Inworld Employment-Your Guide to finding a job in Second Life and keeping it-Hazel Silvermoon Reporting…

Second Life is a fascinating platform with many opportunities that fit every lifestyle. From visiting faraway places, to shopping at your favorite boutique, every new adventure is just a click away. One of these many opportunities is the chance for inworld employment. Not only does this fulfill our need to be more active in our virtual community, it gives us a chance to earn currency like we would working in real life. But, how do we obtain a job in Second Life, and more importantly, what are some tips for keeping it? Read this guide to find out!

Finding a Job

Second Life Forums

There are plenty of places we can look when searching for employment in Second Life. Once you have determined your desired field of work, you can start by checking the Second life forums: (located on secondlife.com under the community tab.) Once you find the forums tab, scroll down and you will see a section called: “Commerce Forum”. Under this section, you will see another subsection titled: “Inworld Employment.” You can then click on the link to find several potential employers for various jobs. Make sure to read the entire listing carefully before applying for any job. This will allow you to ensure that you are applying correctly. This will give you a much better chance at landing an interview!

Job Agencies

If forums are not your thing, or you prefer a more realistic experience, there are job agencies in Second Life as well. You can visit any of these agencies to find out what employment opportunities are available. After exploring several, I found that Top Job Agency was the place with the most active employment boards.

Upon entering Top Job Agency, you will find a multitude of ad boards advertising work that is currently available. Simply click on the ad for the job you wish to apply for, and you will receive a folder with notes and instructions for applying. You can then follow the instructions provided to submit your applications. The Jobs are divided by category.

If you need more options, other great places to look for virtual jobs are: employment groups, and Facebook and Twitter groups as well. There are an extensive number of clubs, stores, and real estate companies that have a Facebook page or Twitter feed. You can then follow these feeds to the main website for these creators. Many of them have applications that you can fill out right on the main page.

Punctuality and Dressing for Success

After finding our dream job listing, it is time to get serious. After submitting your application, it is important to dress for the job we want. Take time to think about what you might be required to wear based on the job you are applying for. Choose outfits that suit those needs. Make sure that if the job requires business attire, that you don’t show up in a t-shirt, as this may give any potential employers the wrong first impression!

Another important thing to remember is: always be punctual. Show up at least 15 minutes early for any interviews, or the beginning of any shifts. This shows your eagerness to obtain or keep your job. It allows your employer to see that you are dedicated to your workplace, and will allow you to open yourself up for potential advancements or promotions.

Proper Conduct

Once we land a job in Second Life, we want to make sure that we keep it! To do so, we must follow a few simple rules to make sure that we are the best employee we can be. They are as follows:

Be a team player

While most employers do understand that work-life balance is important, it is also important that you are dedicated to them as well. Be willing to listen to any ideas your teammates or supervisors may have. Be prepared to work together alongside others, and to be receptive to change and new ways to work in a group.

Respect Others
Remember, a little respect goes a long way. Be sure to be courteous and kind to your employer, all other team members, and any clients you may have. Being courteous and showing respect to others is crucial in any job setting. It allows us to get along with our coworkers, superiors, and clients, and will make for a positive work experience. Afterall, a happy client is a client for life! Also, in showing respect, your coworkers will always have a fun and positive workplace experience!

Focus, Dedication, and Clarity

There are a few final things to remember when working any job. First and foremost, real life does come first. If something does come up, make sure to contact your employer ahead of time, so they may cover your shift and the company can continue to run smoothly. This is both respectful and responsible.

Secondly, make sure to stay focused while on the Job. Avoid outside distractions and all private DMS to friends (unless it is necessary or an emergency.) Be present, and stay present.

The Third and final thing to remember is: be clear with your employer. Make sure that you state your intentions before hire, and continue to maintain frequent communication throughout your employment. Be sure to provide your availability and communicate your desires so that there is no confusion as to when you are able to work, and what the expectations are.

Even though getting a job and keeping it can seem intimidating, working in Second Life should be fun and rewarding. Remember, like any job in real life, you should do what you love, and love what you do. There is something for everyone here, and the opportunity to dream big is yours for the taking. So get out there and find your passion!

4 Top Makeover Tips You Must Read

If you avoid photographs, dread looking in the mirror, or are unhappy with your style, it might be the perfect time to overhaul your look. While beauty is more than skin deep, your appearance and clothing can affect your self-esteem.

