ROCKSTAR ISLAND: BRINGING LIVE ROCK TO A SECONDLIFE WORLD – JOSH (THOMAS1 BELLIC) REPORTING

When I first arrived at Rockstar Island, I was warmly met by the automated greeter, saying “Greetings Thomas1 Bellic, Welcome to Rockstar Island.  Where the music is live, and Rockin' high above the snow-topped mountains and in the clouds with the Aurora Borealis. Join Rockstar Island Music Events to see what Rockin the Island is all about!

Aurora Borealis?  Snowcapped Mountains?  This place definitely had my attention now.  I followed the Teleporter to the main concert area, where I saw DJCanuck (Canuck Dismantled Bloodrayne) getting set for the evening’s entertainment.

Josh Bellic (JB)  "So, Canuck.  Just what is Rockstar Island all about?

Canuck Dismantled (CD): It's a live music venue, dedicated to the Rock Music Genres from classics to modern rock.  The theme is “Winter Island at Night with the Aurora Borealis”. It's multi-levels.

JB:  Did you do all this yourself?  Or did you have help, and how do you divide the responsibilities?

CD:  No, I didn’t do this alone.  I had a LOT of help with building the venue.  I can thank my lady, Devil, a lot, for helping to make that possible. I said to my lady “Devil, I want to open a winter-themed live music venue.”  I’ll let her explain from here.

Devil Bloodrayne (DB): Canuck had been involved in the rock concert scene for some time now, working with some of the largest and best-known bands on the grid.  One day he rather whimsically indicated how much he wanted to do that again.  I love to build in SL, and when he said that, it gave me the perfect opportunity to do what I love, for the man I love. He told me what he was looking for in his decorations and I went with it.

JB: I understand your family lives with you here on the region.  Do they help with your shows as well?

CD:  Yes. They are a BIG help. They have always supported the venue, and one of them even works here as a host for some of our Live singers when they come to entertain

DB:  Some of the kids live here, and they do help out here on the sim.  I generally take care of any building that needs to be done, like the staging and platforms, scenery and the Tip Jars for the performers.  Canuck is the Face and Voice of Rockstar Island, while I provide the needed technical and building support.

JB:  So then, just where did the idea for RockStar Island come from?

CD:  lol. Well, my last tribute concert group I had was called Rockstar Entertainment, so when I stopped doing those concerts, I decided to make use of this parcel on our sim that had been used for my tribute concerts as house shows when not booked into the venue and rename it from Rockstar Entertainment Arena to Rockstar Island.

JB: I see your Venue is built to accommodate Stage Bands.  What kind of shows do you run?

CD:  Rockstar Island is a multi-purpose music venue with 2 levels. Designed for Live Music, this stage is fully equipped with lights and pyrotechnics by OD Designs & UR Wares.  The drums and keyboards are also from OD. Mondays and Tuesdays there is a band on stage with the singers called Bad Reputation. It's the long-time backing band for some of the Moonlight Music Singers. Seren, who sings here, asked for my help in forming the band here at Rockstar Island.  So, I started IMing my SL friends that I used to work within my tribute concerts, asking if they know who would like to get on a stage with some live singers at my newly opened live music venue.  So Bad Rep was formed and performs here every Monday and Tuesday with a group of my friends.  We meet some amazing new people and have fun doing what we all love – Being a Rockstar!

We use the Concert Area for Tribute Concerts we hire to come put on a concert once a month, usually on Sundays. This area can hold up to four stages at one time if ever needed, with room for the dance floor. The Groups we currently use are Thunderstorm Entertainment*TSE* and Havok Entertainment.

JB:  How long have you been in the DJ Business?

CD:  Well, I’ve DJ’d online over 19yrs. I started DJing on TSO (The Sims Online) with various online radio stations and finally Aug. 14, 2007, came to SL while with Voltradio.com as my 1st avatar, Canuck Jetcity. In 2008 I left Voltradio and went back to WhiplashRadio.com (DJ for them in TSO).  I DJ’d there for six months in SL, before they went under.  I became an independent DJ in SL, and got my own stream with digiSTREAM and to this day I still use the same.

