SL’s Roulette - Where Every Spin is a Winner: Josh (Thomas1 Bellic) Reporting

One of the really neat things about life on the grid is I get the chance to meet many of the movers and shakers who help to make SL the wonderful and creative place it is.  Artists of all genres and creative styles contribute their magic to this Grid we call home.

Some of these artists build with pixels, some with words, and some manage to weave their tapestries with music and prose – The Musicians of SecondLife.  I was fortunate enough the other day to happen upon one of the hottest vocalists to hit the SL Music Scene in years…Miss Roulette.  Rou’s music is not just entertaining, but it also manages to life the spirit with her inspired lyrics and harmonies.  I was fortunate enough to meet up with Rou one day and she graciously consented to answer a few of my questions about her and her art.

Josh (Thomas1 Bellic) (JB):     Rou, your music is truly inspired. Tell us, please, how did you get started as a musician, and when?

Roulette Brown (RB):     I got started on 2/1/25. This was my very first live performance and I was booked by a very trusting SL Cheerleader to sing live at her wedding after she heard me sing in local personally. Huge thank you to the Tenwe's (Mirore & Ealwen) for trusting me for this very special occasion. With a little help from family and friends, I was on the right track with what I needed as far as software and stream.

JB:     Where do you hail from, Rou, and how did you ever discover and get involved in the SecondLife music scene?

RB:     I was born and raised in Miami, FL but my background is Jamaican and Haitian. I originally started off wanting to be a wedding singer but my nephew Jordan Brown suggested I should be a Live singer in general. I had no clue that there was a music scene the whole 5 years I have been on SL! So he took me to some live shows where I saw people like Steph Sinatra, Micheal Live and Coralie. I was impressed that this was a thing so I ventured out venue hopping to see different performers. Such great talent on SL.

JB:     What was the inspiration for the songs you perform?

RB:     Music in general is my inspiration. Dealing with traumatic stuff in my real life, music saved my life in a sense. I started singing when I was nine years old and doing Poetry at ten. I started writing my thoughts and emotions down to avoid suicidal thoughts and turned them into songs.

JB:     What is your preferred musical genre’ and what type of guest would most enjoy your sets?

RB:     I like all genre but my preferred is R&B, Country, Pop, Rock, and Alternative. All guests would enjoy my set because of my versatility. I sing something for everyone. No one is left out.

JB:     To really stand out in the SL Music scene, you have to have something special about your performances. How would you describe the brand that you now represent, and how do you define your music style?

RB:     I make every song my own, adding my own touch of riffs and runs, even changing the key to sing it my own way. I take popular songs and sometimes turn them into slow renditions to showcase my vocal range. Also, I have stage effects and make sure to dance to make it a party. It all depends on the venue and the listeners. I take requests to ensure the people are hearing what they love.

JB:     You sound like a professional. Do you perform in RL as well, or are you exclusively entertaining the SL community?

RB:     I am an artist in real life and I go by the name "Ntrigue". I have songs out currently on Spotify, Youtube, Apple Music, Soundcloud, etc. My preferred Genre in real life is R&B and Hip Hop / Rap. This is most preferred in my community. I have performed at local Hip Hop Clubs in Orlando and Tampa. I now perform exclusively on SL due to real-life obligations such as work and school. Being a Nursing Student going for my Bachelors in Nursing seems to take up most of my time now.

JB:     What stages have you been on? What is your biggest accomplishment since becoming a live singer?

RB:     I have performed for SL22B and will soon be on the SL Mutiverse Fair stage. I have also done many Relay For Life Shows and Charity events including the upcoming "ACS Funday" and  "I Pink I Can". I have been on many stages such as Sea Serenity, Ce La Vie, Miyami Lyrical Lounge, Blue Velvet, Copa Live, L'Alhambra, The Night Owl, G's Juke Joint and Love Kats. My accomplishments are I have been to Second Life Jams in real life (SL Toronto Jam in Canada May 2025 and upcoming OKC Jam in October 2025). I was also a nominee for "Best SL Live Singer / Vocalist of the Year" for the 2025 Dope Awards. I look forward to more accomplishments in the future.

JB:     Do you post your schedule of events, and how might someone interested in hearing you learn where you are performing next?

RB:     I do post my schedule of events on my profile, and it is open to the public. Someone can learn where I am performing next by either joining my SL Music group "~Rou-Nited Souls~", or by searching the name "Rou" under the events tab on Second Life.

JB:     Do you have any Social Media Sites you would care to share?

RB:     Certainly, Josh.  They can find my original songs (Ntrigue) via my account on

Other info is available on:

JB:     Is there anything else you would like to say to our SL enquirer readers?

RB:     I am a live singer who sings at Weddings, Birthday Parties, Baby Showers, Grand Openings, Surprise Proposals, Memorial Services, Vacations and more. Any event you have in mind, I am your person! Reach out to me directly for booking info and rates. I am looking forward to meeting and working with you and your team!

