LUXE Paris Haute Halloween Glamour with a Dark Edge- A report by Aria Absinthe LUXE Paris Ambassador

Halloween in Second Life is no longer just costumes and candy, it has evolved into a stage where glamour meets imagination. For those who crave sophistication with a hint of drama, LUXE Paris delivers Haute Halloween: fashionable disguises that blend mystery, elegance, and a touch of the macabre.

Think velvet gowns in midnight black, satin dresses that shimmer like moonlight, and lace details that suggest both enchantment and intrigue.

The LUXE Paris woman does not wear a “costume”, she embodies a character. Whether it’s a Demoness draped in hellish flames or Mistress of Versailles with a short layered lace skirt, every design whispers elegance first, fantasy second.

THE FINISHING SPELL

Accessories become the finishing spell.

A jeweled mask hiding just enough mystery, heels sharp as daggers, and jewelry that glitters like fallen stars... Together, they create a look that is equal parts runway and masquerade, turning a night of fright into a night of unforgettable allure.

This is Halloween elevated. With LUXE Paris, you don’t simply attend the party,  you command the room, exuding glamour with a dark edge.

Night Starz Ranch: Where All Your Nightmares Come True – Josh (Thomas1 Bellic) Reporting

Its that time of year again, when Ghouls and Goblins will roam the streets, Witches will ride Broomsticks, Zombies will search for brains to eat, and Home Depot will have a sale on Chainsaws.  It’s Halloween, the unofficial holiday where all manner of bloodthirsty imaginings will take form.  And this year there is no better place to get an early look at such things than Night Starz Ranch.  The brainchild of Katie and Trin Night, I had the frightening opportunity to see their amazing build.  Open a little over a week, already over 500 visitors have made the pilgrimage to this Sim of Horrors.  I caught up with The Nights while I was wandering the trails and pathways of their creation, and they graciously agreed to chat with me about this homage to Halloween.  But don’t take my word for it.  Read the interview below, and then go check it out for yourself.

Josh (Thomas1 Bellic) (JB):     What an amazing build.  I spent an hour there the other night and I STILL and didn’t see everything.  Just how big is Night Stars Ranch anyway?

Trin Night (trinittynight) (TN):     Yes, it is a lot to see. It's a full sim, with one main trail till you get near the end then it breaks off into 4 different trails.  But there are side areas to see, like The Burning Church, and the Circus. Just walk around and enjoy yourself. If you get lost, find a Police Officer or when we find you, we will just add you to the build.

Katie Night (katiestarz) (KN):     Wow.  There are LOTS of fun things to see.  This Halloween build is a full sim, so be sure to check out all the different paths. Just follow the arrows.

JB:     Lots of work is evident here.  Did you guys do this all on your own, or did you have help?

TN:     Yes, we did all the work ourselves, and with the help of ღℓiℓ Star Pøøтεя ღ (star.schoonhoven) putting out stuff to use. And our Sponsor: Giano Properties / www.Giano Properties.com.  That has helped us a LOT. We really do appreciate their support.

KN:     Yes.  we did the builds. My lil God daughter ღℓiℓ Star Pøøтεя ღ (star.schoonhoven)  helped some with the individual scenes by putting things out for us to use because she loves Halloween too.

JB:     This must have taken months and months to design, purchase the components, and put the thing together so that it flows seamlessly.  How long have you been working on this?

TN:     I have been putting things together for a year now. After our last Halloween Party, I began buying things and getting Ideas in my head, and then I built it and put it together. I have been “Halloween Crazy” all year. I don’t think that will EVER stop. lol.

KN:     We both LOVE Halloween so we’ve been buying things for years, and we just put all of our stuff out together and worked on it that way.

JB:     I saw signs for a big event on October 30th.  What can you tell us about that?

TN:     Yes! We are having a Halloween Party. This will be our second year doing one of these. Our first party was a BIG hit with our friends and family. So, I had to do it even BIGGER this year. This year we will have DJ Jake and Host Katie at the Star Castle for a 2- hour set. We’d like for anyone to come and come in costume and have fun.

