FASHION - Miss Eagle's Rave 2011 - Schedule of events changes - Kelsey Moonwall reporting

Apparently there have been some updates with reference to the division of the candidates in the different evenings, due to some drop outs from some of the girls. For this reason we had to reschedule the evenings division, taking good care in splitting the participants into equal groups, in order not to have disparities.

For their coming outs, the girls will respect the subscription order, that is always available for consultation in this group, on Facebook or on the SLE Italia for italian language.

Ice Lords Win GOHA Championship

The Global Online Hockey Association championship came to a conclusion last night, as the Ice Lords finally elimanted the gallant Mammoth squad.

Season 11 went the distance, and when it was all said and done, the Ice Lords lived up to their name.

The Puckettes cheered non-stop and shouted lots of encouragement. I was quoting Obama's State Of The Union speech a lot, trying to work our President's speech into a hockey context. "The Ice Lords will out-build, out-educate, out-something else..." My sense of humor is such that I'm very lucky that I'm pretty.

Note that, in the picture, the Ice lords invited the Mammoth team over to pose for the pics I took, which I thought was kind of classy. Sorry the picture is somewhat dark, but I was sitting on the ice in a short skirt, and my emphasis was more Quickness than Quality.

Anyhow, congrats to the Ice Lords, your GOHA champions!

GOHA Playoffs Going Down To The Wire

Just a quick note to let you know that the Global Online Hockey Association playoffs are into their final games! The Ice Lords have the Mammoth on the brink of the rink, and can finish off the whole enchilada Tuesday night at 6 PM SLT right at Cleary Arena, which is located right here.

The Mammoth were on the ropes, but pulled out a gutsy win Sunday night to keep the dream alive. I was dressed as a Mammoth cheerleader, btw. Not "mammoth" as huge- I'm actually quite small- but Mammoth as in the hockey team.

It's the last game of the 2011 season, so hustle on down and check the puck out!

Again... yours truly is a GOHA cheerleader... a Puckette. Watching me shake it around should be more than enough incentive. Come on out and get Pucked!

Women and shoes: A love affair in pairs no different in SL than in RL ...

For women shoes can become an all-consuming obsession. In RL some shoes can cost a fortune; yet while money itself does not bring happiness, a pair of new shoes brings on a kind of exaltation. Unlike clothes, shoes have a distinct advantage. Whether you're fat or thin, short or tall, beautiful or ugly, you can buy all the shoes your heart desires. They are capable of making you feel sexy, elegant or sporty at a single stroke. But in Second Life the fat thin rationale does not fly, yet we are still as obsessed about our shoes as we are in RL.




In RL we all aspire to owning Hermes, Gucci, Caovilla, Ferragamo, Blahnik, Laboutin, in SL it is Stiletto Moody, Maiyterya and FM Shoes.



Our intimate relationship with shoes begins shortly after we learn to walk. As soon as we want to feel "grown-up," we slip on a pair of our mother's shoes, preferably high heels, instantly heightening our sense of what it means to be female. And then what happens? We grow up and get to be the same size as Mummy and our personality begins to assert itself with the first independent purchase of shoes. As adults, we ask shoes to be our representatives. At any given moment, they are indicators of our age, mood and desires.

More than anything else, women's shoes speak the language of sex. You don't have to be a moralist or an anthropologist in order to understand the message transmitted by a girl in a pair of rubber-soled loafers versus one wearing noisy stilettos. But that's only a first impression. That old chestnut (heels = sex goddess, flats = nun) is constantly challenged by variations in fashion and customs. And yet, one thing remains certain: a high-heeled shoe is the object of apparel that - more than any other - marks the difference between men and women.

Shoes have featured prominently in the popular female narrative, be they Cinderella's glass slippers (clearly a symbol of virginity) or the stilettos worn by the metropolitan predators of "Sex and the City" - women who share two great weaknesses: men and shoes.

What’s more what about all the options we have since we have the option of wearing skirts, pants, or three-quarter length pants and that opens up all sorts of shoe possibilities. Then there are the seasonal choices we have to make, i.e. in the summer, we can wear open-toed shoes, in the fall we can wear pumps, and in the winter we can wear boots.





So with that alone, we have to have a black, brown, and a neutral pair of each type. That is nine pairs right there. Those shoes also double as going out shoes. Then we must have nice shoes in the event we have to wear an evening dress somewhere. We have a pair for the winter and the summer. Then, we have our sneakers. We have our working out sneakers and our stylish sneakers. Then we have an array of flip flops and sandals. So to our men out there, you see how we easily rack up that many shoes. ...It’s all about options.

FASHION - Miss Eagle's Rave 2011 - Schedule

Given the large participation in this event we thought to divide the candidates into four groups, in order to avoid excessive overcrowding of the SIM and therefore avoiding that an usustainable lag affect the pleasure of the evening. The four events will ALL be held on Fridays in the evening at 21:30 italian time (12:30 SL Time) and will be a sort of semi-final from which the jury will select the top two ranked. The final evening will be on February 25th at 21:30 and will see the official coronation of Miss Eagle's Rave 2011 with its awarding prizes.

