A Few Good Men Outline their take on Spring Fashion Trends- Rere Sandalwood Reporting…

Spring is in full swing, but there is always time to reflect on what is in for Men’s Fashion!  The last time the SL Enquirer broached the subject, we focused solely on Women’s Spring Fashion…however, because the central focus was on women’s fashion, the men of SL felt that they, too should have a say about what is in for Spring and beyond!
With this in mind, the SL Enquirer felt it important to provide a few good men of SL with a voice; a voice that outlines their take on the ongoing Male Fashion trends going on RIGHT HERE and RIGHT NOW!

Be mindful that because Spring is in full swing and fastidiously approaching an end, the SL Enquirer has incorporated universal fashion tips that can be used by fashion conscious men no matter what the season!

The men featured in this article are what we deem to be one of many who take pride in their avatar appearance, and are meticulous in what they wear and how they look.  Thus, the SL Enquirer gathered the opinions of JOHℵ LΞMϮΘℵ (johnn.lemton), a broad shouldered and athletically built man who enjoys wearing anything from shorts to snappy suits, complete with gold chains and diamonds that decorate his earlobes and wrists.

Also, Romero Ocello, who specializes in designing both men and female fashion and accessories; and, last but not least, SL and RL identical twin brothers Double Trouble Twins DOUBLE TROUBLE HELL RAZOR (elliottlafeyett.miles) and DOUBLE TROUBLE VIDEO PRODUCTION (rockfordge.ewing).

Just an FYI: the SL Enquirer previously made acquaintance with the twins in our other article entitled, “All In The SL Family:  A Close Look At SL Families” (http://www.slenquirer.com/2015/01/all-in-sl-family-close-look-at-second.html).

All Year Round:  A Passionate Discussion on Men’s SL Fashion
In a world where baggy jeans and t-shirts seem to be the norm in the Men’s Fashion Realm, the men featured in today’s article have keenly differentiated themselves from others, yet still manage to have their hand on the pulse of Men’s Fashion. Be mindful that this is not an easy feat, since quality men’s fashion is hard to find in SL, specifically because the Grid caters to the fashion needs and desires of women.

Romero reiterates this claim by saying, “I shop at many stores here on SL [because]…it's hard for me to find really good clothing. To find a great outfit you need to really mix and match…”

This difficulty is not an uncommon one, and occurs in Men’s fashion because there are simply not enough creators that focus on Men’s fashion.  Because this is the case, there are also a limited number of fashions available for men who decide to use mesh bodies.  Rockford says that though he prefers denim, as well as what he calls “The Page Boy” look that entails the use of vests and ties rather than full suits for Spring, that he too has encountered difficulty with finding clothing for his mesh body.  “[Right now]” Rockford explains, “[my] look is whatever I can make work with this TMP Body shape and skin!”
Despite this misgiving, Rockford explains that in addition to wearing denim and finding ways to incorporate “The Page Boy” look in his wardrobe, he and his twin brother also prefer shoes with silver platinum tips.  When asked about his favorite designers, Rockford tells the SL Enquirer, “I am a Marketplace [shopper], so I come across a lot of different designers and tend to go hard on Marketplace when it comes to searching for designers…” he continues, “…I prefer to shop at FashionNatic, as well as G I O M E N and ::ZED:: Designz for Men…those are just a few of my favorites…”

Double Trouble Twins

All page boy looks aside, the twins were recently caught wearing not only denim, but black leopards on their necks! While some may say that it is too hot to wear any kind of fur, the twins routinely pull this look off by being shirtless…as well as by wearing short cropped hair to accentuate the beautifully adorned black leopards around their necks. Rockford says with a chuckle, “[the black leopard look] is a popular look right now, and the best so far if you ask me…[especially] if you like that workout look!”

