Ballrooms : Where the Romance Lives - Seersha Heart

“In one kiss, you’ll know all I haven’t said”; Pablo Neruda.  In Second Life, a date at a ballroom is a romantic adventure. It all the romance in one stop; the kisses and the dances of a well-earned night out.  I spend time in ballrooms during the year. This past year has been the most dramatic changes in my SL history. SL has lost two of the top ballrooms in the past year.  One of those was the lovely Rose Theatre Ballroom. In its day, if you asked anyone for the best ballroom “Rose Theatre” was either the first or the second one mentioned.  Angel Manor was a cultural hub of art and performance that is missed. Bogart’s is another loss to the grid. To me, losing Bogarts hurt badly. You could always could on Bogarts.  The walk through the shops to the marquee. At Bogarts you could have the formal stylish surroundings of a traditional ballroom, with an atmosphere that welcomed the single as well as the couples.

SL has retained a couple of “tried and true” ballrooms.  Each providing different opportunities to the visitor. I recommend visiting these ballrooms at different times.  Each one that I am writing about has a wealth of fun to discover provided by the thoughtful and the clever owners.  And as is always true of SL, things change…..a….lot. One of those tried and true is the Avilion ballroom.  Formal dress required, clothing provided, this continues to be a place of magic and of romance.  I find that when I truly want the most romantic possible evening, of all the places on the grid, you will find me at Avilion.  Sometimes I visit alone, walking through, watching other dancers or dance alone. This is a peaceful place with rich colors and lighting that dances around you.  It is a delight to hear romantic music playing, as I ascend the main staircase to the ballroom. There are a couple of nice couples poses along the way. Inside walk to the railing and the ballroom opens in front of you in all directions.  I recommend sunset or midnight lighting. Let your eyes swept the view for a moment, it is in a word spectacular. The older stationary dance pose balls have been replaced with easy to use dance balls and dance hearts. The real magic in this location is that even though you are immersed grand beautiful ballroom, when you look to your date you will realize that he/she is the true beauty in this room.  Simply magical. After the dancing, when you take your date home, if you are not rewarded with the delicious naughty parts, after an evening at Avilion, it will NEVER happen.  This ballroom is the litmus test for a relationship.

Frank’s Place Jazz Club provides different settings for a formal night out.  With Bogarts gone, there remains the Jazz Club and the Elite Jazz Club.  Beyond the sexy sounding jazz, Frank’s hosts DJs and cover band concerts.  I always think of SL Resident and living large personality Johnathan Hiess when I visit Frank’s.  Jonathan is the grid’s cutting edge to music; at Frank’s he DJs, he produces cover band concerts and generates quite a following.  If you are luck to see him in his military dress, that is just a bonus. Frank’s is a place you may meet Mr. Right Now if not Mr. Right.  It is enjoyable to be in a vast room of avis donning their best clothing. Pan your camera around, use your free What is She Wearing HUD and see who is designing these outfits.  See someone who interests you? Go ahead and IM them, that is what people DO at Frank’s so meet, chat and dance.
Foxxies ballroom and Jazz club is a treat.  Beyond the elegant ballroom you will find a hot air balloon ride and a horse drawn carriage.  Explore and be rewarded at this gem. Foxxies has been on the grid for well over nine years. The traffic is lower here than Frank’s so if you want to have some snuggle up, one-on-one time with that special person try the atmosphere at Foxxies.  They also have DJs, music, romantic gardens, waterfalls and several romantic cuddle spots.

How would you like to enjoy some 40s swing dancing?  Teleport to the Creationspark SIM.  This is the SIM created to facilitate knowledge and support for Parkinson’s disease.  None of those limitations of the physical realm in the CP Swing Dance Hall.  A bit more casual that most ballrooms, this one sits in a SIM chock full of things to do beyond dancing.  Start at the main center and you can visit an art gallery and many interesting boutiques for shopping. In the beach and yacht areas you will find romantic hot tubs, sailboats, row boats, windsurfers and more water activities.  There are swimming animations, tubes and a waterslide. Bring your free Dutchie’s wearable towel to dry off.  Explore the vast expanse of the underwater paradise.  Truly vivid colors and interesting sea life to be found throughout.  I love the underwater paradise! Finish your visit at the Celestial Realm visiting the Spiritual Circles in the sky.
There are some other great places for an elegant night out on the grid.  Phat Cats Jazz Club Ballroom has a very romantic feeling and host live music.  Regency ballroom is one of those that provides clothing for those who don’t have a formal outfit.  A nice up and comer ballroom, I hope they get more traffic to enjoy what the offer to the visitor.  Many of the ballrooms on the Second Life search are not at their locations any more. Before that special date, make sure the ballroom exists before going out.  Save yourself the last minute fumble of finding a replacement location.

Take a moment and sift through your messy inventory.  Do you have a couple nice formal outfits? It is worth the time to make a couple.  It is a great treat to go out in SL to a nice romantic ballroom where in the arms of that special someone you may lose yourself, if only for a while, life can be magic, let it.

Love is in the air - Lacy Muircastle reporting ....

