SL ARTS & LITERATURE: "OEDIPUS" Returns for Encore! Do Not Hesitate!

Avatar Repertory Theater presents an encore of their critically acclaimed production of Oedipus Rex by Sophocles for three performances:
  • Saturday January 22, 2PM PST/SLT (10PM GMT)
  • Sunday January 23, 2PM PST/SLT (10PM GMT)
  • Thursday January 27, Noon PST/SLT (8PM GMT)
Tickets are available at http://slurl.com/secondlife/Sagittata/131/96/39, for L$500 (about US $2.50).

If you did not get a chance to see this production in October you need to see it this weekend!  Economically adapted, beautifully designed, brilliantly staged, and effectively acted, Oedipus Rex is a production that is a must-see for all lovers of theatre on the grid.  Sources indicate that we might be treated an encore of last summer’s remarkable Alice In SLWonderland sometime later this year as a prelude to a new production based on Lewis Carroll’s 1871 continuation of the adventures of young Alice: Through the Looking Glass.  These are early reports that have not been officially announced.  While we know that things can change rapidly on the grid, here is hoping this is something that does not.  In the meantime, do not hesitate! Get your tickets for Oedipus Rex now!  If they haven’t sold out already, they are bound to be going fast.

The ticket vendors provide a packet of information, including the performance location and gifts from the designers of the show.  The tickets themselves are no-copy/yes-transfer, and scripted to allow access to the theater set only on the day and time listed on the ticket.

"Oedipus Rex" features Joff Fassnacht as King Oedipus and MadameThespian Underhill as Queen Jocasta.  Rounding out the cast of family, friends and enemies are Kayden Oconnell, Thundergas Menges, Rowan Shamroy, Em Jannings, Darius Dubreyere (cover), Elegia Underwood (cover).

Second Live Enquirer: "a very satisfying piece of theatre. The Avatar Repertory Theatre has once again challenged themselves to push the boundaries of Second Life to produce a transformative event" “...Fassnacht carrying the burden of Oedipus’ arc from top-of-the-world to bottom-of-the-heap with strength and pathos.” (Scroll down the SL ARTS & LITERATURE page to see my full review from October)

New World Notes: "trailer, which interestingly, is not entirely safe for work viewing. Because you know what they say about Oedipus: Like Shaft, he's a bad motherfu-- SHUT YO' MOUTH"
