DEXLER CLUB CLOSES ON SECOND LIFE Nomads Aries Reporting…

July 25th, 2013 was a very sad day for some Second Life residents. It was the day the Dexler Club closed its doors. In SL, clubs come and go frequently and many venues fall by the wayside. A club's closing is not uncommon.

Dexler was a well established and long running club. If you have been in SL for some time, no doubt you have heard of the Dexler Club.

The Dexler club was owned by Karina Dexler and began in 2009. It wasn't long after that, Dexler took its place as one of the strongest, most professional clubs in the virtual world of SL. The club had a regular spot in the Destinations Guide; their traffic was “real traffic”, never padded by bots. Their music was varied; their djs and hosts were international and always professional. The staff treated everyone and each other with respect, politeness and kindness. Dexler ran like a well oiled machine 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until July 25th 2013.

Sunburst Premier Entertainment- The 5th Anniversary of Sunburst Blazin1.FM Caribbean Carnival- August 28-31st

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Shon Larsson, Owner/CEO
Sunday, August 11, 2013

Plans Underway for The 5th Anniversary Sunburst Blazin1.FM Caribbean Carnival
Sunburst Premier Grid Entertainment in conjunction with TheBlazin1.fm radio hosts its annual Caribbean carnival, and celebrating the 5th year anniversary of producing this event for the Second Life residents.  The events begin on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 and conclude with the main Caribbean carnival on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at multiple locations.

The Sunburst Caribbean carnivals began in 2008 when I noticed there were hardly any celebrations during the weeks of carnival in Second Life.  Since that time for the next 4 consecutive years, the staff of Sunburst Premier Ent. with the support of some of the most thoughtful and generous sponsors on the grid, have produced a day long full Caribbean carnival to the enjoyment of hundreds of SL residents to date.   Oohlala Sassoon, Owner of Ooh-La-La Skins responded when asked why does she want to sponsor this event: "Blazin' 1 FM has done so much over the years to contribute to bring Caribbean cultural awareness to Second Life, and it just makes sense to sponsor an organization that has shown this much longevity. I salute Shon's work and it just made sense to participate."

A Baker’s Dozen of Stareryes Galaxy’s Articles

A baker’s dozen is said to be twelve of today’s bakeries and one of yesterdays. This time, as Stareyes looks back on the dozen articles she has written before today’s one, it’s the other way ‘round.

I am just an ordinary girl, out there on Second Life © (SL) on my own. I have always relied on the kindness of strangers, and luckily, I have been able to stay out of trouble. Idling away just isn’t my style, and I have always been eager to find purpose in my ventures in SL.
It took a little over three years on SL for me to find a job that matched my abilities. In the beginning, I had just a few modeling gigs after which my funds were dwindling slowly but steadily. Soon, I felt that doing hunts and scouting for freebies was not the best way to go about Second Life. I started writing in the beginning of May 2013 when the Editor of SLE, Lanai Jarrico hired me on a free-lance basis. Since the first article was published, I have not looked back – until today.

Spotlight on TRESOR COUTURE; the Re-invention of Affordable Elegance for the Fashion Diva in Second life on August 16 ©- Orchids Reporting…

“The phoenix must burn to emerge.”
-       Janet Fitch(White Oleander)
The word "couture" immediately conjures up the image of a highly exclusive designer and clientele whose capacity for creation is considered highly unique and off the beaten track. Couture fashion in the real world and in second life to a great extent comes at an interesting decline in the pocket contents. Few people can really afford clothing at such prices. Fashion and taste is not an exclusive to any group. A fashionista may be lurking in the heart of that waitress making ends meet. SL is fantastic in its concept that anyone can be the diva which their heart sees for a fraction of the cost of real life. Here at Tresor Couture their main goal is to make high end quality fashion at affordable prices for the second life of the fashion diva. They have been here a long time and now it’s a time for re-invention.

Touring Educational Museum’s in Second Life- Tea Couturier Reporting...

In SL I decided to take in a bit of culture and see what SL has to offer on an educational aspect. I was pleasantly surprised to find places that I found fascinating and also interesting.

