Mel Cheeky Singer and Songwriter Bound To Excite –Pandora Drezelan Reporting…

Mel Cheeky is an amazing singer and song writer in real life and Second Life. I went to see her performance at Bound Melodies. Mel talks about how she discovered Second Life, her career and styles of music:

‘I came to Second Life in January 2006. I was told about it by a very good friend of mine and became excited at the prospect of playing live music to a wonderful new audience.’

‘I was already playing my music on other chat based programs, so Second Life was an extension of that.

‘I like all kinds of music from the Carpenters to Extreme, Pearl Jam and heavy rock. I don't really have a favorite; I just know what I like.’

Mel tells us about her song writing, her work and her opinions regarding mixing real life with Second Life:

‘For The Longest Time and Unrequited Love. I think it's so much easier to write a song about pain than it is about happiness.’

‘As far as what goes into a performance, for me It's basically. Log into Second Life, start the stream and away we go :)’

‘When it comes to real life I'm very structured on keeping my values etc with me in Second Life. Everything is black and white to me. I am married, therefore in Second Life, I act as such.’

‘There are no gray areas when it comes to me. That being said, I know there are people behind every avatar. Not everyone is as honest as I am about who they are.’

‘I fondly tell stories all the time of my real life experiences and day to day life from home.’

Mel Cheeky’s Bio:

‘I bought my first guitar and began writing songs in March 2004. Seven years on I've written 57 originals (most are available on iTunes, Amazon and on my website etc) and 100's collaborations with artists worldwide.’

‘I guess I learnt fast LOL. Born and bred in the welsh mountains (Wales, UK). I'm a 33 year old singer, songwriter and musician. I reside in the hills of South Wales with my 13 year old son (Thomas), my husband (Marc), our cats (Rascal, Tiger, Tatty and Bloo) and our bird (Charlie).’

‘I write my songs from my heart and soul - it's like my musical journal is on public display. To get to know the real Mel, all you have to do is listen to one of my songs. By listening to my music, my words, my voice, that's the best biography you'll get about me.’

========================================

A few words from other musicians -

========================================

Mel Cheeky came into Second Life in January 2006 as one of the first musicians to play on the grid. She was the first Welsh artist to perform in Second Life, and also the first to do a whole set in Welsh.

During this time, she has played hundreds, if not thousands of shows inworld. Loyal fans request her songs on a regular basis - also 'the Welsh song'. Mel Cheeky plays and sings originals songs, sometimes adding one or two covers for flavor.

The woman behind the avatar is a very talented lady indeed. Melanie Fudge (Mel Cheeky) has been playing guitar for seven years. During that time, the British wonder has written a mammoth of songs.

57 originals and over 100's of collaborations with numerous artists worldwide. She made the top 1500 songwriters at the Billboard awards in her first year of songwriting.

She has the most clear voice you'll ever hear, and THE most heartfelt songs. One thing's for certain, once you hear this lady, you'll never forget her.

Once dubbed the 'karaoke queen' on chat based programs such as Paltalk, Yahoo and Skype - this wasn't enough for Mel, she has then gone on to break down every musical barrier, and own each crown.

Karaoke queen, songwriting queen and musician queen to name but a few. Never have I heard anyone sing Acapella so perfectly, with perfect pitch to boot.

Thank you Mel. I really loved your performance, you have a truly angelic voice and a great talent, and it was a pleasure to meet you. Pandora.
