Espiritu Photography |
Modern photography began in the 1820’s
with the first permanent black and white photographs. In 1860, color photography was
introduced. Jumping to 1988, Fuji DS-1p
was the first digital camera to capture images in a computerized file. Today Photography
has evolved with digital enhancing programs, graphics and computer technology. Many of us own more than one camera, whether
it’s on a smart phone, laptop or multi functioning digital video camera. It is
an art form that has improved through the years, helping people capturing
memories along the way.
In Second Life, anyone can take a
snapshot but it takes a certain eye for angles, lighting, backgrounds, poses
and editing skills to create that perfect professional shot. Each photographer
has their own style and technique that separate them from the rest; it is a
matter of preference and quality customer service.

Tpenta Vanalten Music In Second Life Pandora Drezelan Reporting…

Pub With No Beer |
I
watched Tpenta Vanalten’s performance at a great little Australian hotel. ‘The
Pub With No Beer’ and got to speak to him about his work and Second Life.
Tpenta (Alan in RL) talks about his early days in Second Life and the beginning
of his musical career:
‘I
had my fifth rez day last December. I came to Second Life initially I think out
of curiosity. I made a number of friends at a club called Odds & Ends. It
didn't take me long to figure out that without Linden dollars it was going to
be rough’
‘Odds
& Ends had "dance pads" which let you "earn" Lindens
but it really was a slow way to earn money. I hosted events at a club for a
while before hearing about live music in Second Life.’
‘I
remember very clearly the first time I played, just not quite when. It was
probably about a year after I started.’
‘One
of the highlight music events of the week used to be Freestar Bay. It would
start around 7pm on Saturday evening and run 30 minutes sets of booked artists
until midnight and then an open mic while there were folks who wanted to
play.’
‘Autumnfoxx
would be there for the whole event. Organizing the performers onto the stage,
getting streams right etc for the whole time. I decided to have a go at the
open mic. Rosedrop (Rusty) Rust brought me out to Pannies and let me test my
setup on his stream before jumping up at FSB, but my first real gig in Second
Life was at the open mic in Freestar Bay.’

Suggested Reading-Inside Enterprise IT- The good news about disaster recovery planning – it’s not as hard as it used to be -Susmit Pal: Infographic

Did you Know? |
Only 26% of healthcare facilities have a robust, tested disaster recovery plan, according to an article on Health IT Exchange. Not surprising, considering the wide variety of data types and applications involved – email, medical records, multiple diagnostic imaging PACS, financial processing.
But recovery planning can be critical to your facility’s survival. Disasters like Hurricane Katrina, the tornadoes in Missouri and the tsunami in Japan have shown that healthcare facilities are at risk. And patients depend on healthcare facilities to have their records, even in the wake of a disaster.
The good news is that recent advances in technology are making the process far simpler than it was even just two years ago. The ability to aggregate data from multiple sources into an intelligent storage platform — one that has built-in redundancy and data protection — has eliminated a lot of the labor and expense.
Cloud technology also can enable constant backup of your archives to a geographically remote location, which is much safer than tape backups stored nearby. And recovery via cloud can be fast, allowing a facility to be up again within hours.

The Good The Bad And The Gorgeous; Second Life Photography -Pandora Drezelan Reporting...

Having your photo taken in Second Life can be an amazing experience, whether it’s for your profile, a pic with friends or a model portfolio, however there are a few things that you should consider first before committing yourself to a photo shoot.
Every photographer is different and they each have their own methods, styles and ideas, some may want to photograph you without your AO, while others will want to take some shots with you wearing it for a more natural look, you may even be asked to remove your hair for some poses for a better final result.

Although not as many real life businesses have an inworld presence as a few years ago, some continue to do some work in Second Life. One I hadn't heard of doing so was Raytheon, at least until I stumbled across a Youtube by accident.
