Interview with Cupid 2021- Lanai Jarrico Reporting...

It’s that time of year again when love is in the air and Cupid is hard at work matchmaking across the grid. Every year the torch is passed to a new and improved Valentine’s Day mascot because it seems the previous ones go into retirement or disappear without a trace due to the groupies after his heart. So it was always a mission finding Cupid but this year he seemed to fall into my lap. I came across Cupid 2021 while out and about shopping for a pair of shoes, looked over and saw something stuck in the bushes so I went over to investigate.

Lanai: Hey there. Do you need a hand?

Cupid 2021:Huh? No, I don’t need any help at all, I mean to crash umm land down here I am incognito you know. Looking for people that need my help in the matching of the loves.

 *ruffling around in the bushes*

Lanai: Well... I find it pretty creepy that you are snooping around this shoe outlet. Do you think you will find a lot of singles around here to play matchmaker to?

*helps him out the bushes*

Cupid2021: *coughs* observing, not snooping ok?! Well history shows there are usually a lot of men seeking a match in a place like this. It is a known hang out for women filling their time instead of finding men. And it is my job to assist them along with the process.

Lanai: Yea…. Men with foot fetishes maybe.  Wait… Is that you Orion?  I thought you were on a business trip! That outfit certainty does not look like a suit!

Cupid 2021: Hmmm oh hi Lanai! Fancy meeting you here. And hey, what you might not call a conventional suit, they do say this is the suit for the job. Come on you love the wings don’t you? So, I was tasked this year to help a lot of people find love and find their soulmate or at least one for a good long weekend.

Lanai: The wings work with that outfit just not with a halo... Your reputation in SL is’t that great, especially in the music scene.  Anyways... I can respect that you want to do “charity work” in Second Life, but taking on being Cupid this year to stalk women at shoe stores? What exactly do you intend to do with those magic arrows?

Cupid 2021: First of all, as for my reputation, well you know how I feel about pixels um I mean people and what they think of me or us or our business, so it matters not to me. And again for the record, I am not stalking. This is a job I am taking very seriously. These arrows help people find their true love. It reveals it to them. Or…. It makes them utterly stupid and fall for the first person that comes along. Either way people get lucky for a bit. And not only that! How cool is it that I get to shoot people with arrows and not get arrested?!!?

Lanai: Fine come with me as I shop for some shoes.  Your job is literally being a pain in the ass.. So let's get down to the reason for the season and the definition of love from your point of view?

Cupid 2021: Well yes, I mainly shoot in the ass, there is most of the meat, especially with those curvy anatomically incorrect avies aka “KFCs”. But love to me, well combine, happiness, sadness, frustration, joy, sweet, dread and then add in a lot of confusion and there you have love.

Lanai: Interesting…. Well SL Statistics show 62% of SL couples don't make it from one Valentine’s Day to the next, 25% have side pieces that seem to balance things out, 12% actually make it past 1 year and the remaining 1%... take it to Real life and live their happily ever after. Now that you are crowned the expert of Love; Mr. Cupid….With these statistics all laid out what advice can you give couples dabbling in that thing called love? What makes it work and what doesn’t?

Cupid 2021: Well first off, Ladies, seriously! Spending all your time at some shoe stores isn’t going to get you the man of your dreams unless that is he sells shoes for a living. My advice for all the other people out there. Communicate and trust the one you want to be with, don’t look for the short haul, look for the long term. I know in my own experience patience and perseverance won and now I am the winner. You can find it too, just stop over thinking everything and let my arrows do their work.

Lanai: She must be a lucky lady or miserable to actually have Cupid as her man. Any advice for single men out there having a hard time with love?

Cupid 2021: Oh she gets lucky, umm I mean is lucky I will say that, damn is she lucky. As for advice for men, I don’t think here is enough time for all that, but I will give the quick cliff notes. Men… LEARN what mesh is, you are in SL looking for love, not looking for a hookup behind the Dollar Tree?!!? Moving forward just stop acting broke or being a jackass. For the men who want their cake and a muffin on the side, sometimes you have a great woman right there in front of you but you still want to poke their “arrows” in others. STOP IT. Just STOP IT. Appreciate what you have and if you don’t have one, TRY harder, don’t expect one to fall from the sky. I am shooting them from the ground not while they are flying overhead. Stop looking up for them and look in some hearts.

