Avie Poll: The Best Bargain for Land Prices- Debby Sharma Reporting...

Photograph Credits: The Torch SL Guide.com (now called as: The Torch Entertainment Guide)

It’s the holiday season already, can you believe it?
Halloween just passed and Christmas is due after Thanksgiving. It is happening all so fast! In this merry time, we are all looking for good deals not only in real life but also in SL. From clothing stores and accessories to gadgets and avatar components-If we know where to look, many stores are offering good deals but the land barons are not far behind as well.

Victoria Chung is offering a 1024 sqm of 230 prims for just L$203/week. One such offer, I was quick to bag. (P.S. Thanks to Lanai for this assignment or I wouldn’t have looked around for such bargains) There are others who are offering L$1 for 1 prim. Even though, I own a piece of land, my habit of looking for bargain deals have been there since noob days. I am sure there are people like me who are still up for bargains. Anyways, I started asking a few of my friends what their take was on this issue.

Photography Credits: Google

To make it simple, I asked the following questions:
·         What is the reason you need  land ? For a shop, home or other reasons?
·         Do you prefer an inland parcel or a sea facing one?
·         Are you renting from anyone at the moment?
·         May I know the name of your Estate Owner?
·         Do you usually look for cheap land rentals in http://search.secondlife.com?
·         If you are given Bonus prims, do such deals attract you?
·         What do you think the prices should be for a Full sim?

The replies are as follows:

Photography Credits: Iyath

Iyath: I would to have land for home and an entertainment area. A sea-facing is preferable because am planning for an entertainment, I would be routing the sea. Yes, my partner and I are renting from Jessica Chung. I took 2048 sqm and got close to 600 prims which i find quite sufficient. I search land based on service providers. I look for reliability rather than cheap. I will rather look at a parcel which is there for some time, though it’s expensive than going to a newbie who started it lately and selling it for less price. I would go GAGA when i get extra prims. I have no idea about the price of Full region. My dreams are not that big. For the land I use; considering I use it for commercial purpose and traffic i would get i will love to pay 650$ per week.

Photography Credits: Kammie2

Kammie2: I would have a home facing the sea. I am renting for D'Alliez. I was referred and had the location I was looking for. No, I don’t look for cheap deals. I would consider a deal with Bonus prims, 1/4th sim away from people.  According to me, the right price for a full sim would be 3K per week.

Photography Credits: Leala Spire

Leala Spire: I would have land for a home facing the sea. I'm an estate manager for a friend so rent free. SheaJane Carami but she has been out of SL for a year. I'm taking care of land for her. Yes, I look for cheap land deals in search. I like looking for good deals on homesteads or full regions. Bonus prim deals are interesting yes but not something that would weigh in a decision to buy. I look for price and prim count. I would love to see the prices come down a bit. Right now they are running 19K to 17K a week. I would move to have my own if the prices drop down to 14K or 15K a week.

Photography Credits: Lysa Clarence

Lysa Clarence: I want empty place, mature and look around nice. I mean not big walls no big building. If it is for shop I like that land with streets. Well i don’t rely on known names. I used to rent a lot and when i say a lot means from many estates, other than mainland, I don’t like at all. I used to rent the most cheaply where I have to stay the most time usually from Chung family. But in all the places I stayed, this place where I`m staying now, I like the most. I like the name of the land and the place; it is on a corner with a bonus prim package with a reasonable price. I have rented for Hum4ever Magic of Chahit Estates; a South East corner parcel, Indian Paradise. People search cheap lands for many prims, although, I like a good price with good prims.

Photography Credits: Trinity Yazimoto

Trinity Yazimoto: If I had no land, I would have one for my store and my home. I don’t like beaches and sea in RL, so i don’t like in SL, my preference would be somewhere in mounts, but i don’t mind. My land has a view on the sea on one side. It opens the view; so i don’t hate it, well, let's say i don’t mind inland or sea facing, it’s equal for me. I have almost a 1/4 sim on a private estate from New found land estates. I don’t look for cheap deals. I have never thought to it. I am COO of an event that is quarterly. So, we look for a land each for 4 months. And I didn’t ever think to look there, I will next time. (Laughs) I look for at least 3500 prims, higher is better but then the price is a limit too. I never understood what is a Bonus prim. I have a bonus factor of 1.07 here where i am but I don’t know what it means. So well, to answer your question, as I never understood what it was, it never made a difference. The price of Full sim could be, well really less than what it is. I would say $200 USD max, which is a dream.

