Interview with Maximillion Kleene

Shaneos Howlett: Hello Maximillion... Can you begin by mentioning where are you from,  and how did you discover Second Life as a performance platform? Also, what made you interested in second life?

Maximillion Kleene: I live in Canada and I'm 40. One day I saw a Rolling Stone article about SL in the August 2006 issue, so I wanted to check it out.

Shaneos Howlett:  I take it you must have a lot of music you are interested in – can you list which groups interest you the most or who are your favorite musicians? / Groups?

Maximillion Kleene: My favourite artists these days is Jason Mraz and some of my
favourite groups are AC/DC, The Eagles, Barenaked Ladies, Pearl Jam, and CCR

Shaneos Howlett: Those are some great musicians.  I also listen to them. So, have you released any CD’s or MP3’s? Have you released any music CD's or MP3's

Maximillion Kleene: No... not yet.

Shaneos Howlett: There is plenty of time to release some audio tracks in the future. In relation to audio tracks, do you have any orginal music tracks of your own?

Maximillion Kleene: I have one original called Never Despair, as a live performance

Shaneos Howlett: That sounds like an interesting track name. Do you like any particular music that may help you create your songs? What type of music do you listen to?

Maximillion Kleene: I like all the live music

Shaneos Howlett:.Do you attend any SL / RL live performances ?

Maximillion Kleene: I have been to some SL Jams in RL, just recently in Dallas

Shaneos Howlett: I guess you have met a lot of talented people within the live performance scene. You seem like a giving, authentically nice person. What do you attribute that to?

Maximillion Kleene: I'll attribute it to the way my parents raised me

Shaneos Howlett:  That's a great answer.  When and why did you start playing?

Maximillion Kleene: When I was 12 was when I first picked up the guitar.

Shaneos Howlett: It's great that you started playing at a young age.  What other instruments do you play ?

Maximillion Kleene: Besides guitar, I play piano, and the drums

Shaneos Howlett: Being multi skilled in a variety of instruments is surely a talent. What was the first tune(s) you learned?

Maximillion Kleene: The Beatles Hey Jude

Shaneos Howlett: That's going back a fair way.  You must have had a musical family that influenced you?

Maximillion Kleene: Yes, they sing

Shaneos Howlett: That's nice – a close family that sings together. For our readers that may be just starting out in the music scene here in Second Life, what advice would you give them?

Maximillion Kleene: Sing for some friends at first ,do a shot of your favourite drink and have fun :)

Shaneos Howlett: Do you get nervous before a performance or a competition?

Maximillion Kleene: Sometimes, but not much these days

Shaneos Howlett: I guess with nerves comes experience?... How often and for how long do you practice?

Maximillion Kleene: Depends on what i'm working on... some songs are easy to learn fast, some songs take a few nights of practice

Shaneos Howlett: So if you are going to a heavy metal concert you may practice an awesome guitar rift or similar ? :)  but What do you practice - exercises, new tunes, hard tunes, etc.?

Maximillion Kleene: I use the guitar exercises I learned from those first few guitar lessons

Shaneos Howlett: I know it takes a lot of time to become a master of your field, How do you balance your music with other obligations ?

Maximillion Kleene: It is not hard, I have free time, and I like to fill it with music

Shaneos Howlett: With experience, genres go hand in hand. Can you tell our readers what style or range of music can you play ?

Maximillion Kleene: Pop rock and alternative classic folk...

---
Shaneos Howlett:  Before I end this interview, I think our readers would like to know how you handle tripping on stage – or at least How do you handle mistakes during a performance?

Maximillion Kleene: I laugh off mistakes.

Shaneos Howlett: Thank you for your time Maximillion Kleene, I for one will be looking forward to your next live performance.