JB:  Tell me about your dogs.  They seem very loyal.  They never seem to leave your side.

CD:  Not much to tell.  I'm a dog lover in RL , but can't have any real due to allergies. I’ve always loved the Rottweilers and American Bulldogs. These dogs are “Animesh companions” made by Rezzroom here inworld.

JB:  Do you still run the occasional Tribute Concert?

CD:  Not currently, but I am working a few special projects with Moonlight Music Co-op of Second Life with a few of their live singers to take the SL tribute concert to the next level. I won’t give any more details, but I will say this:  ONCE THEY ARE READY, THEY WILL ALL DEBUT HERE AT ROCKSTAR ISLAND!

JB:  Tell us about some of the musicians you have hosted here in the past?

CD:  We are Moonlight Music as a venue and promoter for their singers, and we host three of them weekly.  They are Seren McGillivary, Wolfie Moonshadow & Rocker335. Every other Saturday we have Maximillion Kleene.  Some of the Concerts we have had include The Rob Zombie Experience (owned and operated by my good friend Wire Frost) here twice and some of the monthly concerts with *TSE* were Metallica/Megadeth , Godsmack/Shinedown, and Havok's Lynyrd Skynyrd

JB:  And how can a reader learn more about upcoming events at Rockstar Island?

They can follow us on the Rockstar Island Facebook Page, or join our inworld group Rockstar Island Music Events. You can also hit our scriber in the venue on the right side of stage. Our FB page is:

https://www.facebook.com/RockstarIsland

JB:  Anything else you would like to share with our readers?

Yes.  Just this.  Rockstar Island is the Hottest Island on the grid, so just Jump On your Sleigh and head on down to Rockstar Island where the music is LIVE!! Rockin' high above the snow-topped mountains and rockin the Aurora Borealis

So, there ya have it folks.  If you are a fan of Rock Music, then Rockstar Island is THE place to experience the best in Live Rock on the Grid.  Come chill out alone, or with a friend, to some great tunes under a brilliant sky.   Rockstar Island.  You’ll be glad you came.

Be there.  Aloha!

Pirate Weekend at Rockin Robin Sim March 6th and 7th - Stacey Cardalines Reporting...

Who doesn't love pirates? Pirates live outside the law, they do whatever they wish, they quaff rum, they loot, they pillage, they burn, they shoot cannons, they carry off fair maidens... sure beats slingin' eggs at the IHOP, huh?

Piracy is a perfectly normal reaction to the inequities of an unjust system. What society won't give you, you take. You can let Captain Ahab feeds you to some whale, or you can Pirate Up and get some booty. Simple enough choice for this journalist. When life gives you lemons, grab a cutlass.

"Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats."

Most people love pirates. OK, people victimized by pirates don't love pirates. Tom Hanks doesn't like pirates. I do believe that Captain Kidd was gibbetted. Everyone else likes pirates, though.

With that in mind, we strongly urge you to attend the Pirate Weekend this weekend at the Rockin' Robin sim. You can dress like a pirate, talk like a pirate, behave like a pirate... what's not to like?

There will be pirate-themed entertainment all weekend, 24 hours on Saturday and 22 on Sunday. The sim is also good for SL photographers who want a tropical theme...you'll notice that even a hack like me got a few good pics.

The cannons there work, so feel free to let off a few shots if the party gets rowdy. That's a faux pas for most parties, but not one with pirates at it. A pirate party doesn't really start until someone fires a cannon.

Here's a note that I got from one of the pirates, and when a pirate asks you to pass something along, you do so. Otherwise, you end up walking the plank. Shiver me timbers!

AHOY MATES! By popular request, Rockin' Robin's annual SALUTE TO PIRATES has been changed to a weekend event and will be held all day Saturday, Mar. 6th and Sunday, Mar. 7th. Dress as a pirate or wench (or casual) and join us in a tropical island setting for some great party music and fabulous live shows on both days. Come and shiver your timbers Rockin' Robin style!

Sat.: 9 am - Wolfie Moonshadow, 5 pm - Koko Incognito, 6 pm - Urban Harvy, 7 pm - Shaye Dezno
Sun.: 9 am - Austin Moores, 4 pm - Billy Talon, 5 pm - Inkaku, 6 pm - Bill Tigerpaw, 7 pm - Hogan Baily

GeekSpeak subject for Saturday 6th March at noon SLT: Forbidden research! Should we ban dangerous research?

