CHIPPER CARVER – SLE OPEN MIC WINNER FOR MAR 2026 – JOSH (THOMAS1 BELLIC), REPORTING

One of the many ways that SecondLife Enquirer contributes to the vibrant life on the Grid is to identify up-and-coming musicians through the monthly SL Enquirer Singer Songwriter Open Mic competitions. Up and coming, as well as established musicians across the grid compete for a L$5,000 prize, along with the promotional value of being featured in the SL Enquirer, with our QUARTER MILLION views each month!  This month’s winner, Chipper Carver, managed to impress our judges and walked away with the top prize.  I was able to catch up with Chipper, who is naturally shy by nature, and managed to get him to answer a few questions for our SLE Readers.

Josh (Thomas1 Bellic) (JB):     So tell us, Chipper… How long have you been performing your music, and in what types of venues?

Chipper Carver (CC):     I have played guitar and sung for many years, but the vast majority of that was just for myself and occasionally for family. I had a two-person garage band back in high school.  We had cheap equipment and a handful of Beatles tunes we tried.  Then I got on with living life and only picked up the guitar now and then.  Fifteen years ago, or so, I started playing a lot more, but still for my own enjoyment and sometimes with a group of friends in a circle.  Around five years ago, I started joining open mics here in Second Life and muscled my way through audience anxiety and lots of mistakes.  Eventually, I must have gotten a little better because venues started offering me gigs.  I have played gigs at various venues like The Merry Prankster, Cafe Kismet, Blarney Stone, Pirette's Music Cove, Guthrie's Folk Club.  I've also enjoyed playing for protest rallies because music has an important place in the fight for democracy.

JB:     What is your favorite Musical Genre?

CC:     I have very eclectic musical tastes including Folk (Don't Think Twice, Circles, Can't Help Wondering Where I'm Bound), Pop (American Pie, Dream a Little Dream of Me, Good Time Charlie's Got the Blues, The Boxer) , Rock {Sister Golden Hair, Take it Easy, I've Just Seen a Face),  Country (Gentle on My Mind, Me and Bobbie McGee, King of the Road).   People might not agree with my classification there. I just care more about it being a good song than what genre it's in.

I was also a teen and young adult in the 70's, so I love music from the 60's and 70's.

JB:     Do you perform in RL as well?

CC:     I've played in some guitar circles and open mics.  I am a poster child for introversion so promoting myself isn't at the top of my list.

JB:     What has been the most memorable performance of your career so far?

CC:     I performed at an open mic in a brewery in McKinney Texas.  I was playing the Bob Dylan classic, “You Ain’t Going Nowhere”.  A fellow performer jumped up and joined in the chorus, but he didn't know the song that well and it went horribly and we botched the whole thing!  I was relieved we were in a brewery.

JB:     Who were your musical idols and those who have been the greatest influencers of your musical style?

CC:     Oh, the list is long, and I won't include them all here, but probably in order:  Glen Campbell's musicality on guitar and with his voice made him an extraordinary crossover talent.  John Denver's writing and performance spanned ballads, social issues, down home fun. The Beatles - What can you say?  Nothing about them I didn't like.  Eagles and America were so emblematic of youth in the 1970's.   Gordon Lightfoot was among the best singer-songwriters ever and was so revered in his native Canada (John Prine called him his hero), Pete Seeger, in addition to his encyclopedic knowledge of world folk music, was a great and courageous American. And John Prine...well if you don't know him, go find his music.  If you don't admire his humor and awareness, I'm not sure what to say...  But there were many more.

JB:     What has been your biggest challenge breaking into the Music Industry?

CC:     When my family was living in Germany in the 1960's, my sister saved up some money and we walked to a German department store where she had her eye on a guitar.  She bought the guitar and it was her pride and joy. When I wanted to borrow it to learn how to play, she didn't hesitate.  I bought a book of Beatles songs with a chord chart in the back and slogged through teaching myself how to play.  I never took lessons, which was a huge mistake (if you're learning, take lessons).  From there, I had a series of progressively better guitars.  But I am not an attention seeker (this interview is awkward).  So most of my playing has been for my own private enjoyment.  It wasn't until Second Life that a friend coaxed me into playing in an open mic.  It wasn't a disaster, so I kept at it, and now it feels pretty comfortable.  As for breaking into the music industry, I'm not sure I've actually done that.

