All That Jazz - Camury Reporting...

Jazz, what does that word evoke in your mind?  Nothing.  It evokes something in your soul.  It’s wild, jubilant music.  It made people feel free when it emerged  from the barrooms of New Orleans.  It made people feel alive and it got people up and dancing.  And nobody played it like they played it in New Orleans, a city already used to feeling jubilant, and expressing its jubilation. A city where you could dance down the middle of the street, in the middle of the daytime, in the middle of the week, and instead of people wondering why you weren't at work, they'd be wondering how they could join you. The glory of New Orleans is that it's still that way today. Everyone loves a parade. Everything is touched by the joyous anarchy called New Orleans Jazz.

Jazzis a music genre that originated amongst African Americans in New OrleansUnited States  in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and developed from roots in Blues and Ragtime.  Since the 1920s jazz age, jazz has become recognized as a major form of musical expression. It then emerged in the form of independent traditional and popular musical styles, all linked by the common bonds of African American and European American musical parentage with a performance orientation. Jazz is characterized by swing and blue notes, call and response vocals, polyruthms and most of all improvisation. Jazz has roots in West African cultural amd musical expression, and in African American music traditions including blues and ragtime, as well as European military band music.  Although the foundation of jazz is deeply rooted within the Black experience of the United States, different cultures have contributed their own experience and styles to the art form as well. Intellectuals around the world have hailed jazz as "one of America's original art forms".

Jazz has undergone a multitude of transformations throughout the 20th century. There is currently room for several Jazz genres. These aspects range from Dixieland to the experimentalism of Freejazz, through standards and more ambitious compositions.

The Music of Rebellion– Camury Reporting…

Innovative and unlike anything else that had ever happened before in music, Rock emerged in the early 1950s as a music that for the first time catered almost exclusively to the youth of the day. It helped erase the racial divide between black and white America, and also caught on rapidly in Britain, and other parts of Europe, notably Germany. British rock groups became a major influence on rock music in the U.S. The major raw creative force of rock music began to wane in the 1970s, so that mainstream rock had lost its creative drive by 1990. It gave way, however, to even rawer versions of the genre with various forms of heavy metal, and along with it punk rock, and grunge (alternative) rock.

Rock music has always been rebellious in spirit.  As for 1960s counterculture and folk rockers such as Bob Dylan, rebellion was an integral part of their acoustic and electric music. Social causes were dominant in rock music through the 1960s and into the 1970s, with famous rockers becoming cultural statesmen.

Rock has its roots in 1940s and 1950s and was heavily influenced by bluesrhythm and blues and country music. Rock music also drew strongly on a number of other genres such as electric blues and folk, and incorporated influences from jazzclassical and other musical sources.

Musically, rock has centered on the electric guitar, usually as part of a rock group with electric bass guitar and drums. Typically, rock is song-based music usually with a 4/4 time signature using a verse-chorus form, but the genre has become extremely diverse. Like pop music, lyrics often stress romantic love but also address a wide variety of other themes that are frequently social or political in emphasis.
Most rock bands include a vocalist, a guitarist, a bassist and a drummer, forming a quartet. Some groups omit one or more of these functions and use a vocalist who plays an instrument while singing, sometimes forming a trio or duo. Others still add extra musicians, such as one or two guitarists and keyboardist. More rarely groups also use saxophonists or trumpeters and even instruments such as violins or cellos.

Much more than a musical genre, Rock music created a way of life. It set the benchmark of behavior for thousands of people, and it influenced their style of dressing, acting and speaking.

The Top 10 Trends from Second Life Fashion Spring 2017 – Camury Reporting

Spring is almost here and our hearts are warmed by the revival of the terrestrial flora. It's time to put away your heavy jackets, and wear lighter and more colorful pieces.
Spring brings back some of the pieces that were stored in our inventory and this is very good thing, because that allows us to save some lindens by re using some forgotten pieces that will inspire your Spring wardrobe.

Metallic
Metallics were already here this winter and is also hot for spring. If in the past, the metallic of the time was silver, now it is colorful! Let the rainbow of color transform tones and shine this spring. That shine will also appear in the makeup, especially in lipstick shades.

Slip Dress
Another piece that is trending this spring that you will see in many stores in SL is the so-called slip dress. It is nothing more than a dress with a shape inspired by sweaters, it is tight and descends snug to the body.

Orange Is The Warmest Color for the season
Orange, coral, terracotta ... the diverse shades of this color will warm up spring in Second Life. Hot and full of life, the orange tone will dominate different styles, from Boho Chic to Retro. Nice!

Navy
"Navy"  has never gone out of style and every season the stripes come back with new proposals.  Look for that forgotten T-shirt in inventory and mix it with jeans, or black leggings, leather jacket and slippers.

Accessories
The big accessories are still in high demand and are some fun items that make for a more stylish look. To incorporate this trend, women can bet on maxi earrings, mirrored sunglasses, tote bags, and sandals with colored straps.

Chokers
Chokers are very sexy necklaces very short and close to the neck, much appreciated in  Second Life to hide the line off toned neckline that some avie find difficult to mask. Chokers have been around for some time now and are still very popular for spring 2017 . Although the most used choker model is black, you can find them in a vriety of fabrics, chains and even super delicates.
For men:

Sockless
The "no sock" style, with visiable ankles is in with cropped Pants or Joggers. Complete your look with a white Adidas Stan Smith low-rise sneaker.

Printed Short Sleeve Shirt
You will notice Floral, Tropical, Minimalist, Striped, Chess Prints on Short Sleeve Shirts this spring. You can complete your look with light jeans or shorts.