Nowadays we are at the forefront of a lot of really scary research.  AI, GenTech, Nanotech.  But it could get even scarier with research into time travel, black holes, cloning, brain modification, biological weapons, aging.  Should some research or the funding for some research be banned?

Should some past research have been banned?  Research into nuclear weapons perhaps? Or space research?

Should we set up a board of censors that would decide whether research would be allowed?  Would banning research actually work?

Or do you think all research should be allowed, always?

Come and discuss that thing that should not be discussed.  Bring your friends!

IM Vulcan Viper, who teaches a meditation class every Wednesday at 1pm SLT in the GeekSpeak auditorium, if you have ideas for new subjects.

GRAND OPENING OF THE TITTY TWISTER! - March 6, 2021 - 8AM-6PM SLT

The Titty Twister for most people should immediately ring a bell if you ever saw the movie From Dusk Till Dawn. It is indeed a recreation of the (in)famous bar from that movie with George Clooney, Quentin Tarantino and the unforgettable snake dance by Selma Hayek.

The Titty Twister started out as a little 'pet-project' for me out of boredom really. So I started toiling around and decorating trying to make it into something that people would feel comfortable in visiting, with an appeal to the eye, and filled with interactive stuff that I like to call 'easter-eggs'. You'll find fun and interactive stuff all across the Titty Twister and you are strongly encouraged to have a stroll at some point and explore. After a day or two, I invited some friends to view what I did, and the rest took flight from there. Before I knew it I had people coming frequently to enjoy the music and have a chat. This in turn made me think that I should maybe do more with this than merely have a little pet-project for a week orso, only to delete it afterward and turn it into a full-fledged venue or club if you will.

Since I am a musician and producer in real life, I very much enjoy listening to and promoting live artists and musicians in Second Life. So I immediately had the desire to make the Titty Twister be a venue that promotes live artists and musicians. But there's also a place for DJ's at the Titty Twister and I am happy to say that we have a few very good ones on the bill already. The Titty Twister doesn't have a fixed schedule or anything. I envision this place to be like an open stage for artists, DJ's and creative people who want to strut their stuff, try new material, or just jam out and party whenever they feel like it. A place for established artists to try new stuff, or new artists to get a feel for what it is like to perform on a stage in Second Life. No schedules, no obligations, no musts. Everybody's free to come and perform whenever they feel like it. Actually, that's our motto: Titty Twister, where anything goes, but nothing is a must...  Just contact me if you would like to perform on our stage, and we'll have a little chat about your plans and what you do as an artist or dj, and get you set up. Because of my music background, I might even be able to help you dial in your sound or be of assistance with any music or audio technical questions you might have.

Since we are an interactive club for everybody and very much encourage any form of social engagement we have voice turned on at the Titty Twister by default, and this is done as a very conscious decision to offer people, the widest form of possibilities to interact with each other. However, when live artists are performing we do turn the voice off out of respect for the artist and as not to distract from their show and material, after all, that's what the Titty Twister is there for... promoting live music and giving artists a stage to present their material!

This Saturday at 8AM SLT the Titty Twister will officially open its doors for the public, and for that the occasion we've come with a very exciting line-up full of entertainment for you:

  • 8AM - 10AM - DJ Tammy (This Thunder from down under will open the party with her eclectic selection of rock and electro-swing tunes)
  • 10AM - 11AM - Toxic Darkmatter (We use Art to decorate blank walls... Toxic uses Music to decorate the silence. Toxie has a mixture of soul and blues with an undertone of dirty sexiness, feminine power, and a cheeky contagious giggle with a Eff you twist to boot!)
  • 11AM - 12PM - Miss Cast (Pianist, vocalist and arranger Miss Cast, aka Anne Farnsworth IRL, is an accomplished jazz artist who swings her a** off...giving you Jazz, Blues and Stuff In-Between in her own inimitable style.)
  • 12PM - 1PM - Erik Kottzen (Erik brings to Second Life his wealth of real life experience. His shows are in English and have been described as beautiful, groovy, retro to modern, heart touching and rocking, featuring pop, rock, hard rock, metal, 80's, 90's and even some classic rock ballads!)
  • 1PM - 2PM - Ben Barker (Aboriginal Australian musician combining the guitar and didgeridoo simultaneously to create a truly unique sound...)
  • 2PM - 4PM - DJ Apollon afterparty (From Sweden comes to this ultimately funny dj with a lot of wit and a party music selection that you can't sit or stand still to)
  • 4PM - 6PM - DJ Khaos electronica (This Canadian DJ has a very special, groovy and an eclectic selection of electronica and dance music that will keep your ears pricked into the wee hours)

