Beyond the Physical Transcendent Action - Seersha Heart reporting...

“Have you ever found yourself running around doing things while you breath quickly and your heart beats too fast?

If left to your own natural pace what would your breathing be like, your pulse be like, operating in your own rhythm?  Discovering this rhythm gives a certain feeling of freedom to know ourselves.”                                                                                       Ewan Bonham

Today I am speaking with Ewan Bonham who, along with Starlight will be hosting a weekly Transcendent Activation class Sundays at 3 pm slt beginning March 19, 2017.  Ewan is sharing the experience of Mindful Meditation with SL residents to help them find that freedom.

Seersha Heart:  For those who may not know, what is meditation?

Ewan Bonham:  Meditation is a practice of concentrated focus upon a sound object visualization, the breath, movement or attention itself… in order to increase awareness of the present moment.  It is used to reduce stress, promote relaxation and enhance personal and spiritual growth.

One source of stress is our mind jumping around to things it has no control over: the past, the future.  We have a habit of thinking about these issues continually, but we find peace as we live our moments in the present.

When we focus on the present moment we feel a sense of peace and can enjoy the sensations of that moment.  This leads to each of these moments being a richer experience.

Seersha Heart:  One of the other techniques you will be discussing is “Mindfulness” meditation.  How would you describe that activity?

Ewan Bonham: Simply sit in stillness allowing whatever thoughts you have come to your mind. You acknowledge them and sense their flow but you give them no energy.  You do not pursue the thoughts, letting them float in and out.  As you let go of these thoughts you gain an ability to stay in the present.

You create a detachment from distracting thoughts to gain insight and awareness of self.

Seersha Heart:  Your class is called Transcendent Activation.  What do you mean when you use this term?

Ewan Bonham:  Transcendence means beyond the body, also beyond our strict time table and beyond the physical.  Transcendence is a reduction of our awareness of our physical bodies and a letting go of our emphasis on time.  Your body and your mind can regulate itself.

Seersha Heart:  What made you think of SL as a good place for your class?

Ewan Bonham:  SL is very convenient to use. You just need a laptop and to construct your own personal Ashram. Our meeting as a group while using the simple tools in SL, gives you the freedom to construct your method and space to take time out of your RL day.  When we meet as a group we will go through many of the different tools that help to create an ambiance.  The end product will be to build you own private space for focused meditation.

Seersha Heart:  You are saying your group will be making their own meditation area using the tools in SL?

Ewan Bonham:  We begin by showing a simple platform.  I want each person to find a place, where nobody else knows you are around, your own corner of the world for this ashram to be used.

Some of the SL tools we will use in building our ambiance are lighting, textures, our cameras and scenes. Other tools include the use of words, affirmations, music and sounds.  Some find it useful to use a moving object for focus [moving art].  These are all basic building tools to use to make your ashram.

After discussing the ashram I will talk the group through a meditative experience.  The breath is the anchor of meditation, if you concentrate on how your breath sounds and feels it is much easier to stay in the present.

Seersha Heart:  People attending the class will meet other residents.  What are the social and interactive elements of your group?

Ewan Bonham: We will practice meditation and follow it up with a group discussion.  Members can share what the experience was like for them.  Perhaps something that has popped up for them.  Some people have memories or feelings they haven’t had in years. Once released, they become more available to the present.

Discovering and sharing with group members in our natural state has a comforting feeling.

We will also be traveling to some of the many SIMs that are designed creatively and beautifully.  They have been created with meditative spots in mind.

Seersha Heart:  You will be meeting in a dedicated skybox for meditation.  Will you describe it for us?

Ewan Bonham: It is represented in the picture. This is a quiet and private space where we can flexibly present many of the elements discussed above.  Group members can determine what feels right for each of them.

Seersha Heart: Should people interested in your class bring anything with them to class?

Ewan Bonham: Just themselves and their own open minds and hearts.

