♕ ALPHA DELTA RHO ♕ One World ♥ One Sisterhood ( A Δ P ) – Brac Collins Reporting

Today, I am at the Sorority House complex with the sisters and founders of Second Life’s newest Sorority who is currently recruiting new members- Alpha Delta Rho. While most would consider such to be nothing more than social club, or just another group, these ladies are serious about sisterhood, kinship, friendship and personal development.

Accepting the privilege of being allowed on the complex and freely perusing the expansive house grounds, you can see the hard work and the dedication that each of the founders and its leaders has put into this endeavor- this isn’t just another FAD Group or Club. It’s a group of women who sincerely believe that women are subjected to a great deal of negativity even in today’s modern society.

They believe that within each of them, there’s something that is distinctly female, and when properly nurtured, that individual can rise above societal expectations, and what society has adapted them to be, and make strides toward becoming who they were created to become. It was founded on common ideals of loyalty, trust, dedication, friendship, kinship, and sisterhood; a bond that is immeasurable.

The symbolism in the Alpha Delta Rho crest seemingly reiterates those values with a Chain, Rose, Butterfly and Heart. The Chain represents the bond and strength between the sisters and the sorority, while the butterfly is a representation of the transformation that takes place. The Yellow Tea Rose is the sororities flower, it signifies good cheer, renewal and hope and is in celebration of that which is female. The heart symbol is composed of imagery linked to living, loving and laughing.

They aspire to reach out to women all across Second Life, so that they too can join in this experience of sisterhood. While they are new establishment, they aspire and are dedicated to making themselves known by participating in charity events, modeling opportunities, theatre and art, individual business establishments, art and music.

Meeting with the ladies of Alpha Delta Rho today, I made further inquiry.  

Brac Collins: Tell me why you are making such a bold and diligent effort to establish this Sorority.

An in depth interview with Second Life Artist Thea Dreem

The artist known as Thea Dreem has been traveling Second Life since September 27, 2014, originally as her alter ego, Caelin8. By her own admission, her first photos where selfies in which she was "crashing houses" and taking pictures of herself drinking and stealing other people's yachts. I had the good fortune to interview this Second Life griefer before the authorities track her down. 

Dean : What intrigues you about Second Life?

Thea : At the moment I'm intrigued by galleries - everything from building them to filling them with photos and planning parties to show them off. I joined a couple of friends to form an art cooperative and we're opening in a couple of weeks. I'm perhaps not as interested in the business side of the art gallery scene, but I'm having fun and that's what it's about for me. In general I'm intrigued by exceptional craftsmanship and beautiful quality work, in every area of Second Life. I really want to learn to create content that meets the standards I've acquired since joining one year ago, so I'll be studying Blender forever! Of course, I love SL photography and am working hard to improve my skills. It's all about having fun, stepping outside of my comfort zone, and striving to be a contributor in the SL community.

Dean : How did you first get involved with SL photography?

Thea : The snapshot tool was the first thing that I "picked up" after figuring out how to get around the grid. I took a lot of very small, very flat photos of myself crashing houses and just doing things I had no business doing because I didn't understand that this isn't a game where all the content is provided by the game creator for everyone's amusement. I deleted evidence of my crimes, of course. Later I started a travel blog with a photography-emphasis theme because I loved reading SL travel blogs - still do! From that I made the acquaintance of a writer at Windlight Magazine who encouraged me to apply for a Windlight Gallery Fellowship. I just wrapped up that exhibit and it was a great experience! So really I'm just starting out.

Dean : I found the series of snapshots titled "Obedience - the binding of Isaac" very compelling, could you tell me about how you came up with the concept and the process of producing these images?

Thea : Well, the concept was simply to chronicle the work of the creator, Bryn Oh. The setting, the lighting, the sculpture, story, all of it was so compelling, all I had to do was snap. I couldn't imagine changing a thing. Great artists and creators make my job easy. My choice of angles, the scenes that made me stop and absorb them deeply to find a point of view that framed the theme perfectly for me was my contribution. When I photograph an artist's work I try to honor their vision by using the region windlights as often as possible. However, if my intention is to photograph something editorial using the artist's build as a backdrop, I will play with windlight settings, depth of field, push and pull all the sliders and spend hours trying to tell a story. Mostly I stay behind the camera and focus on the build.

Dean : Is there anything you would like the readers of the SL Enquirer to know about you or your work?

Thea : It's a work in progress! I just finished the Fall semester at Visionaire Institute for photography and my graduation exhibit will be opening in a few weeks. As mentioned earlier, my friends and I will be opening our art cooperative around the same time. In the meantime, I'm showing my work in world at Burnsey's Gallery

My goal is to have a LEA grant this time next year and expand my artistic expression to create something I would want to take pictures of today. I've said it publicly, so now I have to do it!