Lanai: I guess that's good advice.. So for those who are already in a relationship, trouple, swinging or whatever, What kind of ways can they celebrate Valentine’s day?

Cupid 2021:Well that is a good question, and has a lot of different answers for many. Some say staying at home watching some Netflix together is great. Me I rather just blow my wad on some flowers, chocolates,  great fine wine and dining, maybe some dancing then home for some “showing her how I love her” if you know what I mean?! But the main thing no matter what you do is to show your significant other that you love them and they mean the world to you. And well, if you aren’t that kind of romantic person you can just always take her shoe shopping!

Lanai: That’s good advice Cupid! You actually do have a sweet side.  BTW what do you think of my shoes?

Cupid 2021: Well thank you! But let’s keep that between us for now ok? And regarding your shoes, you do have good taste but I think you can do a little better. Stop buying bargain bin shoes.

Lanai: o.O

And there you have it shootin’ straight from Cupid. Cheers xoxo :)

Happy Valentine’s Day SLE fans!

Interview with ᴛᴇᴍᴘᴇsᴛ ʀᴏsᴄᴀ-ʜᴜɴᴛsᴍᴀɴ (tempest.rosca)

SLE: Hi Tempest, it is a pleasure to interview you about the Resolution Exhibition. Before we get into the collection of art being showcased, I’d like to learn a little bit about you. What brought you to Second Life?

Tempest:  Hello Lanai ! Thank you so much and it's wonderful to hear from you!  What brought me to SL?  Well, it was a super long time ago, back in May 2007 when I received an email from Sky News asking if I would be interested in current affairs and new stories within a virtual world!  I'm not a natural gamer, so I'm not part of the gamer culture but I thought Second Life sounded interesting and I thought I would give it ago!  I'm still here (give or take a few breaks!) so I guess you could say I liked it!

SLE: The arts and photography in SL is very popular because it allows photographers from all over the world to showcase their work on a global scale. What inspired you to get involved in the art community?

Tempest: I've exhibited with Kultivate in the past (back in 2015) and it was something I really enjoyed but my photography then took a turn and focussed predominantly on fashion/blogging which means that you are limited creativity wise as you, of course, want to show off the designers creations in the right manner.  However, when I gave up blogging back in 2019 my work started to take on much more of the creative vision I had been missing.  Being involved with Kultivate has ignited my passion for all things artistic and John has of course contributed to that, encouraging me and pushing me outside of my comfort zone - and I have to say I'm loving the challenge and this opportunity!

SLE: Aside from the arts in SL, you are also a big part of Kultivate Magazine and charities,  can you tell our readers about the events you are involved in that raise money for charity?

Tempest:  Kultivate is the official media partner for Team Diabetes of Second Life, the official and authorised team of the American Diabetes Association.  Their season will return in October and I'm looking forward to working with the charity this year, as it will be my first time participating behind the scenes with Team Diabetes!  You can learn more about Team Diabetes and their events by visiting their website:  www.teamdiabetessl.org

SLE: The Resolution Exhibition is one of monthly art installations you curate. Can you share with our readers more about this event. Do you handpick the artists you showcase?

Tempest:  Resolution has been a dream of mine for a long time - I've been running various groups within FLICKR which recognise (in my opinion) exceptional photographer/graphic talent so I've always fangurled various artists and applauded their work.  Kultivate has given me the opportunity to take that further and to bring  'Resolution' exhibition to showcase some of these exceptional creators.

SLE: Why the name Resolution Exhibition? Can you explain the theme?

Tempest: There is no theme for the exhibition at all - the only request is for the exhibitors to showcase their best work and whilst we encourage new items it's not a necessity.  The Resolution name came from the photography aspect, as a keen photographer in real, I thought this would be a suitable name for exhibition.  Formal definition is: - Image resolution is the detail an image holds. The term applies to raster digital images, film images, and other types of images.

SLE: Can you give us a scoop on the next events to come?