Johnathan Hiess Experience : Living Large in SL and RL - Seersha Heart Reporting

The SL Enquirer has reported on Johnathan Hiess last in 2012 in the story ‘When Second Life Impacts Real Life’.  The Hiess Experience is moving strongly as we check back with the founder, Johnathan, to see what they are doing now.  We started his interview while he was having his hair cut by a very patient stylist, Elizabeth, at Lady Jane’s in Peoria Arizona.  Moving to his exotic beach themed SIM Johnathan answers my questions to catch us up on the Johnathan Hiess Experience.

Seersha Heart:  Remind me what brought you to Second Life to pursue your love of music.

Johnathan Hiess:   What brought me to SL was my company CIGNA.  I was watching medical and news reports on internet addiction.  I saw how heavy Second Life during that era was being trafficked so I wrote a proposal which got approved and CIGNA set up shop in Teen SL.  That's when I created Johnathan Hiess.  I didn't really know what to do with myself in SL until I heard the music scene.  I was a DJ in my teens in the 1980s so I felt a lot of in world DJs were doing it wrong.  I had been around music and live performances since I was 6 years old.  So I had a good understanding of the music scene.

Seersha Heart: In some ways it seems that SL saved your life at one point, correct me if I am wrong....what would you tell others looking for a creative outlet?

Johnathan Hiess:   SL gave to me an outlet with the music to create.  Most veterans like me Diagnosed with PTSD sometimes depend on being medicated.  Music for me is my stress reliever.  When it comes to the Tributes I actually let others take the stage and I just do the music.  I like giving a person who's healthy or with a Terminal Illness a chance at being that one fantasy of being that artist on stage.  I even had one pass away after her performance.  But she lived her fantasy.

Seersha Heart:  You suffered through some very traumatic life events and have PTSD from them...how has pursuing your music changed or not the way you deal with PTSD?

Johnathan Hiess:   As I mentioned about putting people on stage this is what brings me happiness.  If I can put you in a good mood from my Djing, Tributes or Singing and you feel good then I feel good.  SL is what you make of it.  But it doesn't always have to be you at the center of your Universe.  Share it with others and they will do more than put their faith in you.

Seersha Heart: In 2012, SL Enquirer did an article on you and at the time you had a regular presence in SL and your career IRL with music was taking off.  What projects do you have on the horizon IRL?

Johnathan Hiess:  Since the 2012 article I had the pleasure of working with Freddie Cruz.  That led to three RL gigs and several other events.  Eventually I partnered with Gaby Rivera of Lola Entertainment.  I also moved on to State Farm and been very happy.  I have a balance of SL, Music and RL

Note to reader: Some of the RL groups he has worked with include: Cheap Trick, Poison and Def Leppard, Slash, Myles Kennedy, Ozzy Osbourne. See When Second Life Impacts Real Life’ for the complete story of his work with these artists.

Seersha Heart:  What presence does the Hiess Project have currently in SL?  Are you collaborating with Kittie Blessed to bring it to a more regular presence again?

Johnathan Hiess:   The Johnathan Hiess Experience has maintained a steady Presence at Franks Jazz and Franks Elite Jazz.  Often at times branching out to other venues like Playboy SL, Roissy, T&S Speedway/Finish Line, Club Hatsune and OD Designs for concerts that cannot be done at Franks.  And yes there is now a permanent presence of Kittie Blessed with The Hiess Experience.  With Kittie I have launched a new Division called Rusty Violence.  She will handle all the Rock/Metal/Alternative concerts.  Carmen Cardone has taken on the other division now called Center Stage were musicals like Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables.  From this a new Experimental division has also been launched named City Park.  That part has already acquired music from Artists like Keith Sweat, RUN-DMC, EMINEM

Seersha Heart:   Your tribute band is outstanding and even has an endorsement as well, true?  Which bands do you do the music from?  I heard  Chris Issak and HIM when I attended the Thursday October 27, 2016 event.

Johnathan Hiess:   What you heard was the band HIM doing their cover of Chris Isaac. Yes the Johnathan Hiess Experience does acquire music from major labels.  That's why the music sounds so good.  Plus I get full concerts.  I do not like that pieced together concerts my competition does.  Plus they use the same music over and over.  There is only so many AC/DC & Nickelback concerts a persons senses can take.

