupie section partying like a rock star.

Off to the side in these virtual venues, the musician manager quietly handles their business while taking in the show and observing the crowd’s conversation and atmosphere. These Avatars are the ones that put in most of the legwork to organize the amazing concerts and events we all go to and enjoy here in Second Life.

Besides managers, Venue Hosts are responsible for the locations these concerts take place and are a big part of what makes it all work. Together they promote and book SL musicians tirelessly across the grid for our entertainment, so I think tipping Managers, Hosts and Venues aside from Musicians is a big help to preserving live music in Second Life.

Since Hosts and managers spend most of their time in the shadow of the main attraction, they never really get recognized, yet they are just as worthy of it.
So with all that said,  I will be introduce you to some managers and hosts in the coming weeks that have a lot to say about what it takes to do what they do to get their artists known.

Gibraltar Takes Over the SL Music Scene with Moonlight Music

Over a month ago, SLE's illustrious president came to me and asked that I check out Moonlight Music for a piece. At the time, I had never heard of the company or of the talent that resided within the company. Since that time, I have met the CEO and premiere talent of Moonlight, Wolfie Moonshadow, sat in on sets from Moonlight's artists, and rocked it out on March 27, 2011 as the company joined forces with SLE to bring Spring Jam to the grid.

Moonlight Music CEO Wolfie Moonshadow

Needless to say, I am now a huge believer of Moonshadow's vision for Moonlight, the uber-talented band of musicians that make-up the company, and how this company will spread like wildfire across the metaverse.

When I heard about Moonlight Music and its stable of artists, I was instantly intrigued. Great singers--all from Gibraltar? And not only are they all from Gibraltar--a country that is only 3 1/2 square miles and that sits at the very southern tip of Spain--but also they are all friends who sing from the same recording studio? To me, that sounded like either great fiction or a rare, once in a lifetime opportunity. It seemed that just as The Beatles invaded America many decades ago, Gibraltar was invading the SL music scene in a big way with Moonlight Music and its rising stars.

The Intent of this article is to create a common ground in the SL Music Community. In favor of helping Venue Owner's, Musicians and fans to relieve the strain on high venue fees as well as educate the SL Public about the importance of working together to Preserve Live Entertainment in Second Life.
