GALLERY EXHIBIT OPENING FOR TRAVEL & ADVENTURE PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST, FEATURING WOLFIE STARFIRE

 

Travel & Adventure recently held a photography contest in which we asked photographers to think about what the words "travel and adventure" mean to them personally and to submit photographs taken on the SL grid that express that idea.  The result is a collection of amazing photographs that are about to go on exhibit in a gallery at the Center for the Arts.  If you love photography or art, you will enjoy seeing this wonderful collection of interesting photographs.  See how different individuals interpreted and brought the words "travel and adventure" to life through the magic of SL photography.  The photos will be competing for thousands of L$ in prizes, including a L$ 5,000 first prize.  You will have the opportunity to share your opinion and vote for your favorite!

The exhibit will open to the public on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. SLT.  The opening festivities will begin with DJ Delo Ocean spinning some tunes as attendees peruse the photographs displayed in the gallery.  Originating from the West Coast, DJ Delo's passion for music is evident in every set she delivers.  With a voice silkier than the famed American radio host, Delilah, Delo brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to her musical choices.  Delo will be playing your requests and favorite songs as you explore the captivating exhibits.

Then at 6:00 p.m. SLT, the event will be presided over by none other than Wolfie Starfire, perhaps the most acclaimed live singer in Second Life.  This award winning songstress will charm the hearts of all with her sweet and unique nightingale vocals cultivated over many years of performance experience. Wolfie is considered to be a "must hear performer!" You, too, will understand why Wolfie continues to be a favorite among so many live music aficionados in SL.

SPOTLIGHT FEATURE - All Out Music - Mack Abbot Reporting

Clubs are ten a penny in SL, so when a special one comes along, it's nice to find out a bit more about it.  I spoke to Evan-Leigh Angelis, GM of All Out Music, to find out a bit more about the club and its offerings.

Mack:  So you recently rebranded from All Out 80's to All Out Music, what was the logic behind that?

Evan:   We rebranded to All Out Music towards the end of October. The aim was to bring a wider variety of entertainment to our guests. Phil Setner (Club Owner) sings live at the club regularly and he felt that limiting himself to 80's only could become repetitive over time..he doesn't sing absolutely every 80's tune as you can imagine! This contributed to the decision.

Mack:  So what genres of music do you have in the club?

Evan-Leigh:   Genres played at All Out Music are as follows: Pop, Rock, R&B, Blues, Country, Electronic, EDM, Dance, Trance, Indie, K-Pop. We remain open to other genres that fit our clean, radio friendly, and crowd-pleasing criteria.   We focus on radio friendly music spanning every decade from the 1950s right up to today’s Top 40 charts.

Mack:  So basically stuff you can play to Grandma?

Evan-Leigh:  Yeah

Mack:  As a PG Club, do you have an open door policy?

Evan-Leigh: We welcome EVERYONE to enjoy the club, Kids, LGBTQIA+ Community, New Players, Furries, Dinkies, etc. We are a Family Friendly PG Club on a moderate sim.  We also have events that re open to anyone.

Mack:  Do you find that being PG works in a club situation?

Evan-Leigh:   Whilst we're not unique in being a PG venue, it would seem many aren't comfortable with having child avi's and dinkies in a club setting. This is something Phil & Alessia, the club owners wanted to address as they felt there was a gap in family friendly venues where they could safely take their own family.

Mack:  And is the family friendly element the unique selling point of the club?

Evan-Leigh:  We don't insist on human or adults in the club as long as people are covered and behave themselves.  The dinkies and children we get are very well behaved.  They're there to have fun like everyone else.  We want the club to be a place where people feel comfortable and have fun. A place where they can enjoy music and friendly, inoffensive chat (actual chat, NOT just spammed gestures) We want to be “kid friendly” while still being able to entertain adults. Vulgarity just isn’t something that belongs in the environment.

Mack:  What else does the sim have to offer?

Evan-Leigh:  We have stores, as well as Mushroom Mania and Candy Mania for those that like to earn lindens.  We do decorate for holidays so we're in a winter theme at the moment, with an ice rink for people who want to ice skate.  We will be moving our sets outside in the next week, through December.

Mack:  And what are your opening hours?

Evan-Leigh:  Wednesday to Sunday 12-6pm with a wide range of djs and music to enjoy.  Also look out in our group for details of live singers that perform at the club.  Also we have themed sets every now and then so theres always something happening.