Seersha Heart: You are extremely dedicated to your music and your children are also very musically oriented.  You work at State Farm and didn't you do something for State Farm too?

Johnathan Hiess:  Yes I did.  Twice State Farm had me DJ in the work place for Cinco De Mayo events.  Many of my coworkers do enjoy listening to me DJ from Franks Jazz.  Ladies say my voice in seductive lol

Seersha Heart:  I can say that you do have a very seductive voice.  *fans self* Tell me what your children are doing now?

Johnathan Hiess:  Four daughters and one son:
daughters; Amber (Resides in Utah and works for a Software Company); Rosaliz (Resides in Massachusetts and has completed both Medical School and Residency.  She is engaged and already planning a family of her own); Michelle (Resides in California and recently resigned from Disney.  She is in the process of moving back to Arizona.) ,Justine (Just moved to Texas and is looking to restart her DJ Career there in both worlds)
son: Hiro - Currently on Tour in Japan.  He will not pursue music after he returns.  Hiro plans on going to the Air Force Academy to become a Doctor.

Seersha Heart:   Your group, The Hiess Experience, is open to anyone to join so they may be alerted to upcoming events.  Are there any special events I should tell our readers about now?

Johnathan Hiess:  Yes, Les Miserables on Black Friday [November 25, 2016].  I figured after a day of crazy shopping and visiting relatives, and kitchen cleaning.  You will be looking forward to a break.

By joining The Hiess Experience group, you will be alerted to the tribute band productions and any other musical event he organizes in world.  Johnathan is living the dream of success in both worlds finding that perfect RL to SL balance.  I hope you each have the opportunity to see and to listen to one of his productions.  The sound is exceptional and the quality is top notch.

Stand Off Software : Mysteries Afoot -Seersha Heart Reporting...

Do you watch detective shows on television and imagine yourself solving cases?  Do you feel being a detective would be fun?  If you answered yes to either of these questions, Lutra City is the perfect place for you to visit.  Using a HUD designed by Ilithios Liebknecht of Stand Off Software, you can become a detective in world when you go to Lutra City.  It is a fairly simple process.

Arriving at the landing point for Lutra City, I find myself right next to the French & Horn Detective Agency.  There is a large sign to the left of the door that reads “Detectives Wanted”.  Excited at the prospect, I click on the sign and receive a “New Detective”quest with a HUD.  This quest directs me various places so I may become acquainted with using the HUD.  The HUD stores inventory, analyzes, picks up, and stores items.  At the end of this quest, I have my detective’s license.

There is a bulletin board that has three cases to be solved and a different bulletin board with incidents.  For a small fee, you purchase the folder to one of the three cases then begin your detective work.  Compared to various hunts offered in world, these cases are quite the bargain at 190L.  The cases available are Delinquent Daughter, Silent Slasher and Fractured Fraternity.

Described by the developer Ilithios Liebknecht, each case is different.  Silent Slasher is a whodunit murder mystery where during your investigation you uncover a sinister twist.  In Fractured Fraternity, you infiltrate and take down a gang of organized criminals trying to move into Lutra City.  There are also a couple of free incidents to visit.  Ilithios Liebknecht describes the difference as cases are feature length games that you should not necessarily expect to get through in one sitting. They are more difficult than incidents and have a more complex story.Incidents are pretty short and can most likely be completed in a single sitting.  I asked Ilithios to answer a few more questions for us:

Seersha Heart:  Are you working on more cases?  When might they be available?

IlithiosLiebknecht :I'm not currently working on a case for SL, but I am working on a stand-alone PC game featuring the setting and characters from the games here. Expect that to be released in 2017. There will also certainly be more cases here in SL this year.

Seersha Heart:  Do you make any other products in addition to the detective series?

Ilithios Liebknecht: Not at the moment but I do have plans for other types of games and game-related products that I will bring to SL. Keep on the lookout.

Seersha Heart:  What would you like to tell people about playing the cases?