Tempest: Whilst the summer is quieter for Kultivate, we still look to give opportunities to artists at our galleries across the sims so it's best to keep watch on the calendar on the web site under the 'Upcoming Events'  : https://kultivatemagazine.com/about/  .   Of course we have Team Diabetes starting in October mentioned above.  To keep with the British theme and our love of beer!, we also have a  pub and new gallery called "The Mad Mare and Dene Art Gallery" where we showcase artists in the pub each month.  However, we have live music every Monday at 3pm slt and DJ set/trivia at 4pm slt and on Wednesdays DJ/trivia from 4pm to 6pm slt.  So come and join us!!  It's so much fun :)  - more info here:  https://kultivatemagazine.com/mad-mare-pub-dene-art-gallery/

SLE: How can artists and photographers get involved in your monthly events?

Tempest:  We love new talent and would encourage anyone who's interested in Kultivate or any of our galleries to take a look at the website for opportunities https://kultivatemagazine.com/artist-opportunities/  .  We have many events, especially at the The Mad Mare Pub, so we would love to welcome everyone to come visit and hang out with us.  It's so much fun and we're a friendly bunch !!   However, if anyone would love to know more about opportunities then feel free to drop us IM/NC or message us on facebook.

SLE: Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?

Tempest: Art is different for everyone, I realise that now more than ever.  We all see things differently, we all like different things, we can all relate to pieces of work in different ways. Kultivate and the team there work tirelessly to create something special for the SL art community and, whilst I'm very new into the fray of the art world here and coming from a flickr/blogging/fashion background, I completely adore the people that surround me in this world.  Everyone I've met has made me so very welcome and I just adore being part of this community.  Of course, none of this would be possible without John's backing and encouragement - I have so much to thank him for, especially for introducing me to this wonder world - I look forward to what the future may hold !

Teleport to the Resolution Exhibition
July 10th-12th

SPOTLIGHT ON BIOLOGY CLUB- A Multi-Genre Experience- Lanai Jarrico Reporting…

“Equipped with his five senses, man explores the universe around him and calls the adventure Science.” - Edwin Powell Hubble

Scientists like Edwin Powel Hubble, Charles Darwin, Albert Einstein, Nicola Tesla, and other great minds throughout history helped shape our world with their findings. Science in all forms of study provides us with a greater understanding of the world around us.

The very essence of science begins with biology. It is the study of all living organisms. Plants, animals, physiology, and behavior are what it is to be alive. Second life is the perfect social experiment that thrives on human behavior. It allows us to experience things to which we may not have physical access.  As a virtual world community, we have certainly evolved bringing together technology and life with a virtually realistic perspective.

For all you wisdom explorers out there we have a special treat for you! Biology Club is a multi-leveled venue with many areas into which to delve. Dresi Ligati (dresella.joubert) is the mastermind behind Biology Club and with her team, Brit Kitora (holly65) and Solgazer Kitora (solgazer.sittingbull), they are skilled professionals in their field of expertise.

Much of the inspiration for this venue comes from Dresi’s background as a science teacher. Her love of education combined with over a decade of experience in Second Life inspired this multi-genre marvel. This isn’t her first venue by any stretch. She has also created venues that took visitors back to the prohibition era and to the ice age with dinosaurs.

Like Science, Dresi and her team are always evolving. Recently, SLE met up with Dresi, Solgazer, and Brit to learn more about the Biology Club, who they are, and what they do.

SLE: How did you ladies discover Second Life and come to work together?

Dresi: I got into SL because my RL sister was in world and she brought me in here.  Interestingly, after she brought me in, she was interested in things that were of no interest to me.  So, I took a different path.  I started working in clubs.  Along my journey, I came to know Brit and Sol.  Brit and I started working together when, on New Year's Eve about 7 years ago, she came into one of my clubs (Safari Club) because she was curious about the name and what kind of a club it might be.   She liked the vibe of the place. The next time she visited, she filled out an application.  I asked her to do an audition after my set.  Her favorite story is that the next thing she knew, I was telling everyone in the club that I had a surprise - that DJ Brit would be playing right after me!  LOL  She did, she was great, and the rest is history.  She's my daughter and I can tell you that this feeling goes way beyond SecondLife.

