GeekSpeak subject for Saturday 23rd July at noon SLT: Can we still pick low-hanging fruit in science?

Science seems to require so much money and so many people nowadays.  But are there still fields where ordinary people, amateurs, can discover things?  In the past a lot of discoveries were made by amateurs, sometimes people like Mary Anning who were not allowed to be professionals.

But even now discoveries are made in astronomy, archaeology, biology and other fields by amateurs.  Amateurs like Clara Lazen or Thomas Bopp.

Perhaps there are fields that exclude amateurs, like materials science.  But who knows?  Join us on Saturday at noon SLT to discover what you could potentially discover.  Put on a lab coat and safety goggles and bring your microscopes.

IM Vulcan Viper, who teaches a meditation class every Wednesday in the GeekSpeak auditorium, if you have ideas for new subjects.

Branding Advice for Any Fashion Business in 2022

Establishing a business is rapidly evolving into a new craze as over 33 million businesses are entering the market. But unfortunately, more than half of these businesses fail in the second year, and those who do survive typically do so because they rely heavily on branding.

Given this dependence, it is clear to see how branding has evolved and plays a big role in every successful business’s growth.

As a fashion entrepreneur, you must understand that your fashion business needs a strong brand identity if you want it to stand out and succeed in its sector.

And because we recognize that branding is a difficult process, we're going to show you three reliable strategies that’d help you create a strong brand and distinguish your company from its competitors.

Three Solid Steps to Building an Excellent Fashion Brand

  1. Pay Close Attention to Customer Satisfaction

You'd be surprised at how frequently business owners launch their businesses before even considering their potential customers and the crucial role their services will play in their lives. This is despite the fact that the majority of entrepreneurs seem to understand that their company cannot excel without a strong brand image and a wide customer base.

Although it’s not a fashion company, Juicero is a fantastic example of a business with a modern product that adds minimal value to the lives of its clients. And because the brand never addressed the problems of its target market, it failed.

Two errors we typically see business owners who don’t respect their clients enough to carry out market research are:

First off, they squander tons of cash on social media marketing for their 'excellent' products and/or services that fall short of their target customers' fundamental needs.

The second mistake is that they fail to see that, despite their small percentage, their most dedicated customers have the economic output that their fashion business requires.

Therefore, be sure you are aware of the difficulties your clients are experiencing if you want your firm to succeed. Find out if they prefer budget-friendly or high-end, pricey fashion items. Dig into their financial standing and preferred fashion trends.

With the help of this knowledge, you'll be able to launch a successful fashion business, think of catchy business name ideas, and develop a tone and personality that appeals to your target market.

  1. Craft an Appealing Personality for Your Fashion Brand

Every dedicated entrepreneur spends a lot of time and energy refining and improving their products until they're just right; likewise, you too must make sure you invest enough time and energy into developing a compelling brand image for your fashion business.

The identity of your business is ultimately influenced by your company's personality, how you sell your services, the ideas you promote, how you connect and communicate online, and the impressions your clients have when employing your services or buying your fashion goods.

However, you must go further with your company's personality if you want your brand to engage clients on a deeper level.

To do so, make your brand's identity a captivating promise to your customers, much like how Gucci guarantees its customers fine workmanship combined with eye-catching and daring designs.

  1. Get Your Company a Strong Brand Name

Building your business's reputation, expanding its internet presence, and attracting a sizable following of committed customers all depend on selecting a distinctive and catchy brand name that can captivate your audience.

The success of your business depends on how customers perceive it. The two best ways to come up with a memorable name for your firm are brainstorming and using a company name generator.

True, creating a great company requires a lot of time and work. Even experienced business people frequently struggle to create a distinctive brand identity for their goods and services, but we are confident that the techniques we’ve shown you above will help you construct an outstanding brand for your fashion business in little time.

TFF: ADULT ENTERTAINMENT FOR THE DISCERNING GUEST – JOSH (THOMAS1 BELLIC) REPORTING/LILIRAYNE PHOTOGRAPHER

SecondLife is arguably the largest, most fantastic, and most diversified of the hundreds of Virtual Worlds out there today.  There are Regions and Sims on this grid that appeal to the most diversified of interests.  Sims devoted to the musical and visual arts, science, literature, philosophy, geography, and entertainment of all manner abound here. One of the more imaginative and creative of the clubs in the area of adult entertainment is “The F**k Fest”, or “TFF” for short.  Run by longtime resident Jaxtorelli (Jax), I was invited to come to see what she had created and was invited to share my findings with our SL Enquirer readers.  While TFF has been here for a while, Jax is in the midst of improving the club to provide an even more exciting Adult Club experience for their guests

Josh (Thomas1 Bellic) JB:   So, tell me…What is it that sets TFF apart from the many other clubs out there with a similar theme?