If you want to brim with confidence each time you step outside your front door, you must find ways to transform your image. Get started with these four top makeover tips you must read.

1. Change Your Hairstyle

Are you tired of the same hair color or cut? Embrace a brand-new hairstyle to shake up your look and improve your self-confidence. Talk to a hair stylist about the best hairstyle for your facial shape, hair type, and skin tone, which will ensure you walk out of a salon feeling like a brand-new person.

2. Adopt a New Skincare Regimen

If your skin appears dull and drab, adopt a new skincare regimen to create a glowing, youthful complexion. For example, you can start by cleansing your skin with micellar water to ensure it is soft and clean. Next, apply either a facial oil or moisturizer to lock in hydration and create radiant skin that will make you look much younger than your years. Repeat the above actions at night and then apply a defense eye cream before bed to banish dark circles and slow down the aging process.

3. Ditch Your Glasses or Contact Lenses

If you rely on glasses or contact lenses for good vision, they likely impact your appearance, freedom, and style. If you want to develop a new look that will wow your loved ones, it’s time to ditch your glasses and contact lenses for good. To do so, you can book a laser eye surgery Melbourne appointment to restore your vision. It will transform your look, boost your self-confidence, and help you see clearly each day.

4. Overhaul Your Closet

Pull out every item of clothing in your closet and decide the pieces you would like to keep, sell, or donate to a charitable organization. If an outfit doesn’t make you exude confidence, replace it with items that will make you feel stylish.

Incorporate various staple pieces into your closet to mix and match your clothing, which can help you appear fashionable every day of the week. For instance, you should add:

  • A leather jacket

  • Plain white T-shirt

  • Little black dress

  • Straight leg jeans

  • A blazer

  • A midi dress

  • Sneakers

  • Button-up shirt

  • Ballet flats

Also, invest in different jewelry pieces to shake up your style, such as statement necklaces, chunky scarves, hats, and bracelets. It will keep your look fresh and interesting, and the new items can boost your confidence when at work, shopping, or socializing.

A lack of confidence can hold you back in life, as it can stop you from meeting new people or following your dreams. If you often feel self-conscious or want to transform your image, the above makeover tips can improve your look and self-esteem.

Tips on Summer Flings/Dating in Second Life and how to keep the spark going

It’s still summer in Second life! The bars, clubs and beaches are full of people from different parts of the world looking for fun and romance. When we enroll in a relationship, even if it’s just virtual, we want everything to go well. But to make that possible it’s necessary to follow some tips that can guarantee the summer romances’ success.
How to flirt:
  1. Check the Radar. Pay attention to the possibilities. Look around and see who attracts you. Don’t be a perfectionist and don’t go with all as well.

  1. If you are interested in someone around you, show it! Lt the person know you are looking and try to establish eye contact with him or her. However, do it slowly. Avoid to stare at a person.

  1. Create an atmosphere of mystery and fun. Flirt is a dance of interests. Observe from distance while getting ready to be looked at. Have good humor.

  1. Play with the space. Get closer to foreign spots. Flirt is a movement, it is a surprise. Be creative.

  1. If you manage to establish a good eye contact, use other way to contact with him or her. Break the ice. Get closer and start talking!

  1. What should you talk about? You don’t need to be a poet or a writer, you just have to talk about interesting subjects. You can talk about something that’s happening, make an honest compliment, you can also ask something. It doesn’t matter.

  1. Don’t complain. Its very unpleasant to meet someone who is always complaining about life. Say nice things about life and about yourself.
  2. Learn to listen. Show interest in the person.
  3. Don’t be too serious. Use some little jokes and be daring at times. However don’t exaggerate at it.
  4. Nowadays, the easier path is to go right to virtual sex. But if you manage to create other communication bridges, looking for same interests you’ll have more chance of a long term relationship.
  5. If you liked a person, try not to lose him or her from your sight. Try to schedule another date and offer your friendship. If you don’t like the person, be thankful for the conversation and leave politely.

How to keep the flame burning:
  1. Don’t let romance go into monotony.

  1. If there’s something that can ruin the life of a couple e monotony. Days start to be repetitive which gets boring. Be creative so each day will be different. Ask your partner out to visit some galleries, go out to a bar or club, explore or go for a walk to break the routine.

  1. Ward off Jealousy
Jealousy is a big problem to most couples, even more when its out of control. Feel a little jealous is normal. However that can not affect the individual life outside the relationship of each person.