So there you have it, my friends.  Direct from the Siren's mouth.  Check out Rou at any of the sites listed above.  Visit the clubs ad venues she mentions for a truly magical experience. Make it a point to grab some dance floor at her next concert.  Believe me when I tell you that you will be sooooo very glad you did.

And when you do, tell ‘em Josh sent ya.  You’ll be glad you did.

Be there! Aloha!

JB

THEA PAPP: A SEASONED PERSPECTIVE ON SECONDLIFE – JOSH (THOMAS1 BELLIC) REPORTING

One of the benefits of having been a resident of SecondLife for several years is an ability to evaluate the past and make well-founded suggestions for charting a path into the future. Enter Thea Papp, a long-time resident of the SL Grid, and she has graciously agreed to share her perspective on where things have gone well in this Virtual World, as well as suggestions for improvement for the years ahead.

For nearly two decades, Thea has been a strong and creative presence in Second Life. Known for her commanding role as a Mistress, her uncompromising standards, and her bold new project The A-Club, Thea has experienced SL through all its changes. In this interview, she shares her journey, her vision, and her honest thoughts on what SL gets right, and what could still improve.

Josh (Thomas1 Bellic) (JB):     So Thea, thanks for agreeing to meet with me today.  To begin with, I am hoping you can share something about who you are and your interests in SecondLife?

Thea Papp (TP):     I’ve been a Mistress for 18 years now. Everything I’ve done in SL has been connected to domination in one way or another, and I’m still doing it.

Domination isn’t just a roleplay style for me, it’s about control, responsibility, and vision. Those same principles guide how I build and create in SL. Perfection is the only acceptable outcome. If it’s not done perfectly, it’s not ready. That’s my philosophy, and it’s what drives me now as I build The A-Club, my boldest project yet.

JB:     In 18 years you certainly have a perspective that not many people have achieved. Can you share with our readers some of the changes you have seen in SL over your time here?

TP:     In the beginning, it was raw, a frontier. Everyone was experimenting, trying things, and the philosophy was that anyone could build something unique and instantly find their place. It wasn’t polished, but it was alive.

Over the years, the visuals became sharper, avatars more detailed, and builds more realistic. Clubs, shops, and communities also became more structured and professional. SL is more beautiful now, but sometimes I miss the wild spirit of the early days.

JB:     I understand you have a project underway called “The A-Club”. Can you tell us about that please?

TP:     The A-Club is still under construction, but it’s a project I’ve been shaping for some time. It’s designed as a cathedral-inspired structure, Gothic architecture on the outside, but inside it’s all about the energy of house music and similar styles.

I don’t want another old-fashioned playlist. The A-Club will bring house, vocal house, deep house, music that feels alive, modern, and international.

The design itself is as much a statement as the music. Soaring walls, vaulted rooflines, intricate details, a space that feels historic, yet modern with its lighting and sound. It’s not just about creating a dancefloor, but about creating an atmosphere. A place where you step in and feel you’ve entered something unforgettable.

And I’m patient with it. I’ll open the doors only when it’s as perfect as I can make it. Quality over speed. That’s rare in SL, where many clubs launch quickly and fade just as fast.

JB:     Based on your experience, what would you say are some of the best things about SecondLife?

TP:     The best thing about SL is the freedom to create without limits. You can build a cathedral, a script, a dress, anything you imagine, and share it with others immediately. There’s nothing else like it.

I also love the way SL connects people across borders. I’ve had conversations and friendships here that never would have happened in real life. SL collapses distance. You meet people you’d never cross paths with otherwise, and you create memories together.

And one of my favorite moments is seeing my builds come alive with people inside. When you put so much work into a place and then see others enjoying it, that moment makes it worth it.

JB:     And you must also have seen some things that could stand improvement? What might they be?

TP:     Second Life has always been full of brilliant ideas from its residents, but the platform itself hasn’t always kept up. Things like lag and slow updates can hold us back, when we all know SL has the potential to be even better.

Another concern is the concentration of power in the hands of a few. What I notice is that many clubs and stores in SL can feel surprisingly similar, almost like they’re run from the same playbook. Sometimes you even wonder if there’s really more than one person behind it all. Either way, the effect is the same: a few big names dominate the scene, and smaller independent voices struggle to be seen. That’s far from the open, diverse spirit SL started with.

I don’t try to compete with the giants. My goal is not numbers, it’s meaning. I build for those who appreciate what I create. That, to me, feels truer to the original philosophy of SL: freedom, individuality, and diversity.

JB:     Looking ahead, what do you want your role in SL to be?

TP:     My focus now is on bringing The A-Club to completion. But more broadly, I see my role as a reminder that SL is still a place where vision matters.

I want people to remember that SL is not about doing the same thing everyone else does. It’s about creating something personal, something new, even if it doesn’t reach millions. That’s the magic of SL: your space can be small, but it can still be unforgettable.

Second Life is what we make of it. If we accept mediocrity, that’s what we get. But if we raise the standard, demand more, and dare to build what we dream, then SL can keep surprising us, just like it did the first time we logged in.

