Top picks of the best RP Sims- Sarah Elisabeth Brenham reporting

Are you looking for a sim to role-play in, but don't know where to go? Then keep on reading to discover my top picks of the best RP sims that are currently on the grid!

 Svago
I had to begin our journey through Second Life with a Gorean sim, as this is the type of role-playing that I am the most familiar with. For those who don't know what Gor is, the planet and culture of Gor were conjured up by John Frederick Lange Jr aka John Norman. The premises for this world and its traditions are based, in my mind. off of Colonial America. What does that mean exactly? Well during the Colonial times in The U.S.A., gender roles were very defined, slavery was popular and modern conveniences didn't exist. The Gorean community in Second Life is one of the platform's longest-running colonies. With over 50 sims to choose from, where does one even start? Thank goodness that you have me to guide you! In my opinion, I believe that one should look for a place that has stood the test of time. While there are two Gorean sims that fit the bill, the one that I would like to present to you all today is geared towards role-playing, instead of lifestyle (yes some people do practice a form of this life offline.) So, what sim am I referring to? Why but Svago of course! Svago has been on the grid for over three years and although it is classified as a place that follows the Gor novels as closely as possible, it truly does welcome all Goreans.

 HIGHGARDEN
Calling all Game Of Throne fans! Do you miss the show dearly and hope it returns one day? While that may or may not happen, there is a place where you can create your own characters and storylines within this theme. This location is called HIGHGARDEN. So, if you loved the hit Medieval HBO drama, then I highly recommend that you check out this sim!

 Centauri Alpha Prime
Are you a Trekkie? Do you think that you would have been friends with someone like Spock? Then Centauri Alpha Prime might be right for you!

Tulagi Seaport & WWII Central [VICE]
Do you have a passion for WWII? Tulagi Seaport & WWII Central [VICE] is comprised of over forty sims and I believe has something for everyone who wishes to reenact one or more parts of this time in history.

Limo: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Tulagi/155/35/24

 Cedar Creek
I could not conclude a round-up of role-playing sims without including one for Family RP, as it's one of the most popular forms of role-play that people decide to do. Individuals choose to participate in Family RP for a variety of reasons. Regardless of why you are interested in Family role-play, I feel that there is one sim that you should check out if you wish to go down that path. That sim is Cedar Creek. This location has everything that you can think of when it comes to a typical American small town and so much more.

So, there you have it, my recommendations of the hottest RP sims on the grid right now. All you need to do is just to bring your creativity and of course, have fun!

Most Memorable Moments in Second Life- sarahelisebeth Brenham Reporting…

Would you move to a new country for someone you have only known online? Is this idea dangerous? Could love like this last? Let's discuss this important topic.

Every good and bad thing that happens in our life shapes us to be the people that we are today and will become. While I am referring to Real Life in this statement, I believe this also applies to Second Life. Although SL is an online program, people do interact with each-other on it and therefore both of the positive and negative experiences that come from it, can Impact a person’s life in some fashion. I asked a group of five people on what their most memorable moment has been in Second Life thus far. Their answers range from loss to joy, but they all have one thing in common: Their experiences have affected the lives they lead outside of SL.

In the name of Love - Sarahelisebeth Brenham

Would you move to a new country for someone you have only known online? Is this idea dangerous? Could love like this last? Let's discuss this important topic.

Many of us want to find our prince or princess charming. Throughout the years, different ways and methods for finding your soul mate have been introduced. In the twenty-first century, the most popular way to find your forever love is on the internet. There are many ways to meet someone on the web. One such way is through a program called Second Life. SL is a platform that allows people to live out dreams that they thought could never come true. Being that Second Life has over a million members, it’s no shock that people can and have met the love of their SL and RL. But relationships that start online do come with special circumstances. Let’s explore what you challenges you might face and how to deal with them, if you just happen to meet your soul mate on the internet.

Capturing the essence of Ron Sin

By Sarah Elizabeth Brenham and Lacy Muircastle ....

There are some extraordinary avatar’s that inhabit Second Life and just one such avatar is that of Ron Sin.

Ron’s persona is cheeky, fun and quirky (with a wicked sense of humour), but he is also incredibly loyal to his friends. He has a passion for making a difference in the lives of those he interacts with.

Ron’s human self, hails from New York. He migrated over from ActiveWorlds, an older MMO which came into existence in about 1995.  He says he was looking for a more sophisticated game with better graphics, so he rezzed  into Second Life in 2006, and has been here ever since.