When asked about him and his brother’s look, Rockford explains, “What is hard for men like my brother and I is creating a new look that is sexy, yet masculine and mature…I mix liquid mesh and the mesh bodies, so I can cross [reference a variety of male fashion] genres…”

GABRIEL’s:  One of a few stores that specialize in Men’s Fashion
Another great designer to turn to for men’s fashion, according to JOHℵ LΞMϮΘℵ is GABRIEL’s. Though John contends that he prefers to be shirtless and prefers to wear “…just easy baggy pants or shorts…” he contends that for spring, men like himself tend to turn to colors ranging in black, blue, white, and red.  “That’s four colors I mostly wear,” he explains. “Nonetheless, I find that the key for people in SL is not to be the same, to not wear the same things over and over again. GABRIEL’s gives me a lot to choose from; I like their coats and shirts especially…”
“However…” John adds, “…if [GABRIEL fashions] would put appliers for mesh bodies [in their fashions for men,] that would be amazing…there are not a lot of stores that include quality clothing for mesh bodies…”

JOHℵ LΞMϮΘℵ

Romero somewhat echoes John’s sentiment when it comes to the limitations of GABRIEL’s attire by stating, “[the mesh fashions at GABRIEL’s are] really for thin people…like anorexic people…and it [incorporates] a little bit of too much catalog fashion, [so in my opinion], it lacks creativity…” Yet despite these perceived limitations, Romero still contends that Takuya Jinn (the owner and creator of GABRIEL’s) is still a good place to turn to for men’s fashion.  “Takuya Jinn…” he explains, “…is still a great creator, but it’s not my cup of tea…”
While Romero tastes vastly differs from JOHℵ LΞMϮΘℵ and the DOUBLE TROUBLE TWINS, he lets the SL Enquirer know that for Spring, pastel and light colors, as well as fashions made with thin fabrics, are what men are currently wearing.  However, though he contends that the fabrics should be light, they should still be able to provide warmth for the wearer at night.  “I also see prints are becoming a trend [in men’s fashion]…” Romero continues, “[However,] I prefer elegant fashionable clothing…from great quality to great textures…I also prefer English suits, as well as anything that can be either formal or casual…or a mixture of both…”

Like the DOUBLE TROUBLE TWINS, Romero echoes the importance of mixing and matching clothing as a way to create a look that is unique and sexy all at once.  In this sense, it is important that men…no matter what the season…extend their creativity when it comes to fashion.  That way, they will come across as not only virile and masculine, but as a person that stands apart from the rest of the crowd.

Time to release your inner hero with VWE - Lacy Muircstle reporting ...

In the real world wrestling is hugely popular, John Cena seemingly being the one to follow.  Cena, 37, has been the WWE's most reliable hero for the past 10 years.

After cleaning toilets and sleeping in his car while working at Gold's Gym near Southern California's Muscle Beach, Cena got his big break working at the gym's nutrition counter -- a sort of Schwab's drugstore with muscles. "They had a locker room and showers," Cena recalls, "so I'd get four or five hours of sleep in the big back seat of my 1991 Lincoln Continental, then wake up and go to work."

THE SLE BUZZ: Meet Enzo Champagne founder of CHAMPAGNE! Sparkling Couture

Enzo Champagne is founder of CHAMPAGNE! sparkling couture and is from Paris, France. He rezzed into Second Life on March 15, 2008 and sees this virtual world as an amazing platform full of creativity and cultures. Enzo was introduced to this virtual world by one of his real world customers. They had established a location within Second Life to introduce their famous brand. Curious; Enzo created an account, logged in, was fascinated, creating a brand of his own and never left.

SLE Buzz Interview

SLE Buzz: What are three special things you wished everyone in SL knew about you and CHAMPAGNE!sparkling couture?

Enzo: I’m just a simple guy working in the best way I can . If people have fun or love my brand CHAMPAGNE!sparkling couture, then I’m happy to please them :)

SLE Buzz:Can you tell SLE what inspired your involvement in the SL community?
Enzo: I didn’t have the chance to create my brand in rl so sl gave me the opportunity to express myself there. Second Life gives me Freedom of creativity!