TFF:  We offer more than the just usual sex club.  We based our joining fee for 500L which gives you free access to Our VIP Lounge which is built in with the price. Our schedule of weekly events put us above the rest of the clubs in SL. For the more adventurous among us, we offer voice, text, and cam escorts and voice verification.  Our animations are Lovense enabled, to add to the realism and pleasure of the guest experience. Additionally, we went to all our members and asked for their desired options and suggestions.  In the feedback we received, the majority of our guests indicated a strong desire that we be voice-enabled and to incorporate voice into our activities.

JB:    Who are the key personnel in the  Management of TFF, and what are their jobs?

TFF:  We have a small but cohesive staff. Jaxtorelli (Jax)  is the owner of TFF. And  Brianna does a phenomenal job as our Stage Dance  Manager.  Additionally, we employ additional staff as dancers, escorts, and general greeters who always make our guests feel most welcome when they visit us.

JB:   Where did you get the idea for TFF, and can you share a bit of the history of TFF?

TFF:  We visited many different adult clubs and other adult and mature builds in SecondLife over the last ten years and one of the shortcomings we noticed was that most of them did not offer voice services. Many of the limitations of text-based communication could be overcome with actual voice communications.  In addition to just being simpler than text, voice offers a chance for more spontaneous and more realistic experiences.  It was at that point that I decided to open my own club with activate voice with verification and Lovense enabled.  I  found this allowed me to offer a much “hotter” and much more appealing experience.  Most of our members agreed with us.

JB:  Do you have any special events planned? What types of events do you have here?

TFF:  Yes, we do hold weekly events.  Monday at 4pm SLT we have our ever-so-popular Naked Naughty Bingo!  Wednesdays at 4pm SLT we host our Naked Foam Pool party every Friday at 4 pm SLT you will find us hosting Messy Sex Games.

JB:    I see a fairly extensive Game Room.  What different types of Games do you have there?

TFF:  Our game room is probably one of the better-equipped game rooms on the entire SL Grid and serves as a gathering place for many of our guests.  Some of the games available for our members include Naked Naughty Bingo , Greedy,Can't Stop,  On A Roll,  Cheesy, Hand & Foot,  Phases ,  Skippo, Sexy Rodeo on Quiz, Beer Pong  , Swingers Game , Reel Of Fortune, Little Devil,Bondzee , MadLibs,  and various free play Casino Games

JB:   Tell us about the various areas that make up TFF?

TFF:   We Offer the Main dance area, where our dancers and escorts reside. Behind the main stage is our Private VIP area, for a more intimate setting with couches, dance poles, and a bar.  The Main Play Area has beds and other devices to delight the senses.  Additionally, for those guests with a penchant for BDSM, what adult club would be complete without a BDSM Dungeon, equipped with all your favorite toys for the discriminating BDSM enthusiast. Then there is our Pool Party area, where we host our weekly Foam Pool Parties, complete with hot tub and sauna.  We also have a spacious Games area where you will find dozens of your favorite games.  To top it all off, we also maintain four private, specially themed skyboxes, to include Red Room BDSM, Paradise Beach, Luxury Purple Room, and,  Baby Girl Room.

JB:   Tell us about your swimming pool?  What is that like?

TFF:  Our Naked Foam Pool Parties are held on every Wednesday at 4pm SLT. We all get together to wind down from a  long work week, where we all take a cool dip in the pool with the added sexy foam. We offer Lovense floats in the pool and hot tubs, towels surrounding the pool, a sex yoga couples mat, a treadmill, and a workout bench.  Additionally, we have a sex sauna that seats up to 4 people at one time,  and massage corner sex swing, pool loungers and  a sexy diving board. This is where we like to relax and chit chat, answer sexy trivia ball questions to get up close and personal with our members! Winks!

JB:      I understand you also have specially themed skyboxes?  What are those like?

TFF:  We offer high-quality standards in our skyboxes  Our Luxury Room theme gives you that honeymoon sexy romantic feeling.  The Baby Girl Room very pink with the princess look and lovely furniture with a  twist of Daddy Dom,  The BDSM Red Room provides guests with a 50 Shades of Grey experience and more with sexy special features and toys.  Finally, we have a secluded Private Paradise Beach with that Tiki touch and beautiful scenery.

JB:      How might someone learn What’s Happening at TFF?