I hope to see you at the Titty Twister for the grand opening, keep on making good music and spread the love! ♥

Armandox.

Bringing Real Life music into Second life music scene and succeeding. The Follow - Orion Baral Reporting

The Follow is a Rock band from Columbia, MO consisting of three members; AJ Darkwatch, Powers Avon, and Troy Shoreland. Accidentally forming a band and performing together in real life since 1998, they discovered Second Life from a friend and have been performing for fans ever since. Getting to know these three great people during this interview I can see the true friendship and respect they have for each other. Now please enjoy the interview as much as I had sat down with the three of them.

Orion Baral (OB): Thank you all for taking the time for this interview. Can you tell us about yourselves and what musical background you each have?

AJ Darkwatch: My musical background throughout school was in a much higher register than a bass guitar. I played flute during concert band and marching band through middle and high school. I didn’t dream of playing the bass guitar until Troy’s Mom mentioned that he should just teach me how to play since The Follow had been without a bass player for a time. While Mat was out on the road tour managing another band Troy decided to give me some lessons so we could surprise him at the first Follow rehearsal when he returned. I think I knew 3 songs and could not dare take my eyes off the guitar neck. It reminded me of learning how to drive and not being able to look over and turn the dial on the radio - ha haa!

Powers Avon: I’m a drummer because of Peter Criss of the band KISS. I bought my first vinyl record at our small-town Walmart. It was KISS Alive II and I bought it simply because of the photos of the band on the back cover. I had never heard their music before.

Troy Shoreland: My musical background started with FM radio and my fascination with the album covers of my brother’s classic rock vinyl collection. I loved listening to all his records and seeing the artwork. My grandfather was also really into music, and he’d whistle nearly everywhere he went, and that put me at ease. Gramps was always very encouraging. My Mom used to play American Top 40 on our drives to the summer lake cabin. This was during the 80s when all the New Wave meets rock stuff was hitting the scene. It was a great time for music and a great time to be a kid.

OB: Love hearing your history, and Powers,  you are talking to a Kiss Army Member here. Seen them in concert 6 times and one of the unmasked tours too. Now, tell me can you define what music means to you?

AJ Darkwatch: Music is a way to share a message and emotional connection with others.  I like the way a song can change your thoughts and evoke memories and create moods.

Powers Avon: Music is memories, a vessel for communication, and magic that stirs the soul.

Troy Shoreland: Music is like a lifelong friend. It’s a rocket ship for the stirrings of the soul and expression for the spirit. Music can, in one instance, you can be drawn in for a quiet personal moment, and in another moment, burst alive in an energetic culture-shaping movement.

OB: I love how no matter how you each describe it, it comes down to the same thing, music is an emotional connection for each of you. Now how we all met tell me how did you discover Second Life?

AJ Darkwatch: I remember exactly where I was standing in the old rehearsal space when Mat first showed us his computer screen. I didn’t have much exposure to video games growing up so the graphics and navigation mesmerized me. I remember a show early on where I was required to open a door to enter the venue which was terrifying.  I still laugh when I try and change clothes and I  end up wearing a box.

Powers Avon: I used to work at a radio promotion company and became good friends with the owner. He was DJing in SL and suggested I create an account. Once I went to my first live performance, I was hooked.

Troy Shoreland: One of Powers’ friends, Trick, turned us on to Second Life over a decade ago now. I was skeptical at first but quickly realized what a special and unique community resides in SL.