Skiing Powder Tropical a relatively new, exclusive sim, dedicated to playing cupid, invites you to come and see what they are all about.

As you rezz in to the sim you are greeted by a pair of statuesque Giraffe.  Make sure your sound option is on, as the background noises of crashing waves and birdsong are realistically soothing.  You will immediately notice that the sim owner, Skiing Powder, has an exceptional eye for detail and all the items on the sim are of the highest quality available in SL.

If you have a penchant for photography, the sim offers two great photo studios to use free of charge. One is a Mesh studio and the other a Memories studio. It is recommended that you dance on the oversized piano keys.

You can bring your significant other to swim in the tropical seas or you can walk hand in hand along miles of artistic oceans, beaches and dunes.  Adult fun is to be found all over the sim, from piers, gazebos, a canopy, rafts, hammocks, beach beds, outdoor showers, to couples hearts dance/sex animators.

They also off the best rezzers for; Speedboats, Hot Air Balloons, Jetskis and Gliders in SL.   Flying and rezzing is unrestricted.

The three open houses, each with hot tubs and top of the grid beds (Loversplayground beds) are available for your use.  Make the picturesque climb up the famous swaying bridge to the tree house, it’s an adventure all of its own, go on we dare you.   Or explore the romantic villa from Venice Italy, which is right on the water.  The Tiki house on mountain has incredible 360 degree views of the sim with privacy curtains.

To add to the romantic ambiance of the sim there are several water fountains and water shows in the water throughout the parcel.

Skiing Powder is the owner of the sim has an art history background and she studied in Paris France. She currently lives in New England and is involved in the arts scene there.  She began SL as an escape from the world of the concrete jungle. Her curiosity had been piqued after reading an article about SL. She observed “To be anonymous is a drug.”

She said of her time in SL “From noob to noob helper from scared and stupid to knowledge is power. SL is an International community of people looking and experiencing things through anonymity that they may have never experienced before. It’s a blast if you don’t take it too seriously and have fun with the fantasy. MMORPG is still relatively new to the universe and I am looking forward to the next phase of virtual reality. I loved building the sim. I started from scratch 3 times this year. I returned all items at once and got to work to making it better. That moment when you hit the button and everything disappears and returned to your inventory and you look around and there is nothing and total silence, my hair stood up, I cried but was determined to make it better starting totally from scratch. This is Skiing Powder Tropical 4.0 now.”

Ski remembers how frustrated she was when she first started in SL, not being allowed to fly on certain sims, never being allowed to open shopping bags, continually flying into ban lines, getting poofed out by security systems and the terrible laggy sims.  Which is why she owns her own sim and has done so for over four years.   She enjoys SL for socialising, the community, the arts and the fantasy.  She decided she wanted to have a sim to create a fantasy beach world which is luxuriously appointed and which had stunning art.  A place she wanted to visit. In RL she is a snow skier and she loves the mountains hence her name Ski, but when at home she wants to escape into the fantasy world that is SL.  She is now offering you the opportunity to have the same experience.

You will not be met any form of group joining spam, greeter bot or notices of any kind.  The sim is not just a dating venue, it is a place many call home.  The sim is somewhere you can bring your date, significant other and friends to play and relax.

And the sim is available to for the entire SL Community.  The focus is on an audience with a taste for beauty, elegance, and romance that the resort speaks to. Members are assured of a 6 star luxury experience at this tropical beach spa.

The sim is open 24/7.  The venue will be hosting Midnight beach parties once a month which will be open to all, as well as a Couples only midnight beach party, once a month.  Plus Friday parties for all and Saturday parties for couples only.  Don’t miss the holiday season at Skiing Powder Tropical Resort and Spa is spectacular.

Looking for Romantic Places in Second Life?- Tea Couturier Reporting...

When you and your partner wish to go out and spend a little quality time together it can be hard finding that one place where you can be romantic with one another
Well never fear I have a small selection of venues which I feel will enable you to find a quiet spot to have fun and spend some romantic time together.

Stars Romantic Dance Club

Here you can dance under the stars just you and your partner (also with other couples) It is set on a beach but as you walk up the steps to approach the club it cannot be mistaken for a beach venue. The venue is set up lovely with a well-stocked intan full of dances. When I went there it was quiet. That is a good thing for those of you seeking to spend some quality time together in a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.

Oceana Romantic Ballroom

If you’re looking for a bit more of a formal venue this is a great venue to visit. Set near the ocean the Oceana is a perfect getaway for lovers, with its formal ballroom and romantic spots. It has many intans dotted around the dance floor.

INTIMATE ROMANCE GARDEN

This is one of my favorite venues in SL and a place you and your partner should definitely visit. This venue has two places where you and your partner can go. The dance floor when you arrive or to the ballroom. I would advise formal dress once in the ballroom for both you and your partner.

Grind
Grind supposed to be the place where couples are king. A more of a modern venue where non formal clothing is needed. It is owned by the AEG Ambrosia Entertainment Management Super group. It is a venue where it is all about the music and having fun.

These are just a few places you can visit for some romantic quality time with your significant other.