TFF:  We send daily notices out on SL group and we also have an active group on discord for all members to let them know about our activities and upcoming events.  When they are not on SL, we can reach out to them on discord and let them know in advance about what is happening.  Guests can go to our FLICKR  page for all days and times and any other special events.

JB:   Is there anything else you would like to share with our SL Enquirer Readers?

TFF:  We are an “over 18 adult sex club” and we do not judge individuals by their sexuality, nor do we discriminate and will not  tolerate racism or bullying of any kind.  We want people who come here to feel free  and to build up their self-confidence.  We built this club based on what our members wanted and required. We love to have fun and make others happy by bringing them fantasies and kinks,  and we keep working hard to make it a greater place and to keep on  growing our staff and our membership.

GeekSpeak subject for Saturday 16th July at noon SLT: The James Webb Space Telescope! What will it show us?

This week NASA showed us the first images from the JWST.  There will be plenty more to come.  What will we discover?  What answers will the telescope give us?  Will it find life on other planets, perhaps advanced civilizations?  Will it tell us how the universe began?

And when it gives us answers will it also give us new questions?  What questions about the universe do you want answers to?  Can we ever know what the universe really looks like?

Will the JWST change our view of our place in the cosmos?  Does it make you proud to be human?  Or is the sheer size and complexity of the universe frightening?

Join us at GeekSpeak at noon SLT on Saturday to discuss the JWST and its pictures.  Bring your fellow geeks!

PETRA STEELE REINVENTED – DIRECTOR OF NEW EVENTS AT FRANK’S ENTERTAINMENT GROUP: JOSH (THOMAS1 BELLIC) REPORTING

NOTE NOTE NOTE:  When first posted, this article mistakenly said the next DJ Spin-Off is July 17th.  The Corrected date is JULY 24

I first met Petra Steele while reviewing a new sim she was opening – a place called Steele Pointe, In the course of my research for that piece, the more I learned about this amazing woman, the more impressed I became. With an iconic style among the myriad of artists/entertainers than make up this amazing place, Petra has become something of a mainstay in the world of SecondLife entertainment. Her talents as an artist, writer, builder, manager, dancer, comedian, and musician seem to know no bounds. A noteworthy contributor to the world of the virtual, Petra accepts the accolades with grace and style. Never standing still, Miss Steele is always thinking about the next “big idea” in Grid Entertainment.

The other night while I was dancing at one of my favorite dance venues in SL, I bumped into Steele, the newly hired Director of Events at Frank’s Entertainment Group. We agreed to get together in a few days to catch up on her latest projects

Josh (Thomas1 Bellis) (JB): Tell us, Miss Steele, something about your background? What first drew you to SL as a medium for artistic expression?

Petra Steele (PS): Well now the fact is I didn't come to SL to find a medium for my artistic aspirations. I came as a writer who had been tasked with reviewing a book by MIT professor and Lacanian analyst Sherry Turkle, entitled "Together Alone.” It is a marvelous book exploring how the interface of artificial intelligence and the human psyche have substantively changed the way we relate to one another. Inclusive of the subject was the examination of the impact that virtual worlds were making on human psychology. As I had never experienced a virtual world, I chose Second Life. I spent enough time here to write the review for the International Journal of Analytical Psychology and then....and then, I discovered Frank's Jazz and became a lounge lizard.

JB: You have opened retreat centers, musical venues, comedy clubs...the list goes on. Tell us about some of your more noteworthy creations here in SL?

PS: A few corrections...while I built two comedy clubs, I never actually opened them. This was, in part, due to the fact that a few years ago comedy was not considered a form of entertainment that is easily translated to the SL medium. But as for those endeavors I consider noteworthy is my first foray into venue ownership, The SL Playboy Mansion sim. I had very little experience at that point but I did have a large staff and we were able to launch many forms of entertainment in the myriad venues we had on that sim. I've opened Steele Street, a live music and residential venue in an urban setting. Later I reopened the original Petra's on a full sim which I built mostly on my own with some help from a very good friend. It was a beautiful sim and I still look at photos of it when I get sentimental.

But perhaps my greatest achievement in venue ownership was the original Petra's which was located on a half sim and where you can say I cut my teeth on how to run a live music venue, I must mention that I was fortunate enough to have had two remarkable GMs, RJ Dragon and later Hera Titan. I owe a great debt to them both. I miss the old Petra's and in my weaker moments I think of reopening it but honestly, I don't see that happening.

JB. What would you consider to be your greatest achievement and contribution to the SecondLife Grid?