OB: It had been a debate for a long time and that is that many professionals and gamers using Second life for various reasons. Do you consider SL as just a gaming platform or an extension of your real life?

AJ Darkwatch: I consider SL to be an extension of RL because of the interaction that we have had through the music jams we have gone to across the country. Once you make a RL connection - even if it is just through voice on a sim - your mind can go beyond the imagination of the avatars.

Powers Avon: It’s a living, breathing piece of art created by some extremely talented people all over the earth. One element that I’m drawn to the most is the live music community. My experiences there are just as real as an experience in my local music venue. I’ve had some deep conversations with friends in Second Life which I treasure.

Troy Shoreland: When I heard there were Second Life Jams in real life, I was sold. The idea of getting to meet some of the very same people you see at an online show in real life, even as an introvert, that really excited me, as it creates a lasting memory and deepens those connections and relationships. I love that.

OB: SL truly is an amazing place and a unique global platform.  Was this band formed in real life or did you all meet within Second Life and then decided to play together?

AJ Darkwatch: The band developed in real life through friendship and a shared interest in music. Even though I didn’t join the band for a few years- I got to experience the first songs being written and the first recordings of originals and many covers of U2 which was a significant influence in the beginning days.

Powers Avon: We formed by accident in real life during the fall of 1998.

Troy Shoreland: Powers and I talked during Cross Country practice about getting together and playing some of our favorite U2 and REM songs. Out of that, we wrote a couple of originals and became hooked on making music.

OB: You really don’t hear that a lot that three separate people form a band in real life and THEN come to SL. That is so interesting and great to hear. What is your part in the band and which instruments do you play?

AJ Darkwatch: I play bass guitar and foot keys which can be keyboard sounds or individual samples. I also sing backing vocals.

Powers Avon: I play the drums, percussion, and other sounds.

Troy Shoreland: I sometimes think my main role is technician, ha, because we’re always tweaking things and trying to fix something out of sorts. Though, when not lost in tech space, I also play guitar and sing.

OB: Are there any musicians who inspire you? What qualities do you admire about them?

AJ Darkwatch: I am inspired most of the time when I watch a live performance in person. It can be a local regional band or a national act. There is something about seeing it live that makes you want to go home and practice to hopefully get better at your instrument. I also enjoy hearing the musicians speak and I can appreciate when things do not go off with perfection. There is something in the struggle to make it seem real.

Powers Avon: Ha! This would be a full article and that’s if we just talk drummers. I admire musicians that are technical with their craft and those who can free flow. I love introspective lyrics and a song that just gets your body moving. I admire musicians that are chasing the music.

Troy Shoreland: There are different eras of inspiration, for me. In the early days, I was inspired by Tom Petty, the playing of Elliott Easton from The Cars, and loved the sonic landscapes and diversity of Steve Stevens from Billy Idol. In my high school years, I was much more influenced by The Edge from U2, David Gilmour from Pink Floyd, Peter Buck from REM, and Marty Willson-Piper, and Peter Koppes from The Church. In more recent years, the influences have been mostly acoustic singer-songwriter artists like John Butler Trio, Ben Howard, Tommy Emmanuel, Calum Graham, War On Drugs, and Xavier Rudd.

OB: That is great to hear, I love learning what inspires musicians. What's the best piece of advice another musician ever gave you?

AJ Darkwatch: The best advice I have heard was from Troy telling me to go back to a piece that I am learning and not just keep repeating it in the same setting. There is something about going away for a time and returning to help commit it to memory.

Powers Avon: Learn to read music. I still haven’t.

Troy Shoreland: One of my mentors once told me a story of a kid who was just learning bass guitar, and the mentor was what we’d consider a master at his instrument. When the boy told him he was learning Bass, the master player knelt down at the kid’s level, looked him in the eye, and excitedly said “Dude, you like to play bass too!?” They were two kids in a candy shop talking about Bass. It made the kid’s day, probably his week. The takeaway for me was to always keep wonderment in our lives, and allow it to be a genuine connecting point with others.

OB: Now with hearing the advice you were given, what advice would you give other musicians interested in performing in Second Life?