KN:     I am SO excited for our BIG event on the 30th! DJ Jake will be spinning the tunes for our Halloween party, while I get to do one of my favorite things in SL….Host Parties!

JB:     So, tell me, are you two big fans of the horror movie genre, because it is certainly evident in your work? Were there any movie-inspired builds in particular?

KN:     Trin does love horror movies.   I have never seen one myself.  Lol.  But he did an amazing job on the builds.  I am more into cutesy Halloween stuff.  Lol.  So you’ll see my contributions at the end of the trail.

TN:     Yes I'm a big Horror fan!   Katie, not so much lol. I love horror movies and yes, there are some movies that have inspired me and I have put into my builds.  Movies like Halloween, Friday the 13th, IT (Penny Wise), Scream, Zombie movies, Silent Hill, and many, many more.

JB:     What a fun place! How did you decide to do such an extensive build that will be used just for the Halloween Season?

TN:     Yes, it is a fun place and I hope that everyone comes and enjoys it like I do. And it is funny, but last year everyone loved our Halloween party so I told everyone that I would make it bigger and better so that’s what I did for THIS year. I hope to keep this going every year from now on. I have started making an Asylum Ride that may be done before Halloween is over. If not, it will be in Next Year’s Build for sure.

KN:     Last year we did a much smaller build for our family and friends to enjoy.  We thought this year we would go bigger and see how it goes.  It has gone much better than I ever expected.

JB:     Near the end of the journey is an expansive castle with a BIG dance floor. Just how many dancers can you hold up there before you reach a Fire Code Violation?

TN:     I hope the Zombies get the Fire Marshal before he can get to the castle. But we can handle 100 on the dance pads, and we will also have an INTAN for couples and singles. The sim can only hold 100 Max, but I sure do wish it could hold more.  lol.

KN:     Well, we have a 100-dance pad system and will have an INTAN as well, so, hopefully, we will be good with no fire code violations lol.  Besides.  I imagine the Fire marshals will be kept busy with the fires they encounter on their way up to the castle and won’t even bother us up there.

JB:     I see you have an orphanage.  I am not certain, but it may need a bit of work if you want to keep your certification with the National Orphanage Association. What was the inspiration for that?

TN:     Yes, our orphanage is a little rundown. It ran out of money and souls. Now it is a place of the past and the ghosts of little children roam the grounds and they do their schoolwork sitting at the desks, never to rest again. I watch a lot of ghost shows on TV and I’ve seen the Ghost Hunters at the orphanage and they are scary!  So, I wanted to build one also.  I think it came out pretty good if I do say so myself.

KN:     WOW.  It had so many creepy dolls & stuff , it was scary being built but Trin did a great job with it.

JB:     I understand you may be putting together an event to be held prior to the Oct 30 Bash.  Can you tell us about that?

TN:     We’re trying to plan a Masquerade Party.  We’re still working on that, but we are hoping to have it worked out soon, so there will be more information available on that later. We will post it on our Facebook Page.

JB:     Do you have any Social Media Sites connected to your build or Groups?

TN:     Yes.  Check us out:

·         Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/NightStarzRanchEvents/

·         SURL: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Enchanted%20Dust/228/246/22

There you can see all the events we do, and it's not just for Halloween. We do lots of other parties and events throughout the year as well.

KN:     We also have personal FLICKR and PRIMFEED pages as well

JB:     Is there anything else you would like to share with our SL Enquirer readers

TN:     I'd like to thank everyone who has helped. And to all the Visitors that have come so far, and to the Visitors yet to come. We here at Night Starz Ranch would like to say Thank You for coming and for your support. We hope you have the best Halloween season and have fun and be safe.

KN:     Please come by and take photos and enjoy the sim with us.  We also have a game room up on top of the castle - just follow the stairs up to it...and enjoy your time here at Night Starz Ranch Horror Nights.

