LUXE Paris LOOK of the YEAR THE CROWN TO VALSNIA!

 

Valsnia, from India, won the prestigious LUXE Paris LOOK of the YEAR title and the nice sum of L $ 50,000 in cash that came with it!

Also shining in her wake were Becky Kenaan, 1st runner up, and RoyaleSun, 2nd runner up.

The grand final of the competition took place on Sunday. In a grandiose production by One On One Agency, the twelve finalists walked on the theme '' A Ball to Save the Planet '', presenting what they considered to be the ideal LUXE Paris outfit to participate in such an event, in tribute to Greenpeace and its benefactors Elton John and Stella McCartney.

Valsnia, Becky Kenaan, RoyaleSun, Annough Lykin, EleanorJean, Hunipet Delicioso, Imogen Spark, Jude Tatham, Ksenia Jovinavic, Laycie Pearl, Nonoya, and TaraAers all brilliantly rose to the challenge, competing in imagination and elegance.

THE SUN GODDESS 

Valsnia, however, stood out with a look inspired by her country's sun goddess, Sakthi. Wearing the LUXE Paris Emeraude ball gown and adorned with Zuri jewels, she also enhanced the ensemble with a headpiece in the shape of the sun.

"In India, only 56% of the total population has access to electricity," Valsnia told judges and the public.

''It breaks my heart to think about that. Why I get to keep this privilege and another girl cannot. Why do I get to read my books with controlled temperature and light at my fingertips when another child has to walk miles and miles to access a streetlight for his education?

''The only way to move forward and make sure energy is available to all is by tapping into a resource that is universal, nondiscriminatory. I chose to dress as the Indian Sun Goddess, Sakthi, to insist that we move towards solar energy and achieve one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.''

Becky, for her part, chose to wear a gown from the LUXE Paris Brewin collection, made from the artwork of the RL Canadian painter Dave Brewin. ''Entitled New Beginnings Through Change, the artwork which infuses this dress exemplifies nature's wonderful biophilic beauty and the delicate eco-diversity of our planet'', highlighted Becky.

Also wearing a LUXE Paris Brewin dress, the Above, Royale honored our oceans and the marine life in her styling. ''The scales tattoo represents the many varieties of fish found within our oceans'', explained Royale.  ''Without them, the many nations who depend on our oceans for food would perish or have their lives forever changed.''

A VERY MOVING FINALE

Carrying an important message for the future of humanity, the final show of the competition '' A Ball to Save the Planet '' was also very moving. Avalon Chrome, LOOK of the YEAR 2020, delivered a farewell speech filled with passion and with a voice sometimes broken by emotion, sad to lay down her crown but very proud to continue her collaboration with LUXE Paris, now as a designer.

Valsnia was also deeply moved by her victory, reporting that her fingers quivered on the keyboard as she addressed the judges and the audience via public chat.

''Wow! I can't believe it'', she exclaimed as the crowd cheered her on.

''I feel like I am dreaming. Never the moment I entered this contest, or during the process of this amazing journey, I thought to myself that I would be LUXE Paris Look of the Year!

''I mean, look at these amazing ladies! There is no one who is less than the other.

''But today, standing here, I feel as if I have achieved one of the best things I ever wanted from SL. Being part of a movement! The feeling of completeness fills me because LUXE Paris is more than a brand.

''I will do everything in my power to fill the big shoes Avalon Chrome is leaving.''

With Stella and Elton at the honor table and tickets at $25,000 US per person, this event was presented to the finalists as very jet set, resolutely stylish, and even a bit aristocratic. We also specified that the fierce desire of green people to save the planet should be omnipresent.

The suspense intensifies! The LUXE Paris LOOK of the YEAR jury has chosen the 12 finalists! Now in the final race for the prestigious title and the prize pool of L$50,000 cash: Annough Lykin, Becky Kenaan, EleanorJean, Hunipet Delicioso, Imogen Spark, Jude Tatham, Ksenia Jovinavic, Laycie Pearl, Nonoya, RoyaleSun, TaraAers and Valsnia!

The Big Twelve will now be invited to participate in three live events in Second Life, during which they will have the opportunity to showcase their strengths and their ability to represent LUXE Paris.

TWO CHALLENGES-SHOWS

First there will be the Judges' Brunch, on June 19, where each of the finalists will have to present a short speech explaining why she would be a good ambassador for LUXE Paris. The judges will also have questions for them.

