Cracking Down on Sketchy Age Play Establishments and Pedophilia Activity in SL– Camury Reporting

Pedophilia is among the diseases classified by the World Health Organization (WHO) between the disorders of sexual preference. Pedophiles are adults (men or women) who have sexual preference for children - girls or boys at the same sex or the opposite sex, usually pre-pubescent (who have not reached puberty) or at the beginning of puberty, according to WHO.
Pedophiles often use the Internet for the ease it offers to find their victims. In Second Life, as well as in other social networks, the pedophile can hide behind the profile to act seductively and win the trust of minors. So it is very important not to disclose personal data on the Internet, such as last name, address, phone number and photos, which can end up in the hands of bad guys. Especially in Second Life, to recognize pedophiles is a difficult task, because often they are people who give no specific reason for suspicion. There are no clues on their profile, so it must be careful not to raise false accusations against innocent people, giving them suspicious lightly.

You should be aware that children Avatars are not perverts or underage users. Many people use child avi’s to enjoy the innocence of being a child again. Do not be too hasty in considering an avatar child as a real person, a minor. You should only report abuse if you see someone clearly playing a sexual situation between an adult and a child avatar. Still should note that many people in Second Life have a youthful appearance, but are not child avatars. The only 'age play' which is prohibited in Second Life is sexual age play. Making your avatar younger than you really are in real life, it is not prohibited.
We know that in Second Life there are different maturity levels that determine the type of content and behavior allowed in a region, affecting the searches results. The regions are classified into three levels of content: General, Moderate and Adult. To access the search results and adult areas, the resident must be at least 18 years old.

A region designated as General cannot advertise or otherwise make available content or sexually explicit activity, violence or contains nudity. Objects with a sexual purpose such as "sex beds" or "pose balls" cannot be placed or sold in General regions.
A region designated as moderate, in Second Life, includes most of the non-adult common activities. Nightclubs, bars, shops, malls, galleries, music concerts, beaches, parks, etc. Different places to socialize, create and learn can be called Moderate. These regions are not allowed to publicly promote adult content or adult activities.

A region designated as Adult in Second Life can provide to residents sexually explicit content or constitutes intense violence or drug use.
Although Second Life is considered a game for adults, aged 18 or more; a teenager can get access, with some restrictions:
* 13-15 years old: Access to Second Life is permitted by means of an affiliated organization and will be restricted to private property of that organization. Only approved avatars by this organization will be able to get these properties. You may not access other areas of Second Life, seek or buy market items.

* 16-17 years old: Access to second life is permitted in regions and search results that have a General maturity rating.

We know, however, that although there are rules, they are not spontaneously followed by children and teenagers and they can be easily skipped.

The educational presence of a parent or guardian is very important. We must always be aware of the websites and videogames accessed by children and teenagers. Some reminders are important to the parents:
* Keep the computer in a common area of the house and its screen visible;
* Observe the minor's activities on the Internet, know the rules of Second Life or other games and frequented websites;
* Ask them to read what the child or teen writes and publishes on his blog, in chat rooms, on Facebook, in Second Life, etc. These are open doors to any person with good or bad intentions;
* meet the virtual friends of your son or daughter. Make sure that your child does not arrange to meet with people over the Internet without permission. Every day many children and adolescents disappear in the world, because they go to meetings scheduled on the Internet. So it is very important not to accept invitations from strangers and never provide personal information.

Just as we teach young people about the real world we have to guide them in the virtual world. Do your part!

The Project Bento promises better customization of avatars in Second Life - Camury Reporting

Get ready for the biggest changes that have already happened with the avatars in Second Life in years.
The changes will come with Project Bento that adds more than 90 bones to avatars. That will allow interesting and discreet increases in facial expressions, better articulation to the fingers, movements for wings and tails and other improvements impossible or too complex to be made before the arrival of the project.

Many designers have been invited to test the new developments that will soon be available to SL users.
The changes that will occur with the addition of the new bone structure to the Second Life avatar skeleton, will allow more options for customizing avatars.
Find out which bones are about to be added:
  •  30 bones to improve the facial expressions;
  •  30 bones to allow the movement of fingers (all ten fingers);
  •  11 bones to improve the movement of extra members like: wings, extra legs, or additional arms;
  •  6 bones to enhance the movement of the tail;
  • 13 new attachment points associated with the new bones that will allow improvement of the movements.

The Linden Lab in a note on the Project Bento says that will consider value, personalization and investments that are made by the users of Second Life on their avatars. They promise to balance the improvements and compatibility. The new changes will allow avatars to a new set of expressions and incredible movements which will allow the use of much more creativity to the composition of the avatars.

