For those few of you who have not been to see the Grand Canyon, Second Life, you are truly missing out on one of the Seven Wonders of The Virtual World. Built by Lis Dubrovna, she has pioneered all kinds of new techniques in Virtual World Construction. While creating the Grand Canyon, with its spectacular vistas and unending beauty, she came up with a unique solution to the question of what to do with all the pixels she scooped out to make the canyons. Rather than simply allow them to default back to Linden Labs, she repurposed all those pixels and built an adjoining wonder: Mount Everest.
Well, Folks,
she’s done it again. With the help of
her partner and Business Manager, Stephen, she has created yet ANOTHER wonder
of the virtual world: Mount Fuji Village.
I saw the
notice, announcing the Grand Opening of Mt Fuji Village, and thought I would go
check it out.
While there,
I came upon Lis and Stephen, finishing up a row of red ceramic roofing shingles
on one of the buildings. They paused
from their labors long enough to answer a few questions for you, the SL
Enquirer Reader.
Josh (Thonmas1 Bellic) (JB): What an amazing build. Where do you get the inspiration for a Mount Fuji Village?
Lisisme
Dubrovna (LD): I had already done a Tibetan village at my Mt. Everest sim so
when my builder friend Stephi (StephiDreamEvermore Doune) gave me some
incredibly well made and authentic new parts, I realized the potential for
building a much larger Japanese themed village at Grand Canyon South where I
had plenty of available prims.
JB: This is a highly detailed build, with
literally dozens of huts, rooms, common areas, activities, etc. It must have taken months to pull it all
together. How much time did you actually
spend on this project?
LD: As all builders in SL know, it is a passion
to build, and when you have been building for a while, you visualize the dream, and then building it becomes rather straightforward. Stephen Fafler and I
spent 3 days getting the core of the village built, although we still have a few
areas and buildings to tweak. The overall vision of this village will obviously
continue to evolve as we add more activities and structures to this sim. The
vision includes having the village at the center and then continuing to expand
with residential areas, and other iconic Japanese structures and landmarks.
JB: How big a crew did you have helping you?
LD: As the creator of multiple sims, like the
Grand Canyon, Mt Everest, and Crater Lake, to name a few, I have learned that
when it comes to terraforming and building, having too many cooks in the
kitchen, so to speak, doesn’t always speed up the project. For the Mount Fuji Village, there were only three (3) people involved. My friend Stephi (StephiDreamEvermore
Doune) gave me some wonderfully constructed structures, and I did most of the
positioning and layout with Stephen Fafler adding a lot of the detail work. More than the size of the team, it really
comes down to experience. Working with
people like Stephen and Stephi, is always a lot of fun. Our skill level and
experience wonderfully complement each other.
JB: From a shrine/Temple to the Spirits, to a massage
parlor/Temple to the Body, this place has it all. Are you finished building here? Or are there still ideas you want to develop further?
LD: We are so passionately driven to help make
incredible experiences and activities for SL residents, that I am happy to say
that no, we are probably never going to stop building and improving this area.
We constantly think of new ideas and get some wonderful ideas and feedback from
our visitors and friends. We are considering things like a Shibari room - not
in the BDSM style - we want it to be a learning place for the art of Shibari.
Perhaps a Sumo wrestling area, Japanese tea ceremonies, and themed residential
areas, just to mention a few.
JB: I understand you even have residences for rent? What are those like and what is included
there?
LD: We will be building a few themed residential
areas on the outside of the Mount Fuji village. The residences will be
furnished with top-of-the-line furniture and accessories and they will be
reasonably priced.
JB: Tell me about some of your other favorite areas in the Village.
LD: I love the Japanese furnished home and the
veggie market and the seating area there. I
love the balloon tour Stephen created and also the beauty parlor spa. Actually,
I love all of it and I envision people using the different areas and having a
great time.
Stephen
Fafler (SF): The temple and meditation
areas are serene and the waterfall areas are wonderful to see and hear. I
really enjoy the interactive garden near the market. It’s a lot of fun.
JB: Have you given thought to any kinds of Special Events to attract visitors? What might they be?
LD: We are planning a Scavenger Hunt with prizes.
We will also have a Pogo Stick Race on a course around the village with a 1st,
2nd and 3rd prize in cash. We have also considered Karaoke contests and
Japanese costume competitions. Residents can join the Grand Canyon Group to get
announcements about new attractions and activities.
