IT’S POSH, BY GOSH – BY JOSH: POSH EVENTS - AN ICONIC EXPERIENCE IN SL - JOSH (THOMAS1 BELLIC), REPORTING

Those of you who follow the fashion trendsetters in SL have no doubt heard of Posh Events.  Every month Posh invites independent designers and businesses to display their latest creations at a Posh Event.   I happened upon one just the other day.  Posh was there, putting the final touches on her displays, calming nervous exhibitors and generally ensuring all was in readiness for the next opening.    Not having spent a lot of time myself buying women’s apparel and accessories, I did manage to get Posh to share some about what a Posh Event is all about.  This is HER story.

Josh (Thomas1 Bellic) (JB:  So tell me, Posh.  Where did you get the idea for Posh Events? Is there some history here?

Poshbarby Sun (PS): Welll..I guess I got the idea as it developed out of my Idea of wanting to connect with  other women on friendly, business basis,  That was how the concept started – wanting to meet other strong-minded, hard-working women who owned businesses. 

  

JB:  So then, who managed to put this thing together and what role did each of you play?

PS:  I am the owner I am responsible for all things.  I put the event together and work hard to keep it going. One of the toughest parts if this is making sure we have enough participants month after month.  My continuing role is to make sure my event has the participants it needs.  I make sure the exhibitors are well taken care of, and that they meet all the required deadlines.

JB:    There are many fun and interesting shopping malls in SL. What is the Posh Events difference?

 PS:  What makes my mall different from all the other malls out there is that this is not some cold shopping mall.  When you come to a Posh Event, you can feel like you are at home.  You don’t have to worry about being harassed or mistreated.  You are treated with love and kindness, and are made to feel very welcome.

JB:    Well then, just how big an area do you own?

PS:  We have a 30,000 prim property, split among the mall, a beach area, and special entertainment  venues scattered around the place to host special events.

JB:    Tell us about some of the different areas on the property?

PS:  IN addition to the main Events build, we have a complete shopping mall with shops for rent, a lovely beach area too relax those tired feet from shopping, and various other rentals available. 

JB:    Do you have any plans for future development?

PS:  Absolutely!  I am always looking to expand.  Join the group to be informed of upcoming events and activities.

JB:    Tell us about some of the designers you work with?

PS:  Some of these folks are truly amazing.  But I don’t really want to say any names for concern of leaving someone out who deserves to be mentioned.  We know that designers come and go in SL, but I am so very happy to be able to help those who are shining stars in the design world.  I do hope that, when they make it to the big time, that they will be able to appreciate the assistance I gave them in their climb and when they reach the top of their industry.

JB:    Shopping areas are not normally known for their Special Events.  What kind of events have you hosted and plan to host in the future?

PS:  I am hoping to host parties and do more sales and weekend sales

Buying a Dance Pole- Stacey Cardalines Reporting...

 I have a side hustle as a dancer. The SL Enquirer pays just fine, I'm nowhere near poor, but I am a hardcore kind of girl and I also make sports bets that lead to arrangements where I work as a dancer. It's a long story, probably more interesting than what I am to write about today, but it is also a story for another day.

I'm not a stripper. I'm too short (I look a lot like that Boston girl from the Olympic gymnastics team a few years ago, especially if I hang around with people who are taller... a group which, at last count, includes everyone) to make a real living as a dancer, and the sim I dance at is Moderate, so no T&A from your favorite sportswriter. I wear as little as I can, but there are parts of me that I am only comfortable having seen by my doctor and my husband. "Dancer" is only part of my job duties there, which also involve Greeting, Modeling, Security, Orientation and even Scouting. Again, this would probably make a better story than what I am writing about, but it is also a story for another day.

My sister Courtney and I are under a certain obligation to a woman known as the Sea Witch, and we formerly worked as dancers at this nasty racial slavery sim where we suffered every abuse imaginable. We were quite happy to be moved by the Sea Witch to Divas, which is a professional wrestling sim. We were nude all the time at our former spot, but Divas only required that we dress like wrestlers in gear from their wrestling-themed mall. Not a bad gig, if you can get it. I refuse to wear wrestling boots- I'm short, wrestling boots tend to be large, and I look like I am wearing Daddy's boots when I wear them, which isn't often- but that is also a story for another day.

The Sea Witch just sort of gave us to Divas to serve as dancing tips jars for the sim, and they really didn't know we were coming. A stage was assembled, and dancer poles were set up. The poles were from like 2008 or so, you had to move through the dances individually, and you'd sometimes de-hover into the floor. I would often forsake the poles and just rely on my Cheerleading hud. Stacey Cardalines does not complain, but I bitched enough that the managers there eventually gave Courtney and I permission to upgrade the infrastructure. 

Armed with two dancers' worth of salary, off we went to get a stripper pole. Again, we aren't allowed to strip, but a certain lingo exists among professionals, and semantics matter little in that crowd. I'm checking my pockets for the newspaper version of Payola, I don't see any, so I won't get into the names of all the stores that we visited. I don't look this goddamned good for free, children, and mesh shapes don't grow on trees. Just make the check out to Stacey Cardalines, yes Cardalines, C-A-R... ah, however you spell that.