The changes introduced by Bento avatar skeleton designs are not yet final and are being tested for the opinion of designers and users. You can also participate and discuss the changes brought about by  Project Bento. For these discussions Linden Lab created the Creation Forum that is available at:

URL:

The designers and users can also experience the changes offered by the Bento Project. For this, you need to download this viewer:

After the conclusion of SL skeleton extensions, Linden Lab will allow uploads so that the avatars can be used in the main Second Life network. So soon we will see on the virtual universe more sophisticated avatars than ever.

Some designers request resources from Linden Lab, to be able to already upload a  Project Bento skeleton rigged mesh "avatar", and then rez it in-world put it together with a script / animation, and watch how it works. This feature would enable more realistic creatures that are far less taxing on the viewer/land/etc.

So if you see an articulated and very realistic creature walking through Second Life, do not be alarmed, it is the Project  Bento in action.

Interview with Cupid 2016- Lanai Jarrico Reporting...

Every Valentine’s Day it seems the previous Cupid quits his position, goes into hiding and it is taken over by someone new. This year I decided to appoint one very sexy avatar myself as Cupid 2016. He didn’t need to be in a competition nor did he sign up for the job. Based on his charm, outrageously chiseled abs, assortment of tattoos and piercings- I just knew he would be the perfect candidate. When I approached him, he didn’t even put up a fight. In fact, he gladly accepted the bow and arrow. So without further adieu, please meet Cupid 2016.

Lanai: FFS! I love my job. Hi there Cupid...thank you for allowing me to give you the title of Cupid 2016. Out of all the men I’ve stared down across SL, I have to say you caught my attention for this prestigious and very important position.

Cupid 2016: Thank you Lanai, it is my pleasure! Any man in their right mind wouldn’t turn down such a position. In case you are wondering how many positions I’m good at I can enlighten you after this interview.

Lanai: o.O Ohhh a bold one…. I certainly found the right guy for this position but I have to decline that offer. I am a professional. *slips her number under the table*
Soooooo Cupid… How do you intend on breaking in your new title?

Cupid 2016: First, I want to start by saying every woman in Second Life deserves to be treated like a queen with the exception of the drama queens who make other’s Second Life a "living nightmare."

Lanai: That is the sweetest thing to say, and I can certainly agree with you on the drama queens point. They never seem to learn their lesson. Well, we will let Santa deal with them.

Cupid 2016: Good Idea. But I doubt he will have enough coal for them all. So back to your question. My first order of business will have to be offering some advice to the “men” of Second Life. We all know the ratio of men vs. women is severely in need of a balance. There are so many women and not enough men. When you separate the boys from the men, the ratio is just so off balance, many women will be without Valentine’s this year.

Lanai: Very interesting observation Cupid. So what type of advice are you giving men?

Cupid 2016: I’m not here to blow smoke up anyone’s prims but I have to say men need to step up their game, especially when it comes to appearance. Mesh bodies are in, so all you cookie cutter avies out there with your twins running around, need to find their own identity already. It’s 2016. Once men realize women want to see a man who pays attention to detail, then finding and keeping a woman is more likely. It is common sense really.

Lanai: I agree. Besides appearance though, there’s has to be some substance to their personality too?

Cupid 2016: That should go without saying. Having respect for woman and being a gentleman is a lost art sad to say. What I have learned through my experience with countless women is they like to feel like they matter. It is the little things that count the most. Like surprises and thoughtful dates. But what I know for sure is women can thrive off three very important things.
1. Compliments
2. Sexy arm candy and
3. Shoes.
…...Not necessarily in that order though.

Lanai: Aww you are a romantic under all that body art and bad boy style. You also makes a lot of sense. But doesn’t it also apply to women to look their best for their man?

Cupid 2016: I try.
And to be completely honest for most SL men a nice pair of (BLEEPS) and a big round (BLEEP) are enough to keep them focused. For others, yes the ladies need to step up their game also and pay attention to how they dress and most importantly how they act. It shouldn't be one-sided.

Lanai: That’s true. Nurturing each other's needs is very important. What advice do you have for the ladies?

Cupid 2016: Well Lanai, not every lady shows the type of class you do. It takes a real woman to wear a suit like you do and be sexier than a woman with all her prims spilling out. It’s about how a woman carries herself. Confidence, class, creativity with the perfect amount of naughty.

Lanai: Thank you for the compliment. I see where you are coming from.

Cupid 2016: So Lanai, where’s your arm candy? Do you have a Valentine this year?

Lanai: Uhhhhh. I’m...well….Wait. How did this interview turnaround? Let’s just say I have a lot of shoes…

Cupid 2016: Are you telling me you have a fetish?

