Spotlight on the Meeting of the Minds. Sunny Love Holiday Reporting.

Do you enjoy discussing current events or topics that effect our modern society, but hate when things get heated and neither point of views are truly heard?
Are you longing for a beautiful gathering area where great minds can learn from one another with respect?

Well of you answered yes to either of those questions, I don’t think there is a better discussion group in Second Life to enjoy good conversation with the respect your view deserves. Let me introduce to you  The Meeting of the Minds.

Recently I was invited to visit the Meeting of the Minds welcome center by the creators of this group, Starr Zackerly, and Timantti Vesiputous. I was pleasantly surprised by the warm and community like atmosphere.  I instantly felt comfortably, and was greeted quickly with a warm smile. Once granted access to the discussion venue, I felt positive vibes as I enjoyed the wonderful landscaping and Décor that I am sure was created with the great idea of keeping things warm, light hearted and fun.

After a lovely walk, we reached the discussion stage where most topics are covered, and I was more than happy to see two large you tube style television that allow you web access to pull up any proof you may need to prove your point. This discovery brought me such excitement I couldn’t wait to sit them down and find out more about this wonderful group.

Interview with Timantti

Sunny: When did the meeting of the minds begin and how did it come about?

Timantti : The Meeting of the Minds was created on May 11th of 2014. It started when Starr and I discussed trying to make a discussion and debate venue similar to the paltalk room we had met each other in. Starr also was inspired by her experience with the community at The O Lounge.

Sunny: How does one become a member?

Timantti : Anyone can join the group when they arrive at the Welcome Center by clicking on the gnome near the entrance.

Sunny: Are there any membership fees? If so how much and what is the purpose of the fee?

Timantti : There is a $100 Linden membership fee. The fee helps keep the group comfortably sized and adds some protection from others who aren't interested in having discussions.  All of the proceeds go directly to maintaining the venue.

Sunny: I like how this Group cover a wide range of subjects, are there any subjects that are taboo?

Timantti : There is no subject too taboo for us! We love to learn about and discuss new perspectives. We want people to feel save to bring up any topic for serious debate and discussion.

Sunny: Since you are discussing topics that people are most likely going to disagree with and many have strong feelings about….how do u keep the atmosphere friendly?

Timantti : We work as a community to maintain respect. When people begin to react emotionally we offer a queue board to help everyone stay on topic and have their opinions heard by the rest of the group.

Sunny: Can you briefly explain how the queue board works?

Timantti : Yes, the queue board gives structure to the discussions when the conversation gets emotional. Once someone clicks the queue button their name appears on the board and it allows them 2 minutes to make their point before it’s the next persons turn.  We also have media boards so that people can display websites or videos to support their arguments.

Sunny: Yes I see and really like that. Also you have another way for discussion to be held called the round table.  Can you briefly explain it works?

Timantti : The round table was a concept designed by our admin Catalina. At the round table 2-4 people have the opportunity to have a moderated debate. These are for more structured and formal debates, where the audience would listen and comment after it's finished.

Sunny: You also have a wonderful lady by the name of Myrraiel that holds Biological Anthropology lectures as well. Please tell our readers a little about that?

Timantti : Myrraiel is working on her MA and has offered to share her knowledge with us.  Each Friday she leads a discussion on a topic related to Biological Anthropology. Topics include sexuality, evolution and genetics.

Sunny: This sim is beautiful and looks like has a lot of neat gathering areas, Please explain one or two of them for us.

Timantti: We have a beautiful campfire area. It’s equipped with video viewers so you can share songs and clips while you relax.  The campfire is great for fun and casual conversations. Then we have a fishing hole that features CC's Custom Creations for 7seas fishing. There's also a mermaid oasis under the water and a garden full of fun surprises that you can find by rezzing a boat.

Sunny: What would be the best way for our readers to learn more about this excited group?

Timantti : They can learn more about us on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/MotMSL.  We also have a video on youtube that explains what we do at Meeting of the Minds and shows a walkthrough of the venue.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQuqX491qic

Sunny: I have had a wonderful time today. Thank you for showing me around and enlighten me. It was a pleasure to meet all of you.

Timantti: Thanks so much for stopping by.  We have more events and discussions planned, hopefully you can stop by again and get into the debate. Take care and stop by anytime!