Irrespective of the size of the land, the prims offered, the price; there is a universal opinion that the Land prices are a bit higher. But considering the space is occupies on servers and giving the freedom to an individual, the price and prim count is still worth it.  People decide on the basis of their requirement. I also believe that the next step is the deal that is best at any point of time. The reason I rent a land is for workshop and office. Sandboxes don’t help me build with a auto-return factor. If you ask, is it worth it to rent a workshop, yes because it is my place to plunge into creativity. I usually prefer the inland to live because I like to see what my neighbors did to their place too; in short, it makes me feel that I belong to a community. I am renting from Victoria Chung, 2 estates on 2 different regions. I am always on the lookout for parcels/homes/skyboxes with cheap deals for both unfurnished and furnished. It is a habit that I have since my noob days; just like I keep an eye for the deals on outfits, gadgets, décor etc. I do not like Bonus prims, it is not a factor when I buy a land. If the factor is not right, it might cause lag for the Full Sim, including your neighbors. So, it is a no. As for the price of the Full sim, in my opinion I am willing to accept it, as I am aware of the maintenance cost for the server preserving my creations my dream even when I am sleeping.

Halloween isn’t just about Trick or Treat- Debby Sharma Reporting...

Photography Credits: http://craftywitchmoonstone.blogspot.com

It’s Halloween again! People are busy getting their last minute costume accessories, Halloween party invitations are circulating  and children are getting excited about counting candy.  It’s time to get those pumpkin lanterns and recipe book out while we all wait for October 31st for a Trick or Treat! It also marks the end of Fall and the start of Winter.
Halloween is celebrated with superstitions, pranks and lots of playful fun.. Have you ever thought about the true origin of  Halloween?  It wasn’t always about costumes and candy.
Halloween began during the ancient Celtic Festival about 2000 years ago, called Samhain which was celebrated on October 31st.  November 1st was celebrated as the start of their New Year. The time of October end and the start of November every year, the days are shorter and the nights become longer, symbolizing the start of Winter.
During the Samhain Festival, on October 31st, the dead were thought to return as ghosts. As the dead were those of the loved ones, food and wine were kept outside the doors as an offering to their beloved for their last journey.  If the celts had to leave their houses for the night, they would dress like a ghost to blend in amongst the dead.
The end of harvest and the beginning of cold dark winter was closely associated with the dead and the undead. In the past, people were afraid of the dark. The fear of the unknown still lingers among human beings today.
The Celts lived in Ireland, the United Kingdom and Northern France. By 43 A.D. Romans had conquered most of the Celtic regions. During their rule, Feralia (tradition commemorated for the passing of the dead) and Pomona (honour female Goddess of fruits and trees) were celebrated along with Samhain Festival on the same days.

In 609 A.D Pope Boniface IV, introduced Pantheon in Rome to dedicate to hour all Catholic Martyrs. Pope Gregory III, in the 8th Century introduced the All Saints Day incorporating a few traditions of the Samhain Festival on November 1st to honour the martyrs and saints. Hence, the evening before, was called the All Hallows Eve, and later called as Halloween. All Hallows or All Hallomas came from Middle English, Aholowmesse meaning All Saints Day.
In Second Life, Halloween is a big festival, celebrated across the grid. Designers create costumes for special Halloween Hunts and Halloween shopping events. Themed Costume parties are held in many clubs. The celebrations usually begin with start of October, although, the major celebrations are witnesses during the end of the month. Spotlight on SS Entice: Interview with Blissful Souls- Debby Sharma Reporting...