Mack:  Well it's been a pleasure to talk to you and I wish you continued success in the club and all its ventures.

Devon Reggiane: World Class Performer in BOTH Worlds – Josh (Thomas1 Bellic) Reporting.

 One of the perks of being a reporter for the SL Enquirer is that I get to hear some phenomenal musicians at the monthly SL Enquirer Singer Songwriter Open Mic competition.  Some of the grid’s top performers have graced our musical stage since this contest started, and this month was no exception.   Whether you are a budding Pavarotti, or you can’t carry a tune in a bucket, you are gonna love and be inspired by this month’s winner, Devon Reggiane.  Immediately after his win, I managed to pry Devon away from his adoring fans just long enough to arrange for this interview.  Let’s take a look at what this Musical prodigy had to say to our readers.

Josh (Thomas1 Bellic) (JB):     So Devon, congratulations on your win.  It was well deserved.   Thanks for agreeing to chat with me.  To begin with, how long have you been performing your music, and what sorts of venues?

Devon Reggiane (DR):     Hi, Josh. Thanks so much for having me. I am pretty much the "new guy" on the SL singing scene, because although I've been singing live in RL for decades, I've only been singing in Second Life for around 10 months.  I am very happy to sing anywhere where there's a crowd, as it's the singing I love and not the L$, so I appear at a wide variety of venues and events in Second Life. I genuinely love singing, and when the audience has a great time, it makes it all worth it.

JB:     Who were your music idols, and those who most influenced your musical style?

DR:     My favorite band has been Led Zeppelin since I was a teen, but my main singing influences are Paul Rodgers, Freddie Mercury, and Lowell George. Whilst Freddie Mercury has been incredibly inspiring, Paul Rodgers and Lowell George have been direct influences with their vocal-gymnastics/riffs and bluesy/soulful singing style which they so flawlessly integrated into their sound.

 JB:     What was the inspiration for the song you sang at the contest, and why did you choose that particular song?

DR:     I was asked to sing two songs, so I thought it best if I sang something soft and something a little more upbeat in an attempt to showcase my versatility, so I went with Eric Clapton's, "Tears in Heaven" and Train's, "Drops of Jupiter". It wasn't until after my performance that I realized that both songs were written for the loss of a loved one. Most of us have experienced the loss of a loved one and the bereavement that goes with it, including myself, so I can only wonder if I subconsciously chose those songs with purpose.

JB:     How would you describe the brand that you now represent? To really stand out in the SL Music scene, you have to have something special about your performances. How do you define your music style? 

DR:     At my shows, I pretty much present my RL self; playful and friendly, but I am confident my love of music is always evident.  I start my shows with 5 songs back-to-back and then for the rest of the show, it's batches of 2-3 songs back-to-back, so I keep the dead air and talking to a minimum and the result is that I provide 53-55 minutes of music in a 1-hour set. My goal at each and every show is to provide a variety of quality music and to have a few laughs along the way.

JB:     What are your landmark performances?  Best Memories performing both in RL and in SL?

DR:     I was fortunate to have been asked to perform twice at SL22B this year which was a real honor as a new and not very well-established singer in SL, and I was well received by the large audiences that had never heard of me, which was a real pleasure that I am very grateful for. I have also performed at several RFL events which are always well attended. In RL, I have toured USA and Europe multiple times with various acts and artists. I have been blessed in the sense that I have also been able to perform live with some of my musical heroes to massive audiences, which, of course, is a dream come true to any musician. 

JB:     How did you take the news when they first announced your name as the winner?

DR:     I always love hearing live singers in SL, no matter what their style or ability, and the same can be said of this contest, as there were some incredibly skilled singers taking part. One of the singers that took part is a very well-established SL singer with a massive group of followers, and I really didn't think I had a chance. I was incredibly flattered and a little shocked when I learned that I'd won it, as I'd had no expectation of winning. Again, there was some fantastic talent on display that earned a new fan in me.

JB:     What does it take to be a successful musician these days?

DR:     As it's always been, achieving success in the music industry requires a genuine talent (you can't fake it!) hard work, persistence, and fairly thick skin to handle rejection, as no matter how good you are, not every venue owner or record company will be moved by your talents. The music industry has changed so much in the past 25 years, but the constant is that if you want to be a successful live singer, you have to be out and about singing live, as it's not something you are likely to achieve online. There was a time when musicians could make a decent living from royalties and residuals, but nowadays it's all about touring and merchandise, so one would have to accept this going in.

