Spotlight on "Spring Delights" Coming to Kachina Theater April 7th

One of the most unique entertainment venues in Second Life is the newly opened Kachina Theater,  home of Spirits In Motion, a dance troupe dedicated to various forms of performance art---ballet, jazz, hip-hop, Latin style dance, modern expression, sensual and even a dash of burlesque.  The 12 person group held their debut performance on February 17th, and is looking forward to presenting a Dancer's Choice performance on April 7th.
SLE: Dance troupes in SL have to coordinate music with various movements and scenes. It take a crew of 12 to make it all happen!  Can you tell us more about the team behind Kachina Theater and Spirits of Motion?

The troupe is the brainchild of Co-Founders Starlena Hansen and LeAnnBurt Resident, AKA Star and Jilly Lonewolf, two close-as-sisters friends with previous dance experience who desired to offer the residents of SL a different entertainment option. BenjaminABaker makes up the third owner and a talented performer as well. Spirit in Motion's performances are designed to entertain while at the same time drawing out the watchers emotions. Kachina Theater brings viewers acts that appeal to the senses while being suitable for audiences of all ages. The rest of the troupe includes D'Artagnan, Gracie. Kash, Molly, CrazieWolf, Willo, and Ally, who perform in both group numbers and solo performances.
SLE: Creating the sets are a big part of the overall performance.  Can you give our readers an examples of the sets you they may see on April 7th ?
The fantastic sets are thought up by both the dancers and by lead designer Starlena,  who along with Jilly also designs the group act  choreography. Hours of preparation go into each performance,  searching for the right music, dances and costuming to make each act a delight to watch. Our sets vary from the very simple to very elaborate and detailed, depending on the theme...for example, in Spring Delights we have one act that has just moving glyphs, while another employs multiple scenes using faders.

SLE: As previously mentioned, ballet, jazz and hip hop are some of the genres performed. It sounds like there is something for everyone and is a very important component in the performances. Who is responsible for the smooth transitions from song to song at Kachina Theater and introducing the acts?
Music is a very important part of any theater,  and Kachina Theater is blessed to have that talent of DJ Muse Wolf who keeps things moving smoothly. Also keeping things running on an even keel is Kachina's MC/Hostess Ciarra,  who entertains the audience as well as introducing each act and providing valuable information to viewers. Spring Delights is basically a Dancer's Choice show, with our artists performing routines to their favorite songs. We have a little of everything, from 60's soul to techno, country, current hits and even a Celtic tune or two.

SLE: On April 7th at when “Spring Delight” opens to the SL public, I’m sure it will leave audiences coming back for more with your music choices and sets. How long will Spring Delights be performed?
Spring Delights is scheduled for one performance only...Sunday, April 7th at 2 pm SL---However, we are looking into possibly adding an additional date, depending on our dancer's RL schedules and availability.

Can you give our readers a little teaser about what’s to come after Spring Delight?
Kachina Theater also has plans for other types of performances in the future,  including an adaptation of Gaston Leroux's Phantom of the Opera in the late summer/early fall.  Live musical performances are also planned periodically, making this venue a well rounded entertainment center for performing arts.

SLE: Is there anything else you would like to share?
Spirits in Motion performs for the love of dance and hopes that your readers will find the time to come and experience a truly memorable show. We also are interested in speaking with creative people who are willing to work hard and who would like to join our troupe, to make a great group even better!

What a great way to welcome Spring to Second Life! Be sure to mark your calendars for April 7th at 2 pm SL
