Spooky Strides is having its 1st annual Halloween Event in Second Life from October 22nd to October 31st, 2021. This spectacularly spooky Halloween event will be bringing the Second Life community a spooky fun event that will be supporting Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, an American Cancer Society campaign. The Event will feature a Halloween Amusement Park along with merchants, exhibits and entertainers. Join us as the community comes together to support finding a cure for breast cancer. The reality is so much more romantic and so LUXE Paris! The second grand finalist of the prestigious LUXE Paris LOOK of the YEAR competition was born in Paris to a true French count and a half French, half British mother.

''My father was a count and a decorated pilot of the French Air Force ”, continues Royale, generously sharing much of her real-life with us. '' My mother served with the Red Cross during WWII and she met my father on a blind date in Paris. My parents were always entertaining and their children were included. We had to know how to talk to anyone on any subject and dress appropriately... already whether it was for a prince, a king or a neighbor ''.

Royale's family moved to America when she was 3, but, it didn't really change their lives she says, because of her father's work.

‘’ I think the look of my avatar comes from this lifestyle and from my mother in particular, who was always elegant, with simplicity and classicism", adds Royale.

Valsnia: Wow! I didn't know I was talking to royalty! Have you met famous personalities?

Royale: I have met quite a few dignitaries from many other countries, many whose names would mean nothing to you. Better known, there are Prince Pierre of Greece and General Charles de Gaulle who come to my mind.

Valsnia: Is there something from this life that you would like to bring to the world today?

Royale: This world was exciting and full of courtesy, which we miss deeply these days. People genuinely cared about others and their well-being. We don't see that much anymore either. Technology is great because that's how we met, Valsnia, but it shapes the world that we are living in today ... One of my favourite sayings is "Anonymity breeds bravado!" We see examples of this several times a day. If I had a magic wand I would restore civility in our society ''.

Valsnia: This piques my curiosity, have you ever considered hosting an event in SL to promote your cause?

Royale: Yes, but it takes an enormous amount of time to organize something like this. I am my mother's caregiver, which takes me a lot of time. She will turn 100 in October, it's amazing! However, this is something I have in mind and maybe I will try to do next year.

‘’In real life, everyone tends to run in jeans and t-shirt while in Second Life you can express yourself ’’

RoyaleSun came to SL because she is interested in art... in all its forms. She was already using DazStudio, Vue, Modo, and other artistic creation programs. So she was about to open an art gallery in SL when she met a girl who was a model and convinced her that she should try that. Quickly became a top model in demand, Royale remains passionate about her virtual profession, nine years later.

Valsnia: What keeps you going?

Royale:  In RL everyone tends to run in jeans and a T-shirt, while in SL you can express yourself with the clothes and the look you wear. What keeps me moving is that passion and I love helping others achieve their passions too.

Valsnia: You own a free modeling academy, Soleil Modelling Academy! What is the story behind this school and why this name?

Royale: There are many in SL who would love to become models, however, modeling schools tend to be out of their financial reach. I remember how hard it was for me 9 years ago so I decided to offer free classes. I don't sugarcoat the life of a model. They have to know up front that they aren't going to make a ton of Lindens, that it is mainly out of pocket, and the hours they will have to spend perfecting their editing and their look and style. It tends to weed out those that are just looking to make money in SL. As to the name, Soleil is French for Sun. Many of my friends call me Sun so it seemed fitting.

Valsnia: Your favourite memory from the LUXE Paris LOOK of the YEAR contest?

Royale: I have several great ones and an embarrassing one. Let's begin with the embarrassing one. Our first meeting was the Brunch with the Judges. Rehearsal was cut short as we ran out of time, so I never saw the tables where we were to sit. Then I was so nervous as Frolic Mills chose to ask me questions that when done with questions, I walked to the right, as directed, right into the water fountain! After that refreshing dip and sodden shoes, I finally found the table and just tp'd to a chair. Not my best ever moment!

                

As to favourite memories, one has to be the day we accidentally met at Posesion. We were both looking for poses. We struck up a friendship that has carried us through the competition and even to this day.

Valsnia: Awww... It is my favourite memory too! Did I tell you I was really intimidated by you? I still am by your talent but as a person I really love you.