Avie Poll: What is Everyone’s Favorite SL Summer Activity? Carrisa Silverfall Reporting

Even though September has begun we are still enjoying those last few days of summer fun and we wanted to know what do some of you do with your SL Summer?  Do you look for romance, seek out a new adventure like a role play sim, play some beach volleyball or simply sit in the sand enjoying the warmth of the sun? Or maybe you did all of the above and more…

Pamela Fishnet and Mimikrii are just a couple of people who like others, gather up your families and enjoy some wonderful quality time together.  For some our RL Summer time is about 2 or 3 months long and before you know it your children are starting High School or heading off to College.  Big changes ahead for your family, therefore making your summer full of activities that will be remembered for years to come is one of your most valuable treasures.  Check out Rasta sand – Surf, chill, have some ice cream at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Mama%20Allpa/68/169/24.

While others are busy especially in the spring time with horses, dogs, and cats, having babies. BellaRuse58 enjoys racing horses, breeding them and in general enjoying the horse community.   You can check out her horses at Garifuna Stables & Market**ABC Horse and Pony Sales http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Pelican%20Cove/180/110/21.  This is a great way to teach children about animals and to learn responsibility, plus who doesn’t adore a furry little baby puppy, kitten and pony!

Lots of people love to gather around a bond fire or start heating up the outdoor grill to enjoy those summer treats like toasted marshmallows, bbq and adding their favorite liquor to ice tea or lemonade.  While enjoying each other’s company seems to be the first priority for everyone, swimming, hot tubs and waterfalls are a welcome reprieve from the heat of the sun.

Listening to music with friends and loved ones is another very popular past time in Second Life as some dance away as the sunsets other sit back just enjoying the moment is what FunkyGirl Neox does at Relax Club http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Lunar%20Sky/204/69/24.  People in SL love to listen to remixes from their favorite Dee Jay to hear a new spin on some old favorite tunes!  There are certainly all kinds of music in Second Life to explore and maybe even find a new favorite style of music.

While others get busy working on their SL business, putting together a beach and dance club area for all to enjoy like Pierre Balehawk of BNDC Club and Apartments http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Luissa/89/25/67.  Many of us decide to start up a business in SL and test the financial market waters of SL.  Which can be a precursor of starting up an RL business, as it’s a great way to learn how involved it may be to have your own company.

Exploring Second Life is what we all do, especially in the summer when beach sims popup and jungles arise, while others form their own Role-Play sim with like-minded individuals.  It is a great way to learn new things, meet new people and take some time off from RL especially if you don’t have time to go on an actual holiday.

Yes Second Life people love ”soaking up the virtual sun” like Love Trill of FabFree and taking the time to enjoy loved ones company at the beach, walking through a jungle and creating memories to cherish later on, just like your RL Summer activities!

Zero Hour Arrives in Second Life!!! The Space Time Continuum Fluctuates…

A cry for help is heard in the distance, as a griefer hits a sim, a city plunged into chaos, a planetary grid on the verge of destruction.

These are just a few of the scenarios that can play out within Second Life (SL).

Second Life citizens are seeing many hero groups phase in an out.  Which groups are real?

Well…The ***Justice League of America*** (JLA) has become a “premiere group” of veteran heroes; formed for the express purpose of bringing together Peace keepers & DC Comic enthusiasts under a collective identity.

The group coordinates its activities out of an Orbital Space Station (location granted to members); but is found frequently at the Aftermath Sim – Hall of Justice:   http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Unabated/131/122/2022

Many other DC multi-verse “iconic” locations are visited as well – Metropolis, Gotham City, Stately Wayne Manor,  The Joker's Carnival of Chaos, Hall of Justice, the Justice Society of America HQ, Oa - Sector Station& even The Tower of Dr. Fate.  These locations promote the classic genre-based locales, within DC Comics context, and allows our members to immerse themselves within their parts.
The ***Justice League of America*** will assist in promoting “free” safety advice & security  for all SL Residents & raise charity contributions through volunteer events within Second Life.  We house a strong social calendar & even RP events.  “Member Content” is always being developed & launched by talented writers & builders; within the Second Life community.  A detailed Member Charter was created to ensure fairness and creativity.  This establishes a strong sense of ownership amongst its members.

We believe in SL & RL balance; we're looking for creative & organized people; heroes who can make a supportive difference & understands the Second Life (SL) Terms of Service (TOS) created by Linden Lab.
Think this is another average group?  Better think again!

This group has a strong catalog of “Veteran Players”, who have finally come together to form a premiere group of exciting and extremely fun content for a meaningful Second Life experience.

if you're looking for a mature and well-rounded group of heroes to help make a difference, within Second Life.....Apply & interview at our website to learn more.

