Pursue the Impossible - Lacy Muircastle reporting ....

Nothing is impossible you say.  Exactly and you have seven days left to prove it.

Do you have ambitions of creating the ultimate piece of machinima?  What are you waiting for?
Entries for The 6th UWA Grand Art Challenge & 8th UWA International Short Film Challenge (MachinimUWA VIII)  close at Midnight SLT, 31st October 2015.

The theme is "PURSUE IMPOSSIBLE." Artists & filmmakers can interpret the theme as they see fit. What is your impossible? What is the impossible goal you have conquered, or that you have seen your loved ones or your heroes conquer? What are the things you once thought were impossible, but now are able to overcome? How do virtual worlds help you to visualize, create, and push the boundaries of possibility? What are the things which seem impossible now, which you think you will attempt to hunt down? What are the impossibilities of the mind? of the heart? of the soul? Is it the pursuit of the impossible that takes precedence? Or defeating it? You the artist... You the machinimatographer...You decide.

For all the rules and requirements got to –

Winners will be announced in December 2015.

Digital Rabbit Hole-“Window On A Train” ~ Our Entry For The UWA Vl Machinima Challenge 2013 ~

We needed a train!
Not just any old train, but a 1970′s Diesel Train, detailed and very real looking inside and out. Nat and I scoured every train-store, Marketplace train offering in SL, and could not find what we wanted. One of the reasons I think our production took as long as it did (close to 5 months) was finding that illusive train. So being hopeful, even while we were being  disappointed, “I heard so and so made a train for so and so” and finding all leads running into dead ends, we decided to build a track and maybe..”The train would come.”

UWA NEWS: SL Presented to RCE Network, Facilitated Through the United Nations University

PRESS RELEASE: Friday September 23, 2011

On the 24th of September 2011, the story behind the development of the UWA presence in Second Life was told at the inaugural meeting of the Regional Centre of Expertise (RCE) Western Australia: 'Sense of Place' Network. RCEs across the world, facilitated through the United Nations University (UNU), make up the Global Learning Space for Sustainable Development and aspire to achieve the goals of the UN (DESD, 2005-2014), by translating its global objectives into the context of the local communities in which they operate.

The meeting took place in real life in the Senate Room of the University of Western Australia deep in the heart of UWA's iconic Winthrop Clock Tower. Chaired by UWA's Dean of Science, Winthrop Professor Tony O'Donnell, the steering group of 15 was introduced to second life, and invited to watch a meeting taking place in second life, as seen in the photo above.

MachinUWA III: Journeys

The 3rd UWA Machinima Challenge is rapidly drawing to a close, in fact the closing date 1st May 2011.

The University of Western Australia (UWA) themed their latest machinima challenge simply 'Journeys'. With an amazing prize pool of $L530,000 broken down as follows:

1st Prize $L100,000
2nd Prize $L70,000
3rd Prize $L50,000
+ L$310,000 in other prizes

Entrants were told that defining what a ‘journey’ was, was entirely up to them; A journey through Second Life; A journey of self discovery; A journey within; A journey from SL too RL, or vice-versa; A journey through space, through time, a journey of hope, a journey of despair; Their own journey or a journey by someone else seen through their eyes... or... through Second Life in 80 Days, whatever they could imagine.

Jayjay told me that they have had a fantastic response to their ‘Journeys’ challenge with entries being received from all around the world.

The talent of our fellow SL residents is astounding, take the link below to see for yourself.
