Take Your Date to the Movies! About Virtual Cinema- CeciliaRosalie Resident Reporting...

This article shouldn't start in any other way than with this question… What movies are playing?

In real life, going to the Cinema may be one of the most popular activities for couples on dates or just going out with a group of friends, but is there any place for it in our Virtual World?

I had never seen a Cinema in Second Life and I think only a few of my friends have heard of it, even though there are lots of movie theaters available. So, I went to check out some of them. Some gave out free snacks such as popcorn, burritos and soft drinks while others were small and minimal. It seems that most of the movies are in high definition and all you need to watch the movie is QuickTime. (It's a free program you can download) I recommend setting  your environment to midnight for best results.

 Sweet's Cinema
It is located in a very quite region. As you walk in, the theme is so realistic that  it feels just like real life.

It offers a range of films from old classics to the most recent. Here are some titles I recommend.

  • A Walk to Remember (2002): Romantic Drama
  • The Dark Knight Rises (2012): Superhero Film
  • Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012): Action Fantasy Horror film
  • Sweet November (2001): Romantic Drama
  • Just Go with It (2011): Comedy
  • Secret Window (2004): Psychological Thriller
  • Brave (2012): Computer-Animated Adventure Fantasy

Second Cinema. All I can say is that the first thought that came to mind as I entered was "Wow this place is enormous!" They have huge screens and is an impressive place if you want to enjoy movie with others. A new movie is available every week.

Currently, there are 4 movies to choose from

  • Pitch Perfect (2011): musical comedy
  • The Amazing Spider-man (2012): superhero film
  • Grave Encounters (2011): supernatural horror film
  • Looper (2012): science fiction film

You can easily check what's on here: Movie Schedule

 Texas Theater.

They offer dozens of films for you to watch, like Harry Potter, The Lord of the rings, Titanic and more classics or 3D animated films for the little ones.

Don't forget to check the rentals section where you can by or rent your own movie for 395$ per week.

  • Top Gun
  •  Ghostbusters

I hope you enjoy a movie night and I wish you a lot of fun hanging out to the Cinema.