  1. Do not betray your partner
You might want to risk with a parallel romance but if your partner finds out it can run your relationship forever. It’s important to establish some rules right from the start. Negociate the possibility of an open relationship is important to avoid future lies.
  1. Be romantic, but not too much.
We all enjoy nice words and romantic dinners but don’t exaggerate. No one likes people who are always glued. Be sensitive and show determination when the moment requires.
  1. Learn to enjoy other activities.

The usual is that a couple has similar tastes but is also common that the opposites feel attracted. So, if your partner has a very different taste from yours, try to learn to also enjoy the same things he does. If he likes to dance and you don’t, try to go with him and have fun.

The power to conquer is an ability that we acquire with experience, good and bad. Always remember to take care of your avatar. The package is not everything but it helps a lot. If you take care of your avatar it is a good sign you take care of yourself too.

How to Get More Out of Networking Events

Networking events can often prove to be the bane of your existence, especially if you feel that they are a waste of your time. Networking can be incredibly important, however, and if the events you attend aren’t yielding valuable results, it might be time for a change of tactics. There are several things that you can do to make the most of networking parties. Here is how to ensure that you get the outcome you want out of these events:

Be Prepared

It’s important to arrive on time for networking events. You can make sure you don’t get lost by finding out about the venues before you travel - check this weblink for more information. When you are on time, you will have first access to all the people that you want to meet early on. This means that you can talk to those who are actually relevant to your business at the beginning of the evening. This will enable you to relax for the rest of the night and socialise with your peers.
Make a note of the people that you would like to meet before you get to the event. This will ensure that you do not waste time with those who have nothing to do with your area of expertise. You will, of course, probably end up meeting other people as well but if you get the important ones out of the way first, you can relax.

Dress Appropriately

Humans cannot help but size one another up by their appearance. This is not a tendency that will be going away anytime soon, either, so it should dictate how you dress at these events. You should be well dressed and look good. Do not go overboard or seem as though you are trying too hard, though, as this can turn many people away. Simply match your outfit to the venue and the atmosphere of the party and you will be fine. It is also good to wear a statement piece of jewellery or even nice shoes. This can be an excellent conversation starter when meeting new people.

Position Yourself

It is a horrible feeling to walk aimlessly around the room, hoping to chance upon a person who is not already engaged in conversation. This is why where you position yourself in the room is important. The ideal place to wait is at the bar. This is because at some time during the night, everyone will make their way to the bar. This will allow you to casually begin a conversation with them when they do so.

Be Selective

You may feel the need to give everyone you meet your business card. You should not do this. The whole point of networking is to meet people who can be mutually beneficial to one another. If you hand out your card to everyone and take everyone else’s in return, your night cannot be considered successful. After you have chatted with people for a bit, you can size up whether or not they are relevant to your business. If they are,
offer them your business card. If they are not, find a way to naturally and politely end the conversation.
These tips should ensure that you network much more effectively. You should soon be perceiving such events as advantageous to you rather than a drag.

Top 5 tips on how to keep romance alive in Second Life-Becca Drascol Reporting

Just like nurturing a child or a pet, a relationship needs nurturing. And for a romantic relationship it is a bond that can be just as delicate as it can be strong. One needs to think of a good, healthy relationship as a work in progress, where there is definitely a beginning, middle but no foreseeable end. So here we go...my top 5 tips for keeping the romance alive.

1.    Respect-Have you ever blocked and or unfriended someone in SL because they had no respect for or even towards you? We all have. So why then would you be in any type of romantic relationship virtual or real, if there was no respect? Any type of relationship needs respect on both sides.

2.     Honesty-Being honest is another must. While some people can work through and beyond lies, but for most sometimes even one lie can fully change a relationship. Just as trust is a huge issue in relationships, honesty goes hand in hand with that. And afterall, no one likes being lied to.

3.    Making sure to make time for your partner-Like any type of relationship be it romantic, friendship or family, for a bond to stay or grow stronger you must make time for one another. For couples it could be as simple as choosing one night a week and declare it date night. Pick a location in SL you both would enjoy and perhaps have fun and romantic things to do together. The most important part is to take time that is a couples only thing for you and your special someone to enjoy and connect or reconnect even.

