Virtual World Culture:One Place Makes Different Dreams - sarahelisebeth Brenham Reporting…

Everything has a beginning, but no two journeys are the same. Here you will meet five  people who discovered different paths after finding Second Life©.

There are many different ideas on how the world was created. While it might be good for one of these theories to be proven as a fact, it’s one less thing for people to disagree on.  If we all agreed on and did everything the exact same way as everybody else, wouldn’t that get boring? While some experiences people have can cause them to get hurt, it’s the lessons that they learn from them and those can help not only themselves, but others as well. I would like to introduce you to five people who all came into Second Life in similar ways, but the paths that they walked once there are all different.

Polly Steerpike entered SL on November, 9th, 2010. She was introduced to Second Life by her friend Kayisha Resident. Ms. Resident and Ms. Steerpike first met on a website that had the game poker on it. During Ms. Steerpike’s time on SL, she has been a nurse, a waitress/restaurant manager, hostess and a photographer’s assistant.

Nicholas Eel came to Second Life on August 1st, 2007. He was informed about SL by a buddy that he often talked with on IRC. What is IRC? IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat. What this basically is, is a program to talk with people on a website in both in groups and one on one. In the six years that he has been on Second Life, Mr. Eel has been active in the Gorean community. What is Gor? Gor is a fictitious planet, where its main law is that men rule and women obey. This world and lifestyle was created for a science fiction novel series, written by Dr. John Lang Jr., pen name, John Norman.

Ebony Seorn joined Second Life on March 14th, 2010. Ms. Seorn was told about SL by one of her comrades. Since the first day that she stepped foot in Second Life, she has been making women look beautiful, with the clothes and accessories that she creates.

Killtrees Yue traveled to SL on December 21st, 2006. Like Mr. Eel, Mr. Yue is a member of the Gorean colony, and he too, found out about Second Life from someone they he chatted with on IRC.

EagleHeart1 Resident ventured into SL on December, 4th, 2011. Mr. Resident discovered Second Life through a TV show. In the months that Mr. Resident has been in SL, he has danced his way into the hearts of many, by performing in many different venues.

It is pretty clear that even if we all end up in the same place and take similar routes in getting there, we all go down a different road once we arrive at our destination.

Special Thanks to EagleHeart1 Resident, Killtrees Yue, Ebony Seorn, Nicholas Eel and Polly Steepike
