Relay for Life Kicks Off March 8th and 9th 2014

Come on down! Relay For Life of Second Life Kick-off Celebration, March 8th-9th
You are invited to the two-day Relay For Life of Second Life Kick-off Celebration on March 8-9 that kicks off the 10th year of raising funds for cancer research in Second Life.
This year’s theme is “A Journey of Promise” and represents the path Relayers take as they push to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.
Nikki Mathieson, this year’s Event Chair said, “A favorite time of year, for many Second Life residents, is about to begin.  The experience of working together for a cause that touches each of us so deeply is like no other experience, online or off.  The support and camaraderie, the depth of passion to do more, reach further and spread awareness, while fundraising make this yearly campaign so special and amazing.  We strike REAL blows to cancer.  Relay For Life of Second Life is an incredible group of people who work hard KNOWING that they are saving REAL lives against an all-too-REAL disease.  We need more volunteers to come join us and spread the word.. COME RELAY WITH US.”

In celebration of the start of Relay season in Second Life, there’s a two-day extravaganza of fun-filled events including live music and DJs; and grab a team and try your skill at Family Feud!
The Kick-off Celebration starts at 5 p.m. Friday, March 7 with team set up and pep rally. Saturday’s celebration starts at 10 a.m. SLT with T1 Radio broadcasting from the celebration sims. The opening ceremony starts at noon SLT, during which Nickib27, a cancer survivor,  will share her experiences and the role the American Cancer Society played in her fight.
The celebration will continue late into Saturday night and pick up again Sunday with fun, games, music and more! The weekend will wrap up Sunday night.
“I’m really excited about this year’s Kick-off because it’s the biggest Kick-off event that we’ve ever planned. The ceremony will be fantastic, but I’m really excited to see what our teams are selling in their Relay vendors!” said Stingray Raymaker, American Cancer Society staff partner.
If you cannot attend in person, the Kick-off Ceremony will be streamed on T1 Radio (t1radio.com) at 12:00 pm SLT. The Kick-off is the start to the Relay For Life fundraising season.  If you’re interested in learning more about becoming involved with the Relay For Life of Second Life, join us anytime during the weekend.
