AVIE POLL: Do you have the Spark?- Debby Sharma Reporting...

“I wake up in the morning, Think I have been dreaming”, a line that I think is appropriate from my handbook of poems, written by me. The virtual world is an escape for some and a life for others. But it is a dream for all of us.  How many of us wake up smiling, thinking about the other wonderful life we have? Few among us walk the virtual worlds holding hands and partnered for a long time. One year of virtual relationship is considered a long time in world. This time I walked through the worlds to search for such couples who have made it more than a year. For most of us, we lose the spark as the days pass by. And few still continue through their ups and downs holding each other’s hands. So what is it that keeps the spark alive?

Most of the time I ask a few questions, but this time my question was generic, i.e., only one for all the three couples I met. “What are the things you do together to be still bonded in love?” Instead of a question answer format, this time, I observed the couples. It is said that a picture speaks louder than words, I have tried to make a collage from their snapshots, consisting of activities they have been doing together over the past few years.

Valeria and Nestor Feiri

Valeria and Nestor Feiri have been together since 2009. The first time I saw the pictures of this couple was in a Facebook group “The world of Zooby’s”. Since then, I have always noticed the strong bond that they share.

Valeria says, “Our relationship is based on honesty, dialogue, trust and respect for the other part. It’s a kind of mix, close friendship and love. We have a lot of things in common and for the other side, we complement each other. We have good communication. We know our likes and dislikes and how could the other react and sometimes I know what he’s going to say even before he does. When we have a problem, we try solving it by talking to each other. We try to do things that amuse us and have a good time. We try to get new experiences or new goals that we can enjoy together to avoid falling into the routine, enriching our experiences together.”

As I said, a picture speaks louder than words. One may see that it is true that they love to do things together. They are seen to be roleplaying the characters of “Avatar”, the movie; celebrating Christmas together as Santa; having fun with friends and having two babies (Zooby’s) to complete their family. They love to have candle light dinners, dance with each other at elegant balls and also have a home with kids, pets and a farm.

Bianca and Walter Gedenspire

Bianca and Walter Gedenspire  have been going strong and will complete two years in coming December. I was introduced to Bianca by Shamas Maximus for an article I had to write on arts. Since, then she has been a good friend and I had admired the relationship, she shares with Walter.

Bianca laughs and says, “Never thought I would be asked advice on this. We are busy all the time. We both have our own interests and combined. I think consistency is our key. Every morning Walter sends me a little private note to wake up with. Every night we always tuck each other in. So, I guess, starting the day together with a little note and always ending together. We very rarely miss this. Only natural disasters have stopped it once or twice”, she laughs and says, “We have never argued. Walter has a few friends that are not fond of me. I have a few that feel the same of him. We do not stop the other from having those friendships. I think it is important in the beginning setting ground rules of what you expect from the relationship. What you are willing to give as well. For example, I will not pose with another model. Walter poses only for me”. She pauses a while and then says, “I can honestly say every time I see him log on I still get butterflies.”

In the picture above, one can see that they both like to be in each other’s arms all the time. It does not matter what activities they do, you will always see them together. For SL11B, I had asked Bianca to help me click a few snapshots among other photographers to prepare the SL11B Guide, she came with Walter. They play sports, role play or visit any event together.  She says, “If we are not working on shoots, we are event hopping. There is always so much going on in SL, we have a hard time fitting it all in. We have SL property in Paris, Berlin, Mainland next to East Gallery and a little plot of land we work on. We always have projects. One night when it was slow we even tried making hats. Shopping, Oh my God! the shopping. Our favourite thing is to support our friends and family in SL, be it designers, artists and dancers. We do not judge and enjoy all the good we see in people we meet.”

Kennice and Chiristian Carlsson

Kennice and Christian are completing their four year relationship in coming February, the 4th
They are owners and founding members of The Torch: Entertainment Guide. I have been working for them since last year. They are one of the coolest employers. They have achieved much together. The Torch: Entertainment Guide was voted to be one of the top five for the UK Blog Awards last year. They are a team of eleven members currently and are the supporters of Relay for Life. They have a team called the Ryukyu Torch Warriors. At weekly meetings, we would all talk about the week ahead. There are also times at the meeting when Kennice would be giggling and Chirstian would be like hush hush.