Brit:  My RL sister played in SL all the time.  She came to stay with me and got me into it.  I played for about a week and got tired of it and then came back sometime later and then stayed. Sol and I met at a club, she took a picture of me to send to her sister.  Then, Sol was helping someone set up some events and I had been working with Dresi and we were doing some events as well.  So I went to one of their events and Sol was there.  She and I became friends and after some time Sol and I started dating each other and over time we got married.

Solgazer:   I actually was playing Sims Online, so when that was no longer available one of the options was Second Life!  I’ve been here ever since.

SLE:  Tell our readers more about your experience with clubs in SL? What other venues have you designed separately and or together and what has drawn you to be in the entertainment business?

Dresi:  I kind of got into the entertainment business in sort of a backward way.  As I mentioned above, my interests in SL led me into hosting at a club where a friend, Rebelheart Sabra, was the GM. I learned to host and then she asked me to open a club with her. Unfortunately, she soon had to leave SL due to health problems and I was left to figure out club ownership on my own.  As a struggling newbie with a club, I was fortunate enough to have met Dave Gran who picked up where Rebel left off and taught me a how to operate a club and how to get into DJing.  I started DJing out of a need to have a backup DJ at my club.  Turns out, that's become a true passion of mine.

Over the years, I have owned several clubs individually and in partnerships - Heavenly Bodiez/Heavenly Destinations was my first club with Rebel.  Next, I had Xtinction, Prohibition – owned with two other friends, Safari Club, and now, Biology Club.

Brit: At 45 days old, I had a club.  I had met someone named Kelynn who was my first friend in SL.  She worked at a club and the boss of that club had a second club called Mingles and asked me if I wanted to run it.  I was taught to DJ by a woman named Sophie and she was a RL DJ.  I had a lot of music to start with and she felt that I had a good sense of music and would be a good DJ.  She would give me tapes of her real DJ sets and she critiques my sets.  I helped her build a club and wound up DJing for her at her club.  Clubs owned:  Mingles, Club Dragonfly, Dragonfly on the Water, now Biology Club.
Clubs managed:  Safari Club, Sophie's Haven

Solgazer: Before I met Brit, most of my time in SL was spending time with friends dancing.  I ended up helping my SL sister with a club, Backcourt, decorating for themes and fun parties.  I also managed another small club.

SLE:   This is a pretty amazing undertaking.  Have any of you done anything like this before?

Dresi: Yes.  I’m an ideas person and so I have concocted a few thematic clubs in SL.  My first foray into the themed club approach, Prohibition, was a 1920's speakeasy.  It was co-owned by myself and two other friends.  Xtinction was a themed rock club inside a cave, complete with dino fossils and indoor waterfalls.  Next, I decided to build a club that had animals and the rainforest as its backdrop.  The idea was inspired by the RL Rainforest Cafe and the club was called, "Safari Club".  I was approached by Brit and Sol to go into a joint venture.  Since I am a science teacher by profession, Biology Club was born.

Brit: Yes, after successfully managing Safari Club with Dresi, Sol, and I decided to embark on a new adventure building and running a club called Club Dragonfly.  We began with a smaller place that we eventually outgrew and rebuilt Club Dragonfly to accommodate the need for a larger space.  Then, Sol wanted to have a club with a more intimate setting, so we built Dragonfly on the Water, a waterfront club with a rustic cozy setting.

Solgazer: When I met Brit, she was working with Dresi at Safari Club.  Once we started dating, I became more involved with understanding the DJ side of things as Brit DJs all over the grid.  Once Safari closed, Brit and I opened Club Dragonfly!   We had that for 4 years I believe, but due to some health issues, we decided to close.

SLE:  Tell us about you three individually?  What skills do you bring to the table to make this Club a success?

Dresi:  All of us come to the table with a very similar SL skill set.  We all have been in the club business for quite some time.  Sol has developed strong skills in hosting and managing hosts for many years.  Both Brit and I have been DJing for many years and we bring not only those skills but also club management and prior ownership (as does Sol).  Brit and I bring building skills to the mix and Sol is a wonderful decorator.  I also have business organizational skills in RL that I bring.