IlithiosLiebknecht : My intention was to bring full featured adventure games to SL that are not over-simplified for the platform and I think I have largely succeeded. They are not just hunts or a walk in the park type game but are truly challenging. You will have to reason your way through sometimes quite complex puzzles which makes it even more rewarding when you finally crack the case.

It's much easier if you bring a friend or two. or five. Also, you can call out in the group to see if anyone is available to help if you get stuck. Many people have completed the games at this point and many are willing to help.

Seersha Heart:  I was wondering.is there a deep dark secret with the name of the city.  What does Lutra [the name] mean?

Ilithios Liebknecht: Lutra was the region name chosen by LL. It's a genus of otter.

Seersha Heart: *laughs* Otter know that one.  Do you have any other SIMs?

Ilithios Liebknecht: I do.

-- The Adventure Game Nexus showcases the best adventure games and adventure game creators in SL.

-- Stand Office Space is a small office building where people can rent an office in SL.

-- Pickle Pub is a live music venue. Not a lot going on there recently though since the games took off at Lutra.

Seersha Heart: I am interested in the mystery writers and developers in SL.  I recently did an article on the author of the AFK series.  Have you heard of Huckleberry Hax the SL author who writes detective novels that are based in SL?

Ilithios Liebknecht: I have not but sounds like something I should certainly look into. That sounds fun.

Seersha Heart:  Any final thoughts for our new detectives playing the games?

Ilithios Liebknecht: Asking in the group or even asking others walking around in the city who look like they are doing the same game is highly encouraged.  I very highly encourage people to help each other.

Seersha Heart: Thank you for your time Ilithios.  I am currently working on Delinquent Daughter and having a great time.

You might wonder what happens if a player contacts Ilithios while on a case.  He has a firm *I don't give hints* policy.  His words on this no hint policy are : “I don't give hints because I kept getting IMs day and night with hint requests so I had to just enact a strict no hints policy for myself. But that only applies to me. Asking in the group or even asking others walking around in the city who look like they are doing the same game is highly encouraged. So my personal no hints policy isn't to try to force people to not get hints, just not from me :-)”

You must struggle through the game with only your own wits or the help of a friend.  The games are hard enough to be challenging but not so hard as to put someone off.  I found that after one sitting, stepping away from the game for a short time helped my solving perspective.

If you want to experience real adventure games in world, visit the city of Lutra and get your detective’s license.  There are mysteries afoot for you there!

R e g i & T y Y I f u : Creative, Diverse and Creations & Love- Seersha Heart Reporting...

In January 2016 I visited LEA Eiffelicious to write a review for an arts magazine.  This build was the Eiffel Tower with two floors of art studios, first floor expansive club area and fantastic music.  The entire build was encased within a snow globe.  The day I landed there I was greeted with a superb dance mix of Blonde’s Heart of Glass.  The entire installation was built by one person.  It was artist and fashionista R e g i   Y i f u.  I also had the great fortune to meet both R e g i and T y.  Within a few moments of meeting them, it was obvious that they share an easy rapport.  They are two ends of a book shelf, working together.  Both Y i f u’s are extremely talented. Regi also DJs in world.  R e g i makes custom voice gestures
[like:Goodbye cruel world! I am leaving Second Life forever!!!!] and T y makes custom mesh lettering and logos.  These talents are but the tip of the iceberg named Y i f u.

The most amazing fact to learn about this couple is that they have been together 6 ½ years now In a world where many romances can barely make a month, this is astounding.  Meeting this couple, you will completely understand how they made it so long.  I can easily see them together many more years.  Each has a phrase in their profile that is an accurate phrase to describe themselves.  For R e g I it is “I am a gregarious bohemian artist from Texas”.  For T y it is “Say hi or not, whatever. :P”.  And in a phrase, those are all you really need to know about each of them.  R e g i released a cookbook IRL titled “A Mouthful of Yum! Cookbook” and I am almost certain the name he chose is a double entendre.  He wrote, photographed and designed the book.  R e g i has an excellent eye for details so I expect this food to be delicious.