SLE Buzz: How would you describe your personal style in three words?
Enzo: Myself: preppy-clean-sweet and My brand: sparkling-sexy-fantasy

SLE Buzz: What have you learned about yourself in SL?
Enzo: About myself? Well, A lot of patience and concentration. Even if I like fairytales I have to be careful about people to trust or not. That’s sad.
The problem is Fake people, hackers, copybotters, and griefers. These are people who like to play with feelings or make drama all the time to exist. They don’t care about or have respect for the SL community.

SLE Buzz: Where do you like to shop?
Enzo: David Heather ,Kauna , Lapointe , the Forge , Howl , Wonton , Theosophy ,

SLE Buzz: What are your favorite places to visit in SL for entertainment?
Enzo: Unfortunately I don’t have much time but I love Gacha. I also love to decorate and visiting friends. sometimes I just like to relax on my private parcels and breath :)

SLE Buzz: What is your most memorable/funny moment?
Enzo:  A Long long time ago I was visiting the Indiana Jones Adventure land with Mimi Juneau and I was on her knees cause there were snakes lol

SLE Buzz: What are your thoughts on the SL culture? What would you change to improve the quality of your experience?
Enzo: SL Culture… There are a lot of art events that I like to go to like the ones that Owl Braveheart organizes often. Also, there are Many magazines now. The community is very rich with media. It is good to see all what people can do in SL and photography creations too.
Ferosh magazine is amazing , Fashion teller is always exciting, L’homme Magazine is so great and BOSl magazine for sure is still a great reference for the SL community .
There are a lot of events happening at the Rose theatre and fashions shows are hosted by so many agencies like Penumbra or the Men fashion week. I love and run to Gacha or limitation sales like the Men’s department, Kustom 9 or Collabor!
Besides fashion, there are very cool radio stations such as SL live Radio by Thorn Andel. When I tune in it makes me shaking my pixels while I work.
So yes with years a lot of culture were added by the people of Second Life and I hope it will continue to grow! However, There are a lot of technical glitches, crashing with viewers, limitations for meshes importations, number of prims linked, lag , limitations of exchanges and connection to marketplace which fails.
That’s really the hell sometimes when you want to work.
Linden Lab doesn’t search to help people , they don’t care, with their automatic answers only to end in closing accounts with no explanations while copybotters still sell their fake items on marketplace. There is a big gap between LL and what happens in world

SLE Buzz: Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers about you?

Enzo: Thanks for all the support I still have during these years. I hope to still make you happy.

Come Into The Garden: Spotlight On The Sacred Gardens Mackenzie Abbot Reporting

It’s always made we wonder why anyone would want to start a club in Second Life.  It tends to be the occupation of choice for anyone who wants to start a quick business here, but doesn’t tend to last very long in a market flooded with clubs and venues that offer DJ’s and live music.  So what’s so different about The Sacred Gardens?  I took a stroll around to see what was different here.  Among the flowers and walkways there’s a boating lake, bridges and swans. All very idyllic.  Heading back to the club area, I meet with Bluey and Cshelle, the owners for a chat.

M: So why did you start Sacred Gardens? Aren’t there enough clubs in SL?

B: Well basically, we wanted to be different.  Most clubs tend to either have little cliques or are just “us and them” when it comes to management and staff.  We wanted to be a family.  We’re not interested in making money we just want people to come here and feel welcomed
S: Like they’re in their home.
B: Exactly, we have an open door policy and anyone is welcome.  You don’t have to come here and listen to the music, or splash your cash around.  You’ll notice we don’t have any stores in the area, purely because we want the place to not be about spending money.  We have 1 tip jar for the sim, that’s it.  We don’t want your money, we want your company and friendship.

M: So what’s so different about SG compared to other clubs?

B: I think it’s a friendlier atmosphere.  We like to think we have a better standard of people here.  By that we mean friendly people who don’t just say hello and then leave you alone.  Everyone here tries to welcome you in and make you feel like you’re part of the family.  We don’t have a list of rules.  Just come here, do your own thing, relax and be yourself.
S: Well, we don’t call them rules per se, more guidelines.  Key is communication.  Keep it simple, smart…that’s the way we do things

M: What the unique selling point in the eyes of VIPs? What can you offer that others can’t?