AJ Darkwatch: I would say to enjoy the experience and be as professional as you can but remember that it is the connection with others that is the most rewarding accomplishment you can receive. There may be mistakes or technical difficulties but we can be grateful for the time and opportunity and the ability to create experiences.

Powers Avon: Try not to let the tech side of things get in the way of the music or the fun. If you are considering performing in SL, I recommend that you do it.

Troy Shoreland: First, would be to keep it fun and enjoyable. Ask for help from others in the community when you’re stuck, especially in relation to the tech stuff, as it can be a little overwhelming until you get a feel for things.

OB: When you are dealing with three different artists on one stream, what would you do if there was a mistake during a performance?

AJ Darkwatch: We all stream together in one room so there is usually laughter or eye-rolling. We have played together for a few decades so we have learned to keep things rolling and have fun with things and keep our attitude going in the right direction if possible.

Powers Avon: Point and laugh at AJ for hitting the wrong foot key while she’s playing bass and also singing. Ha! How does she or Troy not have a hundred mistakes each set with all they are doing. Seriously though, we just do our best to recover and figure out where the others are in the song.

Troy Shoreland: The band meets as a group at our rehearsal space, where we play and transmit the stream inworld. It’s also where we write and work on our new material when we’re not gigging online or out live in person.

OB: Truly great that you all are easy-going and able to have fun and laugh at each other. Do you follow a process or ritual before a performance to get rid of nerves or performance anxiety?

AJ Darkwatch: One thing that helps me is to have a setlist prepared a little early so I can at least play the beginnings of the songs.  I feel like it is like going to a file cabinet and rummaging through to bring them to mind.

Powers Avon: We’re usually running around fairly frantic before many shows…practicing,

tweaking, learning right up until the last minute.

Troy Shoreland: Unfortunately, most of the time, we’re literally working right up until moments before the gig is to begin; on the set, transitions, on the sounds, and sometimes working on cameras or other tech-related stuff. This seems to be the case regardless of how much time we set aside. However, in those times we do have a few spare moments, taking time to close my eyes and breathe and simply be present with the gang is incredibly connective and healing for me.

OB: With your own personal real-life schedules how often do you perform in Second Life and how can venues book you for a performance?

AJ Darkwatch: I think we are playing a few times a month. We would like to play more often but also need to allow time to practice and get acquainted with new gear as well as write and recording when time allows. We also hope that this year will allow for RL shows as well at least maybe outdoor events will be allowed.

Powers Avon: We are playing a couple of times a month right now. Our SL booking agent is Jenna Dirval (jenna.dirval2@gmail.com)

Troy Shoreland: I think we are performing about once or twice a month in SL, currently. We love playing and it’s always a real joy to see folks online.

OB: There are always interesting or funny moments during performances. What was the most memorable to you either in RL, SL, or both.?

AJ Darkwatch: I used to laugh when SL was more unstable in earlier days when we would get a good crowd going and would have multiple crashes while also streaming audio to FB. We would laugh and say our RL friends would be scared off hearing us talking of crashing sims- ha haa! One particular gig we couldn’t manage to get our avatars back on so we had our SL friends get on stage and pretend to be us!! That was fun 😁

Powers Avon: We had a pint glass full of beer thrown at us once and lit cigarettes another time. I remember that. We showed up to play a venue that was “famous” for its hot dogs. There was no PA and they made their hotdogs in the hallway with a crockpot. Most SL shows have something memorable about them

Troy Shoreland: We drove eight hours and across a couple of states to play a gig that wound up being in, essentially someone’s house, that was converted into a living room venue. We cobbled together what we could with their makeshift PA, to little avail. We ended up playing for three people, who were so high or inebriated that I’m not sure they even remember we were there. I recall sometime during the set, being on stage, playing, and it was going so bad that all I  could do was laugh. Then something changed. Like a lightbulb, smack dab in the middle of one of our songs, came an a-ha moment, and with a shift of the mind and spirit, it somehow turned into one of the best nights ever. It was a lesson about perspective, choice, and doing what you love alongside those you love... my bandmates.

OB: Those are hilarious and glad it was a pint of beer thrown and not hot dogs, that would have been a new level of awkward. So let’s wrap this up and tell me is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?