Regi has attached a sex engine to these items:*dock * clam * cloud * drift wood * sand * chair * wall * sofa * picnic basket * sand dollar * knuddelfick lounger * twisted sofa * picnic table * pizza * mistletoe * screw * fortune cookie * pool table * car keys * buddy * inferno * pickle * matches * clock * bed * sex bomb * sex button*….and one called  *anywhere*
Let me share the thoughts of this power couple with you today:

Seersha Heart:    I am not going to start off by being cliché and asking you how succeeded in maintaining your relationship for 6 ½ years.  I will just say that it is fabulous, and I look forward to the party!  Congratulations gentlemen.  I do want the answer to one cliché question: Will you tell me the story of how the two of you originally came together?

Regi:I was building a club for Ty and his friend when we met, I loved his wit and charm and decided to keep him! lol

Ty: We actually FIRST met one night when he had an impromptu DJ set at 4am to try out some new tunes. I saw the notice and went because I was bored. He asked me where I was from and when I said Texas he got super excited and started passing me all his gestures that included the word TEXAS lol. The second time was a couple of months later when he built the club and we've been together ever since. He's a very special man, I'm so happy we found each other.

Seersha Heart:    Warehouse 69 is unique in many of the products it carries.  In common, each item has a name that leaves no doubt what the product is used for such as “[list including one I purchased called F##kin’ Get Nailed Anywhere HUD] Sex products with panache.  This store doesn’t carry many of the things you make.  What is your vision for Warehouse 69?  Is there another store?  Where are your products listed on Market Place?

Regi: We love making novelty sex engines like Sex Car Keys, Sex Cloud and Sex Grass to name a few, I also make cloths for the Aesthetic Mesh body. I make fun toys for all to share and custom gestures and DJ Drops and custom items like Cigarettes where the smoke spells your name.

Ty: All of our sex items are on MP under Regimade but a lot of the non- sex stuff Regi makes are given away for free. There's a freebie box at the
Warehouse 69 with a lot of stuff in it. We have some ideas for new sex items bouncing around, stay tuned!

Seersha Heart:  Car keys?  Pizza?  Fortune cookie?  What inspires such unusual sex devices?

Regi: We wanted to make some fun novelty type sex engines.

Seersha Heart:    I am happily aware that R e g i gives great gifts at parties.  I confess to loving the F##knKnuddelfick Lounger he shared at a birthday party!  The two of you throw the most fantastic parties down to the most intricate detail.  On New Year’s Eve you built NYC Times square.  Every detail was constructed from the marques on the faux buildings to the cars and the people in the street, including drunks and a limousine running over Santa.  What have you planned for your anniversary?  [Note Knuddlefick comes from German slang for Cuddle F##k]

Regi: Every year on our anniversary (this year is 7) we rent a sim and either use the TIME SQUARE set or I build a special build. Too early to know what we might come up with this year but I can assure you it will be awesome!!

Ty: We've played around with different ideas over the years but always seem to come back to Times Square. It's an iconic place for NYE and people really seem to enjoy it. So do we!

Seersha Heart:    The Times Square set is fantastic…all the details.  You also have a talent for picking relevant and snappy names.  The last part I attended was called ‘Bashiversary’.  You gave out some gestures in a phone booth with a passed out drunken woman at the floor of it.  Loved it!!  When did each of you begin building in SL?  I notice that Regi came to SL in 2007 and you Ty came a couple years later in 2010.  Do you or did you collaborate on builds?

Regi: I have been building things in SL since 2007 when I first entered this fabulous creative heaven I know as my second home! Typically, I build the larger builds by myself. But Ty is always there for suggestions and finding me anything I need on Marketplace! Ty manages the Regimade Light Gallery and if you have not seen that you should go right now!

Ty: I've built a few sets for Regi's rez day or birthday but he's really the builder of the family. He's able to spend much more time in SL than I am so he's all over it! I really enjoy making mesh logos. If anyone is interested in one they can contact me directly or submit a request through the website vendor at Warehouse 69.

