Stay Tuned for the new Date: SuperModel Fashion City Fashion Show 2014

Unfortunately during the SuperModel Fashion City fashion show the sim crashed on October 13th!
It was not a griefer attack. Linden Lab has confirmed this. It was the high volume of people it attracted.

Everyone wanted to see the event of the year! We certainly did not expect the turn out to be so successful and we thank everyone who came out to witness this event.
We' have decided to repeat the show and do it behind closed doors, while streaming it to youtube. We want to give people the opportunity to see it without technical difficulties.
Stay tuned for the new date!

Thank you

Company Puts Actors up for Auction to Keep Theater Live in (c)Second Life

Cookie, Second Life – Since its founding in 2008, Avatar Repertory Theater has presented live theater productions and presentations featuring live voice acting in (c) Second Life.  As they move into their seventh year on the grid, bids are open on their first ever Shakespeare By Request Auction.  From now until November 7th, visitors to the Company’s theater on Cookie can place bids on different members of the acting company for the chance to choose a command performance by that performer from the works of William Shakespeare. These performances will be presented at the Company’s popular “Plays Around” scheduled for Friday, November 21st at 5:00 pm slt

Panels adorn the patio outside the Avatar Repertory Theater, with the image of each actor or actress whose performance skills are up for bid.  Once the auction closes, the winning bidders will have less than a week to choose their selection from the Shakespearean theatrical canon for that specific player to present.  Winners can be as specific or general as they wish in their request:
·  Simply indicating the play they want, and let the actor find something from it.
·  Choosing a specific scene from a specific play
·  Requesting a favorite monologue that they’ve always wanted to hear this actor perform.

The setting will be simple, featuring Avatar Repertory Theater’s Shakespearean style performance space, which is often obscured by a variety of sets and settings for their biweekly ART Plays Around performances.

Bidding is open to all Second Life Residents.  Those who are less familiar with the company’s players can sample the company’s work at Plays Around performances scheduled for Friday, October 21st and November 7th, also at 5:00 pm slt.
Among the oldest artistic organizations of their kind, Avatar Repertory Theater’s mission is to bring diverse, live theater to a widening range of people through virtual performances, and to expand and challenge their own talents in the craft of acting using this unique media.  This has brought life to everything from first-time realizations of works by living playwrights, to major immersive productions such as their own adaptations of the classic Greek Drama Oedipus Rex (“Oedipus”) and the works of Lewis Carroll in "Alice in WonderSLand" and "Through the Looking Glass."

Proceeds from the Auction will help Avatar Repertory Theater continue to keep theater, performed live and in voice, a vital virtual presence.

Avatar Repertory Theater is a program of New Media Arts, Inc which has recently released its first Go Fund Me Video in support of their mission to develop graphical, theatrical, literary, educational, library and other fine and practical arts on the internet, in 3D graphical user interfaces, multimedia, new generation computing devices, and other electronic and digital communication media.

Living Your Lyrical Reality: Poetry Contest- Bimala Tagore Reporting

There is a beautiful Indian story it talks about Krishna, one of the innumerable Vishnu’s avatars, the preserver aspect of God within the Hindu Trinity. One day Yosada, Krishna’s mother, saw her little child’s throat and found an immense starry vault that absorbed her into an endless vision of constellations in the night sky. Yosada had full comprehension of the immensity of Krishna.
A single poem could be a magical deity throat that contains the Universe in the shortest possible space. A magical poem is like Krishna showing the cosmic form to Yasoda. A single poem could reach its most perfect literary expression in few verses.   It is a mysterious sphere that comprises the totally.
Poetry suggests instead of enounce.

Daily language or ordinary language is a different kind of expression. Used to agree with others, social purpose informing, etc. and it tends to schematize. Poetry is evocative like the blues that remind old memories. It provokes emotions in the reader and sometimes cloudy images. Poetry does not describe emotions, but it perceives. It means the reader becomes aware  directly through any of the senses. In poetry you could recognize feelings such as pain, anguish, etc., because the poet has become the best medium for expression. Imagine the silence that suggests displeasure between lovers. Poetry suggests instead of enounce.