JB:     How would you describe the brand that you now represent?

CC:     The perfect combination of song variety and mistakes.  I also dabble in songwriting.  My favorite original is “I've Got a Fabulous Watchdog” which can be heard on Sound Cloud.   I have a wonderful dog named Maple, and I noticed one day that she almost always sits and watches me play and sing.   The song just popped into my head and I had it written in under an hour.  If they were always so easy!

JB:     Where would our SL readers go who want to hear you live and in concert?

CC:     Currently, I am performing at  Pirette's Music Cove every other Saturday and The Blarney Stone every other Thursday.  I am also listed in the SL Live Music schedule, so you can find me there. Come check it out.

JB:     Do you have any Social Media Sites out there where readers can learn more about you?

CC:     I don't.  Humanity isn't ready for social media, and it's eating our lunch. But I would love for you to join my group.  Just give me a shout and I'll add you.

JB:     Chipper, there are lots of budding musicians in SecondLife.  What advice would you give to any aspiring musicians out there today?

CC:     Find open mics to play and don't be afraid to ask for help.  The streaming mechanics can be daunting at first, but it's really not so hard.  Don't be afraid to perform. There are people performing at all skill levels doing it.

So there you have it, folks.  Nobody has said it better. You really do need to catch this guy’s act.  He really is quite amazing. Go check him out at Pirette's Music Cove, or at The Blarney Stone.  You’ll be glad ya did.

And when you do, tell ‘em “Josh sent ya”

Be there!  Aloha!

JB

Introducing ღ亗Dяєѕι ℓιgαтι亗ღ (dresella.joubert); New Events Coordinator for XRadio, a Worldwide Superstation- Lanai Jarrico Reporting…

If you don’t know…You'd better ask somebody!   XRadio, the Worldwide Superstation, is an internet radio freeform music station streaming live at XRADIO.ZONE is popular in virtual worlds like Second Life. The forty-meter Tower of Power spreads its signal throughout the metaverse. Auto DJ programming includes rock, rap, rave, and remixes. For more information, visit XRadio.Zone. With that said, let's turn our attention to Dresi; XRadio’s new Events Coordinator. She may be new to XRadio, but she isn’t new to Second Life. With over 18 years of virtual world and owner of  Biology Club for over a decade, Dresi brings expert event knowledge to the airwaves.  The SL Enquirer caught up with Dresi for a chat.

Interview with  ღ亗Dяєѕι ℓιgαтι亗ღ (dresella.joubert)

Lanai: Hey Dresi, it’s been a while, how are you?

ღ亗Dяєѕι ℓιgαтι亗ღ (dresella.joubert):  Hey Lanai!  It sure has been a minute.  It’s great to reconnect with you.

Lanai: Likewise! Before we get all into this very exciting news,  can you tell our readers a little bit about your experience in Second Life?

ღ亗Dяєѕι ℓιgαтι亗ღ (dresella.joubert):  Oh gosh… So much in 18 years.  I started in the club business as a host almost immediately after joining SL, realizing that I was going to need some income to do anything.  After having learned how clubs work in SL, I opened my first club.  I was owner or part-owner of several successful clubs, beginning with Prohibition, Xtinction, Safari Club and all of that led me to my club of the past 10 years, Biology Club.  About 4 years ago, I was approached by Ennie Minotaur (enya.footman), Station Manager at XRadio, and asked if I was interested in being a station DJ.  I jumped at the opportunity, and it has been one of the best experiences of my SL and my RL.  This opportunity catapulted me into a RL DJ business as well!

Lanai: I’m so excited for you! With the Biology Club being a staple venue in the Second Life community, what have you learned to keep the crowds coming?

ღ亗Dяєѕι ℓιgαтι亗ღ (dresella.joubert):  Oh it’s quite an ebb and flow in the club business but, in general, consistency, longevity, and always looking for new, interesting engagements for our guests.

Lanai: It’s working for you, girl. So.. A little virtual birdie told me you are now the new events coordinator for XRadio! That’s so exciting. XRadio has been around a long time and has a big following across the metaverse. How did this opportunity come about?