Then, on July 3, it will be the first Challenge-Show, on the theme '', Reveal the LUXE Paris star in you ''. For this challenge, the finalists will have to choose a movie star and dress her in LUXE Paris, for a particular film or a scene they have invented.

For the second Challenge-Show, on July 11, the finalists will have to present a LUXE Paris outfit to go to the  `` Save the planet '' ball, a tribute to Greenpeace and its great benefactors, Elton John and Stella McCartney. This challenge will be immediately followed by the unveiling of the results and the crowning of the new LUXE Paris ambassador, our LOOK of the YEAR 2021!

BROADCAST ON YOUTUBE

The three LUXE Paris final events will not be open to the public in order to minimize the lag and allow the finalists to shine brightly in front of the judges. However, both shows and the crowning will be broadcast live on YouTube by Villa Media. The links will be posted here in The SL Enquirer and on our website two days before the shows.

Relay Rockers Announce 2021 Event Dates

 

The Relay Rockers, RFL of SL’s oldest team, kicks off its 17^th season by announcing the schedule for its signature fundraising events in support of the American Cancer Society.
The team will once again host the Celebrate, Remember, Fight Back (CRFB) Top DJ Competition, Bid Me Bald Team Challenge, Bid The Lindens Bald and the popular multi-team RelayStock.  The Rockers are also planning their Blues for Life, Hard Cure for the Cure and Country fair events.

The CRFB DJ Competition begins March 27 with preliminary rounds through April 24^th. The competition is open to Club DJ and Radio Presenters who are challenged to raise funds for the Relay For Life during one-hour sets.  

The Top 4 competitors move on to the May 1^st & 2^nd semifinals rounds with the 2 remaining DJs performing in the Finals at RelayStock on May 14, 15 & 16. The event, which has been held since 2012, has raised nearly L$10 million in support of the ACS. Entry forms will be available at the team website: https://relayrockers.org/ beginning on Feb 20^th and is limited to the first 20 DJs to sign up.

The Bid Me Bald Team Challenge will be held on April 9^th through the 17^th and is open to all Registered RFL of SL Teams.  Teams fundraise to “Keep Their Hair” with the last place team pledging to go bald until RFL 2021 Weekend, June 13 & 14. Teams share kiosks with the Relay Rockers during the event.

Bid The Linden Bald will be held during the Rockers annual multi-team RelayStock weekend, May 14 -16.  Teams of Lindens and Moles compete to outraise each other and again the last-place group pledges to ‘shave’ their heads until Relay weekend 2021.

LUXE Paris LOOK of the YEAR The JUDGES' BRUNCH A PROFITABLE MEETING IN AN ENCHANTING VENUE!

The twelve finalists of the LUXE Paris LOOK of the YEAR competition met the jury for the first time on Sunday in an enchanting venue, all flowery in pink and white, specially created for the event by LUXE Paris designers, Parisian Skytower and Mika Palmyra.

So far the judges have voted by referring to photos submitted by the participants but on Sunday they had the opportunity to meet the finalists in person. Examining their style and evaluating their elegance, they also listened to them with attention. Each of the finalists went up on stage to explain why they would be a good ambassador for LUXE Paris.

The LUXE Paris LOOK of the YEAR competition aims to find an ambassador for the brand, an elegant and stylish woman who will spark the image of LUXE Paris. 326 photos were submitted from which the judges chose thirty semifinalists and then the twelve grand finalists they met on Sunday.

After each finalist' presentation, the judges were invited to question them and there was action.The judges took their role very seriously and their questions were not easy but the finalists answered with brio and grace.

NEXT STEP: THE GRAND FINAL!

The next step is the grand final, on July 26, when the 12 finalists will compete on the runway in two fashion challenges. For the first challenge, they must create a look on the theme ''Sunny Afternoon on the French Riviera'' while the theme of the second challenge is ''A Night at the Met Gala in New York''.

The judges will assign a score to each of the finalists for each of the challenges and it is the sum of these scores that will determine who will be the next face of LUXE Paris and win L$50,000!

*PosESioN* Agency is searching for male and female models to add to its roster. We invite you all to participate in the casting scheduled for Wednesday, July 22 at 1pm SLT.