Living your poetic reality
We want to encourage everyone to participate. Write some lines of verses after or before the snow falls. It can be a placid experience that has true bonding power. This is a perfect time to play on words. Everyone is welcome to join this competition. “We are Gitanjali Indian Society”, source of inspiration for this contest, and we are promoting poetry explicitly for avatars in this universe called Second Life.  This is our second contest and we hope steadily grown in prestige. The first prize is 10,000 linden and our reward is symbolic, because it really worth fighting for in terms of genuine literary accomplishment.
Write a poem, max 15 lines on any topic and in any style rhyming or non-rhyming. Participation is free and we accept only English language entries. The only condition is to join the group called "Gitangali Indian Society". When you have finished, you will send it to Bimala Tagore in a note card by IM. Enter as often as you like using one avatar per poem. Closing date on December 31Th 2014.  Winning poems will be announced in January.

We are expectant that we may receive your entries in soon. We have four judges and one of them is well known from the SL Enquirer.
We will feel honored to meet you all through your words. Good luck!

Interview with a Vampire - LadyLoveDr Reporting

Multiple mysterious sightings have been reported at various locations across  Second Life!  One witness detailed a white faced tall, dark figure with red eyes wondering around a seemingly abandoned cemetery.  Another witness spoke of a beautiful pale skinned woman he met in a bar who mesmerized him with the words she spoke.  His memory of what happened next is very vague and scrambled into bits and pieces as if he had been drugged.  His wife reported his disappearance after not coming from the bar. He remained missing for 5 days.  He finally came stumbling in at 11 am on the 5th day with a strange injury to his neck resembling the bite of a vampire.  After trying to contact his wife for a personal interview she replied with "no comment" and we later learned that her husband disappeared again one week later and never returned.  Many SL residents speculate, do vampires really exist?   Journalist LadyLoveDr decided to go deep into this dark world to uncover the truth and put an end to all the speculation.

The journey started with one simple question, 'If vampires do exist, where would I most likely find one?'  This question posed a more complicated response than I imagined it would.  I finally came to the decision of visiting the bar where the woman vampire who's words memorized the missing man had been.  I became a regular at the bar after being there nightly for 2 whole weeks.  By then, I was well known to some and pretty sure the others were under the impression I was an alcoholic.  I was finally approached by a woman I had not recognized at the bar before.  She sat down next to me and put her cold hand on top of mine.  I glanced over at her and as our eyes met I heard her say "We're ready for you now."  I sat there dumbfounded for a few moments.  I knew exactly who, or should I say what, she was.  I needed to stand my ground. I needed to be in control.  "What makes you think you're what I've been looking for?"  I asked her.

"You've been frequenting this bar for 2 weeks straight asking about us."
            "How would you know?"
            "I've been here watching you."
"No you haven't.  I would have noticed you before tonight."
"We're only noticed when we want to be."

She invited me back to her place.  I went willingly after making it well known that I was a guest and not dinner.  Once back in her domain I was able to obtain an interview with her and was granted permission to share it with the world to finally put an end to the famous question, 'Do vampires really exist?'

Interview with Alejandra Rassir

LadyLoveDr:  How would you define a vampire?

Alejandra Rassir:  Vampires are creatures of the night who are cursed by God to drink blood in order to remain immortal.

LadyLoveDr:  You told me you're in a clan, what is its purpose?

Alejandra Rassir:  My clan, Kindred Rose Noire, have a reputation for honesty, kindness and impeccable taste. Since the beginning of time our purpose has been to enforce the ancient traditions and shape the destiny of the Kindred. Currently we have 759 clan members that consist of vampires, lycans, and human hybrids.

LadyLoveDr:  Do vampires have any special powers?

Alejandra Rassir:  We have the ability to transform into almost any animal: bats, cats, dogs and smaller.  Some can fly or levitate, use hypnosis to mentally subdue their victims, and have the ability to hypnotize.  Most vampires are psychic, can predict the immediate future, use telepathy to read minds , and move objects by telekinesis.  We have control over physical pain, although any light weakens us and the sun causes terrible burns. All injuries can be regenerated when we go dormant.

LadyLoveDr:  Are you currently involved with anyone romantically?