Lanai: No! I’m just saying… Let’s just move on. *blushes*

Cupid 2016: For such a social butterfly you seem to be struggling Ms. Jarrico. If you don’t have a Valentine, I’ll use my first arrow on anyone you choose. Just say the name and he’s yours.

Lanai: *facepalms*  Fine! shoot yourself in the a** for me and I’ll see you on Valentine’s Day...and if you are stuck on a gift idea, I wear a size 6 ½.

Cupid 2016: clever little devil aren't you…and be warned I wear a size 12 *smiles*

Lanai: O.o

Happy Valentine’s Day SLE Fans!

What Colors are in for Mid Winter Fashion? -Sunny Love Holiday Reporting

We have about a month and a half left in the strange winter season. The weather has been abnormal in most places and personally I have enjoyed the warmer temps here in Michigan. The Fashion world has been heating up the fashion junky atmospheres, as well, with some great pieces and colors. Since I do not want to see anyone fashion sense as out of control as recent weather, I am going to provide my fashion lovers with  colors which are popping for the winter fashion season. There are many Winter colors trends for the 2015/2016 season so I am going to provided my favorites.

First up is Cashmere Rose. Most would think that this vibrant and colorful pink would be more of a spring color but Cashmere Rose found its way into the fall/winter 2015 trend to my delight. This color is definitely for the women who wants to remain colorful at all time yet fit in with the current trends. It gives off the composed feeling while being very chic in style. Wicca's Wardrobe has a very nice cocktail dress that has a bit of an edge. The following link will take you right to it:

Next is Stormy Weather. ThIs Gray color will remind you of a overcast day the is serious in mood yet warm enough to handle business.  It is strong, bold, and downright boss lady worthy. I found a gorgeous gown by .::MARIPOSA House of Couture::. that completely fits the bill. Perfect for that elegant evening out for any boss chick. You can find this gown on marketplace here:

Marsala might be my favorite color of them all and was also named the Pantone color of the year 2015. It brings confidence and stability into fashion with a subtly seductive nature as stated by the director of Pantone.  I am a big fan of earthy things, so this bold and rich wine like color tickles my earthy senses. F I N E S M I T H has a sexy yet conservative jumpsuit that is a tab bit lighter than other Marsala outfits I seen. However, I have noticed that this color has been showcased in a few different shades. Check out the following link to see if this shade fits you:

Of course, you can never go wrong with Timeless Black. What season doesn’t have black in it in one way or another? I don’t think I will ever see a time where black is not in. I wear it often and it never fails me. :: PM :: PurpleMoon Creations has a great business suit the represents that powerful color. When you wear this suit everyone comes in your presence will know you handle yours with the utmost efficiency. Begin your powerful fashion sense by clicking this link to grab your suit:

Last but not least is Amethyst Orchid. Bringing a calming sensation like a freshly blossom spring flower, Amethyst Orchid is a great addition to the normally deep and darker color trends of the season. Creative and royal fashion goers will love this jewel color and appreciate the excitement this color brings to the season. ♠lYZ brings you a fabulous gown that has matching shoes with it. This gown will surely make you stand out in a crowd of evening partiers. I highly recommend this gown and it can be found here:

All of these colors will keep you in style and help you express yourself. I hope this guide is helpful and I would love to see what the readers of the SL Enquirer put together using this. Please feel free to drop a link to your winter photos in the comments below.

FUNKY JUNK : LEA 22 An in-depth interview with Carmsie Melodie - Dean Lawson Reporting

Carmsie Melody is a Second Life artist who is currently creating a sim called “Funky Junk” as part of the Linden Endowment for the Arts land grant program. I had the good fortune to speak with Carmsie.

Dean : Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions about the Funky Junk LEA sim. Could you tell me what first attracted you to Second Life?
Carmsie : Before Second Life, I was in an alternative virtual world called There.com. It was fun and I had great friends but I became a bit bored and restless because I wanted to create content. The ability to build was limited in that world.  I had heard that people could create in SL so I checked it out. As soon as I arrived I discovered it was all I was hoping for and more. The rest is history!
Dean : Could you tell me about the concept of Funky Junk?
Carmsie : Funky Junk is a large, 3D immersive virtual artwork (aka destination) that's currently in development. Thanks to LEA's Land Grant program, and the wonderful volunteers who keep it all ticking over, I’m having tons of fun creating its strange landscape and unique inhabitants. It’s hard to describe but Funky Junk is sort of a whimsical, post-apocalyptic, mini-world where trash, waste, bent and broken stuff is truly treasured. Most things in Funky Junk are made of, or contain, remnant artifacts of the species that once lived there, namely Avatars. The strange beings that now reside at Funky Junk have come up with some ingenious methods of farming and manufacturing goods, not to mention a seemingly haphazard approach to building and construction. Be sure to explore under the water too!

