STUDIO 777™ (CAPEX: FUN), Capital Exchange's largest IPO ever, sold out and joined the #1 Stock Market Simulation Game in Second Life®. The Company announced that higher sales and margins generated strong earnings growth and raised Shareholder dividends.

Celebrating Independence Day in Second Life

Pool parties, endless sunshine and fireworks is what Independence Day in the modern day is all about. However, at its original inception and the times prior, Independence Day holds a deeper significance on the timeline of American history...it represents the day that America declared its emancipation from the reign and taxation of the British Isle.

The original thirteen colonies grew weary of having to pay taxes to King George III as a voiceless entity in the British parliament. The colonies convened on June the 11th forming a committee that would pen a document declaring independence from the reign of the British monarchy’s tyranny.

Jefferson and his colleagues drafted numerous copies of the declaration of independence until it was perfect. On July 4th, 1776, the final draft was accepted, declaring the thirteen colonies free of the British monarchy. On the 8th of the same year and month, the declaration was announced to the public at Philadelphia Independence Square. On July 4th of the following year, the day was celebrated with bonfires, music, and reveling. In 1870, July 4th was proclaimed a national holiday in observation of the thirteen colonies gaining their independence.
The tradition of celebration continues to this day with grand scale firework displays in lieu of the bonfires, and the continued reveling with barbecues and picnics.

Last Saturday was the debut show organized by Nickle Sparrowtree. This was a special show, which was in honor of World Pride. The show also was a Relay For Life of Second Life fundraising event. Many raved about the show, especially the organization of Nickle. I caught up with Nickle to ask her a few questions about her modeling career and her thoughts on Second Life.

Commentary from SL11B- June 22-July 6th 2014- Lanai Reporting…

Can you believe that Second Life is just about to turn 11 years old?

For those that do not know SL’s actual birthday, it is July 6th 2003.

On that day it will be precisely 132 months and about 3,960 days. In Second Life time that is a virtual lifetime! Through the year so much has happened and so many changes have been made. Creative people have come and gone and countless virtual memories have been made; many of which echo through the community when we are reminded of the past 11 years and who did what. We each leave are mark in one way or another. We build friendships that spill into our real lives and many even fall in love. We are a virtual world community and together we have made Second Life what it is today. It is a unity that breaks boundaries and crosses borders. This virtual world is a mixing and mingling of cultures and imaginations unlike any other. Each day is a surprise waiting to happen as none of us know exactly what each day will bring or who we will meet. It is an escape from the routine of real life and the stresses that are included; an ultimate creative freedom of expression. In Second Life we make our own rules, follow our own paths and meet each other from the inside out.  Our choices and decisions are what dictate our experiences, how involved we are and how much of ourselves we want to share with others.  We are the essence of what it means to be a virtual community so this celebration is for you.

Happy Birthday Second Life and cheers to the community that shaped you!

The SL Enquirer wandered around SL11B  and asked some of the guests what brings them to Second Life. What they do and how has it inspired them in their real life. Here is what they had to say….

Introducing Nightmare House- Would you like to see this artist in Second Life?

Producer Bio
I started making music when I was 5, and started producing electronic music when I was 14. When I was introduced to the first ever electronic song I had ever heard, I knew almost immediately that I wanted to be able to create something that sounded like what I had heard. I was given an iMac for Christmas in 2008 and it came with Garageband, a simple to use music production software.

I used Garageband for a few years, which was a surprise to everybody who asked me what digital audio workstation i used, because Garageband is known to not be that powerful of a program. I gave myself the name "Nightmare House" in January of 2013, and shortly after that had 2 remixes I had done put on the massive network "Dubstep.NET" after they were discovered by the EDM duo CLOUD. I released my first original song on Soundcloud in summer of 2013, with an updated re-edit posted in December of 2013. Since then, I have accumulated over 51,000 plays on Soundcloud alone, and over 65,000 plays on Dubstep.NET's website.