Alejandra Rassir:  I have a great love that will last for centuries!  His name is Antonio Pointe Du Lac and he is also a vampire in the same clan.

LadyLoveDr:  Have you encountered any vampire hunters or vampire haters in the SL community?

Alejandra Rassir:  Yes, I've encountered vampire hunters.  I have personally killed some of them and tasted their blood on my lips.  I do not fear them, nor does any clan member of Rose Noire.

At the end of the interview I was treated to a tour of the Rose Noire grounds.  The architecture used to build their community is phenomenal!  There were things that scared me yet intrigued me at the same time.  Anyone is welcome to stop in and check it out, although almost all their members speak Spanish.  If you're an English speaking person like myself, I highly recommend picking up a free translator HUD from the SL MarketPlace.  They are always welcoming new members who want to take a walk on the dark side, be it vampire, lycan, or human hybrid.  So my fellow Second Lifers, do vampires really exist?  The answer is quite simple.  They always have.  Even for the speculators that will put denial at the top of their list.  They can deny all they want, but when it comes down to the cold hard truth, vampires are real.  Walking among us like normal citizens of Second Life.  They creep in the shadows hiding their real selves from the rest of the world and preying on the weak in order to survive another decade.  The next time you wake up in the morning and can't quite remember what you did at the bar last night, check yourself for the marks of a vampire because you might have just been someone's late night snack.

Grand opening of the New Art Exhibition from Trinity Yazimoto, “Fragments", on the October 19th at 12 pm SLT

.

Petit Chat Art Gallery  is proud to present you a new exhibition from Trinity Yazimoto : Fragments.
As she’s not the kind to reveal herself easily, she gives all along her artworks fragments of her soul, which came as pieces of a puzzle. Of course, she won’t give all the pieces but from what you will see in this new exhibition you will be able to meet some parts of her personality.

Fragments is divided in 2 sections : “reflections of a movie” and “other fragments”.
The new exhibition also inaugurates the new art gallery in Moumou’s Square.
Set under a beautiful south french landscape (created by Trixxie Nitely), the underground gallery hopes it will please your eyes.

REFLECTION OF A MOVIE :
When she went to university, Trinity Yazimoto decided to study Cinema. She followed this path for some years till she got a Master in Cinema Studies.
Among all the classes she could get, what fascinated her the most was the History of the cinema. She discovered then some treasures almost forgotten by the public nowadays.

With this series of artworks she wanted to pay homage to this rich artistic heritage reminding  her of  movies she really loves.

At the same time, since she got now (thanks to her new PC) the ability to see shadows and materials, she decided to create also something we miss in SL : reflections in mirrors or glasses.

The series includes 9 artworks bringing up 8 movies.

OTHER FRAGMENTS :
Trinity  will easily talk about what she does, what she likes or dislike, what she wants or doesn’t want, but when it comes to talk about her feelings and her inner side, she will barely say something.

As a way to protect herself she doesn’t use to reveal a lot of her deep personality.
She will willingly joke about her twisted mind or the fact she’s often said “bizarre”, but she will barely talk about her own history which built who she is today.
She thinks these things remain with her and in the past and she usually prefer let people guess or interpreted as they wish.

However, she often feels the need to reveal things, but as she can’t do by just saying, she uses her artworks to instill some fragments of her soul, leaving the choice to the other peoples to guess or not guess and even to give another meaning to her pics. She wishes to add some words for each pic on a notecard, but she doesn’t really say a lot for the same purpose.
It is also for this reason that she chose to use photoshop rather than doing pure photographs, as she feels she can add more of her inner side through the post processing she applies to her pics.

THE NEW GALLERY :
Petit Chat Argallery  opened in July 2013 in the beautiful Haddath Cove, on a parcel complimentary lent by Nati Jashan.
The building was an impressive Steampunk tower and artworks were displayed inside and downstairs in the yard.

Trinity wanted to bring her gallery close to Moumou’s Square, her public garden, where her fashion store is.
Recently she got the opportunity to buy a piece of land just next door  and she asked her favorite and talented landscaper, Trixxie Nitely to decorate the land for her again.

After long days of intensive work, Trix delivered the result of her efforts : a beautiful south french landscape.