Photography Credits: Leela Qissinger

Adult sims have always been a huge attraction in Second Life. Few writers have reviewed about it critically and others have supported it. None the less, they haven’t lost the charm of attracting crowds towards it. Although, few may argue that it is not the only attraction, and they are right. Activities on adult sims are one of major attractions of Second Life. The freedom it inculcates among the human beings keeping their name and gender in secrecy gives the residents a freedom to live as they wanted to without the imprecations of the society.

In role plays, love affairs, family life style and in real life, the intimate moments are kept under hushed voices between the lovers. A natural process of dedicating to each other is often misread as a crime if not legally bonded. The thirst to quench ones hormonal drive is required to reduce undue acts towards inferior or submissive individuals of society. Hence, we all need places to be free from the binds of societal norms.

SS Entice is one such club in Second Life actively participating in giving individuals their freedom. Their magazine has a thought provoking idea of discussing topics based on sensuous feelings and hormonal drive towards other individuals. It was more like a knowledge base for me as we are not given such education in any form at all.

Debby Sharma: Please tell us about your Second Life journey and your role in SS Entice.
Blissful Souls: I have been on Second Life for a few years as the President of Shadow Ridaz MC.  We decided to open Entice so that our MC could generate an income as well as myself personally could generate an income.  Opening an Adult Entertainment place seemed like the best way to do that.  It is a lot of hard work & a labor of love because of the amount of work it is taking to get it started. I am CEO of The Entice & have been the sole one building this Club.

Debby Sharma: What was the idea behind creation of the yacht and the landscape?
Blissful Souls: The idea for the Yacht was mine because I love boats simple as that and that is where I wanted to spend my time.  So, why wouldn't others.

Debby Sharma: The Entice Magazine talks about the importance of intimacy and the various ways of achieving it. A very few individuals actually dare to indulge in exchanging views. What was the motivation behind it and please explain a little more about it?
Blissful Souls: I just wanted a forum to be able to express feelings people have about intimacy is all. I am a writer & have a lot to express myself & wanted a place to do that as well as feature the dancers I have in the club.

Photography Credits: Leela Qissinger

Debby Sharma: How do you think Second Life adult regions, like the SS Entice club, help in inculcating the sexual drive in the real life of a person? Do you think one is satisfied completely?

Blissful Souls: I am not so sure I believe in all that – I just simply believe Secondlife is just an outlet for everyone.  They get to experience things they might not be able to in real life.
Debby Sharma: Is the sensual exotic experience different from what people achieve via role plays like Gor or modern family?

Blissful Souls: I am not sure I know nothing about Gor & as far as the Modern Family goes like I said Second Life is an outlet I believe...

Debby Sharma: What kind of events should a customer look out for at the SS Entice?
Blissful Souls: We will be having lots of live Events.  All Male Reviews – Drag Shows – Featured Dancer Extravaganza’s – BDSM Themed Events and so much more...

Debby Sharma: Please tell us something about your team and any memorable moments you had with them. Would you like to share a few words with your fans?
Blissful Souls: I would love to say I had a team to help me with this but I have yet to find one yet.  I am still looking so if there is anyone out there who wants to work hard toward a successful goal then please contact me. To my fans, come on out & have the best time you could possibly have on Second Life.

SS Entice is a beautiful beach island with a yacht just waiting to take you to the luxury. It is a good place to have fun, hangout or just to explore around. The beach is a picturesque for photographers and bloggers.

The Liberta Bullring Music Festival - Debby Sharma reporting ....

This weekend “The Liberta Bullring Music Festival” celebrates the love for music and the freedom it bestows on each soul. The rhythm we hear when a string or a drum is played in periodic intervals; the feeling to move and groove when we hear a beat; the peace that is interpreted in every note is the result of music.

Pic by Leela Qissinger
Rejoicing the love for music, we have partied since our noob days in Second Life. A one of a kind festival hits the grid to celebrate the best music ever. A three day event would be taking the grid by storm, the Liberta Music Festival will be held this weekend. The kick off of the pre-opening will begin at 3:45 pm on Friday, 21st August, 2015 with two DJs mixing live music followed by fireworks and DJ Bully (Bully Trisk) commencing the start of the music festival at 6:00 pm SLT, the same day. I had the opportunity to interview Bully Trisk. Here are a few words from the person who consolidated a good team to host a big event.