ღ亗Dяєѕι ℓιgαтι亗ღ (dresella.joubert):  Yes!  This is something that I am so excited about.  Station owners, Jude Connors and Darkmantle made an executive decision to push the station in the direction of “doing good” and giving back to the community at large.  Given my experiences working with Rock Your Rack, Multiverse Fair, and Relay for Life, as well as my years of planning and executing successful events for my clubs, they felt I would be a good fit in a management role with the station as its Events Coordinator.  Jude approached me with the idea and I was honored to have been selected for the role.

Lanai: They chose wisely. In my years of knowing you., you’ve been a professional in your field and a driving force in virtual world venue entertainment.  With you as the New face of Events for XRadio, what can the SL Community expect?

ღ亗Dяєѕι ℓιgαтι亗ღ (dresella.joubert):  Well, I’m so happy you asked this!  XRadio has an INCREDIBLE Affiliate program that offers a good many opportunities and benefits for venues across the SL grid who play XRadio when they are not engaged in an event.  Benefits such as ad production and airtime, XRadio kiosk with a variety of useful tools for venue support, and - here is where I come into the fold - roaming events at our affiliate venues with XRadio DJs, event promotion and production with full coverage of each event being broadcast live on XRadio.  You can also expect to see XRadio in a more visible role in such charities as Beats for Humanity - our upcoming keystone event to benefit the International Red Cross and Rock Your Rack, Jamee Sandalwood’s fall event to benefit the National Breast Cancer Foundation.  XRadio will also host various major holiday events as well.

Lanai: I love that you all engage in Charities to help those in need of life saving support, even from a virtual world.  Tell our readers about the upcoming charity event for the International Red Cross.

ღ亗Dяєѕι ℓιgαтι亗ღ (dresella.joubert):  We are so incredibly excited about our upcoming collaboration with the International Red Cross!  As the WORLDWIDE SUPERSTATION, XRadio wanted to make sure that we were doing good globally and the International Red Cross was the perfect charitable partner for us to collaborate with.  The event is taking place May 8-10 on the beautiful Solstice Isle, home of the XRadio headquarters.  We will have a website that you can visit to make donations and kiosks across the event venue where donations can be made.  We will have vendor booths available for rent, a stage area for our musical events, and we will offer promotional packages for our sponsors.  100% of all event management and staff, vendor packages and benefits, and kiosk donations will go DIRECTLY to support the International Red Cross.   REACH OUT TO DRESI LIGATI (dresella.joubert) in world or in Discord (@dresiligati) or via email (djdresi@gmail.com) if you are interested in SPONSORSHIP PACKAGES OR BOOTH RENTALS!

Lanai: Where can Second Lifers find out about this and the other events you set up?

ღ亗Dяєѕι ℓιgαтι亗ღ (dresella.joubert):  We will broadcast them on our station, XRadio.zone, in our Discord Server (http://discord.xradio.zone/), in our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/search/top?q=xradio) , in our XRadio group (secondlife:///app/group/81bb86c4-1cc3-0afc-547e-6dd92e1039fb/about)  in world, as well as in the Biology Club groups - inworld (secondlife:///app/group/3d42ad19-fc0a-f717-eeaa-c37072c88328/about) , on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/BiologyClubSL/) and in Discord (https://discord.gg/7CHBAMxvJ).

Lanai: Thank you for sharing all those outlets to learn more about your events. How can Venues be a part of XRadio?

ღ亗Dяєѕι ℓιgαтι亗ღ (dresella.joubert):  Venues AND interested DJ personalities can go to the XRadio website at XRadio.zone and complete the application for Venue or DJ, respectively.  You will be contacted by our station manager, Ennie Minotaur (enya.footman), and she will guide interested parties through the process.

Lanai: That sounds simple enough. Is there an in-world group SL residents and venue owners can join for up-to-date XRadio events?

ღ亗Dяєѕι ℓιgαтι亗ღ (dresella.joubert):  yes, indeed!  Search for XRadio inworld and join the group OR visit the XRadio Headquarters inworld (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Solstice%20Isle/158/150/25) and tap the Group Joiner.

Lanai: Readers, make sure you drop by and check it out, join, and be part of this movement across the metaverse! Dresi, is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?

