TerryLynn Melody; A Sensational SL Singer- Tea Couturier Reporting…

When you have had a busy day and need to relax and listen to some live music, you don’t have to think twice when you see TerryLynn Melody's name pop up on the Live music section of the SL search.

TerryLynn Meolody to many of her fans is a talented performer that not only sings on stage but also connects with her fans. I was lucky enough to have a chat with Terrylynn and asked her a few questions over a cup of coffee.

Interview with TerryLynn

Tea:  Hi Terrylynn, how did you get started in the music industry in RL and SL?

TerryLynn: I've been a musician most of my life. I started singing as early as I could talk, and played my first instrument the flute at the age of 7. I didn't start writing my own songs and publicly pursuing performance opportunities aka an actual career in music until about 15 years ago. Until then music was simply a place of personal expression and healing for me.  I started realizing a few years ago that sharing that healing connected me to other people and the shared experience amplified my opportunities for personal growth.

Tea:  Just for our readers who are new to you, what kind of music do you sing?

Terrylynn: I am quite eclectic in my taste musically. Music and food to me are synonymous. :) One feeds the body, the other feeds the soul. I love to excite my palate with new sounds. So this to me is an exciting time in music. So many people mixing up various genres to make their own thing. I feel really free to not have to categorize myself and I try not to. i don't ever want to feel like i have to stay in box, in order to appeal to a "market" My CD that's coming out near the end of this year "Watch That Turn" crosses over quite a few genre's of music. I would say though there is a bit of everything, rock, pop, country, jazz, bluegrass, I'll admit I have a propensity for home cooking :) and for things fresh and organic, my southern roots I guess. So overall there is an underlying American roots sound throughout. Somehow that thread ties it all together. I guess I by default fall under the Americana category. It's still a new category in music, I think of it as a smorgasbord and amalgam of roots, folk, country, rock, blues, pop, r&b. I an just a songwriter. I use music as the soundtrack to tell stories, for me the music serves the story. And as far as kind of music, that's what matters to me most.

Tea. When you started performing in sl the very first time did you think it would lead to you have so many fans not only following you but joining your fan group?

TerryLynn: Well no, not exactly. I joined SL to play games. I had no idea there was music in there. i am deeply grateful for how I was embraced by music fans in SL. They have been a huge encouragement to me and have been the impetus to me completing this album. If it hadn't been for their support and encouragement, I might not have undertaken this. Completing a full production CD as an indie artist without a label behind you is a leap of faith and a LOT of work. i had no idea how much work. However, I have enjoyed every minute of it. It's been an incredibly fulfilling experience. I've grown a great deal. I look forward to having a life filled with music. For that i am deeply grateful
Tea:  Who would be your inspiration in the music industry in rl?

TerryLynn: I'm a big fan of songwriters who have managed to make a successful independent career for themselves, simply by writing great songs that connect to people. Dar Williams, David Wilcox are the first to come to mind. Both are hugely successful in my eyes. Great music, long productive careers, full time musicians, with bodies of work I respect deeply despite any mainstream commercial success, their careers continue to thrive.

Tea:  When you are not performing in sl or even in rl, what do you like to do?
TerryLynn: Photography is my new passion. I have always been one to look for the beauty in what i see around me. in the past i have always gone to poetry and music to express it. I'm enjoying the silence of pictures right now.

Tea: What else can we expect from you for the rest of 2013?

TerryLynn:  "Watch That Turn" it's coming really soon. We are in the final mixes now. I will start taking pre-orders via Kick starter later this year, in hopes of raising the $5000.00, to help cover the costs of professional mastering, printing and distribution. I am really proud of how these songs have grown over the past 2 years. I'm grateful having had the opportunity to grow through this experience and I look forward to the future!

Tea : Oh wow! Sounds not only exciting but fun also Thank you TerryLynn

TerryLynn: Thanks so much for taking an interest. MUCH LOVE and MORE MUSIC!!!! :D