JB: Mount Everest, and now Mount Fuji? What’s next? Maybe a Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii? Or perhaps a Mount Kilimanjaro and Serengeti Plains theme?
LD: We would love to continue to realize our
dreams in so many ways here in SL, but like all things, we want to focus on
things that residents will really enjoy, visit and recommend to others.
Building in SL is living art to us, and we hope to find sponsors to help us
expand the art of the possible well into the future.
JB: Is there anything else you would care to
share with our readers?
LD: We
really want to let residents know that the Mt Fuji Village is free and built
for their enjoyment and entertainment. Just like all of our other sims, we do
hope for voluntary donations so that we can continue to enhance the experiences
for all SL residents that visit.
So, there you have it, folks. Some places are just too lovely to describe and you really need to see it for yourself. Go by yourself or better yet, take a friend and explore together the wonders of Mount Fuji Village.
Be
there. Aloha!
JB

Interview with Neternal
SLE: Where are you from and how did you discover Second Life?
Neternal: I am from the UK and I discovered Second Life in the bottom of a box of Cocoa Krispies, while I was looking for a free gift.
SLE: Interesting. Not sure what to say to that but OK! Would you say Second Life is an extension of your real life or just a game?
Neternal: Second Life is an immersive experience, it's both a game and an extension of my real life. There are people from my real life that I have brought into Second Life, as well.
SLE: Oh very cool. Congratulations on your grand opening of The Fox Club! Can you tell us about The Fox Club and your team?
Neternal: The Fox Club is an upscale, very adult venue with a lot to offer. We have a beautifully peaceful landscaped beach for folks to enjoy and relax on at the ground level. In our sky, we have a stunning mystical wintry ballroom for those romantic moments you want to just lose yourself in another's arms. There is the new Neon Bar room for those with a colorful flair for fun. Our main dance club area features dance platforms, poles. a bar to sit - if people-watching is more your thing! Fridays through Mondays have live DJs performing from 12 pm - 6 pm SLT. Thursdays through Saturday, after 6 pm, Tabby's After Dark takes over the main club from 6 pm - ? depending on how festive the crowd is. And every day, 24/7 Tabby's upscale strip club is open for your pleasure! And there is adult furniture throughout the sim for your kinks and happiness!
My team in a word is magnificent. My General Manager, Tabitha Mercury has really come in pumped up and ready to take Fox Club to the next level with me. We really are on the same page, it's almost scary. My Assistant Manager, DonovanQuinn, comes with vast management experience and was Tabby's General Manager for over the past year. They are reliable and dependable. They work closely together with me to make Fox Club the finest adult establishment on the grid.
SLE: You have a lot going on at The Fox Club and it sounds like you have a tight team. That’s always a good thing. This is a very adult establishment. What type of services do you offer?
Neternal: Bl**jobs and steak sandwiches. But on a serious note, we have a beach, a stunning mystical ballroom, a modern main dance club with cells, fun and new Neon Bar, and an upscale strip club, Tabby's on-site. We have adult furniture throughout for everyone to enjoy and the craziest wild parties and fun themes on the grid!
SLE: Wow! Whatever happened to chicken wings being a thing at the strip club? Lol Anyway. With all the club venues in Second Life, what made you decide to open one, and what will be different from the others that will attract your clientele?
Neternal: Several years ago, I owned Equine Island Vanity Fair Horseshow and had won an Avi Choice Award after entering the first time at the last one they held. After some time, I decided that maybe I would try my hand at a club owner, as I am a bit of a party person and I could see if I could be a success in that as well.
SLE: Congrats on that prestigious award! We wish you great success in your new venture. With owning an adult club it comes with some responsibilities. What types of rules do you enforce at The Fox Club to keep youngins out of the club and your dancers and escorts safe?
Neternal: The Fox Club is on Adult land, so we do not allow persons less than adult age on our sim. We ban child avatars on the spot and report those who are suspected to be minors to LL.
SLE: You have DJs and you state Live Music also. Have you booked any live music and if so tell the readers of the musicians you have coming to your venue soon?
Neternal: We have had Mavenn perform here twice already, and she will be coming back again in the future. Right now, we are in talks with several performers to try to provide a variety of live music to feature as well on a regular basis. We will keep you posted! We currently are working on booking a performer for our October 30th Fall Formal dance in our Mystic Ballroom.