PS. This answer is going to get me into trouble but let me first say that I mean no disrespect to the other very fine venues in SL. The remark I heard most from both entertainers and patrons was that my venues were, beautifully appointed and decorated, that our programming, which relied on the careful crafting of Lineups, and our penchant for 6-to-10-hour Music Festivals. Those were exciting events; I think in large part due not only to the stellar talent we booked but also to the careful and logical progression of acts in the lineup. The other issue that was mentioned to me was that my venues and events were of high standards and, forgive me, "classy". Of course, I had great examples to follow in this regard, especially The Frank's Entertainment Group where I am now employed as Director of New Events.

JB: What’s next in the life of Petra Steele? What can we look forward to in the near future?

PS: Right now, my sights are set on bringing newly conceptualized events to the FEG venues. We have added the Frank's Championship DJ Spin Off and that event is catching on each round. Currently, we have DJ Sharcrista Quan taking an early lead followed closely by DJ Rosabella and DJ Filo Tani. You can catch the next Spin Off at Frank’s Jazz, poolside on Sunday, July 24 at 7PM (HTTP://maps.secondlife/Frank;s%20Jass%20Club/45/118/24)

There are several other events I am proposing internally and we will announce them as I work these through the details with our GM, Ms Persia Silverblade and our owner, Mr.William Zeta. I am very proud to be a part of the FEG organization. The staff is peerless as is the management..

I think my plate is full at the moment and my focus on being able to make a substantive contribution to an organization that has long held my admiration and respect

JB: What is so unique about this opportunity presented to you?

PS: Well, it’s not every day one is offered a position that allows the opportunity for much freedom in proposing events of my own creation and to see them happen. I love being part of a larger group of people with the same goal but this job also allows me a measure of independence which I believe is enviable and also much appreciated in the confidence that is being placed on me.

JB: Is there anything else you would like to share with our SL Enquirer readers?

PS: As per usual Josh, your well-formulated and relevant questions have covered the ground I'd consider most important. Thank you for your time and talent it's always a pleasure.

JB: The pleasure is mine, I assure you, Petra. Mine, and that of our readers. Best of luck in your newest of adventures. It is a pleasure to see you working again.

So, there you have it folks - the inside scoop from the woman who knows. Franks Entertainment Group has long been recognized as one of the best entertainment venues on the grid, and the one by which many others are measured. Now, with Petra Steele as their new Director of New Events, that standard of excellence promises to become even more so. Go check ‘em out. Stay for a dance. Stay for an hour, or stay for an evening. You’ll be glad you did. Tell ‘em “Josh sent ya”

Be There! Aloha!

Paul Nowles at Nitas Birthday Party

In Memory of Paul Nowles- Entertainer Extraordinaire - ORION BARAL REPORTING

In Memory of Paul Nowles
RIP July 7th, 2022

7/8/2022
The SL Enquirer is saddest by this news today. Paul was a beautiful soul who shared his talent with fans across the grid. Not only was he a great entertainer, but he was also kind and a dear friend to not only us but to many. Our most heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends. He will be missed by many.

Please share your memories in the comment box below
Original Post: 9/27/20
Music means so many things to so many people. You can not ask two people and get the same answer. That is one thing that I truly love about getting to meet people in the music industry in Second Life. Hearing their journey and able to bring it to you, the readers so you can learn more about these great performers.

Orion Baral (OB): How did you discover Second Life and get involved in the music scene?

Paul Nowles (PN): I remember seeing ads for second life in an Omni Magazine - yes I am that old and that geeky. I must have watched Lawnmowerman about 100 times since it came out and I was always fascinated by the idea of experiencing a virtual world. I read  a scifi story once that actually described living in SL to perfection, right down to a virtual person walking into a virtual music venue - long before SL even existed. And it hit me, even then, that you could meet people from everywhere. A world outside the world. I signed up for Secondlife and bounced around for a few months and then finally caught a live performer singing and playing guitar...So in a previous incarnation I started a venue. And hired some good performers. I did that until it imploded. Then I found McCoy's Island. I created my Paul Nowles avatar and auditioned. Fell in with the right people at Sunshine Daydream and the Whiskey Go-round and the rest... is proverbial history...:P)

OB: How long have you been performing in RL and in SL?

PN: Since Kindergarten... truly.. I was singing "Raindrops keep falling on my head" and knew all the words. My teacher was so impressed I knew the whole song she took me around to perform it to all the classrooms in my school. As I got older, I didn't like school much and started gravitating to the choir room (to hideout). I started singing with the choir. Then my mother had this "brilliant" idea that my cousin and I should join The Singing Angels... It was a very big choir group that performed nationally and worldwide. Bob Hope (who is from Cleveland) used to have them perform the closing of his Christmas TV specials. I never got to meet Bob, never went to Japan, but it was the best vocal training that you could get in those days.

