2020 Out Shop Cancer Now Open

October 1 to October 31, 2020

An American Cancer Society in SL Strides Campaign Fundraising Event

It is time to grab your L$ and start shopping for a cause! The 3rd annual Out Shop Cancer event returns to Second Life featuring more merchants and more ways for residents to support Making Strides and the American Cancer Society.

Since 2018, Out Shop Cancer has been a grid-wide shopping event that brought residents to participating merchant stores. Merchants designate specific items that will be sold as a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society’s breast cancer programs and services. Each year has seen an increase in the number of merchants and designers joining the fight against breast cancer.

Continuing for the 2020 season is Out Shop Cancer: Marketplace. This allows designers without in-world locations to take part as well!

And brand new for this year we have partnered with the Heathens Court Event, which includes more than 20 additional shopping opportunities to support Making Strides all in one location.
But there’s still more! Also for the 2020 Out Shop Cancer event we have the Wythburn Art Walk with over 20 participating artists, hosted by Sethos Wythburn of Wythburn Fine Furniture. Residents are invited to stroll or ride the paths from the village that lead up to the Raven Craig Art Center. The path is lined with art for sale.

Additionally, there have been special items donated to be raffled during the month. These include two Mega Shopping Spree Raffles each valued over L$15,000, a girl animesh baby and a boy animesh baby from Suki Baby, a custom 1968 Nova from Taz’s Customs, a 2019 Demon SRT from Bad Bunny’s Customs and more.

A full Store directory including some Marketplace specials, full details about the Wythburn Art Walk and other highlights are available at outshopcancersecondlife.com or you can pick up a notecard listing in-world of participating locations and to check out the current raffles at the Out Shop Cancer office here,  http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Calabria/103/194/21.

Fight Breast Cancer with Strides Campaigns

It’s almost October - have you considered fighting breast cancer through your Second Life? The American Cancer Society is the global leader in the fight against all cancers, including breast cancer; and new fundraising tools are now available for anyone and everyone to show their support.

Fundraising tools are free and can be found on the Second Life Marketplace or by going to the Strides office on the American Cancer Society island.

The Strides Campaigns season is filling up with activities in several communities across the grid, but there can never be too many ways to fight breast cancer until we find the cure! Donations help fund initiatives including the Reach To Recovery program, a peer to peer program that matches trained breast cancer survivors with those recently diagnosed; raising awareness of the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and screenings; and funding research for better treatments and earlier diagnosis.

Therefore, we’re inviting as many communities across Second Life to take action now!

If you would like to plan your own breast cancer fundraiser, you’re encouraged to work within your community or group in Second Life to organize your own Strides Campaign. Make sure to let the American Cancer Society know about it by completing the ACS Calendar Event Submission Form so we can share it with others.

All Strides Campaigns must use the official Strides fundraising tools that are provided by the American Cancer Society. Fundraising campaigns may include events, hunts, shows, sales, or simply putting out a donation kiosk at your club or store throughout the month of October.

If you want to fight breast cancer, but aren’t able to organize your own campaign, you can get involved with existing campaigns listed in the ACS in SL Events Calendar

ONE OF A KIND LUXURY HOUSE/CLUB TO BE AUCTIONED FOR MSABC in SL- Friday, Oct. 26

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Across Second Life is pleased to present an ultimate luxury home for auction, with all of the proceeds going toward raising funds for breast cancer research.

“We are thrilled that a top designer has chosen to come alongside MSABC to help us make a difference with this unique opportunity,” says Leala Spire, Strides co-lead. “The quality of the build is exquisite. One lucky homeowner will have an ultimate luxury retreat that includes everything, even down to potholders in the kitchen.”

AXL Pro Design has donated their Technozen Acqua House Furnished Easy, priced at L$79,999, for the auction. Creator Slash Hansome has put everything you could possibly think of when it comes to luxe living in this house and club, and Spire encourages shoppers to explore the house, which will be on display starting on Oct 1.

With a footprint of 128 meters by 128 meters and 4,899 prim, the one-of-a-kind modernist home boasts 93 adult menus, which means there are thousands of possible adult animations.

This new Japanese-inspired house has 4 bedrooms, a bar and lounge, private cinema, jacuzzi room, sauna, gym, three lounges, a kitchen, dining room, office, billiard lounge, a garage, two living rooms, balconies, an elevator and a piano lounge -- all with adult animations. This house has it all, even down to a security camera system, dishes in the cupboard and fully stocked refrigerators and bars! And, for the bold of spirit, there are even two secret rooms waiting to be found.

The outside is completely landscaped and features an adult swimming pool, dock, gardens, patio, parking, a club and helipad. You can even take a walk along its cliff side and discover a natural trail and scenic overlook. For a sneak preview, check out the photo gallery of the house on Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/gp/160579805@N03/vsX30s

You can tour this house starting Oct. 1 through Oct 26. on the Parade of Homes Tour.  Tour HUDs will be available at the Strides office, located on American Cancer Society Island starting Oct. 1: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/American%20Cancer%20Society/192/197/23

While touring the home, get your landmark and details on the Auction Party being held on Friday, Oct. 26 and all the info on how you can place your bid.