Your search has ended; your adventure is about to begin!

In search of History: “Mexico in three times” Bimala Tagore Reporting

Let me introduce you to “Mexico in three times”, an important documentary dedicated to the Centennial of the Mexican Revolution. Intelligent film reported by prominent Mexican voices, it enhances animated maps and artistic paintings. This film develops an enriching critical vision of crucial moment in history of Mexico in general charge of Enrique Krauze, writer for the International New York Times and Clio editorial director.

Krauze was responsible for the writing vision and mission of this documentary it tries to explain the gradual process of decline of powerful Spanish monarchies and how Mexico claimed his independence. The sudden “power vacuum” in 1808, caused by Napoleon's invasion of Spain, would be the opportunity of autonomy of Mexico. This situation opened the door for Mexicans to reach their independence The first rebellions were severely repressed and this documentary reflects this troubled historical moment with an impeccable script movie in charge of Greco Sotelo and directed by Juan Prieto.

Is relevant to this libertarian cause the Miguel Hidalgo’s conspiracy”, important figure who left the debate of freedom and summoned the people into rebellion. The scrip movie, wrote by Laura Emilia Pacheco and David Macareño, show how this leader defended a territory in hunger and poverty, dependency being the main reason for this and the valuable legacy that has ever been left to man: respect of the sovereign rights of countries.

This film - through a deep historical analysis – develops the most concerned ages of Mexico emancipation. Also the sim where the film will be screened is perfectly set in a traditional fair of Mexico. Even if you don’t understand Spanish you would feel absolutely astonished by the quality of this presentation. It includes gastronomical details such as exquisite variety of “mole” to guest, a detour dance dedicated to the moon, paving stone and colonial paintings of renowned Mexican artists.

This documentary is a significant opportunity to know other culture in Second Life.  The land, called “Pabellon de la Cultura”, is deeply tied to Mexican national identity and regional culture this time.  This is other way to experience Mexican past without having to take a long plane flight. I felt in Mexico few seconds and almost saw the spirit of Octavio Paz whispering in my ear ancient secrets.  You can travel via teleport, without ever leaving your comfortable seat.

I really recommend this place and opportunity to face century old reality. This is a supranational perspective from the historian and you could understand how Mexico played an important role in the Latin American independence.  These documentaries provide a synopsis of one hundred years liberation efforts and also includes of several visual arts that developed over the geographical area and Mexican war of independence.

Arts and culture are an integral part of society in Mexico. You will although watch early and late murals in hands of Rivera, Orozco among others. The paints work reveals this rebellious character and the art of storytelling trough images. They are stunning Mexican print art work. These arts crudely follow the history of Mexico. Become a part of this cultural event. For those of us who really love this “game” called Second Life, the realization of any event like this depends on the community.

This goes out to the Haters of Second Life who just love to say things about me. Would you like a little Hateraid to help you swallow this jagged pill? – Lanai Jarrico Reporting…

How to Poke fun at the Nonsense:

As I sit back and write this all I can do is laugh at the middle school antics that occurs on a daily basis between people who like to talk about me and others in Second Life. Things always get back to me so I am fully aware of what is being said. Let me entertain you all with a few of the things that got back to me in recent days.

Let’s begin with my favorite. Apparently I am a whore who sleeps around to get to where I am at in Second Life. The only thing I can say about that is thank goodness that SL sex is 100% birth control or I would have a united nation of prim babies running around with no baby daddy listed as my partner or helping me run The SL Enquirer.  Aside from that, It took me 9 long years and I am just exhausted already having to do work laying on my back or up on my hands and knees. Someone get me an ice pack and some knee pads pleeeease!

What I am wondering is, how exactly does prim sex help me in anyway unless I am in desperate need of reporting news inside my own SL bedroom? I guess to each his own right?  If all the guys, furries, trannies, women, bots, animals and plants out there that bedded me decide to speak out, go right ahead!  I forgot to get your number. I might want to call you again. Just remember, you can’t stay for breakfast.

The next piece of shittalk I’ve heard was, I’m too busy and I bail on projects. The “being too busy” part is absolutely true. I’m a pretty busy person working with people who want to work with me unless I’m off sleeping around like some insist I am doing lol….

Bailing on projects. Hmmm, sure I have done that a few times. It wasn’t because I was being lazy.  Some of it had to do with the person or people I had to work with who expect too much of me or overstepped what I was willing to do.

The other reason for having to bail is because I had real life things to attend to.  Either way, in Second Life, ideas happen and sometimes they never take off. If that was all my fault then I apologize for that.