Monochrome Styles
The visual valuing a color tone only gains strength in spring! If you like to wear solids like  all white, all black, all blue, etc, you can mix it up by playing with shades. Combining very similar colors or accessories in another color, gives you variety without getting too far from the monochrome!

Second Life is filled with amazing and extraordinary places, and many of them become favorites for those who enjoy exploring. Some of these wonderful places represent perfect virtual replicas of their real life counterparts and certainly deserve a visit.

These are my picks of five fabulous places for you to visit in Second Life.

Machu Picchu

The mysterious city of Machu Picchu is one of the biggest attractions in all of South America. The ruins rise above the clouds at 7,979 feet above sea level. Built around the middle of the 15th century, it is the main conquest of the Inca Empire.

In Second Life you can visit and see the virtual replica of Machu Picchu and explore the stairways, temples, aqueducts and observation points scattered over a mountainous landscape resembling a maze. Machu Picchu is suitable for adventurers or those who enjoy culture and history.

Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon is a steep gorge carved by the Colorado River in the state of Arizona in the United States. This formation is part of the Grand Canyon National Park and you can experience the graphic replica of this wonderful work of nature in Second Life. Many visitors, however, do not know everything the place can offer them, such as the distinct and inspiring landscapes and the many outdoor adventures for those who love an adrenaline rush. Take a balloon at the entrance of the park and explore the cliffs of this awe inspiring tourist spot.

The Grand Canyon is a place of grandiose beauty that is and inspiration to its visitors. It is one of the seven natural wonders of the world.

Great Wall of China

The Great Wall of China is one of the greatest sights in the world — the longest wall in the world, an awe-inspiring feat of ancient defensive architecture. Its winding path over rugged country and steep mountains takes in some great scenery.
It's often said that the First Emperor of Qin built the Great Wall. Actually he was not the first to build it. See below:
Dynasty
Great Wall History — Key Events
Zhou Dynasty: The (Pre-) Warring States Period (770–221 BC)
State overlords built state border walls.
The Qin Dynasty (221–207 BC)
The First Emperor of Qin linked the Great Wall sections on China's northern border.
The Han Dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD)
Han Wudi extended the Great Wall west to Yumen Pass and beyond.
The Ming Dynasty (1368–1644)
Hero General Qi Jiguang rebuilt the Great Wall around Beijing.

The majestic Great Wall was built with wisdom, dedication, blood, sweat, and tears. Families were separated, and many workers died and were interred as part of the Great Wall itself.

The Great Wall of China is also considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The Great Wall consists of several walls, built during several dynasties over approximately two millennia. If, in the past, its function was essentially defensive, at the present it is a symbol of China and a sought after tourist attraction.

The virtual representation is worth a visit.  Have fun and explore this great work in Second Life. Don’t forget to visit the Panda Bears.

Venice

Venice, the capital of northern Italy’s Veneto region, is built on more than 100 small islands in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. It has no roads, just canals – including the Grand Canal thoroughfare – lined with Renaissance and Gothic palaces. The central square, Piazza San Marco, contains St. Mark’s Basilica, which is tiled with Byzantine mosaics, and the Campanile bell tower offering views of the city’s red roofs.  Venice is famous for the beauty of its architecture and works of art.  A part of the city is considered a World Heritage site, along with the lagoon.

Take a gondola ride or stroll through the streets of the replica of this beautiful city in Second Life. Explore the canals, the magnificent squares and bridges and even stop for coffee or wine while enjoying the view of the lagoon.

Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower is a wrought iron lattice tower on the Champ de Mars in Paris, France. It is named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel, whose company designed and built the tower.  It is 324 meters high and was built in the 19th century. The Tower has become a world icon of France and one of the most recognized and visited structures in the world.

In Second Life you can explore the virtual replica of this magnificent structure and visit the square and surrounding buildings. If you’re looking for an infusion of adrenaline, you should climb up to the top of the tower and enjoy jumping of it with a parachute.

There’s nothing better than exploring and getting to know the beautiful landscapes and monuments that abound in Second Life.  For those who prefer beaches, waterfalls, snow, pyramids ...  there is something for all tastes and there arelways some interesting places to meet.  Go on an adventure in Second Life.

Talk about Pop music - Camury reporting...

Ever heard the song “Pop Muzik” by Robin Scott from way back in 1979?   You’re forgiven if you haven’t, it was a bit cheesy even back then.

Get up, get down

Radio, video, boogie with a suitcase
Your livin' in a disco, forget about the rat race
Let's do the milkshake, sellin' like a hotcake
Try some, buy some fee-fi-fo-fum

Talk about pop musik
Talk about pop musik

Get up, get down

That got me thinking about pop music and how it came to be a genre.  It originated in its modern form in the United States and United Kingdom during the mid 1950's. The terms "popular music" and "pop music" are often used interchangeably, although the former describes all music that is popular and includes many styles. "Pop" and "rock" were synonymous terms until the late 1960's, when they were increasingly used in opposition from each other.

Pop music is eclectic, and often borrows elements from other styles such as urban, dance, rock, Latin and country.

Characteristics of pop music include an aim of appealing to a general audience, rather than to a particular sub-culture or ideology, and an emphasis on craftsmanship rather than formal "artistic" qualities.  Music scholar Timothy Warner said it typically has an emphasis on recording, production, and technology, rather than live performance; a tendency to reflect existing trends rather
than progressive developments and aims to encourage dancing or uses dance-oriented rhythms.

Music and dancing are the back bone of Second Life’s social scene and there a many dance clubs in SL that welcome you with friendly staff and a great mix of music.  You can be sure that you will find a club that plays your kind of music.