ღ亗Dяєѕι ℓιgαтι亗ღ (dresella.joubert):  Actually, yes.  I want everyone to know that if they have ideas or information about anything that they would like us to develop into an XRadio event, charity or otherwise, or if they think they might want to collaborate with XRadio on an event or occasion, they can reach out to me inworld (dresella.joubert) or in Facebook (Dresi Ligati) or in Discord (@dresiligati).  I can’t wait to hear what events you would like to see XRadio producing!

Lanai: Dresi, it’s been a pleasure sharing this exciting news with our readers. I look forward to what you bring to the table for 2026 and beyond!

SPOTLIGHT ON InKline Media's BILL KAYE: He just doesn't know when to throw in the towel- Lanai Jarrico Reporting…

A wise Avi once said, Second Life is like a box of old chocolates… You never know what you are going to bite into and break a tooth…I totally agree.

While minding my business at the SL Enquirer Media Center, I startled Bill Kaye; founder of inKLine Media, who appeared to be standing still near the wall, admiring the wallpaper… Wait, we don’t have any wallpaper.

Bill was just standing there in complete silence. So, as I do with any other Media member visiting The SL Enquirer, I approached cautiously as if preparing for a zombie apocalypse, and I said Hi.

Interview with Bill Kaye

Lanai: Hey Bill.

Bill: AAAHHHhhhHHH!

Lanai: Oh! My bad. Are you ok?

Bill: Well, I haven’t blinked in several hours while staring, so my eyes are a bit dry. Besides that, I am pretty good, Lanai. I’m glad to see your stealth skills are still sharp. I always said you’d make a great ninja.

Lanai: I don’t know about being a Ninja, but I do love to wear the color black. It gives mystery and intrigue.  So, Bill, what brings you to The SL Enquirer?

Bill: Well I reopened my media business after a 12 year hiatus. You may remember me and/or it-inKLine Media. *Lanai blinks with a vacant stare* We ran a business magazine and you partnered with us for a short while. *Lanai blinks with a vacant stare* You even offered us space at your headquarters even. We carpooled together for like a year,.  *Lanai blinks with a vacant stare* Well anyway, I got things going again. So if you want to clear out this space here, I’ll have my team move my stuff in.

Lanai:*snaps out of the excessive blank stare*. Sorry, that must have been a “glitch in the matrix” moment. Yes, I kinda sorta remember you. *squints eyes and stares him down* Welcome back after a decade and a half. Let's have a seat outside and for a chat.  Are you here to stir the Media pot again?  Please tell our readers about Inkline Media and its triumphant return to the media scene here on the grid.

Bill:  Okay, I prepared for this question and wrote it down. Milk…eggs…bread…canned corn. Crap, that’s my grocery list. I’ll just speak from the heart. I had to pause our operation 12 years ago because I received an amazing opportunity as a result of our work. I brought it back because I want to create a platform for someone else to receive a similarly amazing opportunity. Focusing on my work also helps me avoid addressing my alarming personal defects, so it’s a win-win.

Lanai:  Without trying to intimidate me with competition or your grocery list. Can you describe the evolution of your Media source from 2012 to the present? What services are you offering? Do I need to be worried?

Bill: Lanai, if I were trying to intimidate you, I would have sent an amputated pinky in the mail like I did when we first met all those years ago. I’ve matured since then. So the full hand should arrive via personal courier in a few days. But thank you for the question. Since 2012, I have developed my own personal skillset. My writing and photography have improved. I’ve delved much further into video. I’m still terrible, but my therapist says  I have improved markedly.

Lanai: Oh ewww. Please don't. I think it's great that you are getting back into something you love. I can relate. It’s kinda like having a sad codependent breakup, making up and getting back together after years of uneventful, loveless experiences…. So, what are you working on now?

Bill: Are you okay, Lanai? Why are you sobbing? If you want, I can refer you to my therapist. Her name is Susan. Well, right now I have been hired for some exciting video work, but I am also working on our blog and writing about this amazing world we both inhabit. As our library of content grows, I plan to publish another magazine and possibly produce a show. I just need a talented co-hostess.

Lanai: Oh I wasn’t sobbing, I got a lash in my eye. Anyway, let’s head to your HQ before the paparazzi gets here. We don’t need any extra publicity.

