You are Invited to World Space Week 2021: Oct. 4-10

You are cordially invited to events celebrating World Space Week 2021, October 4th through the 10th, sponsored by the National Space Society in SL, the International Spaceflight Museum, and SpaceX in SL.

World Space Week is an international celebration of science and technology, and their contributions to the betterment of the human condition. The United Nations General Assembly declared in 1999 that World Space Week will be held each year from October 4-10. These dates commemorate two events:

October 4, 1957: Launch of the first human-made Earth satellite, Sputnik 1, thus opening the way for space exploration; and

October 10, 1967: The signing of the Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies, a.k.a. Guest of Honor Dr. Joseph Borg of Malta will be receiving an Achievement award, and additional awards will be presented. Dr. Borg and his colleagues are the first Maltese space project to be launched via a SpaceX rocket. This cube with science experiments successfully made it to the International Space Station.

When a rock star friend told me I was going to win the Avie Choice Award for this category, I was unsure because I was up against some very talented sources. I stood here  for a while thinking about what to say after learning that SLE took home the award and a goody bag.

 It is an absolute pleasure to be a part of Second Life and do what I love; provide you all with continuous news from within SL and get to meet some of the coolest people from around the world.

 Looking back to 2004 when I was in The SIMS Online and thought it would be a neat idea to create a newspaper website for my circle of friends, never in a million years would I have thought that my work  and the work of a full blown Team of writers would be recognized as the most favorite SL Media Source in Second Life but here we are!

I’ve spent a lot of time exploring Second life not just as a reporter, strip club enthusiast and shameless concert groupie but also as a customer.  I’ve purchased clothes, shoes, hair, Ao’s, dances, jewelry and many other accessories, toys, gizmos, gadgets  and whatnot throughout the years and for the most part, I’m greeted by someone or something  and loaded up with note cards at every place I go.  It is to be expected of most establishments here, otherwise how would the word get out to others without using media and news outlets, such as the SL Enquirer, BOSL, Imagine Magazine, Second Nights and others.

Business in Second Life is not like a real world business. Anyone can purchase or rent a land to build a store and plop a business on it. In the real world plenty of capital is needed, a physical location and a serious team of hard workers need to be implemented.   Even without the major capital, many SL businesses struggle with the lack of other required efforts.
