SL enhances the quality of life for people with some disabilities - Joymell Reporting...

If you ask people about what they like the most about Second Life, they will certainly have a variety of answers; however, they all share one thing in common: Second Life allows us to do amazing things and often what is impossible for most of us in real life. We can be astronauts, visit an alien world or travel back in time, or visit a place of the past. Or we can, for example, fly on a plane, dive in the ocean, go bungee jumping or even dance ballet.

The fact is that virtual reality enhances people’s lives and their possibilities. More and more advantages are being gradually discovered, and are showing great promise. Virtual reality can put pilots in training as if they were in heaven and can also provide people, including those with some forms of disability, experiences that they cannot have in the real world.

The great advantage of virtual reality is its ability to create full immersion situations, carrying people to a fully virtualized world.  In practice, what this means is that the virtual content sends stimulation so that the user perceives them through their senses. Virtual reality enables the creation of scenarios where the brain understands that mind and body are in the same sensory plane.

With virtual reality, you can go anywhere without even having to leave your bed. Many disabled people have to stay long term at home, idle. Having to go through life without being able to experience all that life has to offer. In Second Life virtual world, a person is able to, for example, experience (virtually speaking) the outdoors, cycling, surfing or walking on the beach. The fact that the brain perceives and processes the stimulus as "real" enables numerous applications. Researchers are increasingly seeing the therapeutic potential of interaction "Brain - virtual world".

Burn victims, for example, that suffer from excruciating and constant pain that intensifies during the treatment of wounds or during physical therapy. To help them relieve this pain, a virtual game where the player must throw snowballs at penguins, congesting pathways responsible for the sense of pain was created. In some cases this therapy has had better results than that of morphine.

Many other experiments have been done with the application of virtual reality.  In this virtual world we can forget our pain and give freedom to our imagination and fantasies.  In this world, people with disabilities can also have wings and fly, which can contribute to fun moments of relaxation and leisure.

Virtual Ability region provides a customized resident orientation center targeted at people with RL disabilities, helping bring people with a wide range of disabilities into Second Life, and provides them with a supporting environment:

Account Security: What precautions can you take to prevent phishing in Second Life? - Joymell Reporting...

On the Internet there are many scammers who practice "phishing": These people use different methods, for example, they create fake emails and websites that resemble those of a legitimate company to get information from people in an illegal way.

Residents of Second Life can also be targeted for phishing attempts. These attempts may include, in the virtual world, instant messaging and e-mails that try to appear as if they were sent from Linden Lab and also messages in group chat, providing a link and / or requesting personal information and credentials of account users.

Many innocent people can be deceived and become victims to provide personal information such as passwords, credit card information, etc. People who access and provide information to these forms and fake websites can quickly become identity theft victims. These victims may have their information deleted in the virtual world and the account blocked or closed by Linden Lab.

With a few simple precautions, however, it is possible to protect yourself from phishing attempts.

- Keep your antivirus software up-to-date and virus scan regularly;

- Your password should contain letters and symbols to hinder access to phishers;

- To make your account safe, change your password frequently. If you suspect you have clicked on a phishing link, change your password immediately;

- Never click a link in an email that you are unsure about, especially if it is asking for personal or account information. If you suspect is suspicious email, forward it to phishing@secondlife.com and delete it.

- Suspicious e-mails that ask for personal information are fake emails. Those will ask for your personally identifiable information such as your login name, password, and real name, among others. Be aware that any email that asks for personal information, or includes a form to fill in the email, it is very likely to be a fake email;

- Never trust an email just because it says it is secondlife.com or lindenlab.com. The Linden Lab E-mails do not include attachments. Attachments can be malicious files that cannot be captured by virus detection programs. Finally, please note that Linden Lab never asks for your password Second Life, the details of the credit card or other personal information by e-mail;

- If you receive any email from Linden Lab and have any doubts about whether this email is real, close all Web browser windows. Visit http://secondlife.com, and perform the action that was requested, starting this window new web browser.

Even after taking all these precautions, you still feel that your account has been compromised, contact Second Life Billing through the Support Portal immediately or call the number provided on the same Portal.

The Escort/Prostitute Scene in Second Life - Joymell Reporting…

Most people think that an escort and a prostitute are one and the same. You may think  it’s just semantics, but being an escort is a service provided by beautiful women and handsome men who are hired for entertainment purposes, and a prostitute is specifically more for fulfilling sexual desires .

There are many adult SIMS  in Second Life, with adult entertainment keeping traffic numbers up  in many parts of the virtual world. These sims generate resources which have inspired some of the most prominent businesses in SL.  They generate numerous jobs for residents such as DJs, dancers, hosts, escorts and prostitutes…

Many places offer what they term escort services, but they are really pimp services for prostitutes. The avatar who is interested in acquiring these kinds of services just simply go to the club, choose the escort (prostitute) they would like and they pay for his/her services. However, it is not cheap entertainment. On average, prices are approximately 2000 Linden $ for 20 minutes. Prices might vary depending on the club. Upgraded mesh avatars have higher escort (prostitute) rates due to their fine appearance.

The nagging question is, why if there are so many free opportunities for an avatar’s entertainment, why said avatar would choose to pay for an escort/prostitute service in Second Life? My curiosity made me investigate the prostitution scene in our virtual world.

I spoke to a couple of avatars who actually have been (or still are) customers of the clubs/agencies which offer these services.  I discovered that, in general, these people do not have much time to spend online in Second Life. Therefore, they do not have the time to flirt with others or maintain romantic conversations to try to win the other’s hearts for a few moments of virtual fun. On the other hand, an escort/prostitute is always available to negotiate and have fun with.

Another attraction that this kind of job has and which customers rely on, is that the escorts/prostitutes are very professional and experts in providing customers any kind of service related to sex and other more specialised ones such as BDSM, lesbian practices or any other kinky stuff or fantasy or fetish that can be thought of.  The only thing you’d need to do is ask the escort/prostitute and she or he will gladly do whatever to fulfill any of your needs without judging you for it.

Clubs have many customers who are willing to spend a lot of Lindens in exchange for quality services.

This is obviously not everyone’s cup of tea.  In talking to some of those who believe that adult services for fun aren’t their thing, I discovered that they believe that escorts/prostitutes are not working for their own fun but only to take advantage of other people’s weaknesses, desires and emotions in exchange for money.

Clearly these services on not for those looking for romance. This group of people are looking for virtual love, more like a fairy tale, and maybe something that could come true.

Regardless, the escort/prostitute girls and guys are very successful in this virtual speaking.  Many consider this practice as one of then ways to have fun without commitment, and that Second Life and clubs in it offer a variety of services to those interested in alternative employment opportunities.

As for inworld jobs, you can find a great deal for escort/prostitute service providers. The biggest deals are for sexy girls but also you can find jobs for men. In general, clubs ask for the following requirements:

- The avatar to be 30 days old or more
- The avatar must be over 18 years in real life
- The avatar should have a slink, mesh body, as well as hands and feet.
- The avatar must be voice verified (some clubs ask for it)

f you’re curious and want to know more about this and other adult content activities available, visit the Adult-rated areas (providing that you’re 18 or older.)