My first stop was the Andy Warhol Exhibition at University of Delaware.

Andy Warhol is perhaps most readily associated with silkscreened visages of celebrities ranging from Marilyn Monroe to Chairman Mao. But these represent only a small part of Warhol’s prolific oeuvre. Born in 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Andrew Warhol studied design at the Carnegie Institute of Technology (today, Carnegie Mellon University). When he graduated, he went to New York City, where he launched a successful career as a commercial artist and shortened his name to Warhol.
At the University of Delaware Andy Warhol: Behind the Camera is the first of several smaller exhibitions in the West Gallery that will examine specific facets of the University Museums collections. It gives you the opportunity to see his collection if you’re a lover of art when you may have never been able to.
A good place to have a day out.

Music in SL: Interview with Leo McLaglen and the Bands of Alts - Piers Diesel Reporting...

In Second Life we are a world within a virtual world.

People from across the globe, log into this virtual platform every day.  Others come here due to what they have seen in the news, heard in the media or are invited by friends.  Many people also come here to make money or just to socialize with people from all over the world that they may have never had the opportunity to meet in Real Life.

A Rock Star in SL and RL: Meet Wayne Davis- Tea Couturier Reporting...

In SL it is neat when you can find an artist who has performed in RL with other well-known performers. Whiles looking around for something to do in Second Life (c)  I came across Wayne Davis.  After his concert in SL, I decided to have a chat with him about who he was, not only in SL, but also in RL and also to learn more about his life in both worlds

BREAKING NEWS! There is a sloppy BOB THE BUILDER Griefer on the Loose!

SLE POLICE REPORT -Lucifer Skizm- 8/6/13

It has been reported to the SL Enquirer that a Bob the Builder type of griefer escaped from a local  SL quarantine  recently and has been running amuck across the grid. Witnesses say they saw what allegedly appears to be a local clown, Lucifer Skizm defacing property belonging to Glossom Jonesford.

Apparently Mr. Lucifer decided it was cool to take his shovel and start excavating land around a home that did not belong to him as well as board up windows and drop random objects and a  flea infested bed around like a slob.

The victim is shaken up and can’t imagine the atrocities that took place on that, in her quiet humble home. It appears this griefer used her residence to do his dirty deeds and leave his mark. Hazmat has been called to the scene.

Please be on high alert. Lucifer might be traveling with two goon accomplices; Annice coba and Demerol Texan. If anyone has any information on the whereabouts of this griefer, please don’t get to close.  Call your local pest control unit or take matters into your own hands by muting and banning this festering clown.

Vintage Fashion Finds a Home- Jenna Odisark Reporting…

For those into role play or portraying different historical eras you will be excited to find out that there is a new vintage and retro. One of the most difficult areas of doing role play in a vintage time period is to find the proper fashion to wear.

This new endeavor is a partnership with Old Time Prims and 1920's Berlin. Frau Jo Yardley and Mila Edelman have teamed up and are opened a new sim for supplying the retro and role play communities. The name is Old Time Prims.  It is a simple, basic straight to the point name, and one that is known as a place for vintage fashion for some time in Second Life. The new sim is striving to be the ultimate place to shop for vintage and retro clothes and items. They cover pretty much everything between the Victorian era and the 1960s.

Depression And Suicide In SL Part 4 - Road to Recovery – Talking to Voice Restless © - Orchids Reports…

Talking to the Two sides of … the Same Voice. Shadow and light are two sides of the same coin. One cannot exist without the other…
-Princess Zelda

There are two sides to all of us. We let the world see one side and one we don’t. Even the most open and honest one definitely has something … yes … something that you do not let the world see. You don’t lie but you do hide. The one who treats us, the physician, is also fallible. The person who rises out of those fallacies and sets out to help and the others, is one who has understood the true meaning of life. This is for all of you there who are doing so.

