Happy 4th Rez Day Persia Bravin - Lanai Jarrico
Lanai and Persia taking on King Kong in October, 2009. |
Dear Persia,
Since we met and worked together, I knew you would continue to be a driving force in virtual world media. You are a great leader in all that you do and I'm so proud of your accomplishments and continued contribution to the Second Life community .
Beauty, knowledge and experience being some of your best qualities, you have a great sense of humor and all around great person to know. I can ramble on about all the adventures we got into through the years, from going to concets and events to witnessing you slapping the bujesus out of Philip Linden by accident. In 7 years, that was one of the most memorable moments I had. Thank you for that. You truly are like a virtual sister and a riot to know . I wish you a Happy 4th Rez day and many more great years ahead. BTW Welcome to the Cougar club! After 4 years you will begin to question if you are a virtual world junkie or an expert...
Opps 4th! |
Cheers!
xoxo Lanai

The Greatest Gift- Persia Bravin Reporting...
Staff Reporter • Saturday, November 06, 2010 |
Big hearted musicians in Second Life have turned into Santa’s little helpers, helping to raise funds for scores of underprivileged children this Christmas.
Christmas comes but once a year and this yuletide, the generous music community of Second Life are hoping their incredible talents and combined hard work will help put a smile on the faces of thousands of children in dire real life situations. A dazzling new Christmas themed CD featuring the work of over sixty SL based musicians is due to be launched on November 1st with 100% of the proceeds being donated to the venerable ‘Toys for Tots Foundation’ which was conceived back in 1947 by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Over the past 63 years, it has managed to raise funds to purchase a staggering 81.3 million toys valued at more than $487 million and given joy to countless generations of children from impoverished families or those living in care. This is actually the second year that this CD has been produced in world, but the organisers are optimistic that this year, they can break last year’s record of 1062 CD's sold and 1.6 million Lindens raised for this worthwhile cause.

FASHION - Fashion With Compassion- The Black and Blue Fair runs until July 4th and a new fair called ‘The Summer of Love’ opens on July 18th- Persia Bravin Reporting...
Staff Reporter • Monday, June 28, 2010 |
For most of us, fashion offers us a chance for self expression-and a little fun. Clothes reflect our mood, attitude to life and how we want to be perceived by others and there’s no greater thrill than a lengthy shopping spree to lift the spirits and make the day seem just that little bit brighter. Even in Second Life, ask any woman how she likes to spend her free time and well earned Linden Dollars and chances are, her answer will be a full on assault of the grids finest boutiques. But for one woman, Second Life fashion provides more than a fun diversion; for her it is a vehicle of positive change and a tool to highlight awareness of some very real life issues that can affect any of us at any time in our lives.
Keira Seerose is a self confessed fashion lover, but a debilitating health problem means that in real life, she doesn’t get many opportunities to indulge in her passion. Keira suffers from acute social anxiety disorder, a condition which leaves people anxious in social situations and can strike without warning in either childhood or as an adult. While most people in her situation would hide away, Kiera decided to use the fashion world of Second Life as a platform to highlight mental and emotional illness-a subject that even now, can be taboo despite an estimated 450 million people suffering from some form of mental health issue worldwide. Moved by these statistics, Keira decided to launch ‘The Black and Blue Fair’ a fashion event organised in partnership with some of the grids top designers to help raise awareness-not funds-and to encourage SL residents to think about mental health issues in a new light.

SPOTLIGHT FEATURE: Steve Beck- The Model Maker- Persia Bravin Reporting...
Monday, May 17, 2010-
Ask any woman in Second Life what her most treasured possession held in inventory is and chances are it won’t be the extensive collection of shoes, love letters from ardent suitors or even special photographs, but something far more basic, yet central to a woman’s identity-her shape.
In our virtual world, the shape you choose to wear gives reveals vital clues about our real life tastes far more than any other accessory. It is ultimately what defines how others see us, reflecting how we want to appear in our pixilated world. There are thousands of shape designers in Second Life and as a keen social observer (ok-nosy journalist) I can now enter a room and after a quick scan, match shapes to designers in seconds. While the majority of shape makers stick to producing wave upon wave of standardized variants on your typical ‘model’ silhouette, one man has very cleverly, used real life scientific research into what constitutes classical ‘beauty’ and transferred it into SL to produce a breathtakingly beautiful selection of shapes.