JB:     You’ve been on the grid for over 17 years now. What advice could you give to someone who wants to be a songwriter?

DR:     Yes, I turned 18 in SL this month, and I have seen some intensive changes over the years, both in policy and technology.

To be a successful songwriter, first and foremost, is to know how to construct a song that is radio-friendly and a not too short or long catchy tune with a hook that people can tap their foot to and hum later. The advent of AI has produced an army of people with no musical talent whatsoever, that believe they are creating music... They aren't. The only way AI will make gains in the music industry, is if people don't reject it. My hope for the near and distant future is that people accept that real music is created from the hearts and souls of humans. 

JB:     Do you have any social media sites that folks can visit to see more of you and your work?

DR:     I am the creator behind the SL car company, CRMC. I also own a roadside café called, 'Cats, Books and Coffee' as well as a small Latin club on the water called, 'Hablando Dey Rey De Roma'. These places can be found in the picks of my profile.

There is so much live music occurring around the clock in Second Life, so you really have no excuse! Whatever your favorite genre is, there's someone out there on the grid singing it well and at pro-level. Sometimes you will attend a show and you'll discover that the act that precedes or follows the act you went to see, is something that hits you in the right place and you become an instant fan. A lot of people think we are simply karaoke singers, but standing and singing for an hour, whilst keeping the attention of a group of people that have a million other things they could be doing in SL, is really no different to performing on a stage in RL  to thousands of people. If you've never been to a live show in SL before, have a look in events as there are plenty.

TIME. WHAT DOES IT REALLY MEAN?- Lanai Jarrico

 

                                                       

                                                           

As a child, time has no real meaning. There are no deadlines or worries. You are supposed to be a kid. Explore and learn is what you are meant to do. As a teenager, time still has little value as days are spent without the boundaries of your immediate space and living for the moment without thinking of consequences. In early adulthood, you begin to realize that time has value and start thinking about your past experiences that have shaped you to this point. In your mid-20s, you think you may have life figured out, but you still have much to learn. 30’s you see yourself thinking about the future. Maybe by this time you are a parent, married… watching your parents get older and reminiscing about easier days when life didn’t have as much responsibility. 40’s you begin to look back at your youth and realize you’ve made choices that put you on a harsher path than if you had taken a different route. If by this age, you are content and happy, that is a good thing, but it doesn’t mean you have dodged curveballs that could throw your life into a spiral and leave you to rebuild, choose a different path, or remain stagnant and stuck in a life you really didn’t see yourself in.

Time. It is the only thing in this world you cannot get back, nor can you buy it back with any amount of money.  Foolish people seek the mythical fountain of youth by way of vanity, but forget that inside you are moving closer to death. That is the only certainty in life.  It may seem morbid or dark to spill the words on a page as time passes by, but it’s truth at it’s finest. We may want to wait for the right time for tough discussions, changes, doing better for ourselves, but it all comes right back to the same thing…. Time.

How much of it do we really have? Have we made peace with ourselves yet? Apologized to those we have wronged. Made amends with our past. Is are heart in the right place? Lots to consider as the clock continues the pass like sand slowly pouring in an hourglass.

Tick tock… tick tock… shall we watch and wait until the last grain of sand drops?

Now is the time to reassess our lives. Don't wait until the last minute to find that new job, set goals for yourself, or even open your heart and let love in once again.

We all carry our emotions differently, but we are all on the same path of the unknown. Let's not wait until it is too late to live. Find true love or just be happy deep within our souls.

That is the true meaning of life. Our journey is a test with no grade. Who is the judge of our greatest self?  Is it our religion? Lack of belief? The opinions of others or the silence of those who watch from a distance to see if we fail.  It’s funny how many are quick to judge, look down upon others, and pick and choose who to help.. Or even hurt.  

Each one of us has a story to tell that spans back to the beginning of time. Through our family histories, as far back as the stories have been passed down through generations. Do we really know the whole story or just the bits and pieces that favored the storyteller? We shall never know.

Tick tock… tick tock, the clock keeps ticking until it stops, and we return to the beginning, where it all began. Time.