When asked of the activities they do together, Kennice says, “Play games like Forsaken world, work on The Torch and just hang out together. We met at The Shelter in Second Life. We also like to go to the Isle of Dee, to role play. It is a medieval role playing sim. We love to hang out with each other. We work on projects together and it helps that we were friends first”. The collage formed out of the pictures taken from their profiles in Second Life, also suggests the same. She says, “Have fun, do not worry about the future. Just enjoy now”.
Apart from the magazine work, they also have babies and a family. Like Kennice said, they like to hang out with friends.

One of my real life friends said, “Life just goes on, Love is there as it was when we first met.” If there was a spark, it would still be there. We just have to find the things we love to do together. And most importantly, have a family and friends, as they complete us in every world.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: BUBBLES WINS 2014 SL’s GOT TALENT CONTEST

On Sunday, September 21, 2014, all contestants, sponsors, judges and contest followers gathered at The Nile Lotus Ballroom to hear the winners announced. The contest started with 11 performances during Round one, seven in Round 2 and five in the final round.  The judges had a difficult task in selecting winners from this exceptional line-up of live SL performers.

The final round proved to be an unique musical experience for both the audience and the contestants.  The excitement was primarily due to the challenge the five finalists were given to perform one song acapella and the second song with chosen musical backup.  The judges listened and scored each performer, which yielded the following winners:

1ST PLACE - BUBBLES (Trinity Ermintrood)
2nd PLACE - LUVOFMUSIC
3RD PLACE - NAZIRAH AVOR

Prize money was increased compliments of Stone Vayandar, White Tigers Islands, Resorts & Clubs.  Original prize money was $10K, 5K, & 3K.  The winners received $15K, 10k & 5K.  And, compliments of Linda Sautereau, Nat's Jazz Club, Honorable Mention prizes of $1K each was awarded to Mark (Singit2ya) and Mizanah.

Lefko Entertainment would like to extend special thanks to all the Sponsors and Judges who volunteered their time and resources to make the 2014 SL’s Got Talent Event a success.

Party Like You're Beating Cancer- Stacey Cardalines Reporting…

Hi, everyone. I apologize for shutting down the Sports and Leisure desk for so long, but I got heavily into tennis. If you are making a living as a SL tennis hustler, it's hard to go back to online media. I also wanted to get Homeland Security off my ass, as I was the SL Enquirer reporter who was covering the Arab Spring when the CIA was making avatars and investigating SL looking for terrorists. I did some lay-low time, and now I'm back to take a few more scalps. It's good to be back, too.

One of the reasons it is good to be back is that I get to help out charities, like the Relay For life people.

The Relay For Life is a community based fundraising effort for the American Cancer Society. It is their most successful fundraiser, and is their signature event. There are over 5000 RFL taking place across 20 countries, and they make a ridiculous (I hear "five billion" a lot when I research) amount of money for the cause.

SL has charitable minded people, such as the SLCS, aka the Second Life Cheerleader Squad. The SLCS has been working with RFL since I knew them, and they were my first assignment at this paper back in 2009 or so. I'm technically a member of the squad, although I'm too clumsy to do cheers and am actually better suited towards wrestling or football.

As you might imagine, their principal job is to train cheerleaders and them have them cheer at events. When there are no events to cheer for, they organize their own events, like RFL fundraisers. They do one almost every month, and have raised thousands and I might even guess tens of thousands of L$ for the cause.

I was at their party last night. It was an all-day event with about 12 hours of different musical guests. I should have published a note earlier and got them some publicity, but, like I said, I've been really into tennis lately.
I'll eliminate that error right now. Their next event is October 26th, and we'll have a full listing of events soon enough.

For now, you can visit the Relay For Life page at http://www.relayforlife.org/. You can also find out more about SL charity by checking out the Cheertopia Cheerleading Arena. You can find that by doing a search on SL... Crikey, you people think I'm here to provide information or links or directions and stuff!

Eclipse; 24/7 of the Best Second Life has to Offer- Lanai Jarrico Reporting…

<">

Established in September 2014, Eclipse is an out of this world club. Created by DJ Dargo (Kardargo Amdamczyk) and Dy Courier, it offer Second Life residents an electrifying and high energy experience. The décor is very modern sci fi chic with geometric shapes that lay down the foundation and dance floor. Blue and white lights shine down creating an eclipse ambience as the pulsing sounds of dance music keeps the crowd moving.