There are several factors to consider when shopping for a dancer pole. Artistry is chief among them. You have to be doing dances that make people want to stay around and watch you, and perhaps even return again some day. Some poles are way better than others at this. You'd think it would be hard to make a dancing supermodel look stupid, but it can be done, and you can see so for yourself if you go to enough vendors. There are also some ones which are works of art. This leads into our second consideration, Cost.

You can drive a Toyota or a Tesla and still get to work at the same time. Differences exist between the two, however. Dance poles are like that. Sometimes, they cost more because they are significantly better. Some stores just hack together a dance pole that gets boring, for the dancer in ten minutes and for the audience in fifteen minutes. Some stores overpay a creator and then overcharge a consumer. Shop according to your need. If you are going to be dancing in the lobby of a popular sim, you will need a great variety of dances. If you bring a guy home and spin around on a personal dance pole as a prelude to sex... well, you really don't need 75 dances for that, at least not on the pole.

More popular brands of dance poles may be more expensive because they are better. However, the more popular they are, the more likely it is that customers will have seen some other girl do these very dances somewhere else. "Homogenous" is not how you want your dancing described. If you get a bit obscure, it may be a treat for the more veteran dancer girl fans. 

There are certain features shared by several manufacturers. One is having a pole that both male and female dancers can use, either via Unisex dances or by distinct menu settings. Another is having two girls be able to share the pole at once, usually known in the trade as Dual mode. We actually ended up getting the dancer pole with male and female dances, even though we are a female wrestling sim and seeing a guy dance there would be disappointing to most of our visitors.

An important thing, and I was told this by many different dancers at many different clubs which I visited while researching this article, is to get Auto Sequence. This is a feature where the dances are cycled through automatically, thus saving the dancer from having to click a menu every 30 seconds. I found that it is ideal to have a lot of dances in the quiver if you plan to rely on auto-sequence.

Land Impact, or whatever they call that, also serves as a possible deal-breaker. Some poles have the land impact of a cat sleeping on the rug in an unused corner of a living room. Some have the land impact of a border collie chasing a butterfly through a dining room. Prims are like what Mark Twain said about land, "Buy it whenever you can, because they ain't makin' any more of it." If you don't want the sim owner to hate you, get as low-prim as you can stand.

One thing that is oh-so-important is to get out in the world and test drive the pole. Ride it for every dance it has, take note of the good ones, lose the landmarks for the bad ones. Drag a friend along for a second opinion. Establish a group of favorites, and then it is decision time. There are certain things that only the experts should buy on SL Marketplace, and a dance pole is one of them.

Take it home (or, in our case, to Divas), set it up... Voila! You have a strip club. I didn't set ours up, Courtney did, so I have no technical insight here.

THE PLEASURE ZONE: PLEASURE IN PIXELS - JOSH (THOMAS1 BELLIC) REPORTING

One of the BEST things about being a writer for the Grid’s longest-running, continually active news source is that I get to travel the grid on a regular basis, at the paper’s expense.  On these trips, I get to discover all manner of phenomenal builds by the talented residents of SL.  General. Moderate, and Adult...the Grid’s got something for everyone!  But in the inventory of Adult Sims, one that stands head and shoulders above the rest of the pack is the unique and incomparable “Pleasure Zone”.  After seeing their ad, my curiosity was aroused and I set about trying to learn what I could about this aptly named Sim.  Intrigued by their ad, I felt compelled to check.  While there, I ran into the owners, Draven Voight and Trish Nebula, and they graciously agreed to sit with me for a spell and answer my questions about this most unusual build.

Josh (Thomas1 Bellic) JB:  So tell me, guys. Where did you get the idea for Pleasure Zone? Is there some history here?

Trish Nebula (TN):   We opened another club a few years back based on a Circus theme that was all rock and to be honest sex sells in second life. I was concerned about the patrons we would attract by having a sex-themed club, we started as just DJing and keeping it all sex-based and then people just kept coming back and wanting more.

Draven Voight (DV):  We tried a metal club and we wanted more variety so we decided to open a sex club that plays rock, country, and metal. We were brainstorming names and Pleasure Zone seemed to fit perfectly.

JB:      OK Draven and Trish. Just what is “Pleasure Zone” all about?

DV:  A fun friendly atmosphere where everyone is welcome.

Clothing is frowned upon but nudity is not required.  Sex and partying go hand and hand here. People can grope each other on the dance or take it to a room. We want everyone that comes here to feel like they are old friends as soon as they land. We don't want a "clicky" club.

TN:  Great music and everyone feels welcome. We want people to enjoy the sexual side of second life and not feel like you gotta go to some dingy-looking sim to have a good time, but a great place to meet people and perhaps use the amenities while here and come back to the dance floor and party some more.

JB:      Who managed to put this thing together and what role did each of you play?

DV:  We both put our heads together and built this club from the ground up. We are both co-owners and in the beginning, we were the only DJs and we hosted for each other.

TN:  We built a few different designs and it took us a few weeks to build what we have now. We wanted something unique.