A Love Story…From Second Life to Real Life- LilyLaceWing Reporting…

How one couple overcame over a thousand miles, and are still going strong today!

It was no easy task, but I finally found love in Second Life!! No, not for me, silly! I have love of my own in SL and RL (same person, of course.) No, what I was looking for, was a couple who’d gotten their start in SL, then moved successfully into an RL relationship! Let me introduce you to Laney* and Bob*.

Laney is a 34 year old young woman from California, who found the man of her dreams in Bob, 42, an RL mechanic in Florida. The two met one night at a mutual friend’s rez day party, and immediately had a connection. They spent the next six hours straight online together chatting, exploring, and generally trying to get to know one another before Bob had to head off to work. Laney found herself wondering when he’d be back online. Laney is disabled due to MS (multiple sclerosis,) and uses SL as a way to explore without taxing her RL body. She never expected to make a romantic connection in SL.

 Nor did Bob, who was recently divorced, quite nastily, from his ex wife Diane*. Diane got the kids most of the time, and he got to keep the house for his half of their visits since Diane’s family was well off and could help her get into a new living situation, whereas Bob would be left without a home, having no living relatives he could call on for help. But after that party, they were inseparable, spending as much time in SL together as possible, and lots of time on the phone together.

Finally, after about 4 months, Bob saved up enough to meet with Laney in person. “When I first saw him, I just knew everything was going to be great. He had this smile to him that was warm, and somehow familiar. I knew then that I was head over heels in love with him.” They spent two wonderful weeks together, before Bob had to return to his home state of Florida to go back to work. It was torture for them, being apart so much, so Bob would fly Laney out to visit whenever he could afford to. “She was so great with the kids, so natural. I was relieved to see them get along so well, and my little ones take to her so quickly. When she’d come, she’d often visit for up to three weeks. After about five or six rounds of doing that, they decided it was time to think seriously. Did they want to take their relationship to the next level?

 About 5 months ago, Laney moved in with Bob full time, and now spends her time with her best friend, his children, and their combined dogs, hers a German Shepherd, his a bulldog. “It’s funny to watch them play together,” Says Laney, “Nat (the shepherd) is so careful with Sully, it’s like she’s adopted her.” And while Laney says her illness always makes life a rollercoaster ride, this time at least she can enjoy the ride.

 I want to thank the real “Laney” and “Bob” for sharing their story with me, as I mentioned before, it was hard to find a story with a happy ending, but so far, at least, Laney and Bob are doing well with their happy ending. I wish you both the best of luck, and a bright future!

Check Out The Luxurious Audi Q7 in Second Life- Khajan Reporting...

The Audi Q7 a huge seven seater SUV in the real world is a great luxurious and spacious car which has now been brought into Second Life by many vehicles manufactures. I had the chance to explore one of them by Hotaru Motors they have re-branded the rl model as SUV-Q7-AS7 implying the Q7 runs on the ACS scripts of version 7.0.

Space

No Doubt compared to a Range Rover the SUV-Q7-AS7 appears very small looking at it from outside. However I must say it is more spacious but lacks the actual seven seaters as this car is packed with 3 passenger sears with 1 animated driver. Even in the front there is a lot of space making it very comfy to travel in. In terms of boot it is very decent but not intractable with if you’re a role-players who loves shopping.

Comfort

    

The SUV-Q7-AS7 I would say is package of luxurious driving experience which is incredible smooth when driving it. The car is great for long journeys as having done a trip on the main grip was very enjoyable. However, I must put it down that crossing sims was not as pleasant. The driving position that came as stock was perfect for a tall avatar like me but you are able to adjust it in the menu for your personal preference.

Dashboard Layout

SUV-Q7-AS7 dashboard would say made with considering the factor of stylish in mind as it is beautifully constructed. As the textures on the car are I would say so rich in detail in mouse look I couldn’t tell if I was in a virtual car or a real one that’s how good it was. I do love the media screens as you probably know by now how I love listing to music while I drive.

Easy to drive

   

Well in towns and cities in SL it is generally a breeze to drive. The car offers effortless accelerations making it easy to overtake the slower-moving traffic. However, I must say in narrow lanes and busy towns I do get paranoid and annoyed about bumping into stuff so I do tend to cam out using the rear cam to drive.

Affordability

The car I would say costing at $950 is a great bargain for quality like this so if you have the lindens,it is worth the money but I would suggest you try it out in the demo area of the sim so you don’t just take my word for it.