Solgazer:  We love what we do, each one of us has a different skill set.  One thing I’m not is a builder, but I love to decorate.  Brit and I have been doing monthly events for as long as we’ve had Club Dragonfly, and we work well together.  Brit gets an idea in her head of what she wants, we put that idea into play and  then I do the final “fluff stuff” as she calls it! Lol

SLE:   How did you come up with the Name, “Biology Club”?

Dresi / Brit: We wanted a way to mesh our independent passions:  Brit and Sol's love for the dragonfly and its meaning and being a RL science teacher, we could also satisfy my passion for science.  Since Biology is the study of living things, we thought it would be a way that we could mesh it all together.

Solgazer:  Dresi is a science teacher.  We had been talking about different ideas that could incorporate aspects from all our interests.  Once we started talking about biology, she knew where it was going to go from there!    She looked up the name, saw there were none with the same name, and there we have it!

SLE:   Could you share some of the events here...what the club is about?

Dresi / Brit: We are a multi-genre venue that hosts live DJ'd events and live musicians.  We are for adults only (18+).  We have 4 separate party venue sites:  The main club, a futuristic set of science labs; A poolside venue that is adjacent to a beautiful garden site for lovely photo ops; a beachfront venue with a wonderful beach bar; and the Big Event site where we host monthly events with a different theme every month.   At the moment, we are open Thursday - Saturday.  On Thursdays, we feature EDM/dance/pop music.  On this night, you will want to wear club attire and be ready to dance the night away.  Fridays are our naughty nights where explicit music is played and sexy attire is allowed, provided all bits are covered.  Saturdays, Rock music is the focus and we have some of the finest Rock DJs on the grid!  Once per month, we host a large-scale event that spans the entire weekend, from Thursday to Saturday.  It is a themed event whereby participants are encouraged to dress to the theme, making sure that they have on one piece of free club merchandise to join a contest worth Lindens and gift cards.

Solgazer:  If you think of Science, each room is a different lab.  Biology, physics and so on.  We also have Marine Biology as well.  We actually had our first monthly event on May 28th,  “Coming Out of Quarantine.”  It was a huge hit!  We’re looking forward to our next event, “The Masquerade”.  Details forthcoming.

SLE:  The grid has many nightclubs all vying for guests.  What makes Biology Club different from the other places out there?

Dresi / Brit: It is unique in its theme and its approach to multiple party sites to keep guests interested and intrigued.  It is a highly interactive venue with a lot of photo opportunities and exploration potential.

Solgazer:  It’s something that hasn’t been done before!

SLE:  Who are you hoping to attract?  What kind of clientele?

Dresi / Brit: We hope to attract people who enjoy a variety of music and are looking for a club home.  We work very hard to create a welcoming environment and we want to attract a clientele who wants a regular place to hang out that offers variety and excellent entertainment.

Solgazer:  All those who love all music! Each day is a different music genre!  Thursday is EDM/dance, Friday is Naughty Night, Saturday is Rock!

SLE:  How might someone learn more about this amazing place?

Dresi / Brit: The best way to get a feel for the energy of Biology Club is to actually visit and become a member of our "social experiment".  Potential guests can follow the SLURL below or join our Facebook page (also listed below) to keep well informed about club events.

Solgazer:  We have a Facebook page and a group that people can join.   But everyone needs to come out and see for themselves how awesome a place it is!

SLE:   Anything else you would like our readers to know about Biology Club?

Dresi / Brit: We want to make sure that everyone knows that Biology Club prides itself on providing a welcoming environment for all.   We do not discriminate on any basis whatsoever.  We are all about Love and Acceptance... and are a No Drama Zone!

Solgazer:  You really have to look around!  There is something unique in every place you look and it’s not just in the main club! There is the garden, the poolside dance area, and a gacha area.  Take a trip with the seahorses down to the beach.

PROPHESIES FOR A POST-COVID WORLD: THE “NEW NORMAL” – JOSH (THOMAS1 BELLIC) REPORTING

So...Last issue we interviewed folks from around the world, asking them how COVID-19 affects their lives today, and how they are coping with that change. We recorded perceptions and were surprised at how much we have in common with people on the far side of the world. http://www.slenquirer.com/2020/04/covid-19-real-world-virus-impacts.html

For this article, we asked 7 people, also from a global audience, to describe what they think the “New Normal” will be like AFTER the COVID-19 pandemic is brought under control.  Will we return to the same life we had prior to this crisis? Or will that be a defining moment in Earth’s history, forever changing the way we relate to each other and to our planet?   Talk a walk with me as we explore the possible long-term changes we can expect as a result of our shared experiences these last many weeks.