Dean : What was the process of building the sim?
Carmsie : To begin with there was a LEA Land Grant submission process that required me to tender a proposal. I came up with the idea of using Junk and gave LEA a rough outline of what the sim would ultimately look like. After I submitted my proposal there was a period of time where I waited for LEA’s decision. On the strength of wishful thinking I started making bits and pieces for the sim. I built some furniture, some weird looking inhabitants and also a few large, complex components. The challenge was, due to lack of prims, I wasn’t able to see them all together to determine whether they were visually cohesive. It wasn’t until I got the sim (yay by the way!) that I was able check. Ultimately some elements survived others … well … delete! The proposed build is very different from what I am actually creating now, although junk is still at the heart of it. Error and rework, much maligned in the world of business, seem to underpin most of my artistic endeavours. I try something and if it works it stays, if not I hit delete. The proposed concept didn’t gel so the idea has morphed. I’m still building – and loving it!  I should also add that my building skills are limited. For example I can’t make mesh. So my art always contains items I make myself along with others I either have in inventory, are freebies or I purchase. For large builds like this one I also work with a very skilled scripter, Struthious and you’ll find some of Dusty Canning’s creative madness dotted here and there.

Dean : How did you get involved in building? Do you have any words of advice for people that are new to Second Life who might be interested in creating content in the virtual world?
Carmsie : As I mentioned earlier, I came to SL specifically because I wanted to build. When I arrived I knew zero but, as so many have, I began by visiting Ivory Tower in SL. From then on you could not stop me rezzing prims and trying things out. Along the way I taught myself Photoshop and some basic scripting – rather how to edit scripts. I also started making sounds using Audacity to incorporate into my builds. A few very strange ones can be downloaded for free from my Carmsie account at Freesound.org.
It has taken me years to develop my skills and I still feel like a novice in many, many respects. But that’s the beauty of SL and what keeps me interested – there’s always more to learn.
In terms of advice for new builders I suggest they start with easy things. Don’t try to make anything too complex to begin with or you could become discouraged. Lots of small wins is better than one giant flop.  Also, use the resources that are readily available – in world places like Builders Brewery, websites and YouTube videos contain a wealth of info and freebies you can draw on. And keep in mind that every single thing you make in SL, even if you botch it, expands your knowledge and competence in some way. So keep at it. Practice makes perfect … or at the very least really big improvements.

Dean : Is there anything else you would like people to know about Funky Junk?
Carmsie : There is one thing I have not mentioned. I am trying a little multi-media experiment with this build. One of Funky Junk’s inhabitants is called Rusty Steele (Rustysteeleblogger Resident) and he’s our official blogger. He has set up a Blog and posts semi-regularly (http://funkyjunksl.weebly.com/).
My aim is use Rusty as a vehicle to help make the development of the sim - the building process itself - part of the overall art experience. Rusty’s posts inform people of new places on the sim that are ready to be seen, even if not 100% complete. He gives them SLurls and they can drop by if they’d like to, or they can just stay informed about the progress via the blog. That way people can feel part of the evolution of the crazy world of Funky Junk as well as seeing it when complete.
An unexpected bonus for me has been some of the feedback visitors offer. There have been lots of comment made along the lines of, “It would be great/funny/interesting if…”  Some of these ideas are just a bit too out-there but others have been total gems and I’ve added a version of them to the sim.
Rusty will kill me if I close without mentioning that all visitors can get a full Rusty Steele avatar for free, including shape and AO, from Funky Junk’s Blog Office in world. So if an uber-hot, corroded look (his own words) is what you’re after, you can become Rusty’s virtual twin!

Ways to Open the Door to Dream Interpretation by Linda Lauren

My late mother was known among family and friends as the “Dream Lady” because she carried around with her a dream interpretation book, as well as a canary yellow legal notebook that contained her own meanings to the dreams she interpreted over the years. Through her I learned that we all dream every night, but we do not always recall them. When we do recall our dreams we usually remember them in black and white, even though we may be dreaming in color. However, it’s been my experience that if we do more dream-work preparation prior to sleep, we can piece together a message and meaning, and decipher the intended meaning our dreams might imply. We can work through our issues at night during sleep, and process them through our dreamlike meandering. It is a healthy and safe way to reflect on the things that are foremost on our minds. Remembering is helpful to us emotionally, physically and spiritually if we understand a little about what our dreams are telling us.

