About the National Breast Cancer Foundation
The National Breast Cancer Foundation was founded in 1991 by breast cancer survivor, Janelle Hail.  She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1980 at the age of 34.  At the time of her diagnosis, there was little information about the disease, and she was forced to make a decision about her health with few options.  After her treatment, Janelle made a commitment to help women around the world by educating them about breast cancer and the importance of early detection.  NBCF’s mission is to save lives through early detection and to provide mammograms for those in need.  This mission includes increasing awareness through education, providing diagnostic breast care services for those in need, and providing nurturing support services.

LGBT Lifestyle and Support Groups In SL – Camury Reporting

Most people have little knowledge and a lot of misinformation about the lives of gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender. Homosexuality is often mentioned in the negative form, with stereotypes and prejudice, or it is considered something strange and dangerous. However, as more and more homosexuals are openly talking of their lives, this situation has been transformed. Over time, the negative attitudes will change and people will feel more safe and comfortable around others, regardless of sexual orientation.
What is important to know is that the people of the LGBT community have a normal life, like anyone, gay or straight. They spend their time with work, shopping, free time, like everyone else.
LGBT is the acronym for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual and Transgender. This acronym is used to identify all minority sexual orientations and different gender identity manifestations of designated sex at birth.
In Second Life you can find many friendly LGBT places, to go out and meet people of this community. They have, islands, beaches, bathrooms, clubs with live DJs, various fun areas to explore and great variety of services dedicated to this community.

Many support groups address the LGBT community in Second Life:
The Transgender Lounge is a nonprofit organization that supports the LGBT community, based on Second Life. The organization holds events that are advertised on the world through the group, on twitter and listed in Google Calendar shared by group members.

The Gay Archipelago is a Second Life association of LGBT. The archipelago is located in an international zone of Second Life which consists of 148 sims that share the traffic. The LGBT community who enters Second Life may find in the region a place of welcome, guidance and help. Over there individuals can live in harmony, shopping, find services, attend parties and get information on destinations targeted to your lifestyle. The Gay Archipelago coordinates activities and events on all the region, and provides an information center for all SL LGBT residents.
You can contact the leadership team in the virtual world or through the website:

Support for Healing is a real world organization sponsoring an online forum for people with mental health problems, depression, life problems, and other similar issues. They have also their own island in Second Life where several groups routinely and regularly meet. Visit the island to pick up a copy of the newsletter and meeting schedule.

For those who are looking for more LGBT places in the virtual world of Second Life, a good tip is to consult the guide of destinations. There you can see a list with a huge variety of options.
Have fun!! independently of you sexual orientation!

To Honor and Empower Wounded Warriors- Get Involved!

Support the Wounded Warrior Project on SL with a grid wide push this July!

Your generous donation to WWP helps thousands of Wounded Warriors - and their families - as they return home from the current conflicts. When a warrior faces challenges, the family experiences those challenges along with their warrior. We support family members who suddenly find they are serving as full-time supporters or caregivers.

The WWP RL group started by Frets Nirvana has always put the vets first and We strive to make sure every person we come across that we meet at the concerts and venue houses get to see how we work and see that the funds truly go to the RL WWP corp.
Hardcore (jardasius.ecksol): I been serving almost 11 years now and have friends that have comeback hurt and some of them have been helped by the WWP in RL and its good to see that after  238 years since the country was founded we finally have an organization to help out the wounded men and women who fight to keep us all free. All of frets reps work very hard and are so lucky and honored to be doing this for ALL of the countries wounded soldiers

If you would like to host an event in the month of July, or perform or get involved in any way, please contact Weeblewolf Pinion or Mark Ussy (markr356) and we will get you started.

Amazing Graces in Second Life: For a Better Real Life – Glossom Resident reporting…

We could mention many success cases of residents who have become real millionaires thanks to Second life. Or even of successful virtual relationships which changed the lives of real people in a very positive way. However, today we will go further and we will be addressing amazing uses of Second Life that have great impact in Real Life.

This virtual platform is very effective when it comes to creating campaigns to help people plagued by natural disasters or to raising funds for the underprivileged to ensure their basic needs. In this global platform it becomes easier to reach new targets and appeal to the hearts of residents and involve them in noble causes. Either as an act of altruism or selfishness, the truth is that the volunteer also benefits from a fantastic feeling that he/she is doing a good deed.

Introducing Virtual Ability -NemzKat Resident Reporting...

Path of Support

Virtual Ability has been building communities of support for people with disabilities in virtual worlds since 2007.

Studies are showing that bringing people with mental disabilities into virtual worlds is good for and benefits them. And many of you are probably thinking, what does this have to do with anything? Well, that’s what Virtual Ability is about. It helps people with mental disabilities to come into the worlds, and be successful with them. But SL is not the only world they do this is, but is what we will be talking about.

Virtual Abilities is present in both real life, and Second Life.

Inside the World of Relay for Life - Part Two -- Coco Lierfatte Reporting

This is a continuation of yesterday’s piece on Relay for Life. It was difficult to write about such a wonderful organization (and the wonderful people a part of RFL) in just one article. I had the pleasure to sit down and talk with a few Relay for Life veterans to learn about their joining of RFL and how the organization has impacted their lives.

Finding Support In SL -- Crimsoncure Reporting

Nonprofit organizations are an important and crucial part of Second Life. They help out with real world issues, but in Second Life and that interests me. I could go on forever about all the nonprofits, but there are a few that I chose to cover specifically: The Giving Circles Network, Project Jason, and NSW Animal Rescue.