Those who graciously agreed to speak with us included:

sayaka Solano – Japan
eleee90 – Russia
Wakizashi Yoshikawa – Serbia
Lisisme Dubrovna – Canada
“Q” Quertina – Belgium
Zip Quandry – Australia
Molder Flatley – USA
Anonymous – USA

Josh Bellic (JB):  We have seen an increase in “Family Time” as parents and Children are staying at home.  What long-term effect will COVID-19 have on families in the future?

eleee90:  Parents will be taking more care of their children.

Wakizashi Yoshikawa: Yes, and I am not sure how disciplined children will be when parents are away

Lis: I think kids need discipline and supervision

: They get to do the things they didn't have time for for years...spend time with their family for once...even when its between 4 walls...no more rat race. Society is demanding...People live hectic lives, but not right now, as we all go back to basic.     I hope it will change the mindset of the world ...and people will value whats really important like family

Zip Quandry I think we will appreciate family and the small things they do for us much more.

JB:  How will COVID affect Education? Do you think brick and mortar Universities will become a thing of the past as students elect more and more to take their courses online?

Lis: It may affect the University system….especially considering student loans

Waki: I'm not sure about that Josh, as it would require 180 turn in education. And I don't see that kids can keep their attention as they do in brick and mortar classes

Lis: I think the kinder to high school will not change because parents have to work and they need those institutions to babysit and terach their kids while they work.  Right now is different because not even the parents can go out

Q̱: my son is 15 and cant go to school but he likes the home study.  It makes him focus better, less distraction. He has ADHA, so he is easily distracted. I wouldn’t mind if they do go to more on-line education in schools.  It solves the shortage of teachers since can tape the lessons and the students can watch those. And it solves traffic jams and kids getting into accidents, since they study at home.

Zip: More people will stay working from home, education will be highly valued (particularly for younger students whose parents have been teaching them and finding it more challenging than they ever imagined).

Molder Flatley: I think businesses and schools will become more well versed in methods of educating people without it being classroom or face to face centric.

JB:  What about Travel?  DO you think the COVID-19 travel restrictions will affect travel after the restrictions are lifted?

eleee90:  Maybe governments will take measurements early in case of a suspect virus or something like that

Waki: The issue is that when leading countries are fucked up, usually the smaller one (or under developed if you want) will suffer the most.

Lis: It will take a long long time before anyone wants to visit Italy or China or Spain.  Maybe some third world countries will realize they have a lot of opportunity in tourism

Zip: i think travel will take a long time to recover and people will do domestic travel more than international. I don't know if the cruise industry will ever recover….and even airplane travel will change.  I think more business will be done online - no more flying overseas for meetings. Its costly and unnecessary as people are learning now with their effective online meetings

JB:  What changes do you expect in the areas of Social Interactions?

sayaka Solano: I think people will continue to use soap when you wash your hands. Wash between your fingers really well too. I always do it.  I don't have a disinfectant spray. I do use a mask now. People should wash their hands, and wear a Flu mask as well. In Japan, not many people shake hands, so no real change will happen there.

eleee90: In a post-Covid-19 world I think people will always be scared the first time we all go out.  They will pay attention to washing hands, not standing too close with other people etc, or just staying out of areas with a lot of people inside, like a bar, etc. But since the memory is short, they will soon forgot do to do these things.  I’m especially interested in knowing what happens to teenagers. Will they pay attention? Or they will they suddenly start going back to clubs etc?

Lis: I think there might be an awareness of global dependence on each other.  The Russians are helping out a lot of nations... sending doctors and supplies.  China just sent thousands of respirators to NYC. They are as cautious about social distancing as we are.  I don't think much is going to change except in the immediate future. Basically, everyone will forget and go back to how it was before.  History never teaches people anything.