Seersha Heart:    The readers love “how I came to SL” stories.  Will you share yours?

Regi: I was at dinner with friends one night and one of them mentioned he played this fun social game and I should give it a try....needless to say here I am 10 years later. #Addicted

Ty: Well, I blame my Second Life on tequila. I broke bones in both my feet and was sitting around bored as f*** then remembered seeing some story on tv about a Second Life singer. I tried it out not having a clue what to expect. It was kind of weird at first but then I met Regi and it all seemed to fall into place.

Seersha Heart:    Let’s talk about your gallery.  You like to play with light and lighting and you provide instructions for the viewer to set their Windlight.  I have seen a hologram picture floating around of Regi, and there seems to be a never-ending flow to the ideas.  Do both of you create the art displayed in the gallery?  Do you have a “fun” requirement when you are creating?

Regi: One-day Ty was showing me how projectors worked and I ran with it! lol I was curious if the images projected could be colored Red, Blue, and Green and then focused on the same spot would make a full color image just like on a TV, and it worked!!!! So, I built the gallery to showcase photographers from SL.

Ty: We like to display various photographers in the SL community. Some have never had an installation before and some have. We've both shown our own work in the past and are now focused on showcasing more of the extraordinary photography that comes from the Second Life community.

Seersha Heart:    Both of you are very active in SL’s gay men’s community.  Any words of wisdom for the new person to SL on how or where to contact this vibrant community?  Set phasers to pizzazz?

Regi: I would say enjoy everything SL has available. See amazing builds and meet wonderful people from all around the world! SL is always getting better so I just suggest getting out there and finding the things that make you happy while leaving any drama at the curb!!

Ty: I suggest just doing what I did. Search GAY and start sim hopping LOL. Eventually you find your people like I did.

Seersha Heart:    I enjoy speaking to the two of you.  You are both inspirations of the potential in SL for other residents.  Is there anything you would like the readers to know about you, your stores, your parties?

Regi: Well I am just a regular guy... feel free to ask question or just say hi!

Ty:  Just thank you to everyone for all their support through purchasing our sex items or coming to Regi's DJ sets. We truly appreciate it.
These are first run questions; I will probably have small follow ups after these are filled in…I am SO excited to have you in the SL Enquirer…and anything you think of A N Y T H I N G that you want to include that I left out…tell me…it is IN

Regi: Kiss kiss

Saoirse Heart:   Kiss kiss: 😉

There is another stand out feature at Regi and Ty’s events.  Most of the men in attendance are gorgeous.  The detail to their avis to express their personal identity is the best I have seen in SL.  Regi and Ty are beautiful specimens as well.  If you haven’t checked out Warehouse 69, use the SURL below and go.  There is also a LM for the gallery.  I have been in a lot of galleries in SL.  Ty’s is a treat, a little edge, a lot of don’t miss….#FABULOUS

Bloodlines : An RP Success Story - Seersha Heart Reporting...

Celebrating eight years in SL, Bloodlines is the largest and the most popular of the vampire RP currently found in SL.  Bloodlines is a MMORPG played completely within the confines of Second Life.  There are people playing as Vampires, Lycans, Hybrids, Humans and Warriors all around other members of Second Life society as they go about their everyday metaverse lives.  This RP game has not only been on the grid since 2008 but has doubled it’s membership and is an ever evolving dynamic MMORPG experience.

When Bloodlines began in 2008 it was exclusively Vampire only RP [The Thirst].  It is brought to us by a group that was new in game development the time, Liquid Designs.  During the year prior to the release of Bloodlines, Liquid Designs had been making and selling items on Second Life Marketplace.  The most popular items they designed were their vampire accessories.  It was a natural progression for them to investigate and to design RP in this genre.   In a 2009 interview with Wagner James Au, the CEO of Liquid Designs, Mars.Bracken, told him “that the move was because his group sensed a need for goals, structure, and consequences of a RP game to be joined with their products.  He also said it would be an interesting social experiment.  Their group has learned and improved their product through observation of the emergent behavior of the players”.

