SMR Events hosts SL’s first Annual Movember® Fundraising Campaign for Charity.“Movember® 2020”.

The Ultimate Goal is to raise funds and awareness during the month of November, via our fundraising drive and various interactive campaigns/events in support of the Movember® Foundation~  the leading charity changing the face of men’s health~

 The Campaign Spans the entire month of November and features; an Online Fundraiser via FB, a GRID-WIDE Fundraising Drive with Supporting Events, the ‘Grow for a Cure’ Moustache/Beard Growth Challenge & Photo Campaign, The Welcome to Movember® Men's Health Fair, and a Black Tie Charity Ball to wrap the Campaign.

Together with our Partners, Community, Friends, and Family, we are on a Movember Mission doing what we can to help men live happier, healthier, longer lives.

SMR Events, an Event Planning & Production company was started in 2013 by three prominent women of talent and focus, who wanted to bring their ten plus years of skills and expertise to the SL Community with a focus on benefiting others. Movember® and The Movember Foundation®

Movember® is an annual event involving the growing of mustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men's health issues. Using the mustache as the driving symbol of the movement, Movember focuses on the three key areas of prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health & suicide prevention.

The Movember Foundation runs the Movember charity event,  housed at Movember.com and has been running Movember events since 2004.

The goal: “To Change the Face of Men's Health."

By encouraging men (whom the charity refers to as "Mo Bros") to get involved, Movember aims to increase early cancer detection, diagnosis and effective treatments, and ultimately reduce the number of preventable deaths in men. Besides annual check-ups, the Movember Foundation encourages men to be aware of family history of cancer and to adopt a healthier lifestyle. Since inception, the Movember Foundation has raised $837 million and funded over 1,200 projects in more than 20 countries.

Auction House Party on Oct. 26 for MSABC



A luxury home will be the centerpiece of an auction party from 3 to 5 p.m. SLT Friday, Oct. 26 to benefit cancer research through the American Cancer Society and MSABC across SL.

This one-of-a-kind luxury home comes fully furnished and landscaped with a full club, pool, dock, helipad and more! See the details of it here:

Tour the house, then place your bid! Entertainment will be provided by DJ Nuala Maracas of T1 Radio.

At the party, all bidding will be in posted in open chat and the starting bid will be the current highest silent bid. Highest Bidder at end of event will be asked to pay the Strides Kiosk to receive their home.

All proceeds collected during the Strides Parade of Homes in Second Life and the night of the Auction Party will go directly to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and the American Cancer Society.

Each year, more than a million passionate women, men, and children participate in Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation. The events unite communities by honoring those affected by the disease and raising money to reduce the burden of breast cancer.  Dollars raised through Making Strides Against Breast Cancer help the American Cancer Society fund innovative breast cancer research; provide education and guidance to help people reduce their risk; and offer comprehensive patient support to those who need it most so that no one facing breast cancer ever has to walk alone.

Coachella Second Life – A Benefit Event For Hurricane Harvey Victims Sept 8th- 10th

On August 25, 2017 Hurricane Harvey roared into Houston Texas and also affected South West Louisiana leaving many dead and thousands homeless with nothing more than the clothes on their back due to the massive flooding which continues today. The magnitude of the storms aftermath is unprecedented.  Break Beatz Entertainment and ATOL Ent. have initiated a response to the disaster by producing an entertainment event and fundraiser to support those most in need affected by the storm.    We are bringing Coachella Second Life to the grid.

Coachella Second Life is a three day event from September 8 to the 10th which will be held in an impressive desert environment, and include live singers/entertainers, deejay’s, performers, and dancers from different musical genres.  A line up of twenty seven singers and deejay’s will perform on stage for this three day event not including the dancers set to perform alongside them.  100% of proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross and Save The Children charities for those in the affected areas of the storm and floods.  Tickets for the three day event are now on sale on Marketplace where you can also choose booth rentals for organizations, as well as tents and RV’s set up on the grounds of Coachella for party goers.https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/183053

3rd Annual "No Kid Hungry" for Thanksgiving Drive



Did you know that more than 16 million children in America – one in five – struggle with hunger?  

Not only does this fact touch our spirits, but with the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, filled with FAMILY, FRIENDS and FOOD, it is imperative that this season, no kid goes hungry. So, we decided to take action once again and join the battle against child hunger in America this Thanksgiving.

Tuesday, November 1, 2016 we launched our 3rd Annual "No Kid Hungry" for Thanksgiving Drive. Our goal is to raise funds to support the Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry® campaign, whose focus is on ending child hunger.  We invite you to join us in support of the campaign that connects kids with nutritious food to lead healthy active lives.  No child should ever go hungry and we want to help make that happen. Strides season is about to kick off!


AUG. 30 -- The 2016 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer (MSABC) Across Second Life season is about to kick off and we invite you to join with us!

This year’s theme is  “Blossoms of Hope” runs through Nov. 4, 2016

"This year's Making Strides theme is "Blossoms of Hope," said Co-Chair Sandie Loxingly.  "We chose this theme to represent the seeds of hope that every person affected by cancer carries with them. Through our efforts in supporting Making Strides, we nurture these seeds and they blossom into a world with hope of a world of better treatments, early diagnosis and less loss from breast cancer."

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Across Second Life raises money for The American Cancer Society and is part of Relay For Life of Second Life.

October 23 Opening of the Blossoms of Hope Showcase
October 29 Strides Walk starts at 10 a.m. SLT

An exciting change for this year’s Strides walk is that we would like the walkers to reach out to their friends in SL and if you like real life to get sponsors for your walk.   The sponsors would agree that for every lap you walk they will pay a certain amount  to you as a donation.  The more sponsors you have the more you can raise for MSABC! Special awards will be given to top fundraisers.

About Breast Cancer:
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States, other than skin cancer. It is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, after lung cancer.
The chance of a woman having invasive breast cancer some time during her life is about 1 in 8. The chance of dying from breast cancer is about 1 in 36. Breast cancer death rates have been going down. This is probably the result of finding the cancer earlier and better treatment. Right now there are more than 2.8 million breast cancer survivors in the United States.
The American Cancer Society estimates for breast cancer in men in the United States for 2016 are:
About 2,600 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed
About 440 men will die from breast cancer
Breast cancer is about 100 times less common among men than among women. For men, the lifetime risk of getting breast cancer is about 1 in 1,000. The number of breast cancer cases in men relative to the population has been fairly stable over the last 30 years.