SFL In Action

A lot of questions were answered when the SFL formally kicked off action this month.

The Second Football League is the work of Romeo Torvalar and a staff of people dedicated to bringing a big-time American football to SL. They have worked tirelessly at this for a long time, and their efforts are now bearing fruit.

This paper in general and this reporter in particular are thrilled to see the SFL taking life. Nothing but good can come of it. Even if SL someday has football that has nothing to do with the SFL, they will owe the Romeo and company a large debt.

I'm keeping this brief, as I don't know how to do that (read more) thing with the new server yet.

What’s on Klannex Northmead’s mind?  If you stop in to the Bookworm Café in the Southern Tier, New York at 6AM SLT on a Saturday morning you will find out.  The gravely voiced Brit leaves no subject stone unturned: political, moral, ecological, philosophical.  Klannex takes them all on and tells you exactly what he thinks.  It’s a strong cuppa for that early in the morning.  But each time I teleport in, I realize this is not the top of the morning for Klannex.  He is eight hours ahead of me.  The events of the day, the week, and the year have had plenty of daylight time to sink into his brain: he has no need to hold back.  The coffee pungent atmosphere of the Bookworm is the perfect setting for his weekly Open Mic session, The Poet’s Plunder.

The North Pole, Off-Season

Stacey checks in from the North Pole.

Stacey, as you know, is part Smurf. Smurfs are of the Elf family, and thus have superb organizational and induistrial skill sets. Regular elves do all the important work, but Smurfs fill a valuable niche in North Pole society.

Stacey serves as the Minister Of Information for the North Pole. That, and her duties here at the Enquirer, keep her very busy. She is one of a select group who know if you've been naughty or nice, so I would recommend advertising with us.

She is also the editor at the North Pole Times, but you can only read it if you've been more gooder than you've been. Otherwise, it looks a lot like this paper.

This is actually me just banging out a few paragraphs while concurrently getting some use out of a cute picture I have of me waging the InfoWar at the North Pole Times. However, if you want to make sure the elves and reindeer aren't slacking, you can do a search for Santa's Workshop and check things out for yourself.

With all the new changes for 2011, it means keeping organized and staying focused. 

Since I am always busy and a mess when it comes to containing the flurry of emails and in world inquiries that come my way on a daily basis on top of being a college student and managing a household, a girl gets pretty dang tired and needs a little bit of assistance.

My only alternative was to find a personal assistant who can keep up with me and get the job done. With a month under his belt, He is already proving to be my very own Fonzworth Bentley without the tacky bowtie and umbrella. Not that I run him like D.Piddy runs Bad boy…

I love talking to people about their passion!  Through out Second Life (SL) you can find people who have discovered the productive and creative means to explore and express themselves – to virtually “find their bliss.”  If we are lucky, they make the fruits of that exuberance available to others.   Singh Albatros is not a stranger to the metaverse. He wandered onto the grid many months ago and, like many of us, didn’t immediately find a place that engaged him.  Returning to do research for a short story, he became connected with the writing community and was inspired by the possibilities of SL as a tool.  “Sikh Life” (pronounced “seek life”) was born out of Singh’s passion, inspiration, and commitment to his faith with its basic tenants of tolerance, service, and the inspirations of poetry and music.

GOHA Playoffs

Hockey Krishnas all over SL will be in Nirvanice this week as the Global Online Hockey Association playoffs are waged.

Rinks all over SL will be filled with Polar Bears, Icee Lords, Cobras, Wolves, Whales, Storms, and Mammoths, among other things. GOHA has North American and European divisions, and all of them are vying for suprem-ice-y this week.

GOHA events are staged in a variety of hockey rinks, all set in fan-friendly arenas. People are friendly. It's about 50/50 boy/girl there, as many of the skaters (and several of the better ones... Ashlene McMillian or something close to that had a hat trick at the game I was at last night) are female.

If you have an interest in ice hockey on SL, this is the best place I personally know of to check it out for yourself. Even if you don't like it, you can come there and ogle the Puckettes. The Puckettes are GOHA's cheerleaders, and yours truly is the short one with the dark hair.

By raising daily commonplace reality to the artistic dimension Pop Art accomplishes its transfiguration: it sheds light on what is closer yet often invisible to us and through such an artistic process it penetrates the meaning of life in mass society.

The identity of form and content in the advertised product undergoes a process of estrangement and reversal. In pop works of art the sexy element of images becomes disquieting, euphoria has a shade of melancholy, glamour and make-up are covered with a dim layer, precision is turned into provocation.

Pop Art has widened two key concepts of modern times, “double” and “dislocation”, and has highlighted mass media as the incessant producers of the double of everything. Most of our experience is the experience of the “other” reality, the one that the media have arranged for us and communicate to us.

Without going on for too long about my personal life, I'll share this with you. I've been rich and I've been poor, and it's better being rich.

One of the better parts of beig wealthy is Christmas. I get some genuinely cool stuff. My husband, who is somewhat of an oaf, has actually figured out shopping. I'm French, and- especially with presents- the French have a well-deserved reputation for being difficult.

