GeekSpeak – Can we cheat Death? Join the discussion on Saturday, February 10th at 12pm SLT

Will we soon be able to prolong our lives, even perhaps live forever? By uploading our minds to computers, slowly replacing our organic neurons with silicon chips, buying or stealing young organs from others, reversing the degeneration caused by aging, or freezing our bodies?  How many methods of cheating death will become available?

Would cheating death in these ways be wise, or moral?  Would you want to live forever?  Are you afraid you might be forced to live forever even if you wanted to die?

Join us in GeekSpeak on Saturday at noon SLT to discuss what all this will mean for humanity.  Bring all your friends!  It’s a matter of life and death!

IM Vulcan Viper teaches a meditation class every Wednesday in the GeekSpeak auditorium if you have ideas for new subjects.

AVIE POLL QUESTION: What is the funniest thing you ever witnessed in Second Life? Share your story!

Hey, friends and SLE fans! I hope you are having a lovely weekend!

It’s been a while since I randomly interrupted your regularly scheduled Second Life

and I hope I’m not being a pain in the prim.

Still, I was wondering if you were interested in participating in a new AVIE POLL section

I want to introduce SLE readers based on the stories I collect from you, the readers!

SLE will ask a question once a week and if you have something to share just submit it through this form link with your screenshot proof if you took a pic! You can remain anonymous or share your name it is entirely up to you!

At the end of the form, you can also make suggestions on other topics and questions you would like to see addressed by the SL community.  Let's make this interesting!

GeekSpeak SL - if you were President of Planet Earth what would you do first? Join the Duscussion Saturday March 12, 2016 12pm SLT

Imagine that you are the ruler of the whole planet and no one can stop you from doing what you want.  What would you do to steer Spaceship Earth?  Would you solve the climate crisis or subsidies the oil companies?  Would you do away with borders?  Or build walls everywhere?  Bring people back to school or let them dumb down?  Outlaw all dangerous and independent thought?  Or make sure that every opinion is heard?  Would you try to make everyone equal or allow everyone to make money if they want to?  Or could you do both?

Maybe you think that there is little a President can do.  After all, you still have to deal with other people.  Perhaps no one (unless they have magic powers) can do all that much.  How powerful can a simple, mortal ruler be?

Come and share your master plan for humanity with us!  Or tell us why nothing much can be changed

I hope to see you at the discussion!

Geek Speak SL: If (or when?) Second Life disappears what will you do? Discussion March 5th at 12pm SLT

Strong communities have formed in SL, people who would never have found each other in RL have become good friends in SL.  Some of us, for various reasons, find meeting people and enjoying life easier in SL than in RL.

What will happen to us as SL residents when Second Life is replaced by Project Sansar or when LL goes bankrupt?  Will you give up living in a virtual world and return to RL?

Or will you move to another virtual world?  Will that feel like moving to another country, or another universe, where all the rules are different? Will SL communities form again in other worlds?  Will you be the same person?  Is it time for a 'universal avatar' so that you can always be the same person in any world?  Should we start preparing now for the end of SL?  How would we prepare?  By making mailing lists?

Come and talk to us about the first great virtual refugee crisis on the internet.

Join host Erik Goff for a discussion on these questions.

Geek Speak is a science and technology discussion platform where residents across the grid can join in on a variety of topics every week!

Matters to Us All- Virtually Speaking- Sarahelisebeth Brenham Reporting…

Whether we realize it or not, we are all connected by something. Read on to learn about a group that presents discussions on matters that pertain to everybody.

Virtually Speaking is a group that was formed in 2007 by Widget Whiteberry, Jay Ackroyd and Stuart Zaurak, to inform the community on current events that are happening in a wide range of topics. This gang holds discussions via radio station and is streamed on their website and at their location in Second Life.

I had the privilege on being invited to the clique’s next affair.