So, there you have it folks. Straight from the specter’s…uhh...I mean…straight from the creator's mouths.  So, head on over to Night Starz Ranch Horror Nights.  You’ll be glad you did.  And when you do, tell ‘em Josh sent ya.  You’ll be glad ya did.

Be there!  ALOHA!

SL’s Top Haunted Locations & Tours - GiaBlossom reporting

There are hardly a few days to go until October 31st to pass by this year. We don’t want to miss the special places decorated by landscapers all over the grid. My first search was to find a few locations suggested by travelers, landscape photographers, bloggers, and vloggers. For this I found a Facebook group, called Public Landscapes; so I went around exploring and clicking a few sneak peek pictures of my own.

The first place I sorted for you is called, “Der Spooky Haunted Halloween Island” suggested by Kayla Woodrunner. You can visit the Landmark-  http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Nykus/186/245/21 We enter after our helicopter crashes into a small island off the maps. The quiet environment spooks you till you cross a horde of zombies coming at you. A merry-go-round that brings about the evil inner child. A toxic pathway leads to burning moving skeletons.

The second place has a horror and autumn vibe to it. It will be much more fun if you visit with your family. The place was suggested by Susann DeCuir. It’s called “LeLoo’s World Boo-Fest”. Landmark - http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Friends/31/140/32 We step into the market of Halloween goodies, you can buy some for your home or your memories. As we enter, a sudden whirlpool of autumn breezes through the cornfields. You feel the err in the atmosphere when the scare happens. Ghosts! As you walk, you see a witch house at the far end of the fields and some smelly soup cooking in a cauldron that makes you want to puke. But beware, a witch might end up lurking behind you.

The third place, I would suggest for you is the “All Hallows 2024” established in 2016. Maia Macabre returns this year with another haunted meandering, autumnal hoodoo, darkly roaming beings. LM - http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Moochie/170/200/23 It was suggested by Silvana F. Demina. This place should be among the top 3 on any list. We land in the middle of nowhere via a goods train. As you turn around, there are spooky shadows under the golden shades of autumn trees. As we walk the single lonely pathway In the middle of the dense jungle, it leads to an opening on a deck where an eerily individual, Alexandria Dassin is serving “Hot drinks for Cold hands” To see an actual human being zombified terrified the soul out of me. I ran further away crossing over to the little island hoping none of these zombies saw me as I reached a small church. But a shadow lurked there too and it lured me away from the place for good. This place is not for any feeble heart.

“The Haunted Halloween Tour” Landmark -

http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Haunted%20Halloween%20Tour%201/15/183/178 If you think, nothing can scare you in this life, think again. What starts as a simple tour in a coffin of two, the tour takes some sudden turns and shows the haunted stories. I could write an entire article on this location, but that would spoil all the scare for you. At a point in this tour, I had to look beyond the computer screen to realize I was not in that scary frightening world wishing this torture would end soon.

If something like an interactive group tour is something that interests you. A 500L$ Ticket (Marketplace -https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/New-Orleans-Haunted-History-Tour/26412701?)  to the Haunted History of Witchcraft & Voodoo in New Orleans is just what you are looking for. Kaiden and Pandora Tray have gone above and beyond to create this personalized tour. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Halloween Destinations in Second Life- Lanai Jarrico Reporting...

Halloween originated by the Ancient Celts with an annual pagan festival of Samhain to welcome the harvest at the end of Summer. It was celebrated with bonfires, feasting and dancing in costumes to ward off ghosts. Wiccans honored their ancestors by building altars adorned with pumpkins, apples and other fall crops. Some Wiccans added photos of deceased family members and even special baked bread to feed visiting spirits. Storytelling was also part of the rituals. Samhain was one of the 66 seals, and he was worshiped as a God.

In Central and southern Mexico, “Dia de los Muertos” is also known as “Day of the Dead”.

The festivals seem to share the same concepts as the Festival of Samhain. However, rather than mourning the dead which was seen as disrespectful. They celebrate their deceased family members' lives with bright yellow marigold flowers, food and favorite drinks of the departed.