Debby Sharma: Please tell us about yourself.

Bully Trisk (Bully67): I’m just a guy who enjoys Second Life and all that it has to offer. I especially love how it’s a remarkable platform to connect with others around the world, who you can share your passions with and learn from.

Debby Sharma: What was your motivation to host a Music festival?

Bully Trisk (Bully67): Music itself has been a very big part of my life since I can remember. I have seen many examples, in first and second lives, how music has the ability to easily connect people who would otherwise have very little in common. It’s always been the goal of my SL family to engage with that process. It was a natural next step in our combined journey to invite all whom may wish to attend, the chance to see, touch, feel and taste the magic we’ve experienced through the appreciation of the diversity music offers.

Debby Sharma: We know “Liberta” has come from the Latin word meaning freedom. What is the significance of this name, “Liberta Bullring Music Festival” to you?

Bully Trisk (Bully67): Freedom is a concept that I believe is either sought after or enjoyed all around the world. Especially lately with everything that is happening, we felt that offering a reminder to all that no matter what our life’s circumstance are, or the myriad of challenges we face in our daily lives, that music and expression through music can connect and free us all from the limitations we sometimes feel shackled by. Even if it’s just a song in our hearts that we silently carry with ourselves, there is sense that we have the power to individually and collectively experience Liberty.

Pic by Leela  Qissinger

Debby Sharma: What are the best things about your team? Are there any special moments with them that you would remember for life?

Bully Trisk (Bully67): The best thing about my team is that I have been blessed to have them on this project. They are very dear to me, and each person is tremendously talented and determined, having strengths in areas that sometimes I do not. Their ability to work as a team for the first time on a major project and do it without ego or for the purposes of self-aggrandizement is humbling and inspirational. Each day honestly has been a whirlwind of excitement and successes, fun and hearty laughs that I will never forget.

The Bullring Family

Debby Sharma: What kind of music would we be expecting during the festival and who are performing?

Bully Trisk (Bully67): With only a few exceptions, the music experienced throughout the festival will be mixed live on stage by some of the best DJ’s from around the globe. We’re focusing on Electronic dance music, but to say that is a genre is almost a misnomer. Because there are hundreds of sub genres in EDM and EBM, it is sure to be an exhibition in diversity, with something for everyone.

Debby Sharma: What would you like to tell your sponsors, supporters and fans?

Bully Trisk (Bully67): To my Sponsors, Lick Sim Design and Something Estates, I wish to express my sincere gratitude for believing in us enough to partner with us and make this happen. They are very wonderful and amazing brands, run by some extremely incredible people. To my supporters within the family and those others around me, I wish to simply say I love you truly, thank you for being there always and adding your light to my life. And finally to my fans…. Thanks Mom!!! (Smiles)

Pic by Leela Qissinger
Debby Sharma: Do you have any plans to extend this festival to a yearly event? Or do we expect any new kind of festivals in near future?

Bully Trisk (Bully67): I think it’s safe to say there are some projects already on the table for the future, but right now I’m staying wholly focused on today because it’s where the magic happens. Thank you so much for asking such great questions and I hope to see you and your amazing team at SL Enquirer here at this amazing event!

Project Hope Island- Debby Sharma Reporting...