So there you have it, Folks.  Straight from the heart of one who has been around long enough to know, and is not shy about sharing that knowledge with others.  Whether you are curious about the BDSM Lifestyle in SL, or just want to see a one of the most amazingly creative builds to hit the grid in a while, “The A-Club” promises to be a build that you simply will not want to miss.  And when you do, tell ‘em Josh sent ya.  You’ll be glad you did..

LUXE Paris LOOK of the YEAR JENNY STARLING 2nd RUNNER UP AT HER FIRST RUNWAY APPEARANCE!

Mother, cancer survivor, and LOOK of the YEAR second runner-up at her first runway appearance...
The least we can say is that Jenny Starling is a fighter!

She was no stranger to the fashion world though. Designer, blogger, marketing specialist, she knew how to master style, but walking a catwalk in front of an audience—that's something she'd never done before!

How did you find your experience? What was the most exciting part? The most challenging?
I found it overwhelming at times!
The most exciting part was picking out outfits and accessories for the runway.
The most challenging for me was to stay focused and listen to my cues.

Were you surprised to be named second runner-up?
I was absolutely shocked!
I think I stood for a minute before walking!
My sister was in the audience.
I asked her... Did that just happen?

But Jenny's family was probably not that surprised of her almost instant success. It's that Jenny was raised in a creative environment.

My mom sewed when I was young and is still going strong.  She made our toys and baby quilts, moved on wedding gown alterations and is currently active in quilting. We always dabbled in different things from folk art painting to art. I crochet, sew, create paper crafts and have just about tried my hand at all.

“We are all beautiful,
we just need to learn how to shine”
When asked about beauty, Jenny Starling doesn't talk about flowers or the turquoise sea or the castles of the Loire...
As they say, beauty is within, she answers. I would love to see people shine.  Growth and accepting yourself is beauty in its own way.  We are all beautiful, we just need to learn how to shine.

Are you passionate about a particular cause?
I would like to be more involved in cancer activities in SL.  Being a survivor myself and having other family members ... I feel we should learn more and help more with research.

If you were offered a trip to the place of your choice, where would you go?
Asia, because it is a totally different culture than what I am accustomed too.

What is the thing you hate the most?
Hate is a strong word, but I dont like the people who mistreat others and I really don't like seeing people in that situation.

If you were given the opportunity to meet any celebrity, who would you choose and why?
Keanu Reeves!  I think he is brilliant and diverse.  He is so down to earth and I think he would be an amazing person to sit down and hear his life story and advice he has for anyone who wants to start in the industry and how to stay humble like he does.

LUXE Paris LOOK of the YEAR LOREZ AICHI 1st RUNNER UP A SEDUCER WITH DEPTH

He has the legendary charm of his country's men. Italian Lorez Aichi, 1st runner-up in the LUXE Paris LOOK of the YEAR competition, is definitely a seducer, but his description of seduction will surprise you.

"You know, I think seduction has a thousand faces. Seduction as we know it leads us to believe it's driven by physical appearance, even if virtual, sometimes by how we place ourselves in one environment or another" explain Lorez.

"I, on the other hand, think that seduction is an internal channel that perceives our authenticity, our spirit, and the love we put into the things we do, and what we're willing to give before receiving. I think this is seduction..."

Were you surprised when they named you First Runner-Up, or did you expect it, given your extensive experience as a model?

I never take anything for granted. I knew I'd show up with my own style to represent myself, and I knew there would be judges evaluating all the contestants. I also knew that competing against women isn't easy, and I knew that no matter how I placed, I'd had fun, and that was enough to meet my expectations.

Lorez, you definitely have a striking style. What inspires you when creating a look?

Well, I won't tell you everything.
Behind my work, there's a secret... :)))
My work is made up of small pieces that I assemble, preparatory steps that ultimately must fit together and lead to a single scenario, a single story.
Each time, I throw a little bait in my head and wait for the right answer so I can create an outfit worthy of the occasion.

Do you dare to dress with the same audacity in real life?

I love everything that's unique.
Obviously, real life is far from what we can create and dare to do in SL, but my true personality is what you see here.

Besides fashion, what other interests do you have in real life and in Second Life?

In real life, I'm not a model. It would be crazy to do what I do out here...
Although in some ways, it's similar to what I do in real life, since I work in the entertainment industry.

I can't say what my particular interest is. I'm one of those who decides to do something and does it.
I'm a creative person, so my interests are everything I'm passionate about and want to do!

What's your biggest dream?

Unfortunately, my dream will always remain a dream... peace among peoples.
And no poverty....
As I said, I fear this will remain just a dream...

If you were to return to Earth in another life, what would you like to be?

This is a question probably recommended by a psychologist who wants to study me :)). No, I'm kidding...
Do you know what I'd like to be?...
Something I don't expect or desire, a person who surprises me every day and is better than I am!

Who is the person in the real world you'd like to have dinner with, and why?

With my daughter living 700 kilometers away from me, having dinner with her at least once a week...
You can imagine why.
