Finding a Balance: Are you Living in the Virtual Moment and Letting Real time pass you by? -Lanai Jarrico Reporting...

The virtual world has a way of sucking a person in and spitting them out years later with their head spinning. Some move on to bigger things while others continue the virtual path in search of something that needs to be fulfilled in their life.

My inspiration for this article comes from a friend I recently spoke to about his virtual world experience and how he feels he let 6 years slip away with a snap of his fingers. I can certainly relate to how years can fly by in a virtual world but I also think that unless you are involved in something great that leads to positive changes in your real life, the virtual world can be very fulfilling or for some, a waste of time that they could be spending in the real world.

People involved in virtual worlds spend their time doing an assortment of things that satisfy their creativity and personal needs. Some venture around Second Life in search of companionship because it may be difficult for them in the real world due to social awkwardness or anxiety. Others come from loveless marriages or live in loneliness and are looking for that feeling of being loved and needed. Those things can be found in Second life, but does it mean there are real emotions involved or just an illusion that takes away from the words “living life”?

Blogging: Why is it so Popular? – Freewings Reporting…

Blogging is a popular activity in Second Life. A lot of people do it and there’s hundreds of blogs out there and people still keep doing it. I blog, and many people I know blog, but we aren’t the first to start and definitely will not be the last.
So why do people continue to fall into the trap of blogging when there is so many already out there? I went around the Grid asking why people began to blog.

Museum Island; Shadows and Reflections of our Cultural Legacy - Glossom Resident Reporting

Have you ever been chased by your own shadow while walking the streets of Second life? Have you ever seen your own reflection mirrored in a window?
In a world where all the content is created by its residents, seeing the reflection of our minds and souls mirrored in many little things is easier than it seems at first glance. Join us and embark on a timeless journey where creativity reigns.

Although it is virtually impossible to find shadows and reflections in this 3D reality where mirrors are purely decorative and shadows are no more than modeled prims, Second life is a giant mirror that reflects a borderless world of imagination, creativity, emotion and above all, that reflects an abundance of different expressions of cultural heritage.

Building for Dummies – Vapor Paragorn Reporting…

Building in SL is not only fun, it's a good outlet for your creativity. You can express your imagination and ideas. You can build almost everything that you imagine. By using the right textures and creatively shaping prims, you can recreate everything in SL that you see around you in real life.

The possibilities are endless with the building tools available and the numbers of ways you can shape prims. Building is the core of every virtual world. Everything we use in SL is made by someone for our use.  Many Avies are curious about how things are made. For example, how a simple prim (box) can be shaped so intelligently to create all the things we see around us.

Our curiosity leads us to experimentation and that's how most of us learn the basics of building. Experimenting is a fun way of learning and its always encouraged, but still there are some residents who want to try building but somehow they hesitate. It’s either due to lack of knowledge or they fear that they might mess up things in doing so. Good news is, SL building may appear as a complicated task at first, but when you learn the basics then most things become easier. This article will focus on the basics of SL building and will equip you with essential know-how.