Interview with  DJ Dargo

Lanai: I’m curious to know, how did you discover Second Life?

DJ Dargo: The first avatar I created was just after Second Life started, walked around a bit on an empty region I closed the viewer and forgot about it. About 8 years ago, I watched a documentary with professor Michio Kaku, he talked about Second Life and my curiosity about this virtual world was reignited. I created a new avatar that day and never left.

Lanai: Giving Second Life another shot seems to have paid off for you. What do you like the most about this virtual world?

DJ Dargo: The people, the limitless imagination and creativity expressed in SL.

Lanai: I would have to agree with those reasons. The people and creativity is what makes Second Life and the limitless imagination allows the landscape to change with new ideas. What inspired you to create Eclipse and when was it established?

DJ Dargo: I was traveling different clubs to dj for a few years. I noticed one after another club was closing. I have been thinking about creating a club for several years and even build some, then, a year ago I fell seriously ill, when I got better I thought this was the time to start my own club. Luckily I found Jenny Chayoo to stand beside me as COO. She is an indispensable asset to the club and made most of this happen, and Dy who finally kicked me into really take the step to do this.

Lanai: I think a successful club needs a strong support system. I sounds like you have that. Who are the other people that are part of your management staff and what are their roles?

DJ Dargo: well first off COO Jenny Chayoo, she is the best a club can wish for, she put so much effort in the club pulling Hosts and DJ’s together, then there is DJ manager zaffin & Relax, they accept new dj’s and made the schedule what it is today.  Also, we recently added Robina Ewing and SkyNet to the dj management team.
Host managers, Nena, Coffee lavender (issie), Issie deluxe (isees) Renee Hernandoz take care of the hosts, they train new hosts. I like to stress that hosts are often unappreciated, but they are extremely important to the DJ’s and club, they send out a load of notices, have many friends they invite and they keep the public entertained. Hosts are often busier than the DJ’s.

Lanai: I agree, Hosts and DJs together really play an important role. They creating a club’s energy and atmosphere. Who are the DJs that provide entertainment?

DJ Dargo: There are currently over 40 DJ’s that joined the team and 13 cover DJ’s. There are too many to name but they are all equally important to the team and together with the hosts make the place to what it is.

Lanai: Wow, that is a large pool of DJs and hosts! How would you describe the style and genre of music played at Eclipse?

DJ Dargo: The style differs very much, from deep house to hard style, and everything in between.  As a club we would not like to pin ourselves down to a single genre, I myself spin Trance, but any properly mixed genre is welcome.  You could say that the style is Electronic Dance Music, but that does not fully cover the different styles the DJ’s play.

Lanai: Variety is good because it provides something for everyone. Do you have contests and special events?

DJ Dargo: We don’t do contests, we have seen this at other clubs and you only get a public that want to make some lindens, after a contest is over you never see them again.  That is not the crowd we like to attract, and honestly it is a form of gaming the traffic system. We are thinking about events but have not set any dates yet.  The usual Halloween night, Christmas party are coming up, we cannot go into details for further events yet as they are not scheduled.  We would also like to keep our ideas for ourselves just for now.. But they are coming.. we have a list!

Lanai: You make a great point about how contest can attract one time visitors only their for the lindens.  You want a regular crowd. Good thinking.  So, what separates Eclipse from other clubs in Second Life?

DJ Dargo: Oh probably nothing, we started it to stay, not to disappear in a month and leave all those that put time and energy into it hanging. We would like it to run 24/7 but that’s hard to establish.  We would also like it to be friendly towards anyone, there are limits but a little common sense will get you a long way.

Lanai: It sounds like dedication is what separates you from others. Are you currently hiring staff?

DJ Dargo: We are always looking for hosts and mixing DJ’s if you like to join the team you can fill in our online app form and we will contact you a.s.a.p. http://bit.ly/ECLIPSE_APP_FORM

Lanai: Do you have any upcoming events or a calendar where visitors can see what is going on daily?