AJ Darkwatch: We just want to make sure that they know we are always grateful to be able to share a show and appreciate the support that viewers have given to all musicians and artists and creators of all types. It is good fuel for the soul.

Powers Avon: Thanks for reading! We appreciate how supportive the SL community at large towards live music. We’ve benefited from your friendship, your passion for music, and your generosity in supporting venues & musicians. Thank you.

Troy Shoreland: Everyone has a one-of-a-kind unique and special voice. I'm not speaking on singing. As cliche as it sounds, life moves quickly, so do what ya believe and feel called to do. Something that brings life back to others and yourself. If it’s hard and has a truckload of obstacles, it just might mean you are on the right track... or a little crazy, haha!

Well, there you have it, a great time I had getting to know these three talented individuals called The Follow. Check them out you will not be disappointed.

Terry's Sunday Showcase - Lyric Serendipity & Suzen Juel DEBUT

Join us on Sunday, February 28th beginning at 3pm SLT for Terry's Sunday Showcase, sponsored by the SL Enquirer! Performing her debut this week is Lyric Serendipity...Lyric taught herself to play guitar, keyboard, and accordion by ear at a young age. She was the girl walking around town with her guitar on her back. All signs pointed to her becoming a full-time musician. But life leads her down a different path and that took her focus off the music. She tried going back to it at different times, but she came to realize she had developed a severe case of stage fright and she didn't sing at all for several years.

When she found Second Life, she found her voice again.

Lyric describes herself as a "mumbling, giggling, by-the-seat-of-my-pants" performer. Her sets are truly a 'stream of consciousness' experience. She sings the songs you forgot you loved. Her sets are heavy on the classic 60s - 90s rock, but she has an expansive song list with an eclectic mix from a variety of artists -  Fleetwood Mac, Pat Benatar, The Foo Fighters, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jefferson Airplane, Imelda May, The Goo Goo Dolls, The Eagles, Amy Winehouse, Bruno Mars, Aerosmith, Sheryl Crow, Dire Straits, The Doors, The Cars, Elle King, The Who, The Pretenders, The Allman Bros, Linda Ronstadt, Heart, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Cyndi Lauper, The Beatles, The Black Crowes, David Bowie, Natalie Merchant, Neil Young, The Black Keys, Led Zeppelin ....and many more.

She encourages audience participation and sometimes has her bandmates, The Explicit, on stage with her. Her SL musician friends have been known to drop in and jump up on stage to play along with her as well. Join her on a journey through the decades, singing the songs that is the soundtrack of our lives, Lyric brings the memories of the years of teen angst, new loves, raw sex, painful breakups, fun days and wild nights of our youth rushing back.
She invites you along for the ride!

Also debuting this week at 4pm SLT is the lovely and talented Suzen Juel, who has entwined and weaved herself into that Tapestry of Talent in Second Life so many Writers and Performers are proud to be a part of.

Suzen Juel Resistance joined SL Community for the 2nd time in April 2005.. to begin performing,(2005 as JueL Resistance) she was one of the first female musicians of a  small handful of musicians back then who has flourished with her songwriting over the next year to become known for her Acoustic Soul and Blues sound.

Since then she has joined talents with other Musicians such as Ricardo Sprocket, RoseDrop Rust and Cylindrian, as well as a small handful of great talents outside SL, and across the globe of collaborations.... with Boris Van Luger and Nestor Sanchis.....

Juel has been interviewed for various Magazines: Rolling Stone, Wired and is being Broadcast on the Infinite Mind Radio where she also sells her two songs "INTRUSIVE and GIVE ME MERCY"..as well as Indie Spectrum Radio in SL and Radio Paradise.com an Internationally known progressive radio station on the Net!

JueL is also a painter, an artist as well as a photographer. You can see her works at House of Flames where her shop and Venue LIVING ROOM #13 are currently displaying her works.  JueL Is well known in the  Second Life community as a singer-songwrite who does a deep emotional ride of Blues as well as Americana, Folk and Roots. She was one of the first female musicians in Second life and the first to go down the road of Blues...she brings with her years of talent, experiences and emotions that embed themselves deep into her songs.