Lanai: Spiffy little place ya got here. *looks around the sketchy area* As you know, this economy sucks right now, and peeps are looking for jobs to help pay their tiers or other  *clears throat*  SL expensive habits… Are you hiring? If so, what positions are you offering? The qualifications should be that they are somewhat normal, right?

Bill: Relax, you are fine. Why? Are you looking for a job? I warn you, Lanai. We do background checks. Actually, we don’t, but in your case, I would. But yes! We are! This is the most exciting part for me. In our newest iteration of inKLine Media, we will hire 90% of our employees as freelancers. This enables us to hire a much larger staff of writers, designers, videographers, photographers, DJs, performers, animators, and builders. We even hired someone who gives really good foot rubs! Those freelancers will have access to job listings as we receive work from clients. They can snatch up the contract by calling dibs and receive 75% of the total project income. The other 25% will go to the business to pay for tier and unnecessary impulse purchases from the Marketplace. Let’s go inside. I don’t trust these streets.

Lanai: Thank you for being mindful of my security… No, I’m not looking for a job, but that does sound pretty interesting. The foot rubs part, so do the opportunities you are offering. Random, but I have to ask…. Who the f*ck is Moe? And what do they know?

Bill: Oh, that guy. He says he’s a distant cousin, but I never saw him at a family reunion. He used to be very troubled and ran with the wrong crowd, but it seems like he cleaned up his act and focused his violent tendencies into something more constructive. Last I checked, he was the Undisputed Champion at Premier Wrestling, but no one likes him there either. He’s kind of an obnoxious dude.

Lanai: OK. Thank you for the clarification. Cool. Does he come with a car seat? lol So, where can readers go to learn more about Inkline Media?

Bill: Anyway, they can visit our website at https://inklinemedia.wordpress.com/, or I can send them personalized letters with words that were cut out of magazines.

Lanai: That sounds kinda familiar. Was it you who sent me that awful Secret Valentine card? I’ll have you know I sent it to the FBI. *stares him down* Do you have an in-world group?

Bill: Wasn't me. We have a group, and they can join it for all of the latest updates. The Group Key is: 272f8097-fe55-ff6f-f116-a9d74a24493b. And we’re hoping to put together a recreational softball team for summer.

Lanai: That’s pretty cool.  I have to say you are one of the most laid-back people I’ve interviewed in a long time.  I think that chair might be broken.

Bill: That chair was broken before I got here, and you can’t prove otherwise.

Lanai: Before we throw in the towel on this interview, is there anything you’d like to share with our readers?

Bill: Nah. You can figure out something nice to say.

Lanai: If you insist.  Hey SLE readers, check out InKline Media. If you need a job or a half-decent foot rub… I think he will throw in a towel for free.  Contact Bill Kaye.

 *awkward silence*

LUXE Paris News: Saturday April 18th FASHION as a LOVE POTION Dont miss the show of the year!

With 25 of the world's top models, a completely innovative concept, and meticulous preparation by an extraordinary team, the FASHION as a LOVE POTION show by LUXE Paris, on April 18 at noon, promises to be the fashion event of the year!

Although she has created several sets for various modeling agencies, this is the first time that Aria Absinthe, LUXE Paris ambassador, has produced a fashion show from start to finish. What makes us think it will be a resounding success? Her passion, her exceptional organizational skills, and the extraordinary team she has assembled.

Looks to seduce
The challenge was not easy. It wasn't simply a matter of handing clothes to the models. This time, the elite models first had to choose the archetype of woman or man they wished to portray in order to seduce on the catwalk, using fashion.

Next, they had to create their own "love potion" look by exploring the approximately 500 outfits in the LUXE Paris flagship store. By combining, enhancing, and transforming LUXE Paris garments to their liking, they will showcase their very personal style in this extraordinary show!

''This significant creative contribution from the models infuses the show with a great deal of authenticity,'' highlights the producer, having already reviewed all the looks for the April 18th show.

“Each look feels deeply considered because it stems from the model’s interpretation; it’s not simply a selection imposed by the designer.”

“This translates into a greater presence on the runway.
You won’t just see fashion, you’ll see identity, perspective, emotion!”

The stars and their fashion elixir
As a small appetizer before the feast, here are the seductive characters our runway stars chose to portray.