DJ Dargo: all our scheduled Hosts & DJ’s can be found on our Google spreadsheet : http://bit.ly/ECLIPSE_Schedule
Coming events will be announced in the group and on the ECLIPSE FB Community page

Lanai: Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers about Eclipse?

DJ Dargo: I would like to say that this club is not a one man dream, it’s the dream of many people, I could never do this alone, a large team of hosts, DJ’s and managers build a club, they make it a success, not me, I’m just a tiny wheel in the machine.

Feed a Smile News- About Feed a Smile and Lavender Field in Second Life

About Lavender Field and the impact it makes

Lavender Field hosts Live music events, art shows and a place to come and meet people and relax .The special thing that makes a difference at the Lavender Field is that it is purely a charity sim. It exists in order to feed over 400 poverty stricken children living in the slums of Nakuru, Kenya on a daily basis with the proceeds and donations.  100 Linden pays for a warm meal for a child,  additional donations provide health care, education and school supplies for these children in need. The entire sim - and everything on it has been donated.

 Entertainment
Lavender Field has some of SL's finest musicians performing on a charity basis and many of SL's leading venues and clubs organize Feed a Smile events. Many venues and shops have Feed a Smile donation boards set up  in order to support the cause.

Donations
Donations can be viewed on the donation site, which has been set up by G&N Quality Design: http://goo.gl/ceuy4

Talented Supporters
Names like Marky Helstein, Russell Eponym, Lisa Brune, Shannon Oherlihy, Xander Nichting, Tamra Sands, FunkyFreddy, Voodoo Shilton, James Coracheo, Aminius, Dragonfly, TwinGhost, Samm Qendra, Thera D, Anek Fuchs, Viviana Houston, Seamore Wildehart , TwoStep Spiritweaver, Bat Masters - and many, many more super talents are constantly on the event boards at the Lavender Field.

What is Feed a Smile?
Feed a Smile is a project that is a real world registered non-profit organization - Live and Learn in Kenya Int'l. (LLK Int'l) For more information visit  www.llk-selb.de
Who brought it to Second Life?

Brique Topaz - (Zeiner) is the RL Chairwoman of the organization in Kenya and in Germany.

What is Leben und Lernen in Kenia?
LLK Int’l is in its 13th year and has sent hundreds of children to school. That is what LLK Int'l is all about - providing needy children with an education so that they can find their way out of the vicious circle of poverty.

 Our motto

'Education is the key to the future'

This explains exactly what is important. We help the children find a way to be all that they can be - and we provide everything necessary for them to go to school  - including daily warm meals, medical and dental care, school materials, uniforms, fees, extracurricular activities, etc.

We also have a sponsorship program
Many SL residents have decided to sponsor one of our 400 LLK Int'l children in RL.  A sponsor provides everything that a child needs to go to school for only US$30 per month. The child writes letters to the sponsor, send photos and report cards to the sponsor as well.

Donation impact from Second Life
The donations from Second Life provide about 1/3 of the daily meals for the children. We are able to take in between US$ 1000 - to 1700 monthly - depending on the amount of events and the performers.

4th Anniversary in Second Life
Feed a Smile celebrated its 3rd anniversary in Second Life on July 13th. Lavender Field is hosting  other events on September 27th & 30th.

Goal
Our goal is to become a household name in Second Life -  We want to grow and become a name that people know and trust. It would be a huge help if an ever-growing number of venue owners and store owners decide to support Feed a Smile by having donation boards set up and/or having fund-raising events. Another goal is to have more direct support from Linden Lab. We must pay large transfer fees - and although the sim rent is being donated - those funds could be used to feed the children if LL were to donate a sim to Feed a Smile for example.

Getting Useful Information
Brique Topaz will provide all necessary information, photos and promotional materials to the venue owners for Feed a Smile events.

Take part in this fundraiser
Brique Topaz is always looking for musicians, performers, and artists and we have shops for rent . The rent money goes solely to feed the children. It is also possible to donated objects - especially clothing - at our charity shop - all proceeds go towards the children.

Next Big Events are September 27th and September 30th at Lavender Field.
Check out the calendar http://goo.gl/dZXFng

These events will help raise funds to build a school and feed children in Kenya.
If you need any other information, contact Brique Topaz.