: I for one, am a hermit. Staying at home isn’t hard for me.   Some good will come out of it when its all over. People are forced to ground themselves.  But I am afraid the way we live now will be the new norm till we have a vaccine. It’s all craziness right now. I have been in isolation in RL for years.  This is my social life. I am glad we don't have to cancel events in SL and we don't need social distance here.

Zip: I think life as we know it was killed by the virus and we will come out of this very different people. I think our values will have been changed. What we appreciate, what we do and how we respond will be forever effected.  We will appreciate the cup of coffee with a friend more than our fancy sports cars. Online socializing will be more popular. But the one positive thing will be a less wasteful, greedy and capitalist people. Unfortunately, while this is resetting we will see massive crime and fear

JB:  Will COVID-19 precautions have any long-term impact on the environment?

Lis: There will be a lot more global recognition of the negative impact we have on the planet.  It is a robust but fragile system and we need to protect it a lot more or there will be more pandemics.  Some people are very undisciplined and will return quickly to bad waste habits. Using toilet paper for target practice - I saw that on TicTok.  Seriously? The earth gets time to heal, the air is clearing...the ozone layers are healing. It will be a shame when all gets back to normal. It will be contaminated again real soon.

: People need to be more aware and stop stressing our planet. We should be reducing our impact all year round. This is like a wake up call.  Our world is vulnerable. We make ourselves dependent on everyone, because that’s the system and its how the system works. Now is the time to reform.

Zip: I think the planet is resetting. People will waste less and love more, and i think this eventually will have a positive impact on our planet.  Already the pollution has eased in some parts of the world

JB:  How about economically?  Any changes predicted there?

sayaka: I think the supermarkets will reopen. We won’t starve...we won’t die of hunger.

Lis: We have already seen that the world has had to resort to online shopping.  This is something that will continue to expand. This is exactly where many of us old timers in SL hoped SL would go. I think production will return or even speed up.

Waki: I don't think the online shopping will last too long after the pandemic ends. It is mostly  impulsive buying which I think will settle down when people realize that they are buying things that they don't need.  I don't think solving COVID will affect the economy that much. I mean yeah, economy will go down the drain, it already is, but I don't think that it will change our way of living too much.  Humans have an extremely short attention span, and as soon they are "oh I lived" don't think much will change.

Zip: This is going to result in an economic reset too, but i find it difficult to talk about because i don't have the brain for economics.  But i think the very rich will not be so rich and that small business will become more successful if they are creative with how they market.  People will be wary of others for a long time and it will impact retail greatly. People will continue to shop online and trips to the mall will be a thing of the past.  Countries will start producing more of their own products and stop relying on other countries for importing what they produce themselves even if it is more costly.

JB:  How will governments change?

Anonymous:  There are lots of people making predictions, and a lot of them are hoping this whole emergency can be used to make laws that they want but the people really don't.  Governments have taken on a lot of power and taken away a lot of rights and they wont want to give that back and it will be a political struggle to get them back. For instance, in Michigan, why can't landscapers work? They are outdoors.. away from everyone.  People can walk and ride bikes.. so why not landscapers. And why can't people golf? How is that dangerous? I live near a lake where have boats. The governor says you can't use your boat? WTF?

Anonymous: Most government offices are shut.  The employees, paid with tax money, are getting full pay.. .teachers too.  But they put the people who pay their wages out of business, like me. This isn’t killing any more people than die from the flu every year, and the total mortality rate for all causes in the US is actually lower than normal right now.  "The first casualty of war is truth"

Zip: I think with all the spending of our government we will be in a very poor state for quite some time, so we will have to be more thrifty and creative.

Molder: I think eventually things will recover and we will have a better plan for future pandemics. People will see true numbers and have a better perspective on what really happened.  Eventually people will open their eyes and see the media did very little to do anything positive and created an unhealthy wave of emotions that do nothing to make the situation any better controlled in the future. The media will dredge up everything they can to create another panic.

So there you have it folks.  Current expectations of a future reality.   We’ll be back again after things settle down and we get this thing licked.  We will do another article then, checking to see how accurate we were on our predictions.  In the mean time, Stay Safe...Stay Healthy...and Stay Home!