Ron’s RL background is in photography and in 2008 he translated that into SL photography too. Photography means to him, limitless creativity and new perspectives.  He comments “There are angles and perspectives that a photographer can attain in a digital world, that are virtually impossible in real life.  In SL, prop investment is minimal because you can literally build whatever you imagine, in order to make the shot.”  Although he doesn't specialize in one area of photography in SL, he does lean towards landscapes and head shots and he is often called on by designers for his talent in green screen.  Green screen is the process whereby a person or object is placed in front of a screen that is green and then the photographs are taken. After the photograph has been taken, the background is edited to the client’s requirements. This is a versatile technique which allows for flexibility and creativity.

Virtual World Culture:One Place Makes Different Dreams - sarahelisebeth Brenham Reporting…

Everything has a beginning, but no two journeys are the same. Here you will meet five  people who discovered different paths after finding Second Life©.

There are many different ideas on how the world was created. While it might be good for one of these theories to be proven as a fact, it’s one less thing for people to disagree on.  If we all agreed on and did everything the exact same way as everybody else, wouldn’t that get boring? While some experiences people have can cause them to get hurt, it’s the lessons that they learn from them and those can help not only themselves, but others as well. I would like to introduce you to five people who all came into Second Life in similar ways, but the paths that they walked once there are all different.

Art is Love: Spotlight on MumuHime Resident - sarahelisebeth Brenham Reporting…

Think your schedule is busy? Here's a story about a woman that does pretty much everything in SL, but still finds the time to help those around her.

MumuHime Resident joined Second Life in 2011. A friend of Ms. Resident suggested that she should try SL, as she felt that Ms. Resident would enjoy it, due to her love of games. When MumuHime first entered Second Life, she wasn’t sure if she would remain. But once she found out about all the things that she can do in Second Life, she decided to stay. With SL’s wide array of opportunities to get involved in, Ms. Resident made the decision to partake in the following, based upon a hobby she he has in the offline realm.

Strutting Down the Catwalk in Second Life- Sarahelisebeth Brenham Reporting…

Tiviyah Resident/ picture taken by Fuzz Lennie

Many dream about becoming a model. But do people really know what this industry is all about. Come with me as we explore this profession.

Everybody wants a job that is financially and emotionally fulfilling; whether it be in Second Life or Real Life. Some professions require more of one’s mental resources, in exchange for a bigger paycheck. One vocation that while emotionally rewarding can also be mentally and financially draining. The career that I’m referring to is modeling.

Lights! Camera! Action!; Machinima in Second Life –Sarahelisabeth Brenham Reporting…

Have a burning passion to make movies? Here is your VIP pass to go behind the scenes with one of SL's famous videographer's and learn about this growing field.

We all have a voice. Each individual decides for him or herself on the best way to express their opinion. For those who love filmed productions, but prefer to be behind the lens, instead of in front of it, you may find that being a videographer is the best way for you to tell the world all of your thoughts.
In Second Life, one can share their views on everything in mediums that aren’t available in Real Life and vice versa. The processes in filming something in RL and in SL are quite different from each-other. Until today, I didn’t know how to tape anything in either realm, but I had the good fortune in meeting and talking with Rysan Fall; a popular machinist in Second Life.

The Apple of my Eye: New York City SL- sarahelisebeth Brenham Reporting...

The  world is known for its diverse cultures and magnificent cities. Some people might not get the opportunity to travel and this is where virtual programs become useful.
Second Life allows users to create and explore replicas of locations found on Earth. While SL has thousands of sims to highlight, there is one that is a staple of Second Life.

New York City SL owned by Joi Price, on November 1th, 2011. After the sim had been debuted to hundreds over the course of the day, Ms. Price decided to develop the sim further “We created a community where living, working and playing effortlessly merge together.” New York City SL is divided into several “districts” or sections, just like the island of Manhattan in the state of NY, U.S.A. is in the offline realm.

Spotlight on Angeldust: A Rare Gem -sarahelisebeth Brenham Reporting...

There are many stores in Second Life, but how often do you find one that sells everything a woman needs to look her best? Let me introduce you to Angeldust.

Angeldust is owned by Amoche Noel and started its humble beginnings in 2011. The idea for the store was birthed from Ms. Noel’s passion for beauty and fashion with products to make our avatars look gorgeous, without burning a hole in your wallet. Wanting a way for women to be able to purchase things that will make them feel beautiful and not have to take out a second mortgage on their home in doing so, Ms. Noel decided to dedicate herself in learning how to design footwear, accessories, clothes and skins. The journey in creating things for female characters was not easy for Ms. Noel, but like most things in life, practice is all that is needed to achieve your goals. Knowing this, Ms. Noel did not give up on her dream and made enough merchandise to open her long awaited shop.