JB:     There are many fun and exciting  Adult Clubs out there. What is the Pleasure Zone difference? 

TN:  Honestly, we pride ourselves on the fact everyone here is special. It doesn’t matter if they are a day old or 16 years old. Everyone is greeted and we encourage staff to engage with all people, not just the regulars.  That is how they become regulars.

DV:  Really friendly atmosphere, staff is required to greet everyone and make them feel welcome.  No one is a stranger and whenever someone joins the group Everyone welcomes them to The Pleasure Zone Family.

JB:      Tell us about some of the different areas on the property?

DV:  There is a gangbang area, BDSM room, a glory hole room, a porn cinema, couples rooms, a shower area, and a lounge.  We have a teleporter that has a wedding venue that is free to use, an Oasis, a hideaway, and a sex beach.

TN:  We have a mall, a few different areas for different sexual needs, a porn cinema and we have a teleporter to go to a wedding venue that is free to use, a little oasis(romantic setting with a house and hidden cave), and a fairy house. We also have a sex beach we do outside themes at. There is the KISS stage for concerts.

We also have a KISS Tribute band stage because PZ is the official home of the KISS Alive Tribute Band.

JB:      Do you have any plans for future development?

TN:  We have changed things up a few times, and try to keep what has worked. Currently, we haven’t looked into building anything more ATM and just trying to build patrons and more staff to meet the needs of the people wanting more parties during the day.

JB:      Could you share some of the interesting things that visitors and guests can do at Pleasure Zone?

TN:  They can get married and honeymoon here. There are a lot of different areas for the more sexually active. There is a shopping mall and can chill and watch a variety of porn.

DV:  They can shop, party with us, have sex in about any room they choose, or watch porn.

JB:      Do you host Special events?  And how might someone learn of any scheduled activities here?

 TN:  Every night from 6-8pm we have themed events ..best in a theme. We always say that includes naked. We post in the SL Event Calendar, there is an event schedule board in the club that is updated weekly, and every day a line up is sent out in a VIP group notice.

DV:  We have themed events m-f 6pm-8pm SLT. If they are patrons, they will get notifications in the group plus events are posted in the SL Event Calendar.  We have KISS Concerts and they will learn about those the same as the themed events.

 

JB:     I understand you just recently went over 1,000 members.  How do you plan to recognize so momentous an accomplishment?

TN:  We are having a week-long party of with a 1000 lindens giveaway for every DJ spinning, each day has a theme. So instead of one contest, there could be up to 5 contests on certain days.

JB:    Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers? Perhaps about any Social Media or locations or important URLs you would care to share with me and about 70,000 of my closest friends

TN:  We just want to have a place where everyone has a good time.  We hope that everyone that comes here feels like we value and appreciate the fact they choose our club to come party when there are so many out there to choose from.

LETTER FROM THE EDITOR- MAY 1, 2023

 

As I sit here in New Jersey contemplating what I should do with a whole new life. I must say it has been one crazy year. So many life changes all at once. OMG WTF

This letter is random as hell but necessary, I haven’t had the chance to sit down and write in a long time so I just want to ramble in a throwback Cinco De Mayo outfit while holding maracas.

 No wonder us Second Lifers would rather be in world than deal with all the madness in the real world. I completely get it. I prefer Second Life over real human contact but since relocating to a whole new state I have been very focused on my new job and quite frankly it has me hostage. Being a supervisor to a transportation department in a hospital keeps me busy and on my toes. So far I've dodged 2 tornados,  witnessed 3 car fires in the parking lt….. Well 4, I saw a car burst into flames at a local Walmart,  two women in full on labor right near the entrance to my office, a snake in the lobby and countless profanity riddled arguments in the valet area…Even Bean Boozled my boss.  I can go on and on with all the excitement . It kinda feels like second life and GTA mixed into one. Depending on who you ask…

Since covid is starting to  phase out in most places, we all find ourselves starting to go out and explore life in the real world again. I apologize for ghosting you all for nearly 4 months only peeking in when I had some time but I’m around and often  check emails.

 To those of you who know me well, thank you for not unfriending me.  For those of you who like sending D*c Pixs, thank you for relieving me of the horror. Being single doesn’t mean I’m desperate. I spent the best $39.99 plus shipping and handling on a Rose..No Shame… I am goOooOOOOoood. 

Anyway, On May 9th The SL Enquirer will be turning 18 years old along with this ageless avie of mine. . GeekSpeak – Is there a civilization around Tabby’s Star? Join the discussion on Saturday April 1 at 12pm SLT

 

There are rumors that there may be alien megastructures around Tabby’s Star, which is about 1500 light years from Earth.  Other explanations have been suggested for the variation in the light from the star but none of them fit all the data.  So it is possible that a Kardashev type 2 civilization is ruling over that area of space.

The Kardashev scale measures how much energy is used.  Type 1 uses the energy of the home planet, Type 2 the energy of the solar system, Type 3 the energy of the galaxy.  To build huge structures around stars a Type 2 would be needed.

How would these cultures work?  How do they build such huge structures and why?  Will we ever be able to send messages to them?  Do they know about us?  Should we be scared?