SQUID GAME is the latest Netflix survival drama series that is breaking the internet right now. For those of you who have not watched it, you are truly missing out on a twisted series based on Korean childhood games.  Written and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, the storyline is centered around 456 participants who are in major debt. In desperation, participants signed a contract and were given a card with a phone number on the back. They agreed to the terms and made the call to arrange for pick up. Participants are gassed to sleep so they do not know the location of the games. Once there, they are placed in a warehouse with beds and all wearing the same green tracksuits with numbers ranging from 1- 456. The first game is “Red Light, Green Light”...where they find out how the game really works. The prize to one winner is a whopping ₩45.6 billion.

We are excited to announce Squid Game is in Second Life! The SL Enquirer met with Jim Kirk, creator of Squid Game in Second Life for a sneak preview of this new interactive venue and the upcoming first tournament details on October 23rd, 2021. We hope to see you there!

SLE: We are excited to see Squid Game in Second Life! Can you tell our readers what inspired you to create it in Second Life?

Jim: This all came about when I watched the whole squid game series and it just looked like so much fun to play! It was the talk of the town! Seemed as though no one had done an SL version yet, and I love building and scripting so I got started. Within a day or 2, we already had many visitors showing up. Though only the first 2 games were made by then. We've had amazing support from all of the SL community and we are so grateful so many of you are as passionate about this as I am!

 

SLE: We found you in SL search and knew we had to check it out. The Red light Green light set looks exactly like the one on the show.  I’m sure it was a lot of work getting it just right.

 

 

Jim: After a couple of days of working on it, I realized that with all the fuss about it, I needed some help! So my very good friend Bam (PrincessBamb1) came to help out. I worked on creating the games (coding and designing the games) where she worked on making the areas look the part! She's done an amazing job! Though watch out, she might be the one that shoots you ;)

 

SLE: Well you did a fantastic job creating replicas of the games. We have our tracks suits ready! What can you tell us about the games for those who have not seen the series?

 

 

 

Jim: All of the games except the tug of war (marketplace bought) were coded by myself. Though I do believe I will spend a long time improving them all ;) I gave myself the goal of completing (coding) one game per day, and somehow managed to stick to that plan.

 

SLE: I bet the traffic is starting to pick up in SL since this show went viral in real life!

 

Jim: We were so shocked to see that even on day 4 we were getting so many visitors. I spent no time advertising the place at all, I was just there building/coding every day. But every day more and more people showed up. With no advertising, it was amazing to see that on day 4 we already had over 20 group members.

 

 

SLE: We are proud to be sponsoring your version of Squid Games in Second Life and can’t wait to see it in full action. Can you reveal to our readers when the first tournament starts?

 

Jim: With our first tournament being on 23rd October 2021 beginning at 12 pm SLT. 50L to Enter, winner takes all.  we already feel like the place will be packed out on the day. Might even have to put a limit on entrants so we don't crash the sim!

 

So far we have all games completed, however, we will be working on visual improvements and giving it a more realistic feel for a long time to come.

 

SLE: Anything else would you like our readers to know about your version of Squid Games?

 

Jim: We even added the ability for our "Guards" or "Enforcers" to shoot players ;) Feel free to ask for a tour if you see one of our Enforcers around. They'll give you tips on the games and even shoot you if you break a honeycomb! We're really looking forward to this first tournament of ours, and we hope to see you there!

 In the past we smiled at each other.  Then we invented the smiley (2 bytes).  That became the emoji (30 bytes).  Now people send many complicated emojis and they get bigger all the time.  Soon many kilobytes of information will be sent as emojis.

What will we send in the future?  If the data limit of our eyes is reached will we communicate directly via neuralink to our visual cortex?  Will we send each other pictures and videos?  Will we be able to send emotions directly?

If we can communicate with emotions and pictures will there still be a need for words?  Will we lose the ability to use words?

A singer/songwriter/musician from the Philippines, Amberle grew up with several influences that are rooted deep within: her family's deep ties to structured church music combined with her mom's pop/power ballad techniques and her dad's more playful rock/jazz approach to performances.

Amberle knew from early on that music was one of the things that would always make sense, so each and every melody sung from her formative years to the present would impact her song choices that span from the 80's to the present (and a few handpicked original songs thrown in the mix). Intent on initially focusing on acoustic performances, she has added tracks to her arsenal, choosing to lean into a wider array of sounds and styles to convey a wider range of emotions and topics.

With her ever-growing enthusiasm for guitar, vocals, and deft arrangements, Amberle will give you a deeper sense of a raw, stripped-down musical experience.