Liquid Designs has been very observant.  The Lycan component [The Rage] was released about a year after the initial Vampire release.  Then in 2010 The Human HUD was released, then most recently Bloodlines War HUD.  A player can also participate as a “Hybrid” by using both The Thirst and The Rage HUDs.  Liquid Designs maintains a dynamic website with statistics that may literally change at any time.  The top of the main page displays membership in each group, then lists several accomplishments by player and by family.  There are also Gods, Demigods, Royalty, Bloodline and Blood Wealth on display.  This RP has evolved well beyond the original The Thirst.

I caught up with Mars Bracken to talk about where Bloodlines is at the eight year mark to discuss Bloodlines.  I began the questioning first after seeing the statistics of the Blood Doll [The Human] population.  It is over 100 thousand, more than three times the amount of vampires listed.  I was also curious about his thoughts on the growth of the game, which is now double the population it was in 2009.  Joining me now is Mars Bracken:

Seersha Heart: I noticed that Blood Dolls are the greatest population.  What does your team think about that?

Mars Bracken: It’s an interesting development. Since the Vampires and Lycans need victims in order to sustain themselves, a healthy population of Humans or Blood Dolls seems to be a good thing to have. However, it has definitely prompted us to work on more options for the RP; we initially didn’t anticipate such a large Human population, and had originally focused on tools for making the Vampire and Lycan roles possible. It’s been fun to see the game population dynamics change over the years.

Seersha Heart: Has the level [membership] of participation hit a ceiling?  Are new players joining the game?

Mars Bracken: The population is always in flux, but generally those who bow out of the community are replaced by new players interested to join. We’ve had a rash recently of people who originally played in 2009 coming back to participate in the community again, and we still haven’t quite figured out what that’s about. We are having more and larger events now than ever before, so that might have something to do with it.

Seersha Heart:  In 2009, you remarked on the emergent behavior of soul importance becoming prominent.  What emerging behaviors has your team experienced since 2009?

Mars Bracken:  Other than the growth of the Human / Blood Doll population, we’ve definitely seen a shift of priorities. Initially the game was all about getting the most souls or bites, but once we introduced Achievements, the activity in that sector of the game quickly overwhelmed the rest. Admittedly souls and bites are included in some of the achievements, but people definitely seem excited to collect things. In general, with Gacha and Rare items becoming so popular, I’d say that a collector mentality has blossomed in Second Life in general.

Seersha Heart: You have said that the clan structure has become very complex.  Will you share with me what you mean by complex clans?

Mars Bracken: When we first started the game, there was just Vampires, so clans were homogeneous. Then we created Lycans, then Hybrids, and finally Humans. As each population exploded and then found its equilibrium, the composition of clans changed. We’ve also added Roles which can be assigned, so in addition families becoming less homogeneous and more complex in terms of RP dynamics, they’ve also gotten more intricate in their hierarchies.

Seersha Heart:  What would you love our readers to know about Bloodlines?  Do you feel Hunger has presented a serious competition?

Mars Bracken: We’re excited about some new releases coming up, but I can’t talk too much about those. I can say that we’re almost done updating our 5 RP sims, and we’re aiming to have a lot more community events there. Also our weekly parties have gotten kind of massive, partly due to the great DJs and our amazing theme artist AnnaMargeaux, and partly because we’re doing Rare item giveaways now. And we've got a Bloodlines University sim where people can come and take classes and learn about the nuances of the game. All of this of course can be found in notices on our blog at http://blog.slbloodlines.com

Seersha Heart:  Thank you for answering my questions and congratulations on the success of Bloodlines.

Population statistics from the 2009 interview were at approximately 69,000 players with an estimate of 23,000 doing day to day RP.  At the eight year mark there are slightly more than 157,000 players  [Vampires 33K, Lycans 6K, Humans 102K and Hybrids 17K] assuming the same relative relationship that would be an estimated 52,000 doing day to day RP.  Liquid Designs has every right to be excited as their RP continues to evolve and be not only an aspect of Second Life but a force of Second Life nature.