Then I turned thirteen, and discovered sex and rock-N-roll- I quit the Singing Angels, holed up in my parent's garage for an entire summer, and learned to play a piece of wood with six metal strings... that literally was my first guitar.  Then my parents got me a better guitar - and a headphone amp... (for their own sanity).

Played in junior high and high school bands, apprenticed in a home recording studio, started playing in local bars at sixteen with bands twice my age - and never got busted for being at the bar... we all had long hair back then so it was sometimes hard to tell age...
Took a ten-year break from music and recording, then I discovered that recording had gone digital. I still have my old 16 track Fostex B16 reel to reel with the 1/2 inch tape... geek - told you… I was amazed at how much you could manipulate sound on a computer. So I started playing again.
SL I've been singing for the last 11 years. So all told, I've been performing for like 1/2 a cen... can we move on to the next question? :)

OB: What Genre of music do you cover?

PN: Classic Rock - which is the music I think most of us grew up with.
Bob Seger, Bon Jovi, Journey, Warren Zevon, etc..
Johnny Cash - Hurt - is actually written by Trent Reznor and is bone chilling
with that deep resonant voice.
But lately, I have been featuring music from Cleveland and New Jersey -
local acts like Michael Stanley Band, Beau Coup, American Noise, Circus, Jonah Koslen...
These are the bands I heard in the bars and had the biggest influence over my musical tastes.
And I am looking at expanding into doing the Blues as well.

OB: Do you write your own music?

PN: I started writing when I was 13 and playing guitar. I've written at least two dozen
songs over the years and redid a few as an adult in the studio and perform them here in SL.
I like big sounding tracks to sing with so there is full instrumentation on all my studio tracks.
I also have the honor of having co-written a song with my awesomely talented friend PMann Sands. He graciously asked me to work on a song he was writing and had the music but needed lyrics and vocal parts and his only stipulation were that it be called "Believe What you Want". So I went into the studio and created the best lyrics I could for the song and added a sax solo to it (guitar synth), and we both are the proud copyright holders. Video on Youtube of the Facebook video stream.

OB: What instruments do you play?

PN: Mostly guitar, but a little drums, keyboards, and bass. These days I can do an entire song with my guitar synth for all the parts, hence my main instrument is... the computer and my recording software. These days you can make music by pushing a button (although there is more to it). But to make it sound real, you have to understand the actual instruments and the techniques used to make them sound so good. I love sampling and making music with sounds that may not have started as being musical, boxes with a lot of bass on them can make for a tight sounding kick drum, grease sizzling can make for a great high hat sound
with the right effects... I experiment. I love my looper too, great songwriting tool for making quick multitrack sounding clips.

OB: How often do you perform in Second Life?

PN: I recall a time when I would do seven shows on a Sunday. Then my voice would give out. James Brown is the hardest working man in showbiz, I almost qualified for the virtual world..lol. But nowadays you can usually find me singing somewhere about 4-5 times a week.

OB: Tell me what music means to you?

PN: Insert something very spiritual and humbling... but don't try to come off sounding altruistic. Lol. I will say that it is the one thing that makes me feel exhilarated and for that one moment it's the only thing that matters... and I love sharing that with a room full of friends.
I don't give shows, I put on parties - and you are all invited.

OB: Which musician influenced you to start playing music?

PN: Freddie Mercury and Brian May... Queen - first album was Queen - A Night at the Opera
Tom Scholz - Boston - a brilliant man who created the Rockman headphone amp which
recreated that unique Boston guitar sound. And loved the music they made with it.

OB: Where do you see yourself heading into the future with your music?

PN: I'd love to say "the album is coming out..." or "the tour is starting..."
but it ain't happening. Right now I have the best gig you could ask for,
no lugging heavy gear to do a show, my avie is always dressed like a rocker
so I may be in my shorts and a t-shirt, and I get to sing 4-5 times a week... RL
could be once a month or once every six months. Don't get me wrong if
Jon Bon Jovi or Michael Stanley asked me to tour with them, I'm there.. ya never know.
I do have plans to write more songs so there may be an album in the works...

OB: For bookings who can your fans or Venue owners contact?

PN: Myself or my lovely wife Cheyanne Sinatra - former owner of the awesome Blues Warehouse venue. Where we met:)

OB: Paul thank you for the time and insight behind the man and his music.
Being a boy from Jersey I am really fond of Paul’s music and I am sure if you come to one of his “parties” you will enjoy yourself I am sure.