Halloween today in America morphed into some kind of joke. Parents dressing their kids up like cartoon characters and Memes to go around knocking on doors for candy only to come home and “inspect” your kids stash and put aside your favorite candies.  For adults that still like to dress up, go to Halloween parties and get all wrecked and take an Uber home.

In Second Life, Halloween is celebrated by a Global community to bring in their own special traditions for others to enjoy. Here are some locations in Second Life where you can experience Halloween in the comfort of your own home and go clubbing, check out some concerts, decorate your crib or go shopping for that perfect costume. Corn Maze! Stacey Cardalines Reporting...

I grew up in a suburban part of New England, and a major rite of Autumn was to go to a corn maze.

Autumn is unique in that there is no major participatory holiday like the 4th of July or Christmas between Labor Day and Halloween. Many people therefore use Autumn as a sort of minor, extended celebration that ranges from pumpkin patches to apple cider donuts to hay rides. This gets them through the end of October, where they can hang ghouls off the house and dress like a Scary Nurse.

The town I grew up in was not immune to this, so every year would see a bunch of us- sometimes drunk- head out into the farm country to wander through a corn maze. I only say "sometimes drunk" because I was both doing mazes as a child (not drinking) or taking the kids to it (drinking after), which balances out my teens, early twenties and going-with-friends part of my life where one would have to be drunk to go to one.

About half the time, we never finished the maze, backtracking our way out and vowing to whip the maze next year. This happened every time we went after drinking, and a lot of the times where the children wore out easily. I can't actually remember beating the maze, to be honest, although I suppose we probably beat it a few times as children and I just can't remember.

There are corn mazes in every county where I live, and where I live is only semi-rural. I can't imagine how many there must be in somewhere like Iowa. I recall reading that driving through there was basically "corn corn corn Walmart corn corn corn Gas Station corn corn corn Burger King corn corn corn..." They must have mazes everywhere there, and it would be cool to connect them all into an Iowa-sized maze and trap like 3% of America's population there during Tourist Season.

Corn mazes came into vogue in the 1990s, although no one knows who the first genius to try this out was. The idea sprung from the fact that you have to grow acres and acres of corn to make a profit, and the stalks have to be cut down after. Some great human figured out how to make a maze from this, people showed their interest with their pocketbooks and a new tradition emerged. Many farms rely on this part of the year to stay in the black.

With the bleedover into Halloween season, many mazes are also "haunted," and feature various goblins and serial killers. At least one horror movie- Chlidren Of The Corn- is set in a cornfield, and I am probably forgetting others. A corn maze is closely related to a hedge maze, and even an amateurish corn maze somehow looks creepier than the hedge maze at the end of The Shining. That's not easy to do.

They are best as a rural thing, however. Not many people farm these days, and a corn maze is often the only time a lot of people get close to a way of life that almost everyone practiced at one time.

I went to French Farm on SL to check out a SL corn maze. I was not disappointed. The sim is wholly decked out for fall, and I plan to get several articles out of my visit there. I must have took 100 pictures. They did a really nice job with the season, and I advise you to check it out for yourself. I don't know if they are French or just named French.

Their maze is easy to navigate, and has lots of surprises. There are enough dead ends (each with something cool in it) to make it so you have to at least concentrate a bit. I only took pictures of a few things in the maze, leaving the rest for our readers to discover on their own. It doesn't take long to go through, but you can stretch that out by looking everything over real slow. There are other activities on the im to keep you busy if you make it out of the maze.

French Farm must be running this through Halloween, because they have a haunted maze, featuring various spooks and haunts and He Who Walks Behind The Rows. It's more cutesy than terrifying, and is a lot of fun either way. If they are smart, they will run it through Thanksgiving. Harvest Season sort of runs, at least in American imaginations, from the day after Labor Day until the end of November.... even late December, if you throw in Christmas tree farms

Please note that I included a picture of me finishing the maze, just in case you think I cheated my way out or anything.