Professional Voice:

Orchids: Voice Restless in RL…

Voice: I'm a Clinical Neuropsychologist in training, hoping to get my degree somewhere in the coming year. I have always been fascinated by what is 'normal' and what is considered to be a 'psychiatric disorder', Where do you draw the line, when approximately 80% of the population comes into contact with a psychiatrist at least once in their lives? When are psychological problems 'normal' and when are they 'clinical'? And, more importantly, how can you help people when they suffer from psychological problems?

Most Memorable Moments in Second Life- sarahelisebeth Brenham Reporting…

Would you move to a new country for someone you have only known online? Is this idea dangerous? Could love like this last? Let's discuss this important topic.

Every good and bad thing that happens in our life shapes us to be the people that we are today and will become. While I am referring to Real Life in this statement, I believe this also applies to Second Life. Although SL is an online program, people do interact with each-other on it and therefore both of the positive and negative experiences that come from it, can Impact a person’s life in some fashion. I asked a group of five people on what their most memorable moment has been in Second Life thus far. Their answers range from loss to joy, but they all have one thing in common: Their experiences have affected the lives they lead outside of SL.

Fashionably Frugal is set to kick off Grand Opening on Monday August 5th from 4- 6 pm SLT with Black Soul Rhythms’ DJ Shine.

With a combination of tech issues, internet services being haters, and other unforeseen issues the grand opening set for July 27th was a bust!  However, we have great news Everyone!

That's SLife - by Lacy Muircastle ....

Dear Lacy, I have been in Second Life for over two years and have been in the dating scene just as long. Within my time here I must have slept with about 25 guys. As time passes, my interest in sex in SL has faded and doesn’t seem as exciting as it once was. I recently met a great guy that is so much fun to hang out with but he is interested in more. I am afraid if I don’t put out, he will move on. How can I bring back that desire again so that we can have an exciting relationship? Should I just fake SL sex to make him happy?

Struggling with SL sex

Breaking News: Meteor shower hits Kessel sim - Lacy Muircastle reporting ….

There are reports trickling through to the SL Enquirer media centre about a meteor shower that has brought with it an invasion of spider like creatures which appear to be decimating everything in their sight.

Your help is going to be needed to stem the tide, but be warned you need to come armed.  It is reported that the meteor shower is centered on the Kessel sim.

More news to follow as it comes in.

Adventures of Snake VI: Branching Out- Ccoursey Reporting…

Snake was DJ’ing for half the night then I would take over.  Poet was an absolute blessing.  He was already a valued member by logging in, volunteering ideas, and he was a hunter.  Where Snake would DJ and have a crowd of women, I would be surrounded by men and trying to push them the stripper’s way.  Poet was bringing women in, he was running interference and it felt like he was trying to look out for me when Snake would take off.  Snake did take off- often.  It bothers me the women he associated himself with were so quick to be alone with him, I would tell them he was a ‘dog’ and they were all over him.  *Shakes my head*  Poet and I discussed the club and clan, he became a true friend I valued and trusted.  He also was able to bring into clan his first blood doll- ‘Kimber’.

To Bare or not to Bare- Thoughts & A Peek at The Dare2Bare Hunt in SL©- August 1- August 31st- Orchids Zenovka Reports…

Nudity is said to be wrong. What embarrasses us about being nude? Why has nudity has become a perverted concept in a most non-sexy way?

The body has become taboo. We've got so many hang-ups with nudity; Baby photos are getting censored.  Cultural conditioning created the idea that nudity / nudism is sin. The media made nudity a perverted concept. A gown can be classy or indecent in the hands of a wearer.

Classy is being able to wear the skimpiest outfit you have in your closet but you carry it like a lady/gentleman.
Trashy is wearing whatever you find in  the closet , spreading your legs open and sitting waiting for whatever comes your way; drinking from a bottle.

Virtual Worlds Best Practices In Education 2013 Conference 2013-Beyond the Stage- Nomad Aries Reporting…

Over the span of July 24th to July 27th 2013, I attended one of the most eye opening and thought provoking events ever to convene on Second Life©, The Virtual Worlds Best Practices in Education 6th Annual Conference. Each day was jam packed with exhibits, presentations, films and festivities. It was difficult to pick a specific event or presentation to attend. Some presentations were so popular that venues were filled to capacity.