“Don’t pray for an easy life, pray for the strength to endure a difficult one.”
-          Bruce Lee

It is failure, loss, loneliness and grief that we all have faced at some time or the other. At some point of our life, we have wanted to end this life, however short the moment might be. Loss of a loved one, loss of self-respect, failure in an examination, failure to provide for family, failure to be someone respectable in society and so on. With so many challenges and obstacles that life presents us, there are numerous man made challenges like abuse, trafficking, murders and other criminal activities. The trail doesn’t end here, there are incurable diseases like Cancer to natural disasters; there are wars to droughts to hunger and poverty. Every day we wake up to face a new challenge in order to survive another day. In a perfect world, a father works hard to support his family, a mother works hard to feed her family, a child works hard to assure the future of the family. The daily life starts with posing outright obstacles and ends with a relief of living another day.
Photography Credits: Google Search
Suicide is said to be a cowardice act, a crime in eyes of law, an evil deed in Lord’s eyes. We often hear it is easy to end a life; it is difficult to live one. But how often have we taken the initiative to learn the reasons where a victim is forced to take his/her life? How often have we looked over our shoulder to provide support to the one who has lost the battle? How often have we offered a hand of support without expecting anything in return? We often say something like we are so busy in our lives; we have so many problems to deal with; I have given a donation to a charity; the company that I work for has charitable branch and I donate monthly. But, have we ever given a thought to whose life are we making a difference to in such a support? Have we ever wanted to listen to part of the story of the victim?
Project Hope Island is a place of serenity created by Arwen Mannonen for individuals who need help; people who are distressed and want to commit suicide. It is a peer to peer support group, functioning to give resources and encouragement for the one who have none. Resources like Help-line numbers, Support groups, Domestic Violence resources and Books to prevent suicide.
Photography Credits: Leela Qissinger

A few of the resources are listed below.
Self-Injury Resources:
Books:
·         Cut  by Patricia McCormick
·         Cutting: Understanding and Overcoming Self-Mutilation by Steven Levenkron
·         A Bright Red Scream by Marilee Strong
Groups for Help with Self Injury
·         Safe Haven:  Online  http://gabrielle.self-injury.net/
·         Daily Strength:  online  http://www.dailystrength.org/c/Self-Injury/support-group
·         S.A.F.E Alternatives: http://www.selfinjury.com/

Visiting the resource office would enable one to open the doors to hot line numbers to national and domestic violence in U.K., U.S.A. among others. The National Domestic Violence Hotline answers more than 21,000 calls per month from victims, survivors, friends and family members, law enforcement personnel, domestic violence advocates and the general public. Hotline advocates provide support and assistance to anyone involved in a domestic violence situation, including those in same-sex relationships, male survivors, those with disabilities and immigrant victims of domestic violence. All calls to the National Domestic Violence Hotline are anonymous and confidential.
How does the Hotline Services work? According to the Project Hope Island Resources, these are the following pointers.

·         Crisis intervention, safety planning, information about domestic violence and referrals to local service providers
·         A direct connection to domestic violence resources available in the caller’s area provided by a Hotline advocate

·         Assistance in both English and Spanish with Hotline advocates having access to more than 170 different languages through interpreter services
·         Assistance through e-mail on the contact page
·         Informational materials on such topics as domestic violence, sexual assault, battering intervention and prevention programs, working through the criminal justice system and related issues

The list doesn’t exhaust here, Terminal Illness Resources, Suicide prevention and survivor resources, Internet Resources like http://www.save.org and other books like “Step Back from the Exit: 45 Reasons to Say No to Suicide by Jillayne Arena” among others are available. Books are peer support for trans-person and their family are also available like the book written by R. Nick Gorton, MD; Jamie Buth, MD & Dean Spade (2005) on "Medical Therapy and Health Maintenance for Transgender Men: A Guide For Health Care Providers", attempts to provide the knowledge necessary to care for transmen before, during and after transition.

Domestic Violence is seen in almost any households today. Stress, peer pressure, money and power, societal norms and sometimes religions too among other stimuli pose a threat to an individual. Irrespective of a developed or a developing country, domestic violence not only includes abuse to women but also child abuse, child sexual abuse, elder abuse, rape or sexual assault to both women and men among others. This leads us to the bravest step of asking ourselves, “Am I being abused?” in the name of love and care. If yes, please don’t hesitate to ask for help from a family member, friend, relative you trust or call the help line number of your locality. There are numerous organisations fighting to stop abuse. However, the first step and the bravest one are in your hand. Project Hope Island is a community within a virtual world to offer help and support.
