VMS News: The Bare Bones of It -- Fun, Music & People. (Interview with Bones Writer, creator and owner of TRAX)- Klarissa Huntress Reporting...

Nestled in the middle of a pretty sim is a unique and comprehensive source of live music promotion. This is TRAX, Live Music Resource Center.
TRAX owner and creator, Bones Writer, is a humble man who downplays his remarkable achievements both in Second Life and real life.  His idea for TRAX was to create and promote, “a level playing field where everyone has opportunity and there is no elitism, everybody getting an equal chance to promote and market themselves.”

Bones is a professional musician with thirty years experience in the music industry, as a session player for artists like Jimmy Crespo of Aerosmith, and Billy Idol, or in the thick of a current New York Rock Opera version of Dickens’ “A Tale of Two Cities.

VMS News: Bluemonk Rau : Left off Rte 66, Right into SL- Pen Dragon Reporting...

Many Second Life artists can lay claim to performing their music for live audiences in the real world,  but few can say they have worked with some of the biggest venues and artists in their genre. Fewer artists still can boast 40 years as both a professional performer and recording artist.  Even fewer have the honor of being a founding member of a band that was once voted “L.A.'s Entertainer of the year.” Bluemonk Rau can say all of this and more of himself and his career

VMS News: Saintess Larnia in her Own Words- Thiza Ember Reporting...

The Support
I do remember my first concert at JLC Live. Jay Hurikan gave me my first break, owner of Virtual Music Services! It was mainly acoustic musicians and lots of regular performances. I had totally planned to sing in Second Life - that was my reason for coming here. My music career here is 100% supported by various people and without them; my career wouldn’t be the same. The teams that help me are my manager Lingual Markus, my assistants Teagan Sapphire.

Owen Landar & Tilly Morgath. The massive support from my fan group Saintess Souls who come to many gigs of mine sometimes twice in the same day! It can be very stressful to manage yourself alone.

"I started playing guitar when I was around thirteen years old and I haven't stopped since."

Steely Decosta is a talented musician hailing from the state of Kentucky. I attended his show for the first time at VirtualMusic Services, and was impressed with his vocals and guitar skills. He smoothly transitioned between regular strumming and finger-picking to create a style that is all his own.

VMS News: Guitar Therapy/ Interview with Anek Fuchs Written by Crew Pelliot

Anek Fuchs is an accomplished, well-known musician in Second Life. When I arrived at his show at VirtualMusic Services, he was bantering with the audience before he started playing a little White Stripes for us. The rest of his show was filled with both lively and slower songs as he took us through different music genres and time periods. Near the end, he even included some instrumental songs, improvised on the spot.
In real life, Anek is known as Dave Smith, a singer, musician, and songwriter from Chicago, Illinois

VMS News: Musician Bara Jonson: A Success Story - Angharad Catteneo Reporting...

Bara Jonson

Bara Jonson, a Second Life musician from Ã…hus, Sweden, has one of the greatest real life success stories I’ve encountered. I remember viewing a documentary on his Second Life so it was a treat to catch him live on the Grid. His music is a little alternative rock/country and his acoustic guitar complemented his strong voice. Listening to his performances, it’s easy to tell that Bara’s original songs were inspired by real life experiences.

I interviewed Bara about his music career and his journey to success.
Bara started with music at age seven and continued into his adult years. Around 1997 he took a ten-year break from music to concentrate on a business recruitment company. When the world’s economy took a nosedive in 2007, no one was hiring and as a result, recruitment companies weren’t needed. That was when he first started playing Second Life. The virtual world was a way to take his mind off of real life, although he had no knowledge of the music community within it.

“Well, I didn’t know anything about SL when I started. Then I thought about the idea of connecting a guitar and microphone to SL and maybe I could ‘find a place beside a fire to play for those who stopped by’,” he says of his first experiences in Second Life. Before he knew it, he had won the mediaculture Virtual Music Award of 2008 for Best Artist.