On a hill stands a ruin surrounded by grapevines trellis. Two garden homes offer a peaceful spot to relax, and behind the ruins, some tables propose refreshments for the visitors under a big tree. Of course, as it is south France decor, cicadas give a permanent concert of their best tunes.

Down the hill, a beautiful pond will welcome visitors in a beautiful and rustic landscape.
A bridge will lead them to the main part of Moumou’s square and further to Petit Chat mainstore.

One reaches the art gallery by using the ladder located at the feet of the ruins.
Once underground, you will discover Trinity Yazimoto’s artwork displayed in old and rusted building.

Even if it looks messy, Trinity took a lot of care that every visitor feel comfortable while visiting.

On the back side of the gallery a projector shows the artworks on a pile of boxes.
All spots are set to public and are free to visit.

The Drax Files: World Makers [Episode 23: loz Hyde]

The Drax Files: World Makers - episode 23

Although 3D designer loz Hyde has a creative day job - he is getting paid to breathe digital life into Hollywood blockbusters such as Terminator and Guardians of the Galaxy - the user-created universe of Second Life holds a special place in his heart: "People have tried to analyze why SL is so successful and yes, the environments are beautiful, but I am more touched by the people!"

Among his many contributions to the community of colorful avatars is the now iconic "Arcade" building, which is inspired by the Brighton Pier in loz' native England. The Arcade in SL serves as a beloved destination for many residents during the Gacha series of events.

loz Hyde runs the "Meshworx" store in Second Life, where he sells his unique furniture and buildings to a global userbase.

Most "Meshworx" designs feature aspects that originate by loz' real life surroundings in California but in a rather subtle way: loz often goes out to photograph surfaces, materials, mechanical objects as well as details in nature that tell a story.

He then manipulates and layers these images to create dense textures, which he subsequently applies to his virtual designs.

"I promote Second Life like you would not believe" he explains, by showing off snapshots on his mobile phone to colleagues in the VFX community in Hollywood.

"In SL you can do whatever you want and that is the empowering thing. If more people knew that, more people would use it!"

Behind the Scenes with Trinity Ermintrood- Debby Sharma Reporting...

Photograph Credits: Larinda Ravenheart (Peachy)

2014 SL’ Got Talent Winner, Trinity Ermintrood (Bubbles) started as a little girl singing for her friends on hay bale trailers to the one with a nightingale’s voice at the talent show.  At 30, she has an electric taste in music in almost everything with a deep love for rock and country. She has been a karaoke host and Dj for over 9 years in real life. She has been singing in Second Life over the past year and has already got her hands full with requests for Live Performances. One can book her by instant messages or notecard in world or through other communication channels. Her schedule can be viewed at http://tinyurl.com/Bubbles-Schedule

Debby Sharma: Please tell us something about yourself. And how did Second Life singing happen? Would you like to explore other virtual worlds too as your singing career?

Trinity Ermintrood: Well, I've been a singer my whole life. I grew up on a farm, and I used to use the hay bale trailers as a stage when I was a kid and perform to all my friends. Laughs. I've always loved performing in front of people.

Well, I used to record songs on to my PC at home, with a pretty bad PC headset and some free software *laughs*. I started DJing in SL a few years ago and every now and then, I would play some of my recordings to people. I would be told all the time that I should perform in SL, but I never had the equipment I needed to make that happen. Until a very kind friend was adamant that I needed to be heard and funded the equipment for me. I was just Djing a while back at a venue who had live performers and they were willing to let a noob like me sing there, to start me out.  And the rest kind of went from there really.
InWorldz has been mentioned to me a few times, but to be honest, I am so busy here in SL that I wouldn't have time to sing elsewhere, especially with my studying too. Plus SL is where all my "fans" and supporters are. This is where I started and I'm pretty sure this is where I will stay.

Debby Sharma: How did you come to know about SL' Got talent? And how was your experience there? How have the days followed after you were announced as the winner?