The difference is we want to make people feel welcome and part of the family.  We don’t own it, they do in a way.  Just an escape where they can be who they want to be.  Don’t get us wrong we limit things but that’s more common sense things.  We’re freelance if you like.

M: How would you describe Sacred Gardens in 5 words?

B: Great place to come and relax
M: That’s 6 words
B: Oh sorry
S: friendly, romantic
B: errr
S: games
B: relaxing, great bosses!
S: Easy going!

M: ok that’s actually 8 words but I’ll work my magic when I come to edit this later. (Note, gentle reader, I didn't) What else does the club have to offer?

B: Well we have nice gardens to walk around.  There’s also a beach area for those quiet moments.
S: There’s also a lake area with a boat you can use, it’s not just about the music and dj’s, there are places where you can sit with loved ones, friends and play game or just sit and chat.  As we said, you don’t have to come and listen to any entertainment we have, you can just chill and hang out
B: I’m glad you’re writing this down Mack, I’d be lost after three words

M: Where do the club going? Where do you see SG in a years’ time?

B: Hopefully still going. Don’t know if we want to make the club bigger as that might be impersonal
S: Obviously we would like a bigger footfall, a lot can happen in a year and a lot of clubs get closed down for the wrong reasons.  We wouldn't close SG down even if there were only 2 people here, this is our home.  You can go bigger but it’s not always better.  It’s far more manageable as it is, we’re not greedy for money or people, we just want a happy fun loving place for us, our staff and our vips of course.

M: Let’s try this again in a different way, what would be the top three reasons for someone reading this to come here?

Both: Great music, friendly environment, beautiful surroundings

As I thanked them for their time and wandered off to take some photos for this article, I realized that not every club owner had attitudes or were hungry for power/money/VIPs.  It was refreshing to find a breed of club owner who actually gave a damn about their patrons and didn’t just try and fill schedules with DJ’s and hosts so that whoever decided to show up would have something to listen to.  They make no apologies for trying to be different and that’s refreshing to see on grids chock full of clubs full of bots or as empty as the inside of a reality show contestants head.

Breaking News on Charity Scams! On May 19th, 2015 CNBC broke the News that Some Cancer Charities Scammed Consumers out of $187M

A Lawsuit has been filed against the Breast Cancer Society, the Cancer Fund of America, Children’s Cancer Fund of America and Cancer Support Services by The Federal Trade Commission and attorney general in all 50 states. In 2013 Tampa Bay Times and the Center for Investigative Reported “America’s Worst Charities” and found that the charities listed above are all run by the same family and their business associates. Currently Breast Cancer Society and Children’s Cancer Fund of America has entered a settlement agreement. Three of the groups’ executives have agreed to a settlement of $137M that will be redirected to cancer patients and these violators are now banned from any future charity management.
According to Jessica Rich, director of the FTC's Bureau of Consumer Protection, it is alleged that 87% of the 187M went to paying personal salaries, funding unrelated fundraisers, dating site memberships and vacations to Disney World with about 3% going to charity.

See a full report here: http://www.cnbc.com/id/102690794

These bad apples shouldn’t ruin it for everyone.  Don’t stop giving to charities just do your research! There are still legitimate charities out there that do deliver to those in need such as #1 United Way, #2 Salvation Army, #3 Feeding America, #4 Task Force for Global Health, #5 American National Red Cross, #6 Food for the poor, #7 Goodwill Industries International, #8 YMCA of the USA and The American Cancer Society which is ranked  #9 in the top 50 largest charities in the United states.

If you visit The American Cancer Society Website and click on the link to Relay for Life, you will find a link to Relay for Life of Second Life.  So, rest assured if you have contributed to RFL in SL then your Lindens went to cancer patients. If you are part of one of the 85 RFL teams in Second Life you should be very proud that you helped raise over $20, 614!

AVIE POLL: FAVORITE SKINS AND SHAPES- Moonshade Pastorelli Reporting…

Every two years, I shop for a new avatar skin. It may be because I’m tired of the old skin and need to update my look, or I just feel like “window shopping” in SL, or I want to see if designers have become even more innovative in their work. Over the years, I’ve donned four skins. As a new resident of SL, I chose an un-modifiable freebie shape, later creating my own which I do to this day.