Having a real life may be a surprise to some people who forget to clean their house or feed their family because they are too hooked on Second Life. Crucify me for being a no- show due to real life.

Another rumor that strikes me as odd is that I use people. Use them for what? Prims or content to put in my paper, that more than likely benefits them?  Anything else I need I can get on my own.  Come on Hater, you’re killing. What else ya got?

In Second Life, you cannot take from anyone that is not willing to give you their time, lindens, objects or whatever else. So, this one seems to be a failed attempt at reaching for BS to pin on me.

The next one truly makes me laugh. According to a source close to me with “Lanai gossip meeting” connections let me know that there are a couple media sources in Second Life who are a bit ass hurt that The SL Enquirer received the Avi Choice award for favorite media source in 2013. They are complaining that SLE didn’t deserve it.

Well, let me stand up on my soap box in all my glory with my award and say this, I didn’t vote for myself and I wasn’t even at the ceremony due to real life. That award could have been handed to them if they worked hard enough and their readers weren’t voting for me.

Good luck this year to all media sources! If I don’t receive it, then I am happy for the media source that does. I understand the hard work put into media and the commitment needed so more power to them if they get to place that award in their media center for all to see.

Crowns and titles are not my motivation to do what I do, the fans are and well…they voted so I suggest the haters should go complain to all of them.

Last but not least… rumor has it that I’m a bitch. Well I sure as hell can be when I need to go ice cold on someone.  I’m not going to sit back and not speak my mind when I have something to say or dislike how I’m being treated.  Why should I have to deal with people who love to dish out their BS and expect someone to kiss their ass?  Got a problem with me? Email me or show up at the media center. Otherwise look like an e-punk and run to someone else.

I make no apologies for having to cut someone off or go off on who deserves it. Otherwise the only opinions that matters to me are from the people who know me best and have worked alongside me through the years.  I have to admit, it has been an amazing journey with the right people and they know who they are.

With that said, the next time one of those haters of Second Life decides to place my name in their conversations, they should make sure they are making an accurate statement and most importantly be aware of  whom they are sharing it with.  The worst backfire is that person just relaying the message back to me, while making fun of the hater.

Not everyone is going to like what I do.  Big deal, all I can do is move forward and keep company that is worth having.  I know I can’t please everyone. Some people are just disgruntled unhappy folks that need a swift kick in the ass to get any kind of emotion out of them.

Just remember if you are a hater,. unless you are a perfect saint with no faults, you have no business judging or hating on others. Do yourself a favor.  Shut up and worry about your own life and what you do. One day you may find yourself on the other end of the stick without a voice as loud as mine.  So to the haters, if you approach me and need something and your name is on my list of haters, you will know exactly where it will get you.

I understand as long as there is a need for conversation, there will be a need for gossip. For as long as I could remember Second Life has been the perfect forum for anonymous haters talking about others. Some get away with the things that they say and others receive the same foul tongued display that they shoveled out.

One of the things I realized being on the foul end of the stick by people who think they know me or pretend to be my friend is, as long as people mention my name ,good or bad, I am creating some kind of stir rather than being forgotten and unheard of.  So keep spreading my name across the grid, it is free advertising for me.

Even people who I have considered friends have plunged a knife in my back and still gracefully greet me with a smile. That’s ok fake hater. The way I see it is, when I log out at night I can lay back against my soft pillow and fall fast asleep knowing that I have poured hard work and dedication into what I have built in Second Life. I do what I love. Plain and simple and my true friends are a part of my SL experience.

The fake ones who stand on the sidelines squandering their time making me the topic of conversation are wasting away opportunity to do something that they can be proud of.  Instead, they focusing on what the next person is doing and trying to belittle them.  I call this the crab in the bucket syndrome. All they do is climb on top of everyone else to try to get ahead. The one thing I cannot stand is fake people or half assed friends. If you can’t keep it real, than keep it moving.

For the most part I do what I do and if people don’t like it, then they can put in their own efforts to find a better solution that doesn’t include SLE. Either way, hating on me because of the position I’m in, only shows jealousy and envy.

To the haters that smirk on that comment and try to deny their motives. Take a chill pill and ask yourself, what is the purpose for your foul comments? Do you think it will make me crumble like a house of cards or only make me stronger?

 You choose your poison.

Just remember the minute you need me or SLE, I won’t be there to help you. I’ll be too busy working on projects and being involved with people who contribute something positive to the SL community.