SLE: You say that you have themed events. What kinds of themes do you cover or do they change weekly?
Neternal: We have a changing weekly theme on Saturdays for Fox Club, last month they are Neon Night, which just passed, Schoolgirls Saturday Detention, Star Wars, and Luxurious Lingerie Ladies Night. Tabby's After Dark features themes on Fridays. Fetish Friday that just passed, was a double birthday party as well. We also have a Beach Party on our beach, One Item party, Angels & Demons and more coming up.
SLE: Are you currently hiring? If so, what positions do you have available? And if so, who shall they contact to give you their resume?
Neternal: We are always hiring. We need DJs and Hosts for Fox Club and Tabby's is always hiring dancers and escorts as well. Anyone who would like to work for Fox Club can contact:
Hosts/DJs: DonovanQuinn Resident or Tabitha.Mercury
Dancers/Escorts: Angelixa69 Resident or Tabitha.Mercury

The US Navy in SL 2nd Fleet opens its doors with an Open Day focused on Naval Aviation!
A little background, my Irish maternal grandmother was into magic, you could say a witch. From what I have been told, it is passed down through generations tracing back to Scotland and the druids. Something I knew bits and pieces about growing up but she never involved me in it or explained her practices.
I remember she had a shrine set up in her bedroom with saints, a bible, rosaries, and bottles of oil with rolled pieces of paper inside. I remember asking what were in the bottles, and she would just tell me they were for protection. She also had an Ouija board tucked away on the top shelf in her laundry room. My cousin and I once brought it out and were scolded and told never to play with it. It wasn’t a toy. I never touched one ever again. There was also a Native American Chief statue in the living room with offerings of change in his lap. All I knew was it was forbidden to take any of it or bad things would happen.
The first incident I can remember being a result of taking change was when my little brother took some to buy candy at the local corner store. He was about seven at the time. Not soon after, his bed caught on fire but thankfully it was put out quickly and no one was hurt. Either my brother was playing with matches or something else, it looked like a warning to me never to test magic.
Again when I was about 12, we woke up one morning to white powder sprinkled outside our front and back door. My grandmother said it was from someone who wished us harm and she did a spell reversal and the woman/witch who had done the curse, her husband died in a tragic construction site accident while digging a trench and it collapsed a few weeks later. That convinced me that magic was real. My grandmother passed away a week before my 13th birthday and I was devastated. She raised me up until that point.
Ever since I always felt like an outsider. Early on I realized not many were accepting of strange questions or premonitions I shared. I thought it was normal and everyone had the ability to have a “knowing” something was about to happen or details of someone’s life that would come out of thin air.
Kids can be cruel and treat you like you have the cooties or think you are crazy. I doubted myself for many years despite the constant “coincidences” and events that I knew about before they happened. Like knowing the gender and features of an unborn baby, absorbing others’ energy, and feeling their emotions. Being in big crowds can be overwhelming.
In high school, I freaked out a classmate who was pregnant unintentionally. We got to talking. I asked if she wanted to know what she was having and she said she was going to find out the gender at her next appointment. I told her she was having a boy with lots of dark hair. About a week later, she came up to me and said, it’s a girl with a smirk on her face, almost as if mocking me. I should have trusted science, right? But the feeling was so strong I did not back down from telling her it would be a boy because that is what I saw in my mind’s eye. When he was born with a full head of dark hair, she was shocked and had to return all the pink things she bought.
In my teenage years, things seemed to pick up. Not only was I sensing things but starting to feel the physical effects of spirit energy and sensing things around me I could not see. The only way I can describe it is, a TV turned on in a room with no volume. It’s like static in the air. If it is something negative, I'd feel it in my chest and feel anxious.
One summer night in particular at about 19 years old, I went out with a group of friends to a park under a bridge right outside the city where I lived. It was about 1 am-ish. As we got out of the car, me being in the back right passenger seat, I immediately felt a pull to the edge of the river. As my friends were bantering in the background. I approached the river and stared straight out into the darkness, I could only see the water and the trees along the bank. It was eerie but something was not right.