SL offers a multitude of skin and shape choices. In fact, I have a list of over 50 landmarks for skin vendors alone. You could spend days in SL in search of the right look for your avatar. Piqued by my own curiosity, I wanted to see if I’d missed some well-made skins and shapes in SL  so asked people to complete a brief survey on the topic.

Twenty respondents completed the survey--18 female and two male avatars.

SKINS
Some of the respondents named more than one skin vendor as their favorite. The list came down to these that are followed by the number of avatars who named that particular skin vendor as a favorite.

Belleza           3 (females)
LAQ                3 (females)
League          2 (females)
New Faces    2 (females)
WoW              2 (females)
Aeros              1 (male)
AIMI                1 (female)
Deetalez        1 (female)
Deesses        1 (female)
Fallen Gods  1 (female)
Glam Affair    1 (female)
LoveMe          1 (female)
Pink Fuel       1 (female)
Snow Rabbit 1 (female)
sYs                 1 (female)
T. Bare           1 (male)

The qualities that the respondents look for when purchasing a skin are varied:

Hellishly Gothly, who wears the New Faces Willow skin, said she looks for a “well-shaded, natural look, though it can be a fantasy skin; no visible seams, facial structure and shape that not only compliment my face, but enhances it; availability of a good range of appliers, included items (such as appliers).”

Bella Rene’

Bella Rene’ wears Deesses’ Lorelay Milky Chocolate. “I look for true to tone and shape in a quality skin,” she said. “Deesses has mastered the ethnic and authentic texture so exquisitely, it’s literally a masterpiece in itself. I have looked across the grid for true to form skins. Deesses has it to an art form.”

Skye Broadmoor lives her SL as an elf, uses League’s Taylor skin, and says that she likes “realistic, well done shading. When choosing which version of a skin to purchase, I prefer the natural skin. Then, if I ever want to use makeup, I can. The cost of a skin is important, but if it’s a good quality skin, I don’t mind paying more.”

Helen

“I look for cute features and a kind of dark shade of skin,” said Helen, who uses the Pink Fuel skin, Harley.

Terillian Belar wears League Isla Deep Tan and explains that she prefers “clear, defined muscle tone, not fuzzy; realistic nipples, nails, vagina; a face that doesn’t have a pouting, frowning mouth. I pay attention to the skin’s shade and go for as realistic as possible—no orange spray tans. I like League skins because the same skin looks different when you change hair colors from red to blonde to black.”

SHAPES
Of the 20 respondents, 65 percent said they did not purchase their current shape:

Delight

Delight said, “I make my own shape. It is an ever evolving process over my time in SL, and I feel it lets me be me.”

Terrell Merryman explained that he’s had the same shape since 2008 “and it has helped me create a unique look with my skins, since the shape hasn’t been for sale in years.” He went on. “I did purchase a mesh avatar body recently, Narimyth Aesthetic. It’s very good but limited due to the lack of clothing. Otherwise, I don’t plan to buy a shape. However, from what I’ve seen, Aeros Avatar is good.”

Terrell Merryman

Anu Daviau made her own shape eight years ago. “I am quite happy with it still. The only change I made within those years, shape wise, was shrinking my overall size.”

Vichonette Constantine has always made her own shapes and said, “With the advent of mesh, I have so many different versions of my shape to fit various mesh clothing, I can’t even remember what the original shape looked like!”

Aelva’s favorite skin vendors are Deetalez, Fallen Gods, and LAQ. She makes her own shapes because, “I don’t want to look like a clone.” However, she happily offers this advice regarding avatar skins and shapes: “Play with it! Mix and match. Try the sliders on the shape and see what you end up with.”

On the other hand, 35 percent of the respondents indicated they purchased the shapes they use now:

Joy Canadeo

Joy Canadeo said that she prefers the Body Doubles shapes, “because I can look at a specific personality and make my own adjustments to reflect my personality.”