In order to interpret those nighttime vignettes you have while sleeping, there are three things to keep in mind to help with more active, detail recall.

  1. Keep a journal of some type (electronic or otherwise) at your bedside so that you can reach for it without getting out of bed. A lot of significant elements will be fresher at that time, and dream recall is all in the details.
  2. Pay special attention to what you experienced regarding the five senses. Take into account any people, images, colors, time of day, smell, sound, or any experience. Nothing you note is insignificant.
  3. Though you can purchase a dream dictionary or look the definition of certain words up on the Internet, please keep in mind that no definition is etched in stone. There are as many interpretations as there are dreams, so you will never get a clear indication of meaning unless you use the definitions only as a guideline. So, jot down your own meanings as they apply to your life in your journal, too.

Once you have gathered your information and logged it into your journal, scan over the meanings and see what applies to your life and/or situation. It will be those applications that should be jotted down more seriously because they relate to what is foremost on your mind during sleep. By writing down and examining our sleep-filled reverie, we can work out problems and exorcise negative thinking so that we are happier and healthier.

Avie Poll: Is Second Life just a game, or an extension of your life?- Lilly Lacewing Reporting.

For many people, Second Life is a great recreation, for others, life would be very lonely, boring, and painful without it. First, let me introduce you to our cast of characters for this poll.

Polly*: 45. Mother of three, divorced, on disability for Multiple Sclerosis as well as the host of secondary problems MS can cause.

John*: 37. Suffers from crippling social anxiety, works in IT. No kids, not married. Recently was fired because they discovered he’d been using Cannabis to treat his anxiety (in a legal state no less,) but has been a prolific SL builder for years, which is now his source of income completely.

Letty*: 24. Lives with her parents due to a car accident that left her a paraplegic with an as yet undiagnosed neurological issue that causes occasional bouts of black-out amniesia, headaches daily, and problems with memory.

 Without further ado, let’s get into it!

Lilly: How has Second Life helped you? (In ANY ways relevant.)

John: Well, I don’t have that same overwhelming anxiety meeting new people on SL like I do in RL. Luckily, working in IT means my contact with others is minimal, but that doesn’t mean I don’t still crave a social life, friends, girlfriends, etc.

Letty: For me, Second Life has been a blessing because it’s always a task for me to have to go anywhere. My accident left me with some weakness on my right side, add that to paralysis and you can see how hard getting out in RL can be. I have to have my mom help me into her van, that she had to pay thousands of dollars to have a wheelchair lift installed, not to mention she has to lift me into the van, and she has back problems. My dad helps where he can, but he has early onset Alzhiemers’, and often needs more help than I do. Second Life is a way me to go make new friends, go to movies with them (SL is riddled with movie theatres,), and do any number of things I can’t with my body. You have no idea how therapeutic that is.

Polly: For me, I just can’t AFFORD to have a social life, with such a limited income, and three kids to try to care for too. If it wasn’t for my mother in law, who cares about her grandkids more than their own father, taking us in to her home, we never would have made it! But in Second Life? If I have even so little as 5 dollars left at the end of the month, I can change that over into Lindens and buy beautiful dresses, jewelry…basically, I dress her like I would dress me if I could afford, only about 15 years younger! (laughs)

Lilly: So then, would you say that Second Life is just a game, or an extension of your real life?

Letty (laughing): This IS my real life! So yeah, way more than just a dinky game!

John: Well, I DO love gaming, so I can see how it could honestly be both. It is a game, or it starts out that way, then for some people, it becomes an extension of their lives, for me, it’s definitely an extension of my life, because on the rare occasions I do try to go out with friends, it’s a tense, chaotic experience of nerves and insecurities overwhelming you. In Second Life, I can go to a nightclub, full of beautiful people and not be self conscious because on here, even though we look different, you cannot argue we aren’t made out of all the same parts. So yeah, that’s something SL could teach RL at this point!

Polly: I really don’t know how to not repeat myself from the last question, but for me, it’s definitely an extension of my real life. I’ve even talked a couple of my girlfriends into creating accounts so when we’re all swamped with RL obligations and can’t see each other, at least by the end of the day, and when everything is done, then we can all get on together, and go clubbing! I’m not about to try that in RL, I know everyone still tries to tell me 45 is young, but it’s not young enough to go to the places I can go in SL, or wear the things I want to wear in SL in RL, it just wouldn’t work. Please don’t take this as low self esteem, I’m just being a realist. Who wants to dance with the spastic 45 year old woman when there are a bunch of young, healthy things flitting in and out of reach like so many perfect butterflies? No thanks, I’ll go to a club here and fit in with the butterflies, thanks!