Ale Chun will be a modern icon.
Ava Jhamin says she'll be the hot girl
Cesar Langer will go for minimalism
Danity Mynx chose to be a rebel muse
Diana Bauhaus will reveal the libertine woman within her
Jenny Starling will play the high-society woman
Jonathan Venus will dare the libertine man.
Lali Arbizu will unleash the gentle storm dormant within her
Larida Andel will capitalize on her sophisticated side.
Lorez Aichi will dazzle the runway with his extroverted style.
Lua Vendetta will become a nocturnal muse.
Memole Giha will portray a woman of authority.
Mila Blauvelt will reveal her enigmatic side.
Naar Absinthe will be a femme fatale.
Negly Claremont will embody a romantic powerful woman.
Nonoya will focus on pure romance.
Ponchituti Boucher will seduce with minimalism.
Steele Sirnah will rely on the charm of the night knight.
Tilly Opaline will be an intellectual woman.
TwinkieBean will reveal the sensual woman within.
Wartooth will be a visionary woman.

As for Aria, who, in addition to her work as a producer, will walk the runway, she will rely on the charm of an heiress.

"It's wonderful to see renowned models not only presenting fashion, but also embodying it," emphasizes the producer.

"These supermodels are incredible.
They gave their all to the project! I am deeply grateful to them."

The dream team
Aria est tout aussi emballée par son équipe de production.

“We all share the same level of commitment, which allows everything to run perfectly,” says Aria, amazed.

TwinkieBean and Nikolina Valencourt have been my partners in every step of preparing this innovative show. From the smallest details to the most important decisions, we’ve moved forward together. That kind of synergy is rare.

“Twinkie is like a sister to me. She’s endlessly creative, incredibly organized, and always finds a way to lend a hand. She’s not only an exceptional collaborator but also a wonderful person with a beautiful soul.

“Nikolina Valencourt is the mastermind behind much of our work. She never ceases to amaze me. Whenever we had an idea or faced a challenge, her response was always, ‘I can do it’ or ‘I can write the script.’ I’ve learned so much from her during this experience!”

Eyema Straaf Hooly Lionheart, for her part, has contributed an incredible choreographic vision. Her ability to transform movement into storytelling added a completely new dimension to the show!”

“Next up, we have Lazlo Hunter, our DJ and lighting specialist, who will bring the atmosphere to life. His talent for combining sound and light creates an ambiance that enhances every moment of the show.”

“Also joining us are Dresden Coublanc, the voice of the show, and Vanessa Jane, our chat host,” adds Aria.

“Dresden will infuse incredible energy and connection throughout the show. Her voice has immense power: it can guide a moment and captivate the audience.

“Vanessa, winner of LUXE Paris LOOK of the YEAR 2024, ensures that the show flows naturally and elegantly. Her words, her sense of timing, and her consistency guarantee impeccable communication.”

“In addition, we are fortunate to have the renowned videographer Javi Gearz and the excellent photographer Abbie to capture the event.”

“Finally, I want to underline the unwavering support of the LUXE Paris team,” Aria concludes.

“Their passion and the trust they placed in us, giving us complete creative freedom and sharing their expertise when we needed it, were a true source of inspiration.

''In fact, it was that trust that made all of this possible!”

The LOOK of the DAY in the audience
The "Love Potion" fashion show will also feature an interactive performance for the audience. Spectators are invited to attend dressed in their best LUXE Paris outfit, as a jury will select the LUXE Paris LOOK of the DAY!

The winner, male or female, will receive L$5,000 in cash, while the two runners-up will each receive a LUXE Paris gift card worth L$2,000.

Everyone is invited to participate in this first-ever LOOK of the DAY contest. Simply arrive at least 20 minutes before the start of the show, dressed in your best LUXE Paris look. The jury will be in the observation tower starting at 11:30 a.m.

The winner of the LOOK of the DAY contest will be announced at the end of the show.

LUXE Paris will also take advantage of the event to present its new Beachwear Collection. This equally seductive and charming collection will be presented in the second part of the show.

A prestigious jury
The first LOOK of the DAY – this competition will take place at all LUXE Paris fashion shows – will be chosen by a prestigious panel of supermodels and personalities from the world of design and media.