4.    Keep it hot-Romance equals intimacy. All people crave intimacy of some form, which is of course human nature. So if that means in SL your idea of keeping it hot is a nice time dancing slow sexy dances, so be it. Cuddling with your partner can be so rewarding. For most of us in SL there is a certain attachment to not only our own avatar but to the avatar of our partner. Sometimes it can be so nice to sit back and just cuddle, be close or hug even. And lastly sex, yes make time for sex. While sex isn't the most important part of intimacy it too is something as humans we crave. For some it may be silly to have sex in a virtual world, but as one half of a couple who plays SL with her RL husband of six years, even sex in SL can be fun and hot.

5.    Show your love-Rather your SL relationship is strictly SL or is a part of your RL as well, for a long lasting, growing relationship to survive, show your love. Give gifts, something small and just sweet you thought your partner would adore, or if you’re so inclined expensive and you felt they just had to have. Show small gestures of love, even if that gesture is simply saying "You know, you make me smile." Request a song that means something to you and your partner. A song request can make the guy or girl in your life at the least smile, and who knows maybe even tear up with joy. Again as well as cuddling for the sake of keeping it hot, cuddle, hug and do whatever shows your love to your SL sweetie.

What’s the trick?

Keeping romance alive is a bit of fun, sometimes hard work, and of course intimacy and love. But most importantly it’s doing whatever betters the relationship you have with that special someone. So what is the trick? Simply put maybe there isn’t one. I don’t know...but what I do know is hopefully these top 5 help you SL’ers in keeping your SL romance alive.

Building for Dummies – Vapor Paragorn Reporting…

Building in SL is not only fun, it's a good outlet for your creativity. You can express your imagination and ideas. You can build almost everything that you imagine. By using the right textures and creatively shaping prims, you can recreate everything in SL that you see around you in real life.

The possibilities are endless with the building tools available and the numbers of ways you can shape prims. Building is the core of every virtual world. Everything we use in SL is made by someone for our use.  Many Avies are curious about how things are made. For example, how a simple prim (box) can be shaped so intelligently to create all the things we see around us.

Our curiosity leads us to experimentation and that's how most of us learn the basics of building. Experimenting is a fun way of learning and its always encouraged, but still there are some residents who want to try building but somehow they hesitate. It’s either due to lack of knowledge or they fear that they might mess up things in doing so. Good news is, SL building may appear as a complicated task at first, but when you learn the basics then most things become easier. This article will focus on the basics of SL building and will equip you with essential know-how.

2/14/13

I'm a shameless news addict and not afraid to admit it. I must say, it is a lot to absorb!

Here is an interesting article I found on Discovery News about Dating Avatars and some tips that can help those that are involved in dating in Second Life.

Five Spiritual Tips by Linda Lauren

Another year has opened up, along with another opportunity to grow with the positive energy available to us.  Most of us remember to take care of the mind and the body, but we often neglect to tend to the Spirit, and yet it is the spirit that moves our daily lives on in  terms of positive and negative. I believe that is because there is confusion as to what the spirit is and what role it plays in the big picture. Most people understand the Spirit to be something they can not touch that is often defined through our faith and only practiced when we visit a house of worship.

Your Spirit is much more than that. It is the essence of who you are. It defines you and molds the personality. It is the factor that is responsible for the emotions you embrace and the moods you have in your life. Whether you respond or react, which are two very different things,  is really up to your spirit. So it's very important that you understand that that essence feeds your morale. When you are sad, that is the Spirit feeling sad. That in turn makes you think sad thoughts  and you become depressed. That sadness overwhelms you and eventually affects your body and it creates a dis-ease. Your Spirit is the universal life force within you and it is responsible for who you are and how you live. Keeping your Spirit up is a way to a healthy life. Here are some  tips to start you off:

Minimize your intake of news - be careful how you are feeding your spirit.  Nourish it with what you need to know rather than gorge on an appetite of what can fast become an abundant menu of negativity.

SLE Business Scoop – Are you role playing Business in SL? Here are some very helpful hints on starting a business from scratch. Lanai Jarrico Reporting…

I’ve been in Second Life long enough to throw my two cents in when it comes to business. I’m no oracle that claims to know it all but some things are no brainers.  I have met many peeps in this virtual world that take business seriously and others well…let’s just say are still in the practice stages. Some of the problems that we face in virtual business today are the technical difficulties that can frazzle ones creativity or prolong the process of creating products and putting them in the virtual market. Let's view those issues as our virtual "natural disasters". There isn't really much we can do about those, except brave the bad  SLweather and carry on.

One of the first things any establishment here in Second Life needs is a strong foundation. You can’t build a sandcastle and expect it to withstand the winds of change that occur here on a regular basis.