Two outfits are required for this casting, utilizing both a mesh head and mesh body. In addition, a style card will be necessary for each outfit and must include a head shot and body shot. Participants will give their style cards to the judges just before the casting begins. When presenting each outfit, the walk may include however many poses the model would like to use over the span of 40 seconds. That is the amount of time each model will be allotted. The casting will be conducted by DVC system.

It is the sum of the scores awarded for each of these challenges that will determine who will be the next face of LUXE Paris.

The 2020 LUXE Paris LOOK of the YEAR will win L$50,000 cash as the two runners up will each receive L$10,000 cash. Several other prizes will accompany these sums of money. A total of L $ 175,000 in prizes will be distributed among the holders of the top three scores.

To keep the lag at its lowest level so that the finalists can shine brightly, the grand finale will not be open to the general public. However, everyone will be able to follow the progress of the event since it will be broadcast live on YouTube by Villa Media. This contest is open to all women of style. No need to be a professional model to apply as we train the finalists without experience! All you need is style, to express yourself through what you wear! We are looking for an elegant woman who will represent our brand with grace and character.

Every week for 5 weeks, starting June 3rd, we will publish the pictures of 6 semifinalists at luxeparislookoftheyear.com and at slenquirer.com. We will also display them in the LOOK of the YEAR Hall at our main store on Bao/67/72/26.

THE FINALISTS WILL EACH RECEIVE

When we will have 30 semifinalists, our jury will then select 12 finalists.
These 12 finalists will be revealed on July 8th and be invited to meet the judges at the LOOK of the YEAR Brunch on July 12th. On this occasion, the finalists will be asked to explain why they would be a good ambassador for LUXE Paris. They will also be invited to select 10 free outfits each at our main store!
This brunch will be followed by one styling challenges show. This challenges-show will take place on July 26th, immediately followed by the grand finale and the revealing of our LOOK of the YEAR 2020.

''Winning the LUXE Paris LOOK of the YEAR contest was the best moment of my Second Life'', confides Nany Jurado, a soccer mom from Medellin, Colombia, who has been a top model in Second Life for 10 years.

''When I think about the moment they said my name, I get excited again! I have no words to describe the power of the joy which filled me suddenly. I was crying and laughing in the arms of my RL daughters as the IM were coming from everywhere!''

For Quinte, our 2019 winner who comes from China and live in Las Vegas, the experience was surreal. 

''My favorite part is also the winner announcement'', remembers Quinte. ''It was such a shock!  My tongue would not work! So many top models in the competition and I was the one? Wow!''I never thought I could win! I had never been on a fashion catwalk before! But I worked hard to learn quickly. And the incredible happened!

Quinte was selected as the best ambassador for LUXE Paris among 196 entries. Elegant and very stylish with a lot of character, genuine and friendly, Quinte represents the LUXE Paris spirit perfectly.  We were really pleased to have her as our brand ambassador throughout the year.

THE JURY
The judges will give a score to each finalist for each of the two challenges at the final show and the total of those two scores will determine the winner.
The contestants will be judged on their style, elegance, and originality by a prestigious jury of 14 members: Parisian Skytower and Mika Palmyra, owners-designers of LUXE Paris, Quinte, LUXE Paris LOOK of the YEAR 2019, Adonis Lubomir, owner of Swank Events, Frolic Mills, founder of BOSL magazine, Chemak Kamala, owner of SL Confidential magazine,  Ahn Avion, owner of the WomenStuff Group, Ava Jhamin, owner of L'Amour Diversity magazine, Naar Rexen, owner of In-Nova Modeling Academy, Nany Jurado, owner-designer of Bon Amour Hairs, Zuri Rayna, owner-designer of Zuri Jewelry, Ponchituti Boucher, owner of ProPose, Ever Courtois, owner and designer of Tone Makeup, and Lanai Jarrico, owner of The Second Life Enquirer.

5 CHANCES TO GET SELECTED

AS A SEMIFINALIST

You can enter the contest as many times as you wish as long as you present a different LUXE Paris outfit for each entry. The deadlines to submit your picture and qualify for the weekly semi-finals are May 28th, June 4th, June 11th, June 18th, and June 25th. Earlier you start, more you have chances to be selected semifinalist as ALL the candidates' pictures are submitted to the judges every week. Therefore if you are not selected the first week, you could be in the following weeks.