Trinity Ermintrood: I actually sing at a club owned by one of the judges from the auditions. She wasn't one of the main judges only for the audition stage, but she mentioned it to me and told me I should audition for it. I loved the whole experience, it was fantastic. Although it was tough for me as all the rounds were at 7/8pm SLT which is 3/4am for me and my neighbours certainly didn't appreciate me singing at that hour *laughs*. I never in a million years thought I would win though. I was stunned to even make it through each round. I was in total shock when they announced me as the winner!

Hectic, *laughs*. It was all very surreal. I had people IMing me non-stop to congratulate me. I still couldn't quite believe I had won. And I was inundated with requests for bookings, which is fantastic.

Debby Sharma: What do you think about Live Performances vs Djing in Second Life?

Trinity Ermintrood: It's a whole different kettle of fish to be honest. I love DJing, because it is my lifelong love affair with music. I love playing good songs and people to appreciate them. I love getting requests and learning new music that I may not have heard before, discovering new songs and bands etc. But I truly love singing also. It's what I love to do. I've always used music to express my emotions and such, and I can do that much more through singing a song myself than just playing it. I love the compliments I get when I'm singing *tries not to let head swell*. And I really enjoy the loyalty some people have to their favorite singers. I never saw that much when i was DJing. I had a few followers, but not like I do with singing. Although singing can be a lot tougher than DJing, because if you're feeling a little off color, or not having a good day, you still need to try and belt out those songs and hit those high notes etc. Whereas with DJing, you can always play good music no matter how you feel!

Debby Sharma: What are your favorite genres of music? Do you have any recordings that people may hear you outside Second Life, like on YouTube etc.? Is there any song that you love to sing and which also defines you?

Trinity Ermintrood: Rock and Country, for sure. Although I love literally every kind of music, from dance music to classical, show tunes to hard rock, Blues, Jazz, Soul and Funk, literally everything.
Yes I have a few videos on YouTube. Although, they are very old and I was half drunk, doing karaoke and one pretty bad recording of my final encore song at a small gig I did. I also have a Sound Cloud page with many of my recordings on, that is updated regularly. It's Trinity-Bubbles Richards http://soundcloud.com/trinity-bubbles-richards
There are many songs I love to sing; many "old faithfuls" that I will always love. But I think, with my life right now, the one prominent song to me, that I love to sing and that defines me as I am at the moment, is Eva Cassidy's Songbird (originally by Fleetwood Mac). All because of my partner, he calls me his songbird, and I sing that to him. He also proposed in the middle of one of my performances, whilst making me sing that song. My world revolves around him and my music right now, and that song, combines the 2 and defines me pretty well at this point in my life.

Debby Sharma: Would you like to sing at any charity concerts, if given an opportunity?

Trinity Ermintrood: Yes absolutely! I have done concerts for SU2C and Feed a Smile in the past and would love to be part of something like that again.

Debby Sharma: If someone wants to follow your path, what would you advice? Your passion for singing, makes it sound so easy and simple, is singing really easy in SL?

Trinity Ermintrood: Enjoy it!!! When I first started, I was so nervous all the time. And it definitely showed through in my gigs. I was always so worried about everything. I have recorded every single one of my gigs from the very first and the difference between the first one and my recent ones is huge. Once I learned to just relax and enjoy it, I found I was much better at what I do and people definitely enjoyed my performances more!
It can be. It obviously requires some technical knowledge, and I was lucky enough to go to Music College and I am also doing a computing/engineering degree so I know my way around technology. And I was also lucky enough to have some good friends who offered great advice when I first started out. It's a lot easier if you have a set routine before your gigs. As in, give yourself a certain amount of time to prepare and choose songs etc. But other than that, it is easy. Especially if it's something you love to do. Again, enjoy it! And it all comes as second nature. I know for sure that my singing career would not be what it is without the support of my partner and my best friend Becks as well as my good friend Hardy. They have all been absolutely amazing. And I couldn't have made it through SL's got Talent without their support either and their belief in me.

Debby Sharma: Would you like to say anything to your listeners?

Trinity Ermintrood: Just a huge thank you for all their on-going support. I know I have some very loyal fans out there and it most certainly is appreciated. I wouldn't be where I am today without them, and they all mean a lot to me. So Thank You to everyone who has stuck by me, encouraged me, believed and had faith in me and who has supported me throughout my whole singing career in SL!