I started to shake with what I can only describe as a deep inner chill where you can feel it creep up your back and make your hairs stand on your arms and neck. A quick shiver and then the feelings of dread came. I got paranoid as if something very bad happened. I remember turning around and telling my friends I wanted to go. They were confused but saw how visibly shaken I was they brought me home. The next morning I got a call from one of my friends who was with us. I remember her tone sounding nervous as she proceeded to tell me that last night around the same time we were at the river, across the lake a car full of teenagers flipped upside down in about 6 ft of water and drowned. I was horrified but understood the feelings that bombarded me the night before. I found out later that one of the boys that drowned was my cousin’s best friend. Maybe that was the connection.
In my early 20’s I felt I needed to find some sort of understanding around the feelings and visions I was seeing. I went to a candle shop that was owned by two shamans. We got to talking and they mentioned enlightenment classes that they hosted after hours in the back of the shop. These types of sessions aren’t prominently displayed to just anyone who enters the shop. These shamans picked up right away that I was a“sensitive”.
I signed up and would meet once a week there with others who were sensitives and looking for answers. It was an eye-opening experience to know I was not alone and I could talk freely with them about my experiences and not be judged or looked at like I was crazy. We would do different exercises, give each other readings, and learn techniques for protecting ourselves. The more involved I got, the more open I became.
I used to use a WebTV to chat away in various chat rooms as a way to give anonymous readings. One morning, while I was online, I distinctly heard a woman’s voice in the same room simply say “Hi”. It frightened me so bad. I’ve always been more sensitive to feeling things but becoming audio was a whole nother level. I wasn’t ready to hear or see spirit.
I consulted a psychic medium to get answers of my own and what she told me was one of my spiritual guides was trying to get my attention. Turns out I was pregnant. I was also told by another medium that I was more powerful than I realized. What does one say to that? I know I still haven't reached my fullest potential and still question myself at times. I remember asking the shamans where it comes from and I was told I’d go crazy trying to figure it out, just accept it.
The last straw that made me push down my abilities was during a session with the shamans and the other sensitives. We formed a circle around a small wooden accent table. With only our fingertips at the edge and following the humming of the shamans using a tuning fork, we were able to move the table a few inches across the floor. Being so young and still learning what the power of energy can do was a lot for me to handle and I never returned to those sessions. I became afraid of this gift and for years pushed it down and rarely spoke about it.
My father, who is a devout Catholic, is a skeptic so I never really talk about it with him. He accused me of doing witchcraft during my time with the shamans so I asked him if he prayed. He said yes. Then I said he is talking to a spirit, how is it any different?. That was the end of that conversation.
When I discovered SIMS Online I became fascinated with the opportunity to meet and talk to people from around the world. I realized I can pick up on people’s energy in a virtual world, so I began doing readings there. It was anonymous and it restored my confidence in this gift. After a while, it got exhausting and drained me of energy. My hands would literally turn as cold as ice. Again, It became too much and I stopped for a while and moved on to other things.
After a couple of years, I came to Second Life, and away from doing readings. I still pick up random things from people I come across at concerts, events, and in my friend groups, sometimes sharing info that freaks them out and sometimes not. I still find myself doubting these abilities and questioning if it is really a gift if it’s only bits and pieces of information that validates what I envisioned or felt, but I often wonder how it is helping others.
Throughout the years I’ve gone to real haunted houses, been in a murder house, ghost tours, visited Salem, Mass, got to be in a room alone and touch one of the 13 crystal skulls “Max”, as well as walked the halls of Pennhurst Asylum.
I don’t know if it's to test my abilities and continue to freak myself out, but I’m drawn to it and have experiences every time. My daughter who is now in her early 20’s also experiencing things the way I do and we do our tours together. We still have Gettysburg and Penn State Penitentiary on our bucket list.
I’m not here to make believers out of skeptics but what I do know is energy never dies. Our departed loved ones are watching over us and at times guide us. Sometimes they even give us signs. Maybe a certain song comes on the radio around their birthday, a scent, even using butterflies or birds to show they are present in our lives. When you get a bad feeling about something or someone, always trust your first instinct. They are warning you.
We all have this ability within us, some are just not open, afraid of it, don’t understand it, or have a lot of self-growing to do before they can really be enlightened. If you find yourself experiencing premonitions, pay attention, meditate, and learn more about it. Also remember bad intent on others is not good because karma is real.
I’m open to giving readings in Second Life but I am not ready to reveal myself and be subjected to griefers who would want to burn me at the stake.