So... he simply gives his check one week to our babysitter Ellen, Ellen then takes me to the mall, and I get whatever I like. I just have to act all happy and unexpectant on Christmas morning, and everyone goes home happy.

Last year, I got a lovely overcoat, a necklace, and a trip to Quebec. The year before, I really cleaned up... new Volvo (the nanny only chose the color for me, after asking me what color I wanted). My nanny has since gone off to Dartmouth, but the Colonel simply switched gears and now my kid sister and I are going to the mall this Saturday.

At 5 feet tall, Ballerina Stacey can still kick Kobe Bryant in the face.

You wouldn't have to hang out with me that long to figure out that I'm sort of a jock.

I'm the only one of my girlfriends who owns a hockey jersey. I'm the only person I've met here (outside of the people I met at the particular sims) who has watched a football practice. I'd have watched a football game as well, but I was in jail after a fistfight.

A good psychiatrist could probably convince me that I have some unresolved love-me-Daddy issues from my childhood, but I don't have time for that kind of sh*t. I just play a lot of golf, and maintain a level of fashion that makes Butch jokes not really work on me.

However, like any girl, I have a great deal of admiration for those who are Graceful. I'm not graceful, and say "Ooops" as much as "Hello" when I try to navigate a busy nightclub. It carries over into real life, as I was an awful waitress. You were getting your martini shaken, not stirred.

Of course, someone who plays on the computer as much as I do is bound to develop a little bit of manual dexterity, and a girl can use that skill to become a paragon of femininity. That's where this article is headed today.

There are certain girls who wield a bit more clout than others when people look at the Fairer Sex as a whole. Princesses, cheerleaders, diva-type singers, head nurses, Best Actresses and Supporting Aactresses, Miss (Your State Here), etc... if you're 8 year old daughter wants to grow up to be one, you know what I'm talking about.

SL ARTS & LITERATURE: Discovering an Ancient Celebration with a Virtual Twist.

The Yule Festival in OZLAND began December 10th and will continue through January 2nd , 2011. It boasts a vast array of events, an incredible festival site in the ruins of an Ancient Roman Fort, and a heart and celebratory spirit in the Celtic tradition. The Yule Festival is the first of eight such annual events produced by The Wild Fox Rovers that coincide with the Celtic Year. Poetry, Storytelling, Music and a Snow-person building contest all are part of this diverse celebration. This event caught my attention because of my interest in the bardic and oral storytelling traditions of the Celtic people. With the Festival being almost a month long, there is still plenty of time to catch the great events and enjoy the spirit of Yule in Second Life.

SPORTS & LEISURE- Winterfest 2010 Ongoing! Stacey Cardalines Reporting...

Winterfest just wouldn't be Winterfest without some Puckettes! They appear Saturday at 3 SLT!

Every year, a week-long celebration of the season happens in Second Life.

In 2010, the primary hub for Winterfest activity will be held at Chamonix City and hosted by Global Online Hockey Association. Dates are December 10th-December 18th.

We'll be hosting a ton of fun winter sports and music celebrations, including many big and upcoming SL favorites. The Lindens vs Residents will also have the traditional snowball fight events on two days.

Hope you can come join us in the fun! Yours truly is a Puckette, so I'll be hanging around all week! In a short skirt! I'm like really pretty, too! The other Puckettes are even prettier!

SPORTS & LEISURE-GOHA Season Ending Stacey Cardalines Reporting...

The Puckettes... if you need a laugh, the right wing of the cheer formation is Kacey and Stacey.

Last chance to catch the biggest hockey league on SL!



The Global Online Hockey Association is concluding their 11th season Tuesday night. Come on down and check out some virtual hockey!

Even if you don't like hockey, come down and watch yours truly do some cheerleading. I'm a Puckette...the short one, if you end up sitting in the Heavens.

GOHA runs a very well-done hockey league. They have nearly a dozen teams, all stocked with dedicated players. They have several top-notch arenas that don't lag badly. They have people like Jack Belvedere and Kayden Piers who work tirelessly to put forth a great product.

I've managed to gsther much of the sweet gear GOHA offers, mostly by flirting shamelessly with the league staff. Hey... I like jerseys, and try to get every one- home and away.

I love GOHA, and can't recommend it highly enough. If you want to play, they have constant training and rookie orientation. Everyone's friendly. You a girl? Girls play- and frequently star- in GOHA. Are you a Neko, or do you have a horse's tail? It's all good at GOHA.

If you like cheerleading, I'd recommend the Puckettes to you. It's easy to pick up, you get mentored by the veterans, and you end up with a bunch of cool outfits. I actually use the cheerleader HUD to dance in clubs, but I'm somewhat eccentric and feel dances should involve backflips.

Just want to watch hockey? Even better. There's plenty of room in the arenas, we have games nearly all the time, and the atmosphere is welcoming and hospitable. I even try to hand out coffee to the fans, as hockey arenas are cold if you aren't skating or dancing. I can guarantee that you will be appreciated.
